Very beautiful meadow, we chose log haven to do our wedding ceremony in May of this year. The ladies were very pleasant and seemed helpful up until the day of our wedding. They billed us twice claiming they miscalculated tax rates. They promised us a back up tent in case of rain which turned out to be a tent in the parking lot facing the road. Day of the ceremony guests were running a bit late due to traffic, rain, and hail. The ladies of log haven were not helpful or friendly they were passive aggressive and pushy even though we rented the space with plenty of time left. Stressed out the bride and created an overall stressful experience. Would not recommend would not go back. Do yourself a favor save the money and get married further up the canyon

We’ve always had a great experience at Log Haven. It’s hard not to in that beautiful setting. Our recent visit, though, had a few missteps. The first two are minor: Instead of a bread basket on the table, you were given one roll by your server. I found this odd but perhaps it’s a waste saving measure. Second, My dish had polenta under the meat on the plate which was surrounded by a broth. All of it was delicious but I was deprived of much of the polenta because it had merged with the broth and I was not given a spoon. Both of these are minor things that I could have resolved myself. The third issue was more serious. In our party was a person who follows a vegan diet. I contacted the restaurant the day before to find out if there were any suitable dishes for her. I was enthusiastically told that there were and that our server would be told ahead of time. Well, she got the gluten free menu and our server, who was excellent in all other respects, had to visit the kitchen several times to determine if there were any vegan or vegan-friendly dishes. There was one salad, one entrée(the cauliflower) and one dessert(the sorbet). It was really disappointing-the lack of options, not the food itself. I understand that a restaurant can’t be all things to all people and I do not expect Log Haven to cater to vegans. I only ask for clear and accurate informations about your offerings.

Let me first say, this is an expensive meal. With that being said, the quality was not there for the price. When you are paying 70 bucks a person you expect the Bison not to be overcooked. You expect the steak not to be overcooked and tuff. You should have proper seasoning — yet this is what I encountered on my visit on April 302016.(As a side note the bread was terrible. A small detail that lessens the overall meal.) Also the dessert had black berries that were wilted and gross. Don’t plate a subpar ingredient! I give this place two stars for the atmosphere. My recommendation is simply go to La Caille when it’s not a buffet, or even better, Tiburon(the Elk there is wonderful)

I loved absolutely every moment. The wait staff were incredible, the food was a labor of love and dedication to the integrity of each ingredient provided by God himself. And, the pianist was every bit as good as my late uncle. I haven’t heard anyone play the way he did since he passed. I had tears welling in my eyes listening to songs played like he played at the Manhattan for years in downtown salt lake. I had the pleasure of learning how the chef and one part owner forage locally by Ian himself. Please forgive if I mistook his name. The wine was very good. I recommend straight line syrah if you’re going to order the alpine nachos and the current 21 year anniversary special sirloin and lobster. My flourless chocolate dessert was the perfect end to a wonderful evening. I will definitely be returning soon. Thank you! You made our 7th anniversary unforgettable.

A must stop when we’re in Salt Lake and looking for a good dinner out with friends. Tonight they had a great deal on a steak and lobster special. Our friend enjoyed a goose pasta. Several other unique dishes. Ask if you can sit in the library-cozy and quiet.

Is there a more romantic place in Utah? I doubt it. Alpine Nachos-Sooo good Smoked Goose-You bet! Bacon Wrapped Elk Strip-I’d eat it again right now if I could. Excellent staff with great knowledge of the menu and wine list.

I had high expectations for Log Haven. After all, my wife and I don’t eat at places like this all that often, but were there as part of a once-in-a-decade-Valentine’s-Day-blowout. Every expectation was met, and then some. Beautiful location? Check. Picturesque building? Check. AMAZING food? Check. Great service with a smile? Check. The Alpine Nachos that everyone raves about were better than advertised. Trust me, if you make it up to Log Haven, splurge on them as your appetizer. My wife had the goose breast, and I had the bison. There was a slight mix up with my order; I thought I had ordered the elk steak, while my server, Clayton(who was terrific) heard bison. I wasn’t upset, though, since I had narrowed my choices down to the two anyway, and the bison ended up being wonderful.(They offered to make me the elk instead, but I chose to stick with the bison.) We finished with a lovely variation of a Mille-feuille and a pot of coffee. It was a night we’ll remember for a long time… and we’ll be back!

