A decent place to get supplies in downtown San Antonio. It’s not easy finding places to get groceries or drug store items downtown. There’s this place, and the CVS down the Riverwalk from this place. I do like the old vintage sign out in front. They went to great lengths to preserve the storefront façade here. The inside is just like any other Walgreens you’ve ever been to. The service here was fast, and professional. If you need San Antonio or Texas souvenirs, this is a good place to go. They’ve got lots of cheap stuff with Texas stamped on it. They sell beer, but not a very good variety, but the prices are okay. For beer, I recommend going down the Riverwalk to the CVS. You can drink on the river.

This is a very busy Walgreens. More often than not there is a line at the checkout. Other than that it is your standard Walgreen store. The location is great if you are downtown. I am sure the location is very popular for tourists. Everyone always forgets something when they travel :) I do love the vintage sign at this location!!!

***ATTNMILITARYANDRETIREES*** Walgreens does NOT accept TRICARE ins. I tried to change to them yesterday since we are moving and found out they do not accept TRICARE nationwide.

We spotted the Lovely Old Neon Walgreens sign right away but the CVS was closer to the Drury Plaza Hoteles when my other half had a last millennium old ski injury start to bother her this millennium knee. So we/she hobbles to the CVS where they would NOT let her try on the knee brace that we BOUGHT — in their bathroom or any other more private room… that they Obviously have.(I of course would have dropped my pants in a second based on that, but that is why opposites attract ;~) We trek back to the Drury, the brace is too big and we return it and head for that cool old Walgreens sign. SKIP the CVS, they couldn’t care less about you hobbling around.(BUY the Stock but don’t shop here, no there there for The People ;~) Abien and all the staff at this Walgreens are great. They not only let her try on the brace in the bathroom, they let her try on THREE braces before buying one. First rate. Patronize this lovely Walgreens for the kind of service you don’t expect anymore but it sure is nice to find. Thanks Abien!

The outside of this walgreens looks very nostalgic; it has the old neon signage and this doesn’t stay open too late into the night, unlike other Walgreens you may be use to. Sucks, since it seems to be in a nice downtown area, but oh wells. Inside, you can find the usual items you would normally find at Walgreens, but with a heavier emphasis on San Antonio souvenir. The checkout area consists of 4 lanes, which moved very fast. Overall, decent Walgreens to located conveniently near the Riverwalk.

Good customer service and great supplies in a pinch. Some questionable patrons may frequent the store so be careful. But clean, organized and great prices as expected.

This is the place to go if you actually want a DRUGstore, unlike the CVS over on Losoya Street. I was able to find everything I needed, and the employees were very helpful. Skip going to the CVS – you’ll find everything you need here, without the inconvenience of going to the Riverwalk.

I’m in San Antonio for a conference and have developed an eye infection. My doctor back home called in some eye drops. When I arrived at the pharmacy, it was just closing. But, the pharmacist heard my dilemma and went back inside and got the medication for me. Great service with a smile!

There are a few great things about this store. One, it opens at 7AM so if you are visiting San Antonio, staying near the Riverwalk and realize you forgot to pack something, you can still pick it up first thing in the morning. Two, they have hot coffee, individually brewed to order via a self-service machine. Three, they have pretty decent prices on a few souvenir items(I particularly noticed the SA baseball caps for around $ 6, which is not a bad price at all if you’ve been shopping around). PS. Parking might be a challenge, so if you are nearby it might be best to walk here. PPS. Pharmacy is only open M — F, 9:00AM-6:00PM

A Walgreens downtown? Yes, thank you. I love being able to get the things I need without leaving the city. The sign is part of what pulls you in, it’s old and cool looking. But inside it’s still like almost any other Walgreens. Well, except for a couple of things. Café W — yes, a Walgreen’s café with fountain drinks and coffee. And the hours? They close at 6pm.

I spent a week in a hotel in downtown San Antonio recently. This may seem odd since I live in San Antonio, but it’s just my life maintaining its awesome. Anyway. So, here I am in downtown San Antonio 34 miles from my apartment. I found myself in need of fountain coke(my go-to cure for too much partying), a tablecloth, and a cowboy hat. Seriously. That was on my shopping list. A coworker recommended I try this downtown Walgreens. I wasn’t sure I would be able get what I needed in one stop. But, I gave it a shot. Turns out, this location has a soda fountain! Rare in any other Walgreens I’ve been to. They sell table cloths and other linens(nothing fancy, but will get the job done) and of all crazy things, they have an entire aisle of leather jackets and cowboy hats! DINGDINGDING! We have a winner! So, as far as all other Walgreens go, any that have the variety of things this one has get 5 stars in my book — it’s by far as good as a Walgreens gets!
