The ladies answered all of my silly questions. They also helped my dog get some new food to help with weight control. I feel like they were so much more knowledgable than people at the big pet stores. You can tell the people here are passionate about animals!
Also they have good hook ups! Like point programs, Unilocal deals, etc.

Really great bakery for dog treats! I was able to find a «Happy Birthday» bone for my dogs birthday. A lot of other great stuff as well like a party hat, party collar and a bunch of fresh baked treats. I love a store that has cute stuff for my dog.

Love this place. Super friendly staff, they’ll love on your dog while helping you find good food and treats for them. The bakery makes healthy and fun treats from scratch that are dog friendly. My pup loves them.

As a place to get dog food and treats, they are fantastic. I’ve not had a bad experience with the staff. Generally, it’s first class.
I don’t live anywhere near here. It’s a special trip for us. Even though I don’t know a place that does a better selection of food, I don’t buy mine here. Normally, I would have a hard time figuring what to get and need help selecting a choice, but I get raw food from another place in Park City, so what do I know?
One thing they have better than anywhere else is fresh frozen marrow bones of the right size for our dog. She loves them as a treat. They are human quality, so I’m often on the edge of cooking them up for myself. I haven’t yet. Previously, I would get harmons to cut some up, but it was always a process to get it done. No longer.
There are always great choices for treats you just don’t see anywhere else.

My dog absolutely LOVES the treats and snacks this place bakes up! Just approaching the front entrance Loli goes nuts :) When we get inside she goes into full riot dog mode. If you want the best for your domesticated wolf then look no further!

The service was just okay. Girl on the phone was kinda snotty. I have only been once, to order a birthday pizza and my doggie loved it so i’m sure I will visit again, however, their customer service could use some help.

Really like the friendly staff. Diane was very helpful, especially when I used the Unilocal coupon which is a really great deal! Love that they are willing to help carry out your big dog food bags too! Always a great experience at Ma and Paws!

The name says it all– this is a small mom & pop shop, don’t expect a fancy, clean Sprinkles-​esque bakery with pretty lighting. They have a small place, but they have packed it FULL with anything you might be looking for. I have brought my dog in every year on her birthday (3 years today) to pick up a special treat on our way to the dog park, and we have never been disappointed. She particularly likes the assorted box of baked goods, pizza slices, «Good Dog» cookie, and sweet potato ice cream. With cheap & reasonable prices too, it’s hard not to stock up while I’m there.

I took my dog here for his third birthday. Yes, I am one of those dog people. I wanted him to pick out a few of their bakery treats to enjoy for his special day.
To start, the place is so awkward. It is cramped, with merchandise from floor to ceiling, wall to wall. There are toys, treats and food everywhere. It took a minute to even find the counter. To call it a bakery is a stretch. It is more of a pet store with a little bit of a bakery selection. That said, the bakery goods are great quality, with wholesome ingredients sure to please any pup. The prices are incredibly low, much lower that I expected. I walked out of there with a bag full of freshly baked treats for around $ 5. The staff was sort of nice, but not friendly.
There is a check-​in offer with Unilocal.If you check in you get two free treats with any purchase. The woman behind the counter seemed really upset that I was redeeming the offer. So, if you do ckeck-​in, be prepared to get scowled at for wanting your free treats.

If for no other reason (I’ll get to those reasons in a second) you should at least give Ma & Paws a try for their doggy treats. We’re not talking about the premade, prepackaged deals. No, we’re talking about the doggy bakery fresh from the refrigerator case variety. They smell so good that I want to give them a try. I haven’t yet. but when my fridge gets down to that last half-​jar of pickles and stale tortillas don’t put it past me.
Now, there are indeed other reasons to give these guys a visit. As others have mentioned, it’s a good place to buy that hard-​to-​find dog food that some of the big boys don’t carry. They also have a small selection of doggy accessories including leashes and collars. I don’t do the supplements, but if you’re looking for pet supplements they do have them here. Can’t vouch for quality or price.
I suppose, begrudgingly, that I must also admit they do have some cat items. I got nothing against cats, I just don’t get real enthused by them. So that makes the feeling mutual.
This is a fun little shop that’s worth a try if you can’t find what you need at a major pet store or if you want to support the little guy.

