Fish 4 U

We pop in here about once a month to check out their salt water collections. They have one of the largest selections and cleanest environment we have seen. There has always been someone on staff that knows answers to our questions about which fish will work best in our tank and what items we need to add to keep our water levels where they need to be.

I wouldn’t have been able to start both of my freshwater tanks without these guys. They know their stuff, and in great detail. If they don’t know an answer — they’ll find out. At first I bought some fish from Petsmart, and the guy said he thinks they ‘should’ get along, and it ended very badly. But at fish4u they know all the dynamics of different schools and mixing and matching fish.
I can’t recommend them highly enough for all things fish.

This is far and away the most knowledgeable fish store in the state with the best customer service. The employees go above and beyond to educate their customers and help them be successful fish keepers. I’ve had lengthy conversations with the owners about different fish topics and they are truly passionate about the hobby. I don’t have any salt water tanks, but for community freshwater, planted tanks and African Cichlid tanks, i wouldn’t shop anywhere else. I’ve been a regular customer for about 8 years now and have 4 fish tanks. I have bought countless fish from fish4u over the years and compared with every other fish store, fish4u fish are healthier and longer lived. Their selection is also above average. It’s worth going to their store just to check out their beautiful display tanks. My one criticism is that they sometimes don’t have enough staff during their busy times, but it still beats trying to get someone to help you at Petsmart.

I don’t like how almost all their aquariums are filled with algae. It’s filthy and not good for the fish. The fish price is rather on the expensive side compared to petsmart which is supposed to be a corporate. Morimo balls are more expensive here than anywhere else. The frog I bought from there was aggressive. It’s kinda scuzzy and they don’t have that big of selections of fish. More than petco/​petsmart but bird world is da best on selections. Coworker bought fish that were infected with fungus once. Anyway to me, this place is rather depressing and way expensive.

Best fish store in the valley. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff, great guarantee on fish (7 days), plus they have a frequent shopper program.

I wanted to update everyone and let them know that our betta from Fish 4 U lived about twice the average life expectancy before passing away. The fish I have gotten from other suppliers are not nearly as healthy as the ones from Fish 4 U.

This place is great! My husband and I got a new tank for our family and we are new to aquariums. The staff here is very friendly and knowledgable. They have helped me acclimatize my tank and find hardy fish that are great for newbies. If you take a sample of your tank water in, they will test it for free, which is great! They also have a great rewards program, we got our first fish for free because of it.
I’m very impressed, the fish here are healthy and happy. As a kid, I had a fish tank and saw all kinds of disease ravage my fish (because I didn’t know what I was doing). When I go to Petco and Petsmart, I see fish with white spots from disease and dead fish in the tanks. At Fish 4 U, I didn’t see any diseased fish. I think this is a great local aquarium store!

Worst Customer Service. We have spent alot of money buying from this store. We talked to the owners about some issues with their employees selling us the wrong items, employees who have the I don’t care attitudes, fish dying before we got home and other issues. The owners did not care about what we were saying. They were full of excuses for their own employees and products. The owners did not offer any compensation or even a «I am sorry» for all what has happened. (Worst Customer Service) I don’t know how or why others would want to buy from a store like this who don’t care how they treat their customers. I would recommend finding another fish store who the owners actually care about doing the right thing by trying to keep their customers. Treating their customers like crap is so disrespectablie.
(A few weeks later after I wrote this review. My review was my own review with only my name on it. When a family member chose to buy some things at the store, they refused to allow him to buy the items. He did not even write the review, I did. So wrong to treat him unfairly and refuse service to a family member of mine who did not write the review. Fine, you don’t like to hear the truth and how I felt but how low to treat a member of my family with disrespect also. That just shows you that standing up for what I did by making a truthful review about how horrible the customer service was there and other things on a certain day. The owners would rather lose paying regular customers than apologize and be willing to work with the customers. So, when the owners do not own up to how unfair customers were treated which me shows disrespect. I have worked in retail, I always made an effort to work with the customers because that is called respect and good customer service.)

One of my favorite places for aquatic gardening. They have a great selection of fresh water fish and plants for a planted aquarium. The staff has always been friendly and knowledgable and despite the bad review below I’ve never had an issue. I’ve only needed to return an item one time and the gave me 100% on store credit so I’m not sure if the review was 100% accurate or if frustration played a part.

Best LFS in the valley. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful for solving any problems you have.
There is a good selection of salt and fresh fish, not quite as much as a few other stores but these are the most healthy and happy. I’ve never brought home an infected fish from here.
They have a few not for sale tanks that I’ve personally used for some fantastic ideas at home. They have the greatest variety of tank plants and all growing beautifully so you don’t have to coax a half dead plant back to life in your own tank.
They have the best selection on accessories for freshwater and on par with the other LFS for saltwater, so if you’re starting a home tank start here. Ask lots of questions, the woman who (I think) owns the place will educate you on anything you need.

BEWARE– If I could give this zero stars I would. To start I wanted a salt water set up. Going to Fish 4 U was the only store close to my house and I had high hopes that the employees could help me get everything I needed for a setup after the one I bought on KSL was a POS. First off I spent over $ 3k on the tank, stand, sump and lights. Being a beginner in the saltwater fish world and was told they are very hard to keep maintained I went in with high hopes their knowledge in the matter would make this a breeze. WRONG. They sold me a fresh water aquarium tank with a sump refugium that hangs over the side of the tank. Bulk head fitting was cracked in the first kit we got, took it back and owner said there was no way that it could have cracked. Told him that we didnt crack it, it was already cracked in the box. Finally replaced part after a lecture from the owner of how impossible that was. Sold me a light knowing that it was going underneath a hood to the setup. Light melted. Went in and talked to the owner and he said he could not take it back but could give me a 80% refund? So they dont back up anything that they sell on equipment. Another problem I had was the light for the sump went out a week after I bought it and when I took it back in the box they asked me for the receipt and he said «ya these have a problem with going out for no reason, they’re not good lights» and had to call the owner to ask if they could replace it. Really? Your selling things that you know are defective? Now let me just say this has all happened in the course of 3 months, everyone there knew who I was and what my setup needs were I mean I was in there ALOT. If I am spending over $ 3k in a day for a setup not to mention fish, rocks, food and chemicals on top of that dont you think you could honor my purchases by replacing things that melt, malfunction or break on your sale? I am soo upset that I am being sold freshwater setup items for saltwater needs. This sump hose has leaked all over the floor after a second replacement of the bulk head fitting was replaced.
DO NOT SHOP HERE. If you want quality equipment and knowledgable salesmen go somewhere else. No one in the store is on the same page as far as care and maintenance goes. They have completely jaded me by selling me cheap equipment that ruined my experience,

When you walk in, it kind of feels like you’re under water. It’s dark, and humid. I mean, it kind of has to be that way because they sell tropical fish and they probably want the fish to feel at home. I’m not an expert on fish, other than I like sushi, which is probably inappropriate to mention at this juncture, but whatever.
My child wanted to buy a betta, so we came here. The workers were friendly, they had all kinds of supplies and decorative things to really make a fishy house a home. Lots of comfy looking rocks and treasure chests and bowls and tanks in a variety of sizes and shapes to match the décor of most people houses they will be abiding in.
The store’s merchandising didn’t make a lot of sense to me, but again, I’m not a fish. The folks working there probably know where everything is so if you don’t feel like hunting (it isn’t a big shop so the hunting is minimal) they know right where things are and are happy to make product recommendations if you need them.
Overall, if I ever found myself needing fish friends or fish homes, this is the place I would come to again.
