Probably the best bagels in San Antonio. Very good drip coffee, given that it is not a fancy coffee place. Friendly staff!

My brother in law took us here for breakfast. He really likes the bagels here, so we came here to try. I had their Southern breakfast sandwich while my husband had their Northern breakfast sandwich. You get to choose the type of bagels you want with the sandwich. I felt my sandwich and my husband’s sandwich taste very similar. Only difference is that his sandwich has tomatoes and peppers in the egg while mine didnt. They staff was very nice. We felt our sandwiches were okay — I had mine with jalapeño bagel. barely taste any spice to it. My brother in law had a bagel with strawberry cream cheese while my sister in law had a bagel with regular cream cheese. It was just okay for me — maybe I’m just not a bagel person but this was just a meh breakfast. We had a small mocha which I also thought was okay. Starbucks coffee is better. They have a dine in area to sit so that was nice. Also a section for you to get water and other types of drinks.

Average bagels, nothing fancy. They put way too much cheese in the breakfast sandwiches and although their latte is so good, they take a long time to make it. I was there first thing in the morning and there were only a few people. I got my bagel but the latte took almost 15 minutes longer.

I enjoyed one of the best bagel with cream cheese and lox here the other morning. The service was good. The lack of atmosphere is the only negative but this is just a fast food place. I will be back.

Seating: Limited inside/outside Order: Southern Tradition(Plain Bagel, Scrambled Egg, Bacon… left off the cheese), Cherry Cheesecake Muffin Order Review: I found the egg to be fairly tasteless and the two strips of bacon were thin. However, the bacon was cooked well and you can never go wrong with the bagels. The cherry cheesecake muffin was flavorful if not a little messy since it is essentially a dollop of cheesecake in the center of a hollowed out muffin. Overall Opinion: Vast variety of bagels and pastries. The cinnamon, sesame, and plain bagels are my go-to choices. The bagels have a nice, crusty exterior while the dough is fluffy and smooth. The shop can fill up pretty quickly and the seating capacity if very limited so be prepared to potentially have to order your food to go.

This place was great. Fast and well run(we came on a busy Saturday morning). They got all the orders right(even with two picky little kids). All the tables were nice and clean. The Black Velvet coffee was awesome. The bagels were toasted just right and the bacon was perfect crispy. They even served the hot chocolate not-too-hot so the kids could enjoy it right away. The other great thing about this place is the family-run difference. For example, the owner’s daughter came over and invited our kids on a tour of how the bagels are made — they loved it! And then she even gave our kids a mini muffin and a tattoo! We are going back for breakfast tomorrow morning!

This place was pretty good but I was not really convinced that it is better than other chain bagel places. That may be kinda harsh but it’s just my opinion. I got the Holey Guacamole on the cheddar twist bagel(?). It had a good amount of guacamole but it also had green bell peppers which I really dislike. I should have read the description better. Anyway, the other ingredients were not really«awesome» either. It was just«standard» good. Nothing about it made me want to go there rather than another place. The place is clean and the service was good.

I walked here from the Westin Riverwalk Hotel, as I was in need of a quick breakfast that wouldn’t cost me $ 30 before I hit the road back to Dallas. I walked in and was immediately greeted by three different employees who were all very friendly, with each one offering their favorite menu recommendation. You could tell they were happy to be there, and their good mood was infectious, even on my rainy morning. I settled on a BLT sandwich made with an everything bagel. Yum. The bacon was crispy, and not greasy in the least. One of the guys starts telling a few jokes while the bacon sizzles away. I hardly had time to flip open my iPad to partake in a few moments of free wifi, when my sandwich was already on the counter waiting for me. All in all, I was probably at this spot for less than three minutes. Efficient! These guys will treat you like a regular, even when you’re just a sucker from out of town dragged in for a wedding.

The service here is great. Feels like a mom and pop shop — and the bagels are so fresh and tasty! I got a northern omelet bagel with bacon instead of sausage on an everything bagel. So good!

Thought I saved the family some $ by going for a breakfast run. I think this shop had to be family owned, because I think a father and his two kids were working at the shop.(They really look related) The girl who was running the cash register was pretty nice/and quick. The father(I’m assuming) was also helpful, by talking about the cream cheese(honeycinnamon) explaining that it would be a bit runny because of they honey. They packed it well, and she even separated the savory bagels from the ones with toppings so they wouldn’t cross blend. Besides renewing my fondness for bagels, I learned the Onion & Chives is deliciousness and my new favorite cream cheese is honey cinnamon. The family loved the bagels and spreads as well. Guess I did good, or should I say thanks Big Apple Bagels, for making me look good?

