Negative points for the small size and 20+ wait time-but the food is awesome, I have not left disappointed.

Second time here. First time was awesome. Ordered Shrimp and grits this time. Shrimp, bacon, green onion, perfect seasoning, and the grits were like whipped polenta. What’s not to like? Unbelievable. My wife was super jealous. Maybe one of the best meals I have had in SLC, like ever. Yes. And I have lived here 44 yrs.

This place is freakin bomb ok. I originally found it on Unilocal and these two items on the menu were calling my husband and I’s name. The lemon pancakes will knock your socks off be sure to give it a try. And we shared so the sweet and savory between the two meals here were superb!

We ordered the lemon pancakes and biscuits and gravy for the first time there. They were so delicious as well as the good coffee. Next time I will try there shrimp and grits.

My husband and I enjoyed the décor and being seated by the fire place. I ordered shrimp and grits. He ordered the Lazy Day Deluxe. We each had a lemon pancake. The food was amazing(shrimp and grits takes top spot), the service was fast and friendly. The hash browns were somehow both mashed and burnt but neither of us cared as there was plenty of food without that. Will definitely be coming back.

I just found this little café, it’s so cute and quaint. Service is friendly, engaging. Little hard to find its tucked in the back of a strip mall. The Lemon Pancakes are The Grand. It comes with a special syrup that has you wanting to lick your fingers.

Food was. okay. Hashbrowns burnt and room temperature. Sat near the kitchen counter and heard all the food going back to be remade or warmed up.

First time here, cannot figure out for the life of me how this place got such good reviews. Just had their daily special of Huevos Rancheros. They used one of those round hard torta shells you see at the supermarket, then cooked it more to wear it was impenetrable. Overcooked the 2 simple eggs on top to where they were hard-boiled and tossed some black beans on it. I told the waitress I about the issues and that I wanted to order something else. She gave me a menu and didn’t come back until the end when she dropped the check. My wife’s eggs Benedict was pretty anti-climactic, and that’s hard to screw up :/ We’re local, so no we know where not to come… And it only cost us $ 50 to find out! Head three blocks up the road to Millcreek Café & Eggworks… They NAIL it everytime and have FRESH food, A+ everytime.

Excellent food at reasonable breakfast prices. I really enjoy their biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash and the special I had this morning, breakfast sliders on croissants. Great service(especially John… ask for a hot sauce recommendation!). My coffee has yet to reach empty on any of my four visits. Only issue, watch your egg order-over easy eggs sometimes have runny whites, and over medium are sometimes hard.

The food hit the spot! I had the Lazy Day Breakfast which was perfect. The bacon was cooked just how I liked it which I appreciate because even when I ask for it to be a certain way most places still don’t cook it how I asked. The potatoes were crispy but not too crispy and the eggs were just the way I wanted them. My friend got their lemon pancakes which when they came out it almost had me questioning my order. They looked so light and fluffy and I know she really enjoyed them. The service here was amazing. There were two younger guys waiting on us and they were consistent with checking in on us but not over the top. My friend and I hadn’t seen each other for a while so after we finished our meal we were chatting. They were not pushy at all or trying to get us to leave to fill our table. One of the waiters even kept playing with and making faces with my friends little boy. It was a great meal and I will for sure be coming back here again!

I have been wanting to try this place for quite some time. And what do you know? On a lazy Friday after getting off work we decided to finally stop by. It was nestled in a little corner in a strip mall. Immediately after stepping in I realized we were about 30 to 40 years younger than anyone in there. It was quite busy as almost all the tables and the«bar» was full. Our waiter was also attentive and very friendly. Now to the best part, the food! Everything was so flavorful. I loved both what I ordered, the shrimp & grits and the pork chili verde burrito. I’m not a picky easter but I am very picky with grits. And I loved these. So much flavor. The beignets were a little doughy but good with the coffee that was served. I will have to come back to try the lemon pancakes I’ve been reading about.

Super delicious place. I had the lazy day deluxe which made for a great choice. Their hash browns don’t need any katchup nor hot sauce they’re so good! I also ordered the scones because I had to try them. Also another great choice… His is now my new favorite place to go for breakfast.

Know what? I’m a pretty lucky guy. I’ve realized that more and more lately. Life is pretty amazing. I’m surrounded by good people, I’m healthy, and I have no reason to complain. Want to know how I know I’m happy and that life is so fan-diddly-tastic? It’s places like Lazy Day Café. Here sits a place whose sole purpose, as far as I can tell, is to offer up a delightful menu of breakfast and brunch favorites, to folks lucky enough to stop in. I mean, it’s in the name, right? Lazy Day Café? If you’re lucky enough in your life to have a lazy day, why not spend it in brunch? Breakfast out for no reason except to go out, is one of the highest signs of your life being pretty great. Such was my luck when I FINALLY tried this little spot, tucked away in the back of the Ivy Place development. It was a lazy Saturday, and there I was on the patio, catching up with a friend, and thinking about how terrific my life was if the biggest problem I could think of was whether to go with the much-heralded lemon pancakes, or the full-on Lazy Deluxe. The Deluxe won the day, and I was promptly delivered a biscuit top and bottom, with a breaded chicken breast, bacon, gravy, and an egg in between, with a order of hash browns sidles up next to this stack on the side. While I tend to agree with the wisdom of dark meat, I dug right in to the white meat breast, and again I felt pretty lucky. Lucky to be where I am, where even a simple biscuits and chicken and gravy sandwich dripping with the pierced egg yolk can still make me so happy. And as if I wasn’t already hogging the fortunate line, I was thankful I got to try the lemon pancakes. Yep, they’re worth the discussion. I mean, they’re not gimmicky lemon, they’re full lemon. The real deal. This bright spot on my already great day, on my already great week, on what’s feeling like a pretty fortunate life. I don’t take for granted those lemon pancakes and what they mean. Go taste some of the good life. Take the extra time. Spend a few more bucks(and I only mean a few – prices are pretty reasonable) and soak it in. Epilogue: I went home and immediately after this, things got even better. I mean, life is pretty sweet when you eat at Lazy Day and your day gets even better later on.

