Such an awesome coffee place. I had a blonde mocha and it was amazing. I love that it is ran on solar energy. So cool. The space was really neat because it had space for work meetings too.

This place is ok. I love certain elements of the décor, but I didn’t really like my chai latte. It was too spicy. I also had a peanut butter bar and it was ok. It was a bit much, though. The service was ok.

Places like this give me hope for SLC. I’ve been to quite a few coffeeshops since moving to SLC a few months ago, but the ones I visited all have a grandma vibe about them… none were cool… except this one. Definitely atmosphere and vibe are great here. Feeling a Panther Coffee from Miami feel here… hipster and nice crowd. They have a limited selection of food(toasts). I tried the avocado toast and it’s the best one I’ve had in town so far… delicious and with olive oil. Coffee was also good. Definitely see myself coming back here a lot.

You guys toast your toast so well. Its nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. 10 stars for whoever you have toasting this toast. And the register guy was pretty good looking. Keep it up

Great space with lots of energy and action, but still quiet enough to get some work done while you soak up the scene upstairs or down. Nitro cold brew on tap is a win, as are the delightfully creamy espresso and milk drinks.

Loved this place from the moment my wife and I walked in!!! They source and roast all of their own coffee beans, they fix and make their own jams and syrups, and they run their entire set up on renewable energy. HUGE props to them! My wife’s favorite things to eat was the avocado toast, and a caramel latte with brown sugar syrups. I LOVED the toast with Pear-Lavender jam and cream cheese! You can’t go wrong with the espresso, the cappuccino or a pour over :) Make sure you’re not in a hurry; the staff takes their time and rightfully so! They want to make sure everything comes out fresh and perfect!

Coffee drinks are splendid. Coffee drinks are carefully crafted. Coffee drinks are delicious. Coffee drinks take a while to produce. Make sure you’re not in a hurry. Toast is spot-on. If you like sweet, I prefer the mocha bread with jam and cream cheese. Mmmmm. Staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great. A good place to catch up with friends. A great place to set up shop and work all day.

Always a very busy coffee shop. The space is large and echoes a lot. The noise can be very distracting and frustrating. There is rarely a table available. The service is extremely slow. However, the toast and coffee is great. I guess there is some sort of balance there.

Doesn’t quite live up to the hype So, while asking around town and other shops, there was such a negative impression of this place. I kinda understand why. They seemed almost indifferent to my presence here. I guess customer service isn’t their top priority. They weren’t very personable. That aside, the coffee was fine. Good but not great. Their offerings all sounded pretty enticing, but the El Salvador didn’t particularly hit it on all levels. It didn’t have too much depth to it. Seemed almost lacking in flavor. I think the coffee is 4 stars, but I definitely take one away because it was the least friendly place of all the coffee shops I visited. There seems to be an arrogance from this place but it’s not the best shop or roaster in the area.

I built my opinion of quality coffee roasters and the perfect coffeeshop vibe during my 20’s when I lived in Portland, Oregon. It is, perhaps, the standard by which I judge all things coffee. Publik has the atmosphere dialed, with exposed ceilings, beautifully filtered light, concrete floors and textured wood. It is my favorite place to sit and write and sip a consistently good coffee. This is not just«Salt Lake Good.» This is good. Portland good. L.A. Good. NYC Good. Possibly even Paris good. Where Publik falls short is in creating consistency with its food. I’ve ordered avocado toast 4 times. Twice the avocado was as hard as a rock. The third time it was at least as good as what I make at home and this morning it tasted like a pile of salt. Staff were gracious and replaced it and the result was good. Creating consistency with the food will be their next step to total coffee house domination. In addition to their impeccable latte, the event and meeting spaces are the real gems here.

Love this industrial space! Tons of room with a wide range of seating options. Love the coffee selection and the aroma of their espresso. They have a variety of yummy toast, but not a full menu for eating. Line is usually a bit long. but worth it!

By far my favorite coffee shop in Salt Lake. My go-to order is their cappuccino. It’s super smooth and not just a cup full of dry foam like most other places. Their bread is dense and flavorful and there’s a lot to choose from as far as toppings. The reception hall area is very pretty and hip too. I only wish they were open later in the day. There have been so many times I’ve needed a place to study and overload on coffee and baked goods in the evening but I end up having to go to a crowded alternative with coffee that doesn’t compare. The new cold drinks are a little pricey but they’re unique and enjoyable.

One of my favorite coffee houses in town. The blonde mocha is my drink of choice here. Atmosphere is great as well — beautiful open spaces with plenty of seating and wifi. Upstairs is quiet, and great for studying. I noticed they also recently added more seats upstairs to accommodate more people.

