Big Kahuna Pizza-N-Stuff

This place is pretty terrible, and until the last month or so, I hadn’t been to Big Kahuna or Big Daddy’s since my freshman year of college, so I forgot how bad it was. The pizza is garbage and tastes like they mixed flour and putty together to make some dough. It’s just not good and lacks any idea of flavor. The sauce is also lacking a ton in any kind of texture or flavor and the cheese tastes and feels like it’s just melted silly putty that was a defect at the factory because it somehow got mixed with a ton of oil. It’s just really bad.
The restaurant is dirty inside and it always looks like it needs to be scrubbed down or just burned down and rebuilt.
The guys who work there are pretty nice though, especially considering I’ve only been here when it’s been really late at night and I’m sure they are exhausted. Save yourself, and just order from The Pie Hole a few blocks away if you want some pizza late at night because they are way better (still greasy though).

Don’t do it. Listen to the bad reviews. I was drunk. I was high. And this pizza still tasted terrible. Worse than Little Caesars. So greasy that it was dripping and the bread was soaked. Not only was it expensive, but I am also paying a different price the morning after. Save your money and calories and just go to bed.

Some of the worst pizza I have ever tasted. The sauce was very uninteresting; it is reminiscent of a canned sauce that you can get on clearance at big warehouse store. The dough was tasteless with an unpleasing texture. We will not be ordering from here again.

If I could give a zero I would. This is the same company as big daddy’s pizza. Why do they have 2 names? I don’t know. We ordered at midnight and we had 2 options; big daddy’s or big kahuna… We thought we’d try out big kahuna because Im not a fan of big daddy’s. We ordered a 14″ pizza for $ 18 plus tax and tip; pretty pricy if you can get a legit pizza at Pizza Hut for $ 10. Not only deceiving but probably the worst pizza you can order. It’s pretty much card board and cheese. I called to ask why they sent a big daddy’s pizza and they went on to say that I should have known. Da FAQ??? I will not order from here again.

And here we have the startling case of Big Kahuna. Back in another life, I worked in an area rather bereft of decent places to eat. Many, but not all, have been reviewed here. It was with no small degree of pleasure when we located this place, as the rest of the pizza places relatively nearby were corporate chains with pizza ranging from the wealthy gamut of substandard to largely inedible. This place, I believe, used to be on 1300 S. and it is to that restaurant to which I write this.
Anyway, they had some very unique offerings and while the pizzas were on the expensive, they were mostly pretty good and the garlic balls were like heaven on a hot and greasy slab. I would have given it a 4 the first few times, but those were delivery. One day, they could not deliver, so I went there and was able to witness a bunch of small children playing a rousing game of what I presume was tag in the kitchen area. The open ordering area looking into that kitchen, which was not at all what I would call clean, but having worked in kitchens before, I know how things can get, so I was leery, but not yet ready to punt entirely. At that moment, before the guy in the back rounded up., corralled and settled down the kids long enough to take my order, I would have given it a 3.
Regrettably after that, they started one of the most rapid downhill skids I’ve seen, from wrong orders to absurdly late orders to increasingly lower quality orders, all of which were particularly grating once they started charging for delivery. Still, we kept trying through all this consistency, because when they were on, you could still get a pretty good pie and there was that whole note much else around thing… at this point, they were still hanging onto a 3, but only by a thread. The final death knell toned once we got 4 deliveries in a row of such questionable quality that it bordered on not worth eating. That’s when it became a 2 and I never attempted them again.
The reason I’m being generous is because the staff there is really very nice. They are some of what I consider the better hosts for this type of restaurant and it’s a shame they can’t get it together foodwise. They have a very unique menu, with items rarely or never seen elsewhere. I truly hope their new location is going better for them, but I’ve been burned too many times to want to risk it again.

I haven’t eaten here in a couple years, and when I did, I was just visiting slc. Big Kahuna really sticks out in my mind for two reasons. One, their pizza is delicious, hearty, and addicting. But the second reason. Well, I had burned my hand (badly) directly before picking the pizza up. I was with a friend and the employees realized I had a wound and before I knew it they were patching me up and sending us off with some freebies. I have never experienced this degree of compassion from a business.

Someone ordered from Big Kahuna’s recently for an office lunch/​meeting a few weeks ago. I sampled cheese pizza and some amazing garlic cheese monkey bread looking stuff that was soooooo yuuuuummmmy. Garlic. Cheese. Bread. My three favorite dishes. The pizza was good too!

I tried a slice the other day and it was pretty good. Bacon, cheesey and soft sweet crust, all good things in my book.
Then I tried looking them up, and called to see if I could get dinner without going out tonight. I asked if there was a minimum for delivery, and they said no, since I was only a coupla blocks away. 5 minutes later sorry, we can’t deliver under $ 13. Well, I wasn’t that hungry tonight, so maybe I’ll have to try them again another day. Dangit!
Still giving them 3 stars for the taste I had, and the menu looks proper at least. They could earn more if they didn’t shun people’s pizza dreams.

Good prices, fast delivery. Overall, pretty good pizza.