This restaurant is so cute. My boyfriend and I were in town to check out Sundance. I made reservations for Log Haven about two weeks in advance. After exploring Park City Utah on Saturday, we drove through the mountains to eat at Log Haven. Being from California, the mountains here are GORGEOUS during the Winter. We lost cell phone signal and we were the only ones driving on the road. It was a ton of fun. The ambiance is amazing and service is great. We asked our waitress for suggestions and ultimately ended up ordering the alpine nachos, bison steak with bacon, and the goose papparadelle. The alpine nachos were deliciousss. It was topped with speck and drizzled with white truffle oil. UGh. Ultimately, DO come here to enjoy the scenery and food. I miss Utah already.

If we are talking ambiance and how charming this place is then yes it would get five stars. It is tucked up mill creek canyon in this serene wood with the cutest twinkling lights and total secluded cabin feel and a breathtaking waterfall outside. However, most of that was ruined when the GM, or whoever the manager working that night(January 16) was a total dick! He made a big deal and huffed and puffed over a high chair. Wtf? Also, I understand this is fine dining, but who the hell charges for free refills on soft drinks? Really? I got charged for every Diet Coke I drank and the glasses are half the normal size and so full of ice! THEYALSOFAILEDTOMENTIONTHIS! They kept bringing drinks and when we got the bill we realized. That is not right. Usually a menu or the server should specify. Our server even brought me ones without asking and also took forever and he was only serving two tables. Lastly, we went to celebrate my birthday and while it was gorgeous and delicious, they brought me a piece of chocolate. Um thanks? Don’t bring me anything at all. Or just give me a free Diet Coke. I also ordered a salad that I NEVER received. The maple one and the server even wrote it down and said«you’ll love it.» I didn’t pay the bill so I don’t even know if we paid for it which I’m sure we did since this place is stinge. IF I return, and that’s a big IF, it would only be for drinks and the nachos. And if the manager rolls his eyes at me again I will call him out on it. Pretty sad that such an amazing restaurant has such poor customer service. We all ordered appetizers, one that I never got, and entrees and everyone got a dessert and the bill would have been worth it had we gotten impeccable treatment and service and attention and we were informed that every soda was going to be a charge.

This was a great restaurant experience. FYI, this is not in Salt Lake, but about three miles up the canyon. The restaurant only has valet parking, which doesn’t have a charge but you can add the tip to your credit card bill inside if you just write it out and designate it to the valet(useful to know if you’re not carrying cash). The setting is wonderful, up in the mountains with the snow and a waterfall view from the dining area. There is no dress code. There is a small waiting area that is on the other side of the dining area with a large fireplace that is in between both rooms which is a nice setting. I split two items, an appetizer and a entrée, and the meal came with an assortment of bread with specialty butter. By the end of the experience I was full. The food I felt was top notch, and the dishes I had were as follows: Alpine Nachos(shared with a friend) — house chips, forest mushrooms, speck, fontina. This was really interesting, the chips were normal home made potato chips with the fontina cheese which is a little bit sharper which was nice and the mushrooms on the nachos were generous. «Speck» is a really thin bacon just in case you’re wondering. Bacon Wrapped Elk Strip Steak*(split with a friend) — butternut amandine, fingerling yams, pomegranate sauce. The steak was really great, and it is nice getting a red meat that isn’t ordinary. The fingerling yams and butternut amandine were very good and I think they were the first thing that disappeared from my plate. The pomegranate sauce was good, and I don’t know if it wasn’t mixed well, but sometimes the pomegranate taste was much stronger than others(when the pomegranate taste wasn’t coming through it tasted like a fancy A1 sauce). The service was probably an area I felt the restaurant was lacking. Our server struggled to provide suggestions and kind of gave us a «well we change the menu a lot». I would expect that in a restaurant like this the server would have tried all the dishes so that they could make suggestions. Another thing to point out is the service staff didn’t look very professional, they mostly looked like seasonal employees in their late teens early twenties. This is a contrast to other fine dining experiences where the professional staff is a wonderful part of the experience.

Love Log Haven. Great food, great ambiance. But was frustrated that we were charged for 7 soft drinks without our server mentioning a word to us that refills were not free. Every other nice restaurant(Franck’s, Tree Room, Ruth’s Chris, Shula’s, etc) I’ve been to in ages doesn’t charge for refills. No one expects to be charged for refills anymore. Talked to the GM and he didn’t even offer to make it right. Shocking. Granted, it’s only a $ 3-$ 4 difference in our overall bill. And we will go back. But the menu or the server should be upfront with patrons instead of surprising them at the end.