I definitely gained 10 hipster points by just walking in the door here… although I suppose I should have seen it coming given the deliberate hipster-action of their name misspelling — or maybe the owners are German. The coffee was mediocre(and no I’m not a «Starbucks person») and the service was crazy slow… I can’t figure out why. I wouldn’t have minded so much except the cashier guy and the«broista» were so sour-faced it sort of added insult to injury.(If you don’t like being of service, don’t work in the service industry.) The other bummer was that I came here to do some work but there are hardly any tables big enough to have a laptop and a piece of paper without worrying your coffee will spill on them. All that said, I have to give them major props for their commitment to community(roasting locally, etc.) and also sustainability. In addition, the people watching is superb.

Really retro-ultra hipster inside. We liked the feel to it. Loved the mocha bread! Not a fan of the espresso, got a 3 shot americano, tasted bland and couldn t’ finish it. The gentlemen at the front taking orders seemed frazzled and pretty slow to respond to the line and the orders rolling thru. Order and actually receiving coffee was very slow for a monday morning. Maybe it was just one experience, we were road tripping and in need of good coffee, maybe if I got to spend more time it would be a 5+ experience?

If you are looking for freshly roasted, wonderfully crafted coffee and a beautiful, open, hip space conducive for working, reading or conversing, this is your place. I had an Ethiopian pour over and it was delicious. Baristas were also really friendly and open to answering our coffee-related questions. Lots of outlets and the wifi was sufficient on my phone(didn’t use it on my laptop). Also, the entire roasting process runs on energy from their rooftop solar panels. Not sure what more I could ask for.

I’d been to the Park City, UT location and was so happy to see that there was a Publik in SLC on a recent work trip. Great coffee, strong wifi and some good snack options. Spent a few hours working from Publik last week and really appreciated the service, space and coffee quality.

Incredible, slow coffee. Great people, music, interior, and consistently great coffee. Only one, very chief complaint — the pace. It’s painfully slow. I don’t get it. Maybe I’m too old or something.

I can never quite decide how I feel about Publik. Their coffee is decent, and their space is roomy and great for working. But I’m never quite blown away by anything I order here. Though I like their toast, it seems pretty overpriced since all you get is a single(and usually pretty small) slice. For me, the ambiance is the main draw, and, as I said, it’s a great place to sit and work. Definitely a step above the average coffee shop, but still not quite in my rotation of favorites.

What a great place to chill, study, catch up with friends and Publik Coffee even provides you a huge space with a second floor to boot, in the middle of a residential neighborhood, only blocks away from the West Temple/City Center exit. They also have several private rooms with glass doors for business meetings which is just fantastic. Publik Coffee Roasters specializes in medium roasted fruity coffees I was told. I love their clipboard menu. Quite hip. They are also a very high end coffee house and preparation for a single cup of coffee is quite a sight and brewed through a flute of glass! Oooh-la-la! Their Chai latte here was delicious said our family member who was visiting from Portland, who by the way, we were the only two member who drinks caffeine in our Salt Lake City family. :p Lastly, upon entrance… you will see a wall of grass that is a must for selfie lovers! Great photography backdrop! :p Best of all, parking is plentiful and free, and plenty of outdoor seating during the summer days or without snow. Until then, Cheers! ~ :p

Great space, friendly staff & a tasty cortado. I could see myself sitting down for hours reading and sipping on some coffee while people watching and enjoying the great warehouse space. Why only 3 stars? The cinnamon toast I SO wanted to love was subpar. If they just put a little more effort into it; it would be amazing. The problem lies in the method in which they«toast» the top; instead of using a hand-held kitchen torch(that leaves a very distinct butane flavor) they could use a toaster oven and achieve a much better«toast» without the off-putting flavor. The chemical flavor and smell was so prevalent I couldn’t even enjoy the cinnamon, the sugar or the whipped butter; so after a few bites I just gave up. I’ll come back for a cup of coffee for sure; but I’ll definitely pass on any of the toasts.

Can I get another cup? I just ended up getting their drip coffee and it was really good. I actually thought it didn’t even need sugar since it had so much flavor. I also liked the industrial feel of the space as it is a great place to work independently or chat with friends.

I came in to give this place another chance. I came in to have a warm cup of coffee and feel a part of the community I had so recently joined. I came to be greeted with kindness and a warm cup of love. Well, I came to the wrong place. The staff seemed grumpy, and despite no one being in line except for myself, allowed me to awkwardly stand there for a few minutes while they stared at me from a distance. There was no friendliness, and I felt that I was supposed to take my coffee and go off somewhere in the building(which I still think is big, open, and awesome) and disappear. Working as a server myself, I understand it’s hard to be cheerful and cater to the customer all the time. However, I also understand that that’s my job, and, personally I enjoy making others around me feel appreciated and welcome. I get that taking a coffee and disappearing is the dream… sometimes — but I already lived my college days where all I cared about was caffeine and getting $%&# done. Since then, I’ve learned to take my time, make friends and conversation, and enjoy a cup of joe. And I will keep doing that… elsewhere.

