We LOVE that Cucina is back and better than ever! Can’t get enough of the zucchini carpaccio, spare ribs pizza, the gnocchi alla bava, the soft serve gelato with caramel — to die for! And the new roasted pork salad for lunch is OFFTHEHOOK. Love the new look of the whole place — well done! San Anselmo needed a great dining place like Cucina — welcome back! We are excited to be weekly diners at Cucina again.

We love it here! The food is sublime, interesting and always creative. Donna, Kevin, Victor, Pedro and everyone here make this a most welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for us almost every week.

Great addition(can I say that? How about rebirth?) here in San Anselmo. Great Italian food, fresh salads, warm inviting décor. Family friendly but a great date place also. Couldn’t be happier with how they’ve updated this place.

Good service. Food is tasty. Had pizza margarita and husband had a pasta dish. Didn’t care for palenta fries. However, bruschetta, our salad and wine selection were very good.

First time in and everything was delicious! It’s a gorgeous space — just incredibly well done. The food was great! We were a party of 6(my husband and I, my in-laws and my kids) and everyone left happy a full. A tall order! We all ordered different things and we devoured it all. So happy to have this option in Marin. It reminded me of the little places I loved in Brooklyn, NY.

Went last night and had a good time. Food was very good, just slight bump in service. When we walked in at 8:00pm, the room was lively, and almost felt like I was in a SF restaurant. Nice surprise for a town as sleepy as San Anselmo. Out table was ready for us and service was attentive. When eating out Italian, my wife and I like to order in «Flights»; get one each of an appetizer, salad, pasta and meat course. We want each course to be served individually, in order. Many restaurants do not get this and bring us everything at once. Cuchina got it and we were served as we wanted. We did ask if our food could be split plated, for which we were told was not their policy. Not a problem; understood and they we polite about it. For dinner we had: carpaccio di zucchini(shared with table, another couple) crostini di burata Gnocchi of the day with a mushroom cream sauce contadino misto Everything was excellent; the only hiccup was that we had a long delay between the pasta and meat course. While this was annoying for us, it was worse for the other couple we were dining with because they had an even longer wait between their salad and entrée courses. Will return. Nice to have this in Marin

Delicious!!! I had the Mezzaluna di Funghi a mushroom ravioli, Brussel Sprout Chips and chocolate Cake with Zabaglione. They take reservations via Open Table and they take walk-ins too they have a nice dining area next to the main dining area with high top tables for walk-ins.

Cucina is fantastic, and has some of the best food in Marin, in my opinion. We ate here a few weeks after it opened on a Sunday night in January. The restaurant and the wine bar at the back were full, and the place was buzzing. In January! Food was excellent. I especially liked the insalata di cavolo. Service was top notch. The owner(Donna) was present, and very hands on, ensuring that front of house was on point. The décor is rustic contemporary, where there are elements of what you would expect to see in a traditional Italian trattoria, with a contemporary edge. We hope to be paying more visits to Cucina!

So happy Cucina is back in the neighborhood! Everyone in my party of 6 really enjoyed their meal. My old favorite appetizers Carpaccio di Zucchini and burata were fabulous as usual and we all enjoyed my new favorite starter Melanzane alla Parmigana(lightly fried eggplant). My main dish, Mahi Mahi(one of the evening’s specials) was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The kids enjoyed their calzone and their chicken cutlet. Service and wine were great as well. Can’t wait to return!

Cucina is truly a local jewel in San Anselmo, and we are so lucky to have it back«under old management». As the saying goes, you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. From the warm ambience of the fireplace, deep wine menu the super-friendly staff and delicious meals, an evening at Cucina is always something to look forward to. Zucchini carpaccio with almonds to start. Personal favorites on the secondi: bombolotti al sugo, or the cotoletta di maiale. And if they have it(off-menu?): the squid ink spaghetti will be the most sensational sublimation of calamari you’ve ever had. Donna and team: Amazing! Mangia!

Was walking around in downtown San Anselmo this evening and popped into this restaurant. Hadn’t been here for at least 10 years and we were treated to a delightful surprise! We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. Delicious kale salad, tuna tartare and a delectable squid ink pasta. We walked in without a reservation and were treated like royalty by Kevin and the staff. Bravo! I think we have a new favorite restaurant.

Cucina is back open and I’m delighted to say I got the chance to dine there last week. I have ate at a lot of restaurants in Marin County and this is hands down my new favorite. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we couldn’t believe how amazing the food was! He had a short rib pizza special and I had the carbonara which was to die for! I highly recommend starting with the brusslesprouts which are seasoned with siraccha sauce– so good. The service was great and the atmosphere is incredible. So romantic! They also have a gorgeous wine bar in the back which is perfect for dropping by and having a glass of wine and appetizer. If you need a new place– this is it! I will be back again and again!