Log Haven The drive through the Canyon can a bit intimidating. I couldn’t tell if I was going the right way or not. Good thing that there’s a valet once you arrive. Upon entry, you are greeted with the restaurant’s accolades. The waiting area next to the fireplace is quite nice and cozy especially when it’s surrounded by the Christmas décor. Being seated in the middle of the restaurant I can see all of the action from other tables. Every single table has a nice table placement. Menu is informative about the restaurant’s history and a good selection of food. The hummus with the Asiago bread arrived warm and toasty. Unsure how fresh the tuna was on my tuna tartare but was well hidden enough by the other parts of the meal. Brussels sprouts were perfectly cooked with bacon. My char salmon was accommodated with creamy sauce and vegetables. Overall, it’s a well deserved 4.7 star restaurant.

Often labeled as Utah’s most beautiful restaurant, Log Haven is enchanting. Nestled amongst the mountains of the Wasatch Range, a scant 25 minutes from downtown SLC, the elegantly appointed log cabin welcomes you in all seasons. On this particular evening, the mountain approach to the restaurant had a sprinkling of snow, making the drive special and lovely. As we pulled up to the free valet parking, the sound of the waterfall across the way helped us understand why«haven» is a perfect nomenclature. Log Haven is rustic elegance, and the crackling fireplace, white linen clad tables, and nattily attired staff enhanced the sophisticated ambiance. Too many times restaurants as gorgeous as Log Haven become tourist attractions and the food suffers. This is not the case at Log Haven. The gourmet, mountain influenced cooking is delicious, with a unique array of choices such as Elk, Bison, Trout etc. Our appetizer Arencini(rice balls) were wonderful, with just the right amount of kick. The tuna tartare was sublime. The steak and lobster combo was prepared beautifully, but unfortunately I found my Elk a bit bland, more the fault of the meat itself, rather than the chef. Desserts were great. Service was warm and professional, and our server Jason had that European aplomb. Log Haven’s wine list was eclectic and well priced. Log Haven is authentically enchanting and is perfect for that special moment. It brings out the lover in all of us.

i’ve been here several times for weddings and it’s a beautiful place to have your ceremony and reception. the food is always good and it’s so peaceful up here. on my most recent visit, we did a girl’s night here to celebrate a friend’s upcoming wedding. this place is far east on millcreek canyon road and will be a few miles past millcreek inn. just keep in mind that most likely you won’t have reception here — cell or data. there is parking on the north side of the street where the restaurant is or you can valet park. you do have to pay to come up on this road, but log haven will give you a validation ticket that you give the booth on your way out of the canyon. i let the server know about my gluten allergy and she went through the menu with me to let me know what i could order. there were so many options and they all sounded so good! since i’m currently attempting to eat more vegetables, my appetizer was a salad. it’s described as: arugula, avocado, grana padano, pine nuts, lemon, and olive oil. now i’m not a salad eater, but this was pretty good. in fact, i ate almost all of it, before realizing that i had rudely not asked anyone else if they wanted to try some. for my entrée i had the grilled yellowfish tuna which was quite delicious! perfectly cooked and i finished all my veggies on this plate too! for dessert i was quite excited to try their 74% dark chocolate mint sorbet with macerated strawberries. it was just as described and not too sweet at all. it was rich and light at the same time, with a bit of berry flavor from the strawberry. i believe our party of 6 all enjoyed everything we ordered. i sampled some of julie v.‘s alpine nachos and plan on coming back for that one day. the service was excellent and we accidentally stayed past their closing time, but we never felt rushed. at one point early on in our dinner, an older gentleman actually came to our table with blankets, and gave them to the guests that did not have sweaters or jackets on. wow i was really impressed — i’ve never seen a restaurant do that before. i got two blankets — one for my lap/legs and one to wrap around my shoulder. i really appreciated it and it made sitting outside perfect.

I absolutely love this place! Atmosphere: Beautifully hidden in the mountains with an amazing waterfall right outside. Extremely romantic. Food: Filet with lobster was phenomenal. Beautifully cooked and the steak was coated with a slight sweet vinegar. Also the bison had a great depth of flavor. The entire plate went well together and the grits on it was savory. We ended with the Panna Cotta which had a mildly sweet flavor with airy texture. Service: Our waiter was accommodating and not overly annoying Summary: It’s a must try especially on a date.

Had a great time here for my wife’s birthday. The valet was complimentary you are just required to tip. Our server was probably one of the best servers I have ever had. I think his name was Clayton… He did an exceptional job! The food was great I had the pork and my wife the filet. For an appetizer we had the calamari which was a huge winner. I’ve had grilled calamari but the way they did it was so out of this world I’m still thinking about it. It tasted so fresh and had the perfect hint of smokiness from the grill. I think next time I would try the halibut I couldn’t finish my pork.