Combative clerk proceeded to question the advice of my trainer. The more I questioned her about why she disagreed the more angry she became, and became unwilling to help me find the treats and leash I needed. I like to support local merchants and look for natural alternatives for my dogs. Apparently the clerk knows what’s best for my dogs, more than my trainer who has over 20 years’ experience. Good thing I have other options for treats and supplies, I’ve taken my business to The Dog’s Meow (Great service and a more varied selection).

So many other reviewers had the same good things to say!
Having recently moved to Salt Lake City, our old dog food brand is not sold regionally here so we needed to switch our dog’s food. The woman working checked first to make sure she couldn’t special order it here, and then looked up the brand to find the most comparable choice in food with regards to protein content and a gluten allergy.
She bent over backwards for us, checked prices and food content, let us take our time and make our own decision with all the information. Really nice experience for us. Our dogs love the food we landed on, and we will be going back to MA and Paws!

I am writing this review for my dogs. They told me to put 5 stars. They would like to say woof woof bark woof bark bark bark woof… grrrrr growl grrr. sorry a little fight over food. My dogs are eating better than I am, anyone want to adopt two 120 lb. lap dogs? Their diet consists of nothing but the best, which means I am eating top ramen at the utah noodle parlor.

Very friendly, very helpful, carry a TON of hard-​to-​find dog foods (particularly Canidae and raw diet frozen foods), plus the amazing bakery. Cute leashes and collars, and usually a dog hanging out behind the counter, waiting for a pat on the head.

After our cat got inexplicably ill, I was looking to change to a grain-​free cat food and settled on EVO brand cat food. Ma and Paws is one of the few spots in SLC that carries this brand of high-​end cat food so off I went to the store.
Also, our cat absolutely loves «fresh» water; she really only drinks from a bowl in the shower. But that doesnt do too well when we are traveling and I’ve been concerned she wasnt getting enough water.
So, while at the store, I asked about pet water fountains (the kind with a pump that produces ever flowing water). They had one Petmate Deluxe Fresh Flow Fountain left. Previously, I tried a similar style (different brand) water dish but the motor was so loud we ended up giving it away. When I asked how loud the motor on this brand was, the very helpful woman opened up all the packaging and tested the motor right there in the store (very quiet!). She then offered me 20% off and return-​if-​it-​doesnt-​work-​out assurance. I took her up on the offer.
The cat LOVES the water fountain. We love the water fountain because it is quiet and there arent so many muddy paw prints in the shower. and I went away from that shopping experience being very impressed with the quality of products Ma and Paws carries as well as the great customer service. now if only we had a dog to buy those yummy smelling treats…

Our little Sophie only eats organic, small bites dog food (our choice, she isn’t that picky). Sounds easy enough, but this stuff is hard to find! Not at Wild Oats, not at Petsmart and not at Petco. So after an intensive search online I found that Ma and Paw’s carries what I need.
But wait, where are they? down on 33^rd South and about 11^th East. I live downtown… So once a month I make the drive. I know it doesn’t sound far, but I live downtown and that is below 21^st. Isn’t that a whole other world down there???
After the looooonnnnnnggggg drive (ok, I stop between client appointments, but still…) I pull into the parking lot of this little non descript strip mall and the store is on the Southwest corner. I walk in and the place just does not radiate warmth or cleanliness. I know they bake dog treats, but it should still seem clean, so I knock off a star. It is not organized and product is stacked everywhere.
So the best thing about this place is that they offer a great selection of large and small bites dog food in Natural and organic formulas. You can get wheat free formulas and 100% meet formulas and never have to worry about melamine again. They also have a good selection of leashes, toys and other items you may need.
The service is jovial and helpful and always friendly.
