Went to get a wet burrito and the salsa was too watery! The guacamole inside it was also watery! I couldn’t enjoyed it because it was too spicy. It’s the second time I tried it and same thing. I only took a few bites… Disappointed/:

I love the torta de asada here! I think the food is a bit overpriced compared to other Mexican restaurants but I just love the taste! Ohhh and you get free chips and u also get to choose your salsa!

Stopped by here with a group of 7 for an impromptu casual dinner last Saturday night. Great food, varied menu, excellent service. Ample safe parking. Our orders were taken promptly. You order at the counter and food is brought to your table. Free chips and salsa. I had the shrimp tacos, very good. I would definitely come here again!

I am not from this area, but I ALWAYS make a stop at Los Gallos when I am driving through Salinas. One reason: the burrito. Now I have not had every burrito in California, but this one is my favorite so far. Also, I love the salsa and pico bar. Got to stop here whenever you are in Salinas!

Food is good BUT why is it $ 11.99 for 2 tacos with beans and rice for a walk up and order type place in a mini strip mall INSALINAS???

Don’t go here. This place is a rip off. Literally they tried ripping me off twice in a row, shameless. So I decided to try them out before I did taxes cause they got«healthy» options going on. They over charged for the burrito. And hella overcharged for the Arizona ice tea. I was like whatever, guess this mexican lady needs money for her taxes. I went back to get a wheat tortilla quesadilla and she tried ripping me off again by almost two bucks. I even pointed it out to her, like why you’re trying to rip me off twice then she started pretending she didn’t know English. Even the other employees felt bad for me and they apologized bus she didn’t.

I am always on a mission for good Mexican food. As a native San Diegan, this place was pretty good! The rice was great but the bean were just OK for my taste. They were a bit too watery for me. I ordered a shrimp dish and it was cook very well! In addition to being seasoned well! I’ll be going back!

Delicious Super Nachos!!! The only bad thing about this place, there is a lady that works here, actually, she looks like she is the owner, is soo rude!!! Sorry if you hate working but that’s how we all survive!

Ok so probably my most favorite taqueria in town. The vegetarian burrito is my meal of choice. The chips though, dear god — greasy, salty bites of amazingness. I pity the people going into the Jenny Craig next door.

The only thing I get here is the Super Burrito. The meats I choose are either the chili verde, chicken, or asada. I have yet to try their pastor. My cousin usually gets the quesadilla and it’s pretty good as well. The prices aren’t bad at all. There’s a lot of seats so you don’t have to worry about that. The chips at the counter is self serving just make sure you use a scoop because I see people just grab the chips with their bare hands sometimes.(barf) No wonder they have that hand sanitizer up at the registers.

Good food but way to expensive! They’ve raised there prices over the years and cut down on the portion sizes if I might say. I have been eating the same thing every time i got there(super burrito) it really isn’t as good as it used to be! My bf usually gets the chicken super nachos and I am not kidding you about the portion sizes, we went one twice during the week(the food is great) but they placed our nachos in a smaller plate!!! And this was in the same week. Kinda mad because the price was the same! Try the horchata its AMAZINGGGG(but you have to pay for refills)!

Been going here for only the past few months, and I have to say that Los Gallos is my new favorite Taqueria in Salinas. I’ll start by saying that it’s not an extravagant restaurant… but that’s the beauty of it. The food is made to order, and comes to you fast! A perfect place to go to lunch if you have an hour lunch break for work, or even 30 minutes! The salsa bar kicks ass. Los Gallos is not too pricey, and has plenty of parking. Try their super burritos, soft tacos, and or their enchilada style burrito You won’t be disappointed!

Been going here for years and it is our favorite taqueria in town. It is located in a Food Max parking lot on a very busy corner in North Salinas. Not a lot of character but good honest food. There are warm homemade chips and a salsa bar. The soft tacos are tasty and reasonable. The burritos are a good size and I really like the grilled chicken as meat of choice. Its tender and not mushy with a hint of smokiness from the grill. They have a fresh ceviche and and other seafood selections. If you are in need of some real down home mexican at a reasonable price try Taqueria Los Gallos.

I had a few minutes to kill before I met with my customer. So, I thought I would get some Mexi-breakfast. It is very clean and reminds me of my days growing up in Arizona. I ordered the potato and egg burrito and a glass of horchata to wash it down with. It was all down-home, good. The staff are very nice and the traditional salsa bar is great too. Next time I’m down south it will be a necessary stop.

This would be a great place to stop when you’re traveling down 101. It’s just a long city block from the Boronda Rd exit to an excellent burrito. Although another reviewer felt service was not as friendly as it could be, I think it’s a moot point since it is a step up and order place rather than a sit and be served place. Besides, nothing could be as bad as ordering at Blondie’s, Top Dog’s or the Soup Nazi! You will pay $ 5.82 for a 1−½# super burrito expertly wrapped and encased in foil. You will take this marvelous food log and tong into your bag some of their exquisite FREE tortilla chips. These aren’t wimpy chips from a bag. No, sir! These are hand cut corn tortillas, fried up fresh each morning, and sprinkled liberally with salt. These are chips with body; chips that won’t break as you scoop out bits of burrito. From there, you head to the salsa bar. Unfortunately, they no longer provide free salsa fresca(pico de gallo) due to the cost of tomatoes. However, they still provide a lovely roasted chile salsa and a salsa verde next to the ubiquitous pickled carrots and jalapenos(known as escabeche, in our neck of the woods) and wedges of fresh lime. Needless to say, the slice of jack is steamed on the tortilla allowing for the elasticity necessary for such a huge food log. The super burrito comes standard with whole pintos, but you could ask for refritos if you were so minded. The rice is the standard arroz de la Mexicana; competent but not overly spiced. The meat choices include carnitas, carne asada, pollo asado, chile verde, tongue, and brains. The quantities of beans, rice, and meat are in a lovely balance so that you don’t feel like you’ve consumed a starch bomb. Binding all this together is a hefty spoonful of salsa fresca(hand chopped), guacamole, and sour cream. Perfect integration occurs to make this all a saucy, but not drippy taste treat; moist, chewy, spicy, and perfectly salted. The carnitas are absolutely lovely. They are perfectly cooked with little crunchy bits, devoid of fat, and incompletely chopped to yield a great texture to the teeth. The white meat chicken has been spiced similar to carne asada, and cooked on the grill. It is chopped into ½″ chunks that are moist and flavorsome. Prior to getting hooked on the carnitas/chicken combo, our favorite meat was the chile verde and the carnitas. Try their vegetarian burrito sin lechuga because they put in too damn much lettuce! Without the lettuce, it’s very nice. Also, if the weather is hot(it can’t be summer as this is the Salinas Valley!) and you really can’t deal with a lot of food, the tostadas are lovely. They don’t serve fish tacos, but sometimes they’ll have ceviche. A ceviche tostada is finely chopped fish combined with salsa fresca served on a house fried tostada that’s been spread with sour cream and Tapatio sauce. Yummy!