This restaurant is open again under Donna’s great leadership and its better than ever! The food is terrific, as is the wine list. Don’t be timid in asking Donna for a wine, she will guide you to exactly what you had in mind, or better! There are some new faces and some familiar ones, but the service is back to great. All in all we are so happy to have this great gem of a restaurant back again.

The restaurant has been tastefully remodeled throughout. The wood fired pizza oven still anchors a warm inviting dining room and the wine bar has a new look with unique food-friendly on beer tap. Many of the waitstaff have returned and the service was gracious and professional. The menu has been updated with new items and familiar Cucina favorites. Food was fresh and plated beautifully. It is obvious that a lot of thought, care and deliberation went into every detail. So glad Cucina is back in San Anselmo.

Tonight we had the pleasure of eating at the new and improved Cucina Restaurant. Let me start off by saying the old Cucina was amazing and I really wasn’t expecting much improvement, but I was amazed at how good every aspect of the service, food and décor ended up. The décor is beautiful and obviously designed by a professional with an eye for comfort, style and simplistic sophistication. The space is laid out well and every inch has been redone and improved. Now for the best part. The food was as good as any 5 star restaurant and probably on par with the top 5 restaurants in Marin. The salads were fresh and perfectly portioned, the appetizers were extremely flavorful and even my kids couldn’t get enough of the tuna tartar and fried Brussel sprouts in a citrus Siracha sauce. The entrees were incredible and the service was spot on! Some of the old favorites are still on the menu and some new surprises. Donna is the perfect combination between, owner & host. She was warm and inviting and it was like she never took a break from the restaurant business. It’s the perfect place to take your family or a date. The menu has something for everyone! Every person that left was smiling and as I looked at other tables all I heard were people talking about how delicious their meals were. I really can’t say enough about how great the food was and how excited my family and I are to have Cucina back in town. It’s family friendly restaurants like this that make Marin an even better place to live. Do yourself a favor and go enjoy a great meal at the all new Cucina in San Anselmo. 5 *****!

I did not enjoy my meal. The service was slow and the food was cold and very bland. Every one at the table complained. They have a beautiful pizza oven so we ordered one. It looked like something out of a safeway freezer. I didn’t even try it.

Cucina is back and even better than before! The restaurant has been completely renovated by the new owners and looks fantastic. The menu features many Cucina classics along with some new additions — try the tuna tartare! The waitstaff here are all friendly and on top if it. Couldn’t be more excited to welcome this neighborhood gem back!

one of the most horrendous eating experiences of my life. the spaghetti and meatballs tasted like an unwiped bunghole and the owner, bucky, was rude and ill tempered. Never again my girlfriend said to bucky as we were leaving and he replied, «good riddance stinky: as he let out a long loud stream of flatulence» Unbelievable. Bad food, bad service, zany owner, bad gas. Good riddance bucky boy

Better than ever I was just at Cucina and realized my last review was 7 years ago so it’s time for an update. Over the years, I continued to visit Cucina — it was sometimes nice, sometimes mediocre. The place itself was beginning to show wear and tear and feeling a bit tired. The new owners have breathed new life into Cucina — freshening up the interior and redoing the wine bar in the back to give people a cozy, comfortable place to relax, catch up and connect. While I very much appreciate the updated and upgraded ambience, I also am a fan of the care in the kitchen. Several old favorites remain, like the blistered-crust wood-oven pizzas, sausage-filled mushrooms topped with fontina, and the ever-popular free bruschetta. But the owners have also responded to local tastes by adding new, seasonal items that vary weekly, keeping the interest high and the taste buds charmed. On my last visit, I had the Sicilian chicken with lemon and capers with salad and it was terrific. Light, tasty and satisfying. I’m also a big fan of their gnocchi which gets a seasonal makeover each time I visit, this time with asparagus and brown butter. If you want a dining experience with good food, good service, and a rustically elegant dining atmosphere, you should check out the main restaurant. It’s ideal for families, groups, and couples. If you want something more intimate and adult, head to the back to the deep leather chairs and wine barrel tabletops in the bar to listen to jazz, have a bite, and try out their local and international wine collection. I feel like I’ve rediscovered an old friend with the new Cucina and will be back more often.

Love this place for a glass of wine(or 3) in their cushy leather chairs in the back or sitting at their outdoor tables enjoying the zucchini with parmesan or bombolotti al sugo(pasta + meat). Open most nights till midnight and if you tell David the owner the secret word you get 30% off wine, it’s «Delirium».

End of an Era. Sold and the spirit is gone. Yes, same cooks, same staff. But new self focused owners. The recipe was good service and a welcoming greeting. Now, I waited 5 minutes to have to turn around and find a new great restaurant.
