Not one gluten free option in 2016. As a Celiac and a Californian, I have gotten used to virtually every restaurant having a GF option, but I just found the unfriendly hold outs.

Pizza is excellent!!! My boyfriend is from NY and has a hard time finding good pizza out here and he even loved the pizza at Mauro’s. We loved it so much we had to try their organic pasta the next day. It was a bit strange having to take it home and microwave but really oh my god the ravioli is out of this world.

I will honestly never ever go back. The service was poor, and I’m pretty sure he was the owner… Not to mention his hands seemed unclean. I’m from CT and am Italian, I know good pizza… This is not good pizza. Flimsy, not fresh, sauce tasted weird… I could go on and on. THISPARTISTHEWORST!!! I actually came in because I had a hankering for chicken parmesan. I live 5 mins away and called to order it to-go. They said their made daily, so come in and they’ll warm it up. I came in to them warming it in the microwave!!! Yes the MICROWAVE!!! They have a pizza oven cooking at over 500° and they are warming chicken parmesan in the microwave!!! Blasphemy! Unacceptable! Completely outrageous! #NotaRealPizzaJoint #WhoMicrowavesChickenParm Still I gave it all a try and was deeply disappointed that I spent near $ 15 for a slice($ 3) and chicken parm($ 11). I took one bite of the parm and that was it… The sauce was funky, pasta rubbery, barely any cheese… And it was MICROWAVED!!! Safe yourself the disappointment if you want somewhat east coast pizza and go to Rocco’s in Mill Valley! You will not be disappointed with service, price, and pizza(although it’s a little greasy)!

I have been aggressively seeking a pizza reminiscent of the pies I loved back home in NY/CT ever since I moved out to CA… so far, Mauro’s comes closest. Even the plain cheese/sauce pizza was outstanding. Friendly service and reasonably priced. Tip: I ask for my pizza«well baked, and not a lot of cheese.»

Love this place! Sven knows what’s up and does a MEAN cornmeal crust pizza. I don’t eat out much and prefer to make my own meals, but in a time crunch, I love stopping into Mauro’s to see what looks good. I’m not a big pasta girl, but they have other pre-made entrees(like salmon with asparagus) that one can purchase and warm up at home.

We were a little hesitant at first when we saw that they serve their pizza by the slice pre frozen. So we decided on a pepperoni and margarita pizza. Pepperoni pizza was good and worth the price. sauce was good. The margarita pizza was delicious my husband nearly ate the whole thing himself. Needless to say we will be coming back on out way through again.

The pizza is adequate. Didn’t love it. It was«eh». Customer service was piss poor.

My favorite place to get a slice of pizza to eat on my way home. They’re already cooked and sliced up and cold; you order it and they reheat it in the oven. It’s really, really good. The crust is really thin, always a tiny bit burnt here or there which is delicious — and the toppings are interesting, high-quality and different than the usual fare, although they do have the standards. There’s one that has tons of walnut and leek(?) on it, with a white sauce i believe rather than red, and it’s surprisingly delicious. Anyway, give it a slice. And re the cranky guy working there: I know who you mean: he works there all day making the beautiful entrees, i guess he’s tired. The first time i went there, i thought he was cranky. After that, he never was again. He’s a decent fellow.

Received a gift certificated for a free pizza – WAHOO!!! Free pizza is always good, right? Well the rude guy inside who merely shrugged and handed my hubby a menu when he asked«How much are these normally?» kinda ruined the free part. He literally did not say a single word. Regardless, the ham and pineapple pizza was decent, it tasted free, but still. Maybe go back? Maybe not. We’ll see… regardless, the price on the menu was decent, I could see paying $ 16 for a medium pizza – pretty a-ok! Positive note: my tummy didn’t hurt after eating like it always does at Ghiringhelli’s *thumbs up*

Went here yesterday after my sons soccer game. Wow is the pizza good. If you like hand tossed thin crust you will love it here. We picked individual slices from a wide variety of choices. Loved them all. We also tried the thick but extremely light corn meal crust. It was different than any crust I have ever had, but amazing. Crunchy on the outside and thick and pillow soft on the inside. Many interesting topping combinations. We loved the pizza so much we got some of the home made italian entrees to go and had them for dinner at home. They were also great. The owner/chef does it all and is very friendly. We will definitely go back to this place the next time we are in the area.

