Royal Deli And Bakery

Ate here once at lunchtime. Very unimpressed. Came with 5 others from our office and they simply could only handle one order at a time. thought the food was fair but didn’t like the bread which is a problem when you are in a bakery.
Would not go back again. I mean, no food poisoning or anything but there are lots better places to eat, especially on the south side of town. Also very crowded — they are not really suited for people eating in unless it’s just coffee and a danish.

Highly recommend this place they have cakes for any type of occasion, the owners Alex & Olga are very wonderful people offer great customer service. Great pastries cookies and tarts. Best Red Velvet and cream cheese cake I ever had. Every cake they have made me has been a success and people always ask where I got it from. A++

I met this amazing duo back in 2007 when they made my wedding cake, I then used them again for my sons baptism. It had been a few years since I had been in the bakery since I moved from the area. Went in today to see if they were still as good as I remembered and it was amazing! I was so excited to see they had French macaroons, I had been dying to try some that would be tasty. I had been disappointed in another bakery in the past. I went ahead and bought 3 and they were divine! The taste was so amazing I actually went back the same day to get some more! Definitely recommend this bakery to anyone who’s not only looking for delicious cake but amazing treats as well!

I ordered cake for my daughters 15^th birthday. The cake was beautiful and delicious! I received so many comments on the cake! I would absolutely recommend this bakery!

Looks as good as it tastes. Husband and wife team. Small business I love this place. Only have a party twice a year or I’d be there more.

I wanted to try a new bakery and I’m glad I did.
Walked into the small bakery and was greeted by the cashier who was very friendly.
Began ordering and didn’t realize it was cash only. The cashier come to find out was the owner of the bakery and allowed me to pay with a personal check which was really great. I purchased a variety of cookies and pastries. The pastries were awesome, very light and wonderful tasting. Unfortunately, my family and I did not care too much for the cookies. They were dry and not very flavorful. I will return to this bakery for the service and the pastries.

Dont judge a book by the cover. This place looks like a lot of other strip mall bakeries or coffee shops that come and go. The difference is that the owners run the place — actually care about you and your happiness — and have learned the art of French baking which is recognized as the worlds best. We visit family members here each year from Miami. Last year we bought an awesome cake for our daughters first communion and this year we simply stocked up on treats and croissants. We know its a good deal because in Miami we go to a fancy schmancy place where the prices are 4 times what you pay here and the quality is the same. Salinas — you don’t know how lucky you are! The next time you go to buy bread or croissants at Safeway or Walmart — STOP — and drive 2 minutes to buy their croissants, made with real ingredients or their cookies instead of some chemical treats from the Costco candy aisle. Support small business, your health and your taste buds all at the same time!!! We’ll be back!!!

This place was a gem find since we were not from the area but needed a place for decent cake over Valentine’s Day. The cake was great, service was wonderful and price was reasonable. Highly recommended.

this bakery is my new go to place for anything sweet or when i need to order a dessert for a special occasion.
after going to peninsula pastries i was told i would not be able to order a cake that week for a pick up of the following week. they said they would not b able to fulfill my order unless i ordered a larger cake than what i wanted. that seemed ridiculous but the lady i spoke to blamed they were very busy because of valentines day ??? so i went acoss the parking lot to this little bakery.
olga was so kind and courteous! she was so patient while i was trying to decide the cake flavor and design. we set up the pick up time and i purchased a slice of cheesecake and tiramasu. i did mention my experience at the other bakery and even she gave a confused look. on the day of pick up she had my cake ready and it looked awesome! i was so happy and when i delivered it to my boss, she was also very happy and both my manager and her husband couldn’t get over how delicious it was.
this bakery is a little small but they have good variety of deserts available for purchase such as slices of cake, cup cakes, cookies, tarts and they even offer luch which i look forward to trying.
on a personal note i would like to thank olga and her husband for such wonderful cake. You two are so sweet and i really made my managers day to receive a wonderful delicious cake that you created. i hope you, your husband and business continue to be blessed

I ordered my wedding cake from Royal Bakery and it was amazing. Alex and Olga baked THE most delicious cake I have ever had. At least 10 wedding guests independently told us it was the best wedding cake they ever had!
From the day Olga sat with me and my mom in the shop drawing out the 4-​tier cake, to whipping up a sample of my custom fresh strawberry-​and-​coconut flavors, to the delivery and fresh flower decorating, Royal Bakery has exceeded all of my expectations. It took a lot of willpower to freeze the top layer of our cake instead of eating it right up!

I was recommended to this bakery by coworkers and Unilocal reviews. This was the first time I’ve been to this bakery and read and heard good things about it. I ordered a 10″ round cake for my daughters 13 birthday. I wanted something special normally I would do Safeway. I ordered a white cake with strawberries. When I picked up the cake three days later it was not exactly what I ordered. Don’t get me wrong, the cake looked very nice, but it definitely was not what I ordered originally. For a 13^th birthday I wanted something excited and colorful. When I got it was more plain then I wanted. But it did look very nice and it was the day of the party so I kind of felt stuck I paid $ 43.00 for it. Everybody at the party thought that it looked really good, but the taste was a whole difference story. I couldn’t believe how bad the cake tasted, or more to the point the lack of taste the cake had. There was no flavor at all, nothing.
The frosting tasted like Crisco Shorting, and had the same consistency. The cake had absolutely no flavor the closes thing that it taste like was bread. The only thing on the cake with favor was the strawberries. It was so bad that nobody ate the cake, only ¼ of the cake was cut and I throw the rest away that night. Just to be clear I haven’t tired there other baked goods, but if they are the same as their cakes looks can be deceiving.

