Luminosity hosted a Cut-​a-​Thon event for a local preschool and ALL money went to purchasing materials for the children. So, first of all, that’s super awesome, amazing, and generous. Supporting the community is what ALL businesses should be doing — A+ for them, right away!
But then, I sat in the stylist’s chair. My last haircut was a mess and, quite frankly, I’m not a very decisive person when it comes to my appearance, so I was a challenging customer. Luis took the challenge and absolutely ran with it. He put a little washout color in my hair for fun and gave me an AMAZING cut. I was SO HAPPY with the result!

I have had a long history of dying my hair, and I definitely love to try new colors. This past October I decided I wanted purple hair underneath, with my natural brown on top. After a disastrous color job at a different salon, I went somewhere else to have it fixed. It was a decent job, but I felt that there still wasn’t enough purple for my liking. I made the HORRIBLE choice to bleach my hair at home myself, so that I could achieve the purple I wanted. I think I bleached my hair about 3 times (I have dark brown hair) in order to get the purple to stay. The color wouldn’t hold, so eventually I just let it go. My hair became so damaged, dry and unhealthy. I let it go until a week ago, because I never had the time to go to a salon and get it fixed. Finally it became unbearable, so my mom and I walked into Luminosity hoping to get our hair cut. Aaron was my stylist that day, and he is a miracle worker!!! It took a permanent color, a toner, and a semi permanent hair color, but now, my hair is all one color, and you can’t even tell there was blonde :)) he even trimmed it enough that the ends are healthier (without taking off my length, since my hair takes forever to grow). I was so thrilled and beyond happy! Thank you Aaron and Luminosity!!!

I’ve been dying my hair for years and it wasn’t until a friend recommended Luis that I was truly happy with my hair: it is the perfect golden blonde (not brassy!). He truly has a gift for the perfect blonde– and as blondes know, there are many different shades of blonde, so this is not a small feat! I get so many compliments on my hair. If you’re a blonde, or want to be, I highly recommend Luis! He is also very accommodating of my schedule, which is highly unpredictable and has made hair appointments quite challenging with past salons.
Everyone at the salon is so nice– from the receptionists to the other hair stylists. I’ve always felt very welcome. They always ask if I need refreshments or snacks (I admit I love the baked goods that are always in the salon!). And– they do NOT push product! Of course they will assist if you ask for something, but it’s refreshing to not be pressured.

On a recommendation from a friend I made an appointment with Tara at Luminosity. She was very friendly and warm and listened and seemed to understand what I wanted. I found her easy to work with and she gave me exactly what I asked for. She is not cheap but she took the time to give me the color and lift I wanted and that is worth its weight in gold – well, not gold, but those cool, beige, highlights of just the right tones I was seeking. She is also very good at a cut, going very gently from conservative to wherever you want to go.
I highly recommend Tara at Luminosity, I was thrilled with her expertise at the chemistry of color and her ability to give me exactly what I wanted. She will be my go-​to stylist, I am so happy to have found her and I am thrilled to have my hair exactly as I hoped for and always wanted – not an easy task, she is it!

I have been going to Luminosity for years and I love it! It truly is a full service salon. The staff is always pleasant. I have never had to wait for any amount of time and am always offered coffee when I arrive. Highly recommend for any salon service you are in search of!!!

I see Amanda every month for my eyebrows. She’s the only person I trust with them, and she’s great at it.
Luis is my stylist and he always has helpful advice and fun suggestions on what to do with my hair cut/​color/​etc.
The place is clean, and they offer drinks and free home baked snacks on most days– what’s not to love?

Overall Luminosity Salon is hands down, without a shadow of a doubt, the BEST SALON in Ann Arbor, Saline and all of Michigan for that matter. I have been a loyal patron of the salon for about 5 years now. I travel all around the world for work and have yet to find a place I like more. I am in the entertainment industry to suffice to say that my appearance and beauty regimes are my number one priority!
The staff is wonderful and friendly. Just a wonderful place.
Luis has been coloring and cutting my hair for the past 5 years and I will never ever see anyone else for my hair. He keeps it long, beautiful and healthy. The color is always perfect. I could never trust anyone else with my locks.
Amanda is BY FAR… the BEST esthetician in the whole entire WORLD! You will not find a better Brazilian wax anywhere. She is quick and meticulous. My eyebrows are gorgeous thanks to her… no one else touches them. She truly is incredible.

Best hair cut experience I have ever had! Everything from the décor, to welcoming receptionists, to the service itself was excellent. They really listen to what you want and are very skilled at what they do. Previous to coming here I had a terrible hair cut elsewhere and Luminosity worked miracles on my hair to fix it. After this experience, I will not go anywhere else!

Nice products and space, but average cut for high price!

I had no idea where to get my hair done and spent the last two weeks calling around and trying to find a place that had openings, affordable prices and polite receptionists (I used to be one and I just really like going places that are super friendly and welcoming).
I called Luminosity and they were able to get me in the same day. I was extremely happy although I know that can be a red flag, as it seems the best stylists are booked out weeks in advance. I can’t schedule in advance and need a place I can get in when I have a day off, so I was thrilled to be scheduled right in.
The salon itself is located right off Michigan Ave East of downtown Saline and has lots of parking. It is super clean, bright and modern with REALLY really nice front desk staff. They made me feel welcome and offered coffee right away, yay!
I booked with Larissa for highlights and low lights and she was AMAZING! I am definitely going back for the rest of my life, lol. She was super friendly and helpful, as I wasn’t sure exactly what look I was going for. Mostly I wanted to be less blond and she was able to give me several options and explain them all. She was super fast and I was in and out in less than 2 hours. My hair is midway down my back and she styled it; it was the best it’s ever looked! The style held for two days and I was sad to wash it out!!!
I really had the best experience. I ended up buying some holiday sparkly nail polish and sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. I am going to go back to Larissa for a haircut as soon as I have time. She’s fantastic!!! Thank you to everyone for being so welcoming.
– ALSO, I almost forgot — I took my 3 year old son there for a haircut with Heather and she was awesome! He has Autism and did not have language at that point. His receptive language was very minimal, but she was so patient and so nice to him. I just held him and she did what she could. She was fantastic with him.

Salon Luminosity is amazing! I am very picky about who cuts and styles my hair, but after reading the great reviews about Luminosity, I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. Luis did an outstanding job and I am more than pleased with the cut and style that he did for me. Several months ago, my naturally curly hair was ruined by a harsh brazilian blowout at another salon and I told Luis that all I wanted was my curly hair back. He gave my hair some much needed TLC and an amazing cut that brought the bounce back into my curls! I am so impressed with the quality of service at Salon Luminosity that I will no longer go anywhere else. I can’t wait to go back again and again.

I have been having my hair colored and cut by Tara for well over 12 years and she is absolutely amazing. My color is always perfect and the trims/​cuts always what I want. My daughter’s first hair cut was with Tara and my daughter is now 23 and still goes to Tara for her cut and color! My son went to Tara all through middle school, high school and college! He now lives out of state but has never found a new stylist! She is the best. If you are blonde and can’t get in with Tara, then please try Larissa or Diana, they both are wonderful! Diana also gives the best manicures! Anyway, this is by far the best salon in Washtenaw county! I would highly recommend it! It may seem pricy, but you totally get what you pay for and they also take debit or credit cards unlike salons in LA or NY who require «cash only» payments for services. They train and attend hair shows regularly, as they are always learning new skills or techniques. Give them a try today, you won’t be disappointed!