This is probably more of a 3.5 for me but I’ll boost it to 4 for service since it’s not an option. Is this place a little pricey? Sure. But the quality is there. I’m a fan of their nitro coffee. I know it’s a fad but it’s one I’m willing to partake in. It produces a really smooth, velvety cold brew that borders on chocolate flavors. What’s not to love? I also love their seasonal beverages, like a cocktail but with coffee and teas instead. Grapefruit infused cold brew? Coffee with cardamon and bitters? Sign me up! Let’s talk toast. I know, I know. $ 5+ for a slice of bread and jam or avovado? I know. I had to look twice when I first saw the price too. But I needed to know. I have tried the goat cheese with tomato jam as well as the orange habanero with goat cheese. Both were thick slabs of bread slathered appropriately with goat cheese and jams(which you can buy at the counter). Both were pretty good. Am I going to order toast every single time I go? No. But it’s a nice treat. The service is always nice. When I use my card, some address me by name. It’s not a big deal but a nice gesture. Some may say the space is cold and sterile. I say clean and modern. I like the big community tables and the spaces upstairs. I even like the big event space. It’s nice and open and you can really do a lot with it when planning an event.

One of my favorite coffee spots in Salt Lake ! You can’t go wrong with the blond mocha — hot or cold. I’ve tried the strawberry rhubarb and goat cheese toast and it is mm mm good. This spot is on point for studying. I love the big windows that let in tons of natural lighting.

When you walked into a coffee shop and saw 6 MacBooks in a row, I was in a hipster heaven! My kind place! I heard Publik couple times and friends praised about their coffee, avocado toast, and the interior design. Sounds like a perfect combination place for people to chill. Publik is a huge coffee shop. They have an open kitchen and you can see the warehouse through the half glass walls. If downstair is full, there is always a second floor. Also it has a warehouse for wedding, big party and etc. All the decoration and design are a mix of modern and old. Pallet wall, modern chairs and table, refurbished old barn doors and Edison lightbulbs. Great place to admire the interior design. However I was not impressed with their coffee and the avocado toast. I ordered a warm cup of chai with soy milk and my husband ordered an iced latte macchiato. My chai tasted very watered down and finally tasted a little chai spice in the end. Iced coffee usually watered down when the ice started to melt. Most barista would make the iced coffee just a bit stronger. From the start, latte macchiato was lacking on coffee taste and the melting ice added a worst combination in the coffee. Moving onto the toasts. I actually liked my husband’s maple toast because my avocado toast was very bland. Cool atmosphere to work, study and chill but the coffee and the food were a turn off. Sadly to say, starbuck makes better coffee than this.

Ugh. Ran Publik through the old Americano test and the place failed miserably. My espresso was burnt to crap but because I was late to an appointment, i didn’t have time to ask them to remake it. I’ve heard(or seen) a couple friends talk and post about it, and so it doesn’t surprise me to find that it’s quite the brag worthy place to be. Lots of felt hats and skinny jeans, coffee in Mason jars, hand made syrups, etc. But as we all know, talk is cheap. And everyone apparently does a lot of talking for this place, because the taste of the espresso was cheap. Just… Ugh.

I love the story behind Publik and the type of coffee shop it represents. As it turns out, «publik» is a Dutch word that means«community.» The old warehouse space facilitates meetings and conversations over coffee in a welcoming environment. Conference rooms and lounge chairs upstairs are perfect for any type of meet up. There’s even a venue room downstairs next to the entrance that might even serve as a wedding space. Amazing space aside, Publik’s features an extensive gourmet toast menu in addition to coffee. Although I didn’t try their toast, I can comment on the coffee roasting here. Their mocha blonde is an interesting alternative if you are a caramel lover. However, my mocha was poorly attended to as the two baristas were conversing and rushed the pour leading to latte art comparable to that of Starbucks quality. The cortado was a better espresso drink for me and tasted very similar to many of my favorite cortados poured with Clover milk. I ended up taking home a single-origin from Ethiopia branded as lomi tasha, which has been a bit inconsistent in flavor. This medium-light roast is more on the acidic side and is more tea-like in flavor when brewed using a v60. Overall, a few negatives for the single-origin roast and customer service, but I would definitely return to try the toast and lounge upstairs.