The food was good, but service not so much. My company spends thousands here every year and my last visit was very disappointing. Multiple members of my party were served the wrong entrees. Some could be shuffled to the correct person, but in one person’s case the dish was entirely wrong and he had to wait once again for the correct entrée to be prepared. Also, I requested change from the bartender so I could tip the valet — she was reading a book and still refused to get up and give me change, this despite me dropping more than $ 1000 on our dinner tab. This is completely unacceptable service for a high end restaurant. Update: I’ve increased my rating to four stars after having received a very thoughtful and professional phone call and note from Stephan the manager. It is now clear to me the management at Log Haven run an excellent establishment, which, like any, on occasion may have an off day. Their efforts to make amends are much appreciated and I certainly expect to return.

A must stop when visiting the area. The food is out of this world, the atmosphere incredible and the service was the finest. Apparently the locals know this place and I would not be surprised if they don’t want visitors to know. A beautiful drive through a national park and you find this treasure. Don’t fret the entry fee to the park, the restaurant will give you a voucher to leave for free. I have visited more 4 diamond restaurant s than I can count and none have been as remarkable as Log Haven. Some highlights: venison tartare, an unbelievable pork loin with a polenta cake, and coconut/pineapple soufflé. Ask for Kacey and get the best service around. Beautiful waterfall, gorgeous location, wonderfully restored and decorated with chefs who should be commended. Will be back and will be sending all of my friends and business associates.

Ambiance and service is top-notch. Some of the best in Utah. The food? Some odd flavors and some overdone, but we still really enjoyed our experience. Our visit in March for our anniversary was our first time to Log Haven. The atmosphere is amazing and really quite impressive. They have live music on the weekends and the pianist was the perfect romantic touch. The service is perfect — we were seated by the host in the romantic waiting area by the piano and enjoyed a quiet moment before being seated, and our server was professional, knew everything about the menu and gave us wine suggestions, and had perfect timing checking in(enough but not too much). Though it was busy when we were there, the tables are spaced well in the dining room and we always felt we had enough privacy. The whole restaurant(including the restrooms) is beautiful, clean, and cozy. It manages to feel like a rustic cabin getaway and a glitzy four-star restaurant with a view at the same time. I have not experienced better service anywhere else in Utah — Log Haven is really unparalleled. Our food and drinks were very good but we felt some of it was just missing those final detailed touches and some was just overdone. — My husband’s wine(a riesling, if I remember correctly) was very good — great pairing by our waitress. — Alpine nachos for appetizer — house chips, forest mushrooms, speck, fontina — everyone raves about them and they were very delicious but we felt way over-salted and so rich that the portion size should have been much smaller(it filled a whole dinner plate). — Arugula salad, with avocado, pine nuts, Grana Padano, lemon and olive oil — simple and very well-executed, if a little salty as well. — Citrus-Achiote Grilled Organic Chicken with aged jack-jalapeño grits, pickled cabbage, charred«pico» coulis — because I had to order fully-cooked meat, I was limited in my options and couldn’t order the steak, but the chicken came highly recommended by the waitress. I hated to say this, but I just was not happy with it. The flavors were strange and seemed confused — was it southwest/Mexican or classic American? Sweet or savory or smoky or all of the above? It was hard to put my finger on it, and even though I took leftovers home, I was not excited to eat them the next day either and didn’t finish them(I never waste fancy food!) The grits and the cabbage were also unexpected flavors. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed in the whole dish, and wished I’d ordered something different. — Butterscotch Pot De Cream for dessert was fantastic. It was silky, perfectly crunchy on top, with wonderfully subtle butterscotch flavors that were somehow both rich and light at the same time. It was so good it almost completely redeemed any disappointment we felt in the rest of the meal. We will definitely be back to Log Haven to try some of their other dishes and to enjoy the amazing service and ambiance. It’s the perfect place for a special occasion and a leisurely romantic dinner.

This place is nestled in one of the prettiest spots in Millcreek Canyon. Breathtaking views all throughout. Had been raining all day so the waterfall across the street was quite the site. Had heard about the restaurant a number of times so we thought we would give it a shot. Best part about our experience was the wilderness beauty and romantic ambiance. This historic log mansion set in The Wasatch National Forest is a must see for any outdoor enthusiast. Food: Pretty good all around. Nothing out of this world and our favorite dish was, believe it or not, the Alpine Nachos. Not your ordinary fine dining appetizer but trust me, you need to try them! Unlike any other nachos you’ve had. Sweet Greens salad was good, again, nothing spectacular. Main course for me was the Grilled Lamb Rack. Fairly disappointed in the portion size but good flavors. Cactus leaf was a first for me. If you’re debating this place, go give it a shot. It’s worth it.