One word sums the owners and what they produce up and that is BRILLIANT.
Firstly unlike every other shop that sells food on Valley Park, they are warm and very welcoming. They deserve to do well with their attitude towards customers.
The cakes and cookies are all excellent and taste fantastic.
I tried a Club Chicken sandwich and it was the best sandwich I have had in a long time.
Simply put, brilliant cakes, cookies and sandwiches served by two very nice people. Highly recommended.

We had Royal Deli and Bakery design our wedding cake. We went for a rustic look, and they incorporated some of our burlap and flowers. We had shown them a picture of the cake we wanted (found on Pinterest) and they were able to replicate it to perfection. About 2 weeks before the wedding, we realized that we needed more cake because we had more people attending than we had anticipated. I went to Royal Bakery and told them the situation and they had no problem making two more cakes in addition to our original wedding cake. They thought this would be best so that we could have a few different flavors of cake for people to try. We had red velvet, carrot, chocolate with real raspberries, and white with real strawberries. Every single flavor was absolutely delicious!!! I would highly recommend them for a wedding cake, but they also do party cakes and baked items like tarts/​cookies that are delicious as well.

My husband and I had come across their website when looking for bakeries to make our wedding cake and went to visit their bakery in Salinas. Olga and Alex are good people and make great pastries. We loved the cookies they make and even stopped in after the cake tasting to get more. We were extremely happy with our wedding cake. It was three tiers and each was a different flavor red velvet, triple chocolate, and a strawberry shortcake. The guest all loved the cake. The decorations came out great seashells and coral candy.

This small bakery is a great little treasure hidden in this wild strip mall.
It is locally owned and operated. Their variety of cakes is pretty astounding and their knowledge of cakes is quite impressive. They are very ambitious bakers yet their prices are very good considering the quality of work they do. They have been in the business for decades which is evident. The presentation of their cakes is not what you see on TV but the taste of their cakes makes up for it.
They offer a passion fruit cake which is seasonal as you might imagine. They have a triple chocolate cake which was pretty good! Their red velvet was not as good; however I have a very high standard for red velvet. They also offer the other general cakes like chocolate mousse, lemon, etc.

A wonderful family owned bakery and deli in Salinas. They made our wedding cake in 2007, and we’ve been loyal to Royal Deli and Bakery ever since. I can’t imagine a trip back to visit family without a stop at Park Row to pick up some treats. I even place orders for holiday cakes, cookies and cupcakes over the phone to pick up at Christmas and Easter.
The husband and wife team provide wonderful customer service and delicious food at a very reasonable price. I am sure I will be a customer for years to come.

They were super easy to work with, took all our requests, no issues what-​so-​ever! I’d use them again, but I’m already married ;)

Attempt number 1 — Closed Doh!!! not posted online that they were closed. just posted on their door. sad face.
Attempt number 2 — came for lunch!
Chicken club — YUMMY!!! grilled marinated chicken breast on foccacia bread. Grilled red onions. Avocado. Jack cheese. Sundried tomato garlic mayo. Tomato. Mixed green side salad w balsamic. awesome sandwich with a mini salad on the side. so big i ate the other half of the sandwich for dinner.
we also tried the tiramisu, good-​not-​great.
3 sandwiches cookies n dessert for just over 20??? Awesome!
Attempt number 3 — They ran out of lunch food before 2pm! So we just picked up some dessert
Ganache chocolate coffee. W hazelnut. Yummy!!!
Needless to say… we came 3 times so that the girl friend could find out if she wanted to get her wedding cake from here… after her initial cake tasting last week, she loved it, and is going to be doing her cake and cupcakes for her nuptials from here. Can’t wait til her big day!

Alex and Olga of Royal Deli and Bakery were recommended to us by our coordinator (Kathy Kulper of Fabulous Weddings by Kathy). We made an appointment with Alex and Olga and they were able to squeeze us in on the same day about 2 months before our July wedding in Monterey.
They brought out a selection of flavors to try. We sampled vanilla cake with strawberry filling, a white German cake with rum almond crunch filling, and another one that I don’t remember. They were all AMAZING. We might have licked the plates clean. Oops.
Alex and Olga make cakes fresh the night before the wedding with local and fresh ingredients. They obviously love what they do and are very talented.
We eventually chose a 3 tiered cake with lavender piping and purple ribbon around each base. We went with the German white cake with the rum almond filling. They were already booked to deliver another cake to another wedding, but it was easy to arrange for a friend to pick up the cake from them.
Our cake arrived looking absolutely lovely. It tasted even better. In fact, we have had more compliments on our cake then most other parts of the wedding (I’m not sure if that is a good thing). It was mouth-​watering.
Here are three reasons to chose Alex and Olga for your wedding cake:
1.) They are a small, family owned business that gives excellent customer service and provides fresh and quality cakes.
2.) Alex is a genius baker who makes every cake look like a piece of art and they taste even better.
3.) Our cake worked out to about $ 3.50 a slice, far less expensive than some of the other bakeries in Monterey Bay.
With Alex and Olga, you can rest assured that you will get better than what you thought you paid for. These two are really fantastic! Their deli sandwiches are as good as their cakes, btw. :)
