Taqueria Hidalgo

Waited 15min for 2 quesadillas, torta and pupusa and we were the only ones there. There is nothing special or ‘wow’ about the food and it was expensive for the amount of food we got. I probably would not come here again only because there are better taquerias in town. Added an extra star because the place was clean.

I love Tacos from Taqueria Hildalgo in Chualar and was excited to find out that they have opened another store in Salinas, but it was just a huge disapointment. My fish tacos were extremely salty yet the salt could not mask the stinkiness of the fish. I wonder if they could smell the stinky fish while they were cooking and still decided to serve it to customers? Very wrong, very sad. If you don’t have fresh ingredients, please tell the cusomers that you don’t have them. I would have been happy with Carnitas Tacos…

Came in for the first time wanting a Ceviche Tostada, unfortunately they do not have Mariscos/​Seafood here. Decided to try the tacos with everything (cilantro, onions, salsa) For $ 1.49 a taco they were not too bad. I’ve tasted better in the area but they were ok. I had 2 of Asada and 2 of Pastor. The salsa was ok I like it a lil more spicy. I would try it again if in the area such as at the mall and wanted Mexican Food but wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

I come here for my lunch sometimes. $ 1.99 tacos are okay, just enough to satisfy my cravings. I also get the torta but they don’t put that much meat or condiments in it and I feel like it’s too small to be $ 4.99. i always get asada for my tacos and torta. Sometimes it’s dry but it’s acceptable, the wait depends on how many people are ahead of you. I order to go and I wait at least 5 minutes, shorter than the Carl’s Jr. wait inside the mall. Employees are very nice, they’re always friendly and they would always ask me if I want any extras on my food.

Tried this place out finally. Typical Mexican food nothing great nothing bad. The sides are kinda small like the amount of rice and beans you get. No salsa bar??? You can always tell the cleanliness of a place when there is a fly flying around inside the establishment. Other than that it’s decent.

Love the old fashion Mexico vibe, the deco is very traditional Spanish very bright and clean. The menu is clear and bold with pictures to show the plates. They have everything to choose from. The young lady was very helpful spoke Spanish and English.
We came at lunch time got our order in and the food was out about 5−8mins. Lots of drinks to choose from soda, juices, beers.
My food was prefect the favor was on point not to salty just enough spices.
Beans and rice tasted like my grandmas homemade ethnic;) tortilla also.
They have catering services and you can also pick up your order.
We be coming back for either breakfast or dinner!

I guess the first time I came was when they were still on a Grand Opening high… this visit was abysmal. Unsmiling, awkward service, and bland, small-​portioned food. The restaurant was completely empty, and with good reason.
Look at the difference between my pictures of sopes from last year and today — no avocado, the masa is flatter than a tortilla, the carnitas is soggy and entirely without spices.
Bummer, guys! Wanted this to be my go-​to when I pass through Salinas.
Never again.

I am giving this place 1 star even though they deserve 0! We ordered a Torta and the waitress told us this came with avocado, yet when we got the Torta there was no Avocado… I ordered the enchilada platter with rice and beans. Both the rice and beans were soooo cold and the rice had no flavor. Maybe we came at a bad time but there was no Horchata and they don’t serve chips and salsa like most Mexican restaurants do… The waitress did not come to see how we were doing or how the food was in order for us to give feedback and no one greeted us as we walked out yet all 3 waitresses watched us walk to the door. I work in customer service and have had pretty bad service this is in the top 5! Will not be returning to this place!
