This store had just what we needed for a lace-up back for my daughter’s formal dress. Fairly organized. Good prices. The cashier was friendly, helpful and funny. Big parking lot.

Hancock fabrics had a fair selection of fabrics, nothing too high end on the clothing side but I did find a good piece of chocolate polyester suiting fabric for the Count Dooku cape my wife is kindly sewing for a costume birthday party we are attending. In addition do their clothing fabrics, they have a lot of patterns which helped to determine just how much fabric would be needed. They also have a pretty good selection of upholstery fabric. All in all, it is a decent place given the limited number of fabric store options in Salt Lake City.

I simply wanted to stop in here for 10 minutes to find some inexpensive patterns(which is probably the only good thing about this place). I actually spent nearly an entire hour in the store, 30 minutes of which was waiting in line to check out… and considering I was the 2nd person in line, this is unacceptable. Only two employees were working in the store, and only one of which was working the cash register… and it took her 20 minutes to even stop talking wither her co-worker and get herself to the cash register! Unacceptable and this made me late for my next appointment. In summary, SLOW service(the worst!), average fabric, ok patterns, Overall, not recommended.

This Hancock Fabrics has a decent selection of all kinds of fabrics, and their décor fabrics section is easy to navigate and each one has a tag with helpful information such as what the fabric has been coated with(so… is it waterproof?) The employees sew, so they are usually able to answer questions, but because they tend to be seamstresses rather than retail professionals, the check-out process, or even finding someone who can operate the register, can sometimes be a bit of a pain. They offer supplies as well as premade items, and partially made items to finish, and kits. They also sell sewing machines and quilting supplies. Overall a decent spot to snag some sewing needs, with a pretty big selection of buttons and some ball fringe, to boot.
