Never a bad experience here but the food has definitely changed over the years. Not as good as it used to be.

I’ve driven by here hundreds of times and I finally stopped to try the food. I tried a cheese enchilada, carnitas sopes, asada taco, rice & beans. Let’s just say I won’t be going back… I should’ve believed the reviews :-(

My husband and I found our new home. The burritos here are amazing. Recently we decided to sit down and eat since it always looks full of people. One thing that caught my eye is the cleanliness! The food was amazing and we can’t wait to go back!

I order a bean cheese and very little rice burrito(every time) and they continue to give me mostly rice with a little beans and cheese…

I only come to ticos for a surf and turf burrito. This burrito is the best burrito but the only thing I don’t like is the way the burrito is wrapped. I know it sounds dumb to complain about it but I like my burrito to be wrapped tight like the other Mexican restaurants bc the first and last bite is usually a chunk of just flour tortilla. Overall the surf and turf is really good. I’ve tried their asada fries and honestly I wish they had thinner fries bc they use fries that remind me of potato wedges. Also some of their hot sauces are watered down to the point some have no flavor. This restaurant shouldn’t even be called a Mexican restaurant. The rice and beans have no flavor but their horchata is good. I honestly come here for just the surf and turf burrito and that’s pretty much it. I rather go to a real Mexican restaurant if I want enchiladas, flautas, or any other Mexican dish.

Won’t go there again, First off it gave me diarrhea, the customer service is very poor. I ordered a chille, Reyeno and I believe me that looked like a small jalapeño. The rice and beans where poor in taste. My sister got carnitas tacos very dry meat, and the Asada fries where horrible. OVERPRICED $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for poorly food. I’d much rather go eat at super taqueria or taco bell

Great authentic Mexican food with low prices. Salsa bar. Friendly staff. Would like to see addition of fresh grilled jalapeños to the salsa bar. Excellent flavor. We drive 30 minutes from the Monterey peninsula to go to Tico’s.

Great authentic Mexican eatery in South Salinas. They have one of the best bean and cheese burritos, cheese enchiladas, asada fries, and chicken taquitos around. Great fast service during busy lunch hours.

Used to like this place however one day for lunch I grabbed a bean cheese rice and sour cream burrito but it tasted extremely funny. I stopped going there then someone bought me lunch and it was the same kind of burrito. Again it had a funny unpleasant taste and I had asked it is from ticos tacos. Indeed it was. I opened my burrito and the rice had some green in it. Then I recognized the smell to it being molded. Very disgusting.

This is my best friends favorite«Mexican» place to eat so I come here often but it wouldn’t be my first choice. Me being Mexican, I’ve ate at numerous authentic Mexican restaurants. First off, Mexican restaurants do not charge for chips. They do. Maybe they need the extra money? I’ve had the bean, cheese and rice burrito and shrimp tacos. Food is good, portions in my opinion are small and extremely overpriced. They charge extra for any changes. I also don’t like that when you order your meal they don’t give you your chips to start off with or your drink right away. You have to wait for everything together unless you tell them you want those things first.

Food Poisoning: My husband and son got food poisoning and both ended up in urgent care. My husband called Ticos Tacos to report it and was told a manager would call him back but no call. UPDATE: 4÷3÷15: My husband met with management and learned that they had not been informed of the incident. Ticos Tacos is taking this very seriously and we are very appreciative of the outcome.

Was happy to come across Tico’s Tacos while visiting my grandparents in Salinas, especially since the one in San Jose is no longer there. I ordered the same thing I did when I was a kid, the flautas & cheese enchiladas. Taste just the same as I remember. I decided to get the combo plate with rice and beans this time. Food is still great, but a bit overpriced.

I LOVETHISPLACE. I have had only 2 things that I just can’t get past. Number 1 is the ASADABURRITO which is grilled sooo good and juicy it does not need salsa or any type of home made sauce that is there for you. I have to sit there for at least 10 minutes to make sure I let the food settle before I eat another one for tongue association only and the 2nd is the SURFANDTURF Burrito… That is to dye for. Shrimp, Asada, french fries, and avocado all wrapped up in a burrito. OMG Pure love. I am so happy we live so close now. The girls here are the bomb and the cook, well he is just heavenly. Thank you for opening another on Cannery Row. ONELOVE.

I dunno what happened to this place, but I was definitely let down. I went here all the time as a kid, got great food that didn’t cost an arm and a leg… finally got to go in for the first time in, gosh, five years since I’ve been stationed overseas and I was SADLY disappointed. First, a plate of two CHEESE enchiladas and rice should not cost $ 10.25. How can you even validate that price? Then $ 1.50 per taquito? Seriously? For my order, it came out to about $ 14 which is insane to me considering I don’t remember it ever… EVER. costing that much. Plus, I remember getting chips with your order. Nope, not now. Now you gotta spend $ 2 for a small bag? Have you lost your mind, Tico Taco? Maybe the price went up because of the fancy flat screen TVs they got hanging everywhere, or how they updated the appearance of their menu… or even opening a location up in Monterey. BUT…none of that is validation enough for the price gouging they’re doing. Those sort of prices are legit in Monterey, NOT in South Salinas! I won’t be going back again, to say the least.