A year and a half-ish removed from the last visit and they seem a lot more back in order. Lots of staff, which seemed to serve for expediting as well as being heavily involved in a positive customer experience and they have added patio tables. It feels almost as if they’ve decided to run a restaurant instead of treating it like a lackadaisical hobby. Most of the issues from last time are gone now, other than over-medium eggs apparently means over-hard. Given Utah in general’s difficulty managing eggs correctly, this isn’t too surprising. They also probably need to re-assess their prep. Running out of a few main dishes by 12:30 or earlier, when you’re primarily a breakfast spot, is not really desirable. 1:00 would be fine and they should fine tune that a bit more. I’m all for low waste and I applaud them for that worthy goal, but I think they’re a little too far over there. All that aside, it did give me a chance to try the shrimp and grits, which were interesting and worlds better than anything else I’ve had in the city grits-wise. Shrimp was spicier than expected and I would have liked either a bit more bacon or cheese, but that’s mostly minor nit-picking. This wouldn’t be my first choice, but it was a decent substitute. The lemon pancakes, the perennial star here, were back to be doing to perfection. My wife liked whatever plate of vegetables she wound up getting and her sides of toast were also on the money. She is also a raving fan of their coffee, so if you’re into that, there you go. Evidently, it’s not one you can buy commercially… All in all, while not ready to add them back onto the other list just yet, as they still have a ways of ground to go yet, I am adding them back into the regular rotation.

Mine and my boyfriends very favorite breakfast joint. We both order the shrimp & grits and a lemon pancake on the side. We have tried shrimp and grits in other states and this one is by far the best. The lemon pancakes are hands down the tastiest pancakes I have ever had. I love them so much that they are my profile picture on instagram.

On our last day in Salt Lake, we decided to hit up Lazy Day Café on our way to the airport. We were welcomed by a homey dining room with amazing coffee. For food, I ordered the veggie omelette(Spinach, onions, peppers, mushrooms) with feta cheese. It came with hash browns — They were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside as well as mysteriously flavourful. I also ordered a side of sausage. Their homemade sausage patties aren’t your typical breakfast sausage — They are meaty and herby, not overly salty or greasy. My friend wasn’t into that as much as I was but it really depends what you’re expecting. Overall, I’d love to go to Lazy Day Café again and I’d certainly recommend it!

Came here on a Friday for breakfast. It’s a cozy and cute café parked in the corner of a plaza with other local shops. I ordered the lazy day deluxe and my bf got the breakfast burrito. Omg both were HUGE but oh so good. I liked his burrito better because of the chile verde smothering it. We also had to get one of the kids portions of their famous lemon pancakes. Holy crap. Seriously one of the best pancakes I’ve ever had. This place is definitely a must for exactly one of those lazy days

It’s not that it was terrible, but it wasn’t extraordinary either. I think that Lazy Day Café has the potential of being as good as many of the other restaurants along 3300 South. I could be wrong, but no doubt that on this particular visit it was not only hostile, but it was also a little bit too much for my taste; a combination of those two things is going to knock down this review a couple stars. There isn’t much of a waiting area in this location, which is tough if you’re coming in a big group(which I would highly avoid). I came alone on a Saturday and as I stood, the below freezing chill poured in. The little«waiting area» near the front has the door opening and closing non-stop during the early morning rush. You actually have to wait to be seated and yet, there was no host at the front for several minutes; in fact, the«host» was waiting tables at the same time. Yes, it was daunting to watch. Tell me how this is a functional«breakfast house» when people are trying to cram inside to stay warm and eventually sit down to eat with no order(pun intended)? Anywho, this group of gals came in after myself and another couple. The host, looking a little overhwhelmed took their names first, before mine and the couple who came in before I did. It wasn’t a big deal to me, but I could tell the gentleman waiting with his girl, was very off put. As he confronted the host, the host had very little to say, and awkwardly defended his actions by seating those women first. I’m not a confrontational person, especially when food is involved, but surely the host should have something a little better to say than«Sorry, Man.» Maybe get another person at the front to strictly handle patrons trying to get a table? Nevertheless, myself and then the couple were seated. After all that, I enjoyed the Lazy Day special: Eggs, Hashbrowns, Bacon, and a Lemon Pancake. There is sort of a novelty to this, as I’ve never tried Lemon Pancakes before. Yet, it was good! The rest I could do elsewhere. Unfortunately, due to the events mentioned above, I really just wanted to get out of there. My waitress, she was awesome and funny too! But at this point, where waiting actually took longer than the food and service combined, I am pretty sure I will be skipping this place next time.