The pizza has a New York style — thin and just a little crispy. I brought home some take-out lasagne with meat sauce. It smelled so good when I heated it up in the microwave that my vegetarian wife had to try some(she kept saying the little bites she took had no meat, but c’mon it was meat sauce!)

Great food at a great price. Only wish it were a sit down restaurant occasionally. We enjoy the Artichoke Lasagna, Chix parm and Cornmeal crust pizzas

Best-kept secret heading out towards West Marin. Out of this world exceptional pizza from a little whole in the wall. Prepare yourself to be be amazed! An under-discovered gem that goes out of its way to make me feel I am in Italy again– the pizza is a phenomenon!

One of the best pizza places in Marin. Many organic ingredients, good thin crust, lots of toppings available. The sauce actually has flavor. Overall much more tasty than the other options around. However, they put way too much cheese on the pizza. This ruins an otherwise good pizza.

Best Pizza in Fairfax, maybe all of Marin. Great thin crust pizza, made fast, always on time and awesome customer service every time I have been there. My gf and I missed good pizza after moving out of the city, and didn’t order from Mauro’s for awhile bc they didn’t deliver. Glad we finally tried them, its my go-to takeout pie and better than anything else I have tried in Marin. Haven’t tried the entrees or the corn crust pies yet, but they do look good. Fresh pizza dough breadsticks are a nice touch if you have to wait a few minutes.

This pizza is NEWYORKGOOD!!! I have given up on California pizza’s and never eat it anymore. I stopped in to Mauro’s because I was told they have gread to go entrees. I picked up some eggplant parm for later but decided to try a slice. I sat outside and ate it and felt like crying!(kidding) But seriously… this pizza is what I’ve been missing ever since I left New York. I do agree with others about the atmosphere. The guy working there was super nice, and it felt like an authentic pizza place inside… nice you could eat outside, but nothing to write home about. I think if they had a full on restaurant they would do great. I hope they deliver. I may become addicted to pizza again!

Mauro’s… you’re flirting with 5 stars. My current favorite slice in the bay. Yes, that’s right, I said it. I’m talking to you Little Star in the mission. I’m talking to you Zachary’s of Oakland. Mauro’s is my spot. What lacks in atmosphere — Deli style counter, three tables outside — they more than make up for in a KILLER production of New York style crust with that characteristic whisper of charred crispiness. They also have an impressive assortment of made-in-house pastas. Oh and those damn bread sticks! They hide right next to the counter waiting to pounce on your weaker impulses that prompt the last minute purchase.(…they’re always worth it.) Friendly service. I can understand people thinking the service is a bit cold, that was my first impression, but after chatting up the man in the hat behind the counter he was real cool and even gave me a tour of the room where they make all the fresh pasta. Impressive operation. You guys are the moon that hits my eye like a big… you know what.

We were craving pizza — a craving that hadn’t reared it’s head since we moved to downtown San Rafael. Ergo, we had no idea where we were going to satisfy the urge. So I Unilocaled. Mauro’s looked like the best bet within spitting distance. Good omen, since my Argentinian mate Mauro makes the best pizza in the world. I ordered. I picked it up. A large combo set me back a little shy of $ 27 with tax. A little spendy for takeout, but unlike pie ordered from LoCoco’s or Mulberry Street, I was gobsmacked when I picked it up. It was huge. It was immense. It was like a manhole cover. And it’s better. Back home we flipped the lid. Tons of toppings. We’re talking TONS. Made it a bit difficult to eat without performing the NY trick of folding your slice. Crust was JUST how I like it — thin and crispy. Sauce was fresh. Toppings were fresh. Cheese tasted a little plastic-y, but you can’t have everything. Two slices and a glass of Easton old vine Zin later, I was a happy camper. There’s still a half a pizza in the fridge that’s going to get molested for lunch. And when that’s gone, I plan on trying out some other goodies from their menu. My mate Mauro’s got competition for favourite pie now.