I’m from California and most places dilute their hot chocolate with water. This place was different, they use actual milk! The hot chocolate was delicious especially when topped with some whipped crème. I also ordered a chocolate chip bagel with chocolate chip spread. Talk about chocolate overload. My only complaint was the person making my bagel must not have washed his knife after cutting the bagel before mine because I tasted remnants of onion in my chocolate chip bagel. But this was of no concern to me, I would definitely recommend this place! 5 stars for the excellent customer service. The owner turned out to be the one taking my order at the register. He was very friendly and genuinely cares for his customers. When the line died down he would go up to his customers both inside and outside on the patio to make sure everything was okay. His son also manages the espresso machine. Nothing warms my heart more than seeing a father and son working side by side!

I’d rather eat a leather shoe that has sat out in the sun for 8 years that ever eat here again. There were out of 5 different bagels and 3 types of cream cheese. Best thing was the fountain coke. Never again.

Great for a simple and inexpensive lunch. Bagels were fresh and tasty. Service was a tad slow but we weren’t in a rush so it wasn’t a problem. One thing I will note is that their posted hours seem to be incorrect. It said they closed on Saturdays at 3p but we arrived at 4p on a Saturday and(to our delight) were open.

Great little place. Went there this morning on the way to the convention center. Despite have three extremely rude customers before me, the cashier was friendly and attentive. I ordered a honey oat bagel(good — not overly sweet) with plain cream cheese(layered on thickly, yum) and a plain cappuccino(well executed). I was in and out fast, and it was a delicious and filling breakfast.

Big Apple Bagels in San Antonio? How dare they !! I certainly expected to walk in and find the place decorated with every stereotypical NYC style souvenir in an attempt to convince clientele that this was really just like NY. No, nothing here… thank goodness. I found a clean, contemporary, pleasant environment staffed by very nice people, just as almost all of my encounters have been in San Antonio while visiting. I was here for a light lunch of a bagel with cream cheese and a cup of , for about 4 bucks, I received my empty cup to be able to proceed to the self serve coffee the time my coffee was ready, my bagel was also ready for me to take to a table of my choice. I sat down and tried the coffee first. It was average coffee but, it did the trick. The bagel was presented in a wax paper lined plastic basket/tray. A nice amount of plain cream cheese was present so, it wasn’t really a generous«schmear» but, let’s see how this tasted. First bite and the bagel was fresh, had good body to it and decent flavor. As a I continued to eat my bagel and drink my coffee, I was enjoying my relaxing time in their comfortable surroundings. Bottom line, the bagels are OK, the coffee good, not great but, all in all, a good place and a very good value!

I came here to get a quick lunch since I work downtown. It looked like a little coffee, bagel, sandwich shop. Not a huge selection but it was great for what I was looking for. I ordered a ham and cheddar bagel and it came with mayo, lettuce, tomato and a pickle spear on the side. I was able to choose what type of bagel I wanted and had an onion one… mmmmm! It was the best darn bagel I have ever eaten! The ingredients were fresh, the staff was very nice and patient as I stood there looking like an idiot trying to figure out what I wanted. Definately a quick lunch spot. Only took about 2 minutes to put my bagelwich together! SUPER! Inner Fat Kid Says: The Big Apple gave me a big grin of satisfaction!

My first experience was mediocre. My bagel was brought to me on a napkin, with the kitchen ticket stuck atop with some protruding cream cheese. The cream cheese was only on the top part of my toasted bagel and I had to return inside to ask for a plate and get a knife to distribute the cream cheese. Too expensive for something so sloppy. My latest visit was quite different. I went in just for a cup of coffee and yet the girl at the register was so up on her customer service, the sweets behind the display were so tempting and the place was filled with cheery patrons. A nicer experience indeed.

What a cute little place! I’m in the area for a work trip and I’m alternately wishing we had a place like this back home in Honolulu, and thanking my lucky stars that we don’t — because if we did I might weigh 800lbs from these crazy good pastries! Quick & friendly service + good prices + delicious pastries & sandwiches = big thumbs up from me!

I heard this place had good bagels, what we didn’t hear it also had good bagel sandwiches, coffee, muffins, staff, environment and cookies! YEEHAW! We came here all thanks to the Taste of the Riverwalk 2012 event, where you get to try all these awesome restaurants on the riverwalk. Big Apple Bagels really stood out. Not only were their samples some of the largest portions that night with a ¼ bagel sandwich(vegan friendly too), 1 chocolate mini-muffin, 1 cinnamon mini-muffin and a Dixie cup of coffee, but their staff was stupendous! Talk about super excited, happy people behind a counter! That’s what I want at 6 am before I go to work in the morning. I can only hope the food and staff is as great as they were in their natural setting(during regular hours of operation and not necessarily trying to impress typical local customers). Another cool thing Big Apple offers is the little library shelf outside of the building where you take a book, leave a book based on the honor system. Wow. Who does that?!
