Be very careful with your tab at this bar. I have had two of the bar tenders here over charge me and add extra tips onto my tab. The two I am speaking of are Spencer and the other bartender with dread locks. On more than two occasions I have been charged over $ 10 on my tab by these two. One time I was charged a $ 20 gratuity fee by Spencer when I forgot to close out my tab. My bill was $ 60… there is no way a 130lb 5’10″ male could have possibly engorged that much liquor. The other two times I had 4 drinks and when billed my tab was way higher. I didn’t take much note at first until I compared the two receipts at a later date… 5 drinks with an added $ 2 for each was the math I came up with. Be very careful and check your tab carefully while ordering here.

This is a cool neighborhood bar. I’ve been here 7 or 8 times and have never had a bad experience. They need to work on their sound system, as the music sounds all muddled and indecipherable. The game room is pretty sweet with darts, pool and foosball. Drink prices are reasonable and they have good selection of bottle and draft beers.

A Sugar House dive bar. Nothing special but nice pool tables and friendly staff. This place is certainly a neighborhood bar. I think the Sugar House area is oversaturated with places like this but realize the area caters to a college, budget minded audience.

Drinking my fill here since they opened and overall my favorite neighborhood bar in Sugar House. Alcohol selection could be better. Staff is always great.

A nice 2 bar establishment. Some comfy seats at tables, great for watching sports. My friend and I came out on a day crawl, so we didn’t stay, but it’s the kind of please you feel like you could put in a session.

The overall atmosphere of the pub was a bit dingy. I would go back for the location and most importantly the bar tender. Sarah brought the atmosphere up with her kind attentiveness and playful banter. The Manhattan she made me was also on point

This place has been open for a long time now and had plenty of time to develop some character, alas this is not on their agenda. It’s lazy and lame to have your sole source of decoration be the liquor and beer ads that you get from distributors… Just so terribly generic. Hopefully someday Sugarhouse will have an interestingly neighborhood bar one would want to spend time in

Macey, Spencer, Jonathan… what a great group of people to get drinks from! They’re the best! This place gets stupid-packed on the weekends, so steer clear if you’re trying to drink somewhere where you can hear your partner talk. I’ve also seen a lot of fights go down in the parking lot so always use the buddy system when going to your car! Other than that, this place is cool. Lots of pool tables and a good selection of draft beers.

This place is terrible. I have never had service this bad. The bartenders had attitudes and have no idea of the drinking laws in this state. Avoid this place. There are much better Bars in Sugarhouse to drink at

Four stars is rare but it’s based off of my experience today, I’ve typically been here when it’s been busy. I was the first person in here for nearly the first two hours. I’ve been here before but today dictates my review. I prefer to day drink, I enjoy a more intimate drinking experience with just a few people. Once it gets packed or busy I’m out. With that said, there are four others here and the experience has been great. For the first few hours I’ve gotten to know my barkeep Macey. She’s a sweetheart. The drinks are priced a little below average. The lighting is dim except for when I had here crank it up for Unilocal pictures. So there is a bonus. But it’s a nice little place. There is plenty of bike parking and it’s not too far from food and parks if you want a quick break from the venomous world. They have free pretzels and WiFi(see my tip for the pass). Anyhow to cut it short it has made a great day better. And it’s within walking distance from my home.

I’ve been here twice now. The first time was with a guy who goes here a few times a week and tips very well. The second time I went was with some international friends of mine. The service was night and day. I felt embarrassed for suggesting that my friends come here. We were treated like second class citizens. If you go with a regular and they know you will tip well, you will have good service.

Not a bad place to get a drink. Prices are a little more spending than other bars. The crowd is in their younger twenties a lot of ski bums and snow Bros.

Great bartenders! Keeping it together in total chaos. Macey & Spencer– Excellent work, lady and dude! 10⁄10 Not much to say about utah bars— but this is one of the best I’ve been to. Super cool :)

Decent dive bar but watered down weak drinks. After 3 martinis and 6 shots of Jameson I walked home completely sober. Won’t go back and waste $$$ there.

This is actually a difficult review to write because I really want to like this little pub! The location is perfect, I think the building is wonderful, I like the fact that it is divided into two bars, with a different bar and bartender on each side, so there can be a younger and noisier crowd on one side of the wall, and a more subdued and older crowd on the other. It’s just that the place has enough issues for me to only rate three stars. First of all, in the more quiet section, when the sun goes down, there are no lights in most of the middle section, and it’s too damned dark to see! Also, what a waste of space to have those stupid plastic electronic dart games in the corner. Pull those things out and throw them away, and get some real dart bristle boards in there! Several other Unilocalers have mentioned the bathrooms. I didn’t find them to be dirty at all. Maybe management has seen some of the reviews here and decided to make some changes. I was there just two nights ago on a Thursday, and the restrooms were just fine. But there have been some other comments by people talking about the chlorine smell in this place. They are absolutely correct! It smells like somebody just put new chlorine in the swimming pool at my old high school when you first walk in the door. I know that bleach is used for the cleaning and disinfecting of bar where, but a bar should not have the overwhelming smell of Clorox when you first walk in the door. The drink prices are about medium, nothing to write home about, and I do like their bottled beer selection, it seems to be more than adequate. They also had my favorite brand of bourbon, which not every bar in Salt Lake City carries. Anyway, if somebody wants to meet me at the Sugar House pub, I will go again, but I will not go out of my way to make it a regular stop on my tour of bars in the area. Your mileage may vary.

Is there a way to give less than one star? This is one the worst examples of what a bar should be. The restrooms are disgusting. Do they think they can fool people into thinking an overpowering scent of Lysol covers up pure disease causing filth? The clientel is almost exclusively underage or close. They are served by rude, inept barkeeps who know nothing but how rip off the foolish kids who think this what a bar is. They have NO parking so they actually encourage their patrons to trespass on another business owner’s property. Patrons will soon be alarmed when find their cars towed. Anyone dumb enough to go there deserves it. The place does the service of keeping under age drinkers from causing problems for reputable places.

Best, most friendly staff and ideal local bar ambience. I love the place. My only criticisms: (1) The Utah Legislature finally increased hard liquor pours from 1 ounce to 1 ½ ounces. However, Sugar House Pub still pours only one ounce. That makes having a «real» drink very expensive and a bit of a hassle. Every bar in Utah should now be pouring 1 ½ ounces! (2) The selection of good blended Scotches is very limited. I still give the place five stars — because of the great staff and the friendly«feel» of the place.(It would feel even friendlier if pours were 1 ½ ounces!)

I had to do laundry and luckily Sugar House Pub was there for me to pass the time. Laundry is so much more interesting over a pint. The atmosphere was pretty chill on a Tuesday night, and Spencer, the bartender, was friendly and quick to get you your drink. What else do you need?
