Piper’s Quilts & Comforts

Very disappointed with service. I bought a cute baby kit in March. Was told part of the kit was missing but they would mail it to me shortly. Well… After many calls to the shop, no answer or a call back to advise. I really liked this shop and the owner but very disappointed in service. will give them a chance to call me back by Monday. then I. Have no other choice but to call my credit card and have the charges reversed.

I came back as promised. I still love it. They have cute in house patterns that I didn’t notice last year. I bought some more supplies haha .
The only downer they are moving so hopefully I’ll find them next year and they’ll be open.

I have always been disappointed when I come here. After a handful of trips over the last couple years for specific things or to find some inspiring fabric the staff has never been friendly, not once. The fabrics are severely over priced, I can find better prices at a number of other stores in the valley and much much cheaper online.
Once I decided to see their classroom space upstairs and the worker came up & rudely told me it was for employees only. I guess she didn’t want a potential student to sign up for classes :/​not to mention there was no rope and no sign saying «employees only.»
The place is decorated very cute… that’s where all things good end. The fabrics are fun, cute, and modern and the ones I have purchased are good quality but no different than anywhere else other than being too expensive.
Don’t expect friendly service, help, fair prices or much of any specialty items needed for sewing (as is evident in their room towards the back with empty shelves and low inventory) the stuff probably didn’t sell cause it’s so expensive. They don’t have much in the way of precut fabrics either, if that’s your cup of tea.
Anyways, to make this a little longer of a review, haha… DON’T BOTHER with this place.

Piper’s Quilts and Comforts is bar none the best Quilting and Knitting store in the Salt Lake Valley. It is very clear that the proprietors of this establishment have far better taste than most of the options out there. The stay very abreast with what is new and in. The get new fabrics in constantly and feature fabrics that are hard to find elsewhere. The yarns are pretty to much to die for too. The patterns and kits that are offered here a so much better than you can find anywhere else. The two woman who run the store know a lot about putting fabric choices together and also are really quite prolific at their craft. The classes are for beginners and amateurs alike and offer great techniques and help on all types of projects from quilts and knitwear to children’s clothes. This is a not a store for your average Joann Fabric shopper this store is for people with discerning taste and an expectation of quality. If you want to find a unique craft project in the textile arts this is the place to go.

If you’re looking for a good variety of fabric and helpful friendly service, look somewhere else. I’ve never been treated very nicely here, and the fabric stock is so low bolts are turned sideways on shelves to make it look more full. Parking is not easy, to get from the small lot to the door you have to walk down a driveway barely wide enough to let a car pass if one is coming.
With so many great fabric and yarn shops in the Salt Lake Valley, this one is not worth a stop.

Helpful staff. Primarily geared towards quilts with yarn being second. Cute building and in the center of Sugar House.

I *heart* Piper’s! That *heart* is, of course, cut from beautiful Amy Buttler fabric and expertly appliquéd on the front of my shirt! (Ok, not really, but I’m totally considering it.)
Piper’s may be small, but the wow! per square foot is way up there. If you’re a quilter or knitter, no trip to Sugarhouse is complete without a visit to Piper’s. They have lots of lovely fabric in stock, and if nothing else I always add to my fabric stash and take advantage of the buy 5, get one free, fat quarters. I’ve bought some beautiful felted pink wool that I used to sew an ipad case for my favorite toy, and some amazing minky paisley that is the backing for a quilt that I’m working on for my baby girl. I love sewing baby quilts and recently bought a super cute book of baby quilt patterns that I was so captivated by I went straight home and got to work on one immediately. One of the most fabulous features of Piper’s are all the AMAZING quilts and projects they have hanging inside and outside the store. The ideas and the inspiration are free! Just walk around and check out all the incredible things that some tremendously talented ladies have put together — quilts, bags, little dresses, hats — if you’re into quilting or knitting you will come out with some great ideas for your next project, and the one after that, and the one after that… Along with beautiful fabric, yarn, and books, Piper’s also offers classes to get you going in your sewing or knitting endeavors. I have not been able to take advantage of the classes on offer, but I never pass up an opportunity to shop there, and I NEVER leave empty handed!
