Great atmosphere and great food. The sweet potato fries are to die for and the brisket was moist not dry. Would go again!

First time eating here. Very disappointed with the food in that it’s not a good value. Not a real BBQ place. Serves«downtown» BBQ. They had a special on ribs and decided to order that with a chopped sandwich. After waiting approximately 10 minutes the cashier came over apologized for running out of the ribs so we ordered a burger with fries. The burger combo wasn’t worth $ 10. Was the size of a whataburger jr.

Oops. Went back to this BBQ joint because of a great experience I had two years ago. Worst mistake. Service is bad now, little girl behind counter was rude and inattentive. My order was forgotten until I walked up to the kitchen to ask about it. Food is horrible. Avoid at all costs.

The brisket was tough and chewy. No containers for the barbecue sauce, you had to hold onto a flimsy plate with one hand and try to get barbecue sauce that squirted everywhere. All the side orders were messed up and placed on the wrong plates… And did I mention they were cheap and flimsy plates!!! The guys loved the cheap beer, but I came for barbecue and it was not good!

Let’s start with the girl at the front counter. She was either not happy to be there or woke up on the wrong side of the bed. She was rude, negative and very short tempered with her customers. Our order went like this. Can we order the 3 meat, 2 side plate called the porky. The first meat we asked for was a chicken breast and she said no I cannot do that(no substitutions… Ok… I get that but write that on the menu then), second meat, the girl said that’s not ready yet(no sorry). Ok so let’s try 3 other meats and we were lucky they had those. Then we ordered a side of fried pickles and she said we don’t have those! Are you kidding me?!? We ordered ONE plate of food and you said you could not fulfill 3 of our requests! Ridiculous. If she was at least a little remorseful or apologetic about it I might not be writing this review. Also we asked for 2 water cups and she charged us $ 2 per cup! Steep price for water. But we weren’t going to say anything because we did not want to deal with her unpleasantness anymore. The food… It was ok. Nothing I would come back for. It came out fast. The meat wasn’t warm and none of the plastic ware was full therefore we had to ask for forks and knives. We sat by a closed window and there were several flies on the window and I had to shoo flies away from my food approximately 5 times. Hopefully if you visit this place you have a different experience with a different person taking your order and more stock on food. Good luck.

This restaurant is worth the trip to the south side — here’s why: 1) Cool Dive Vibe: The place is filled with old wooden walls and tables, probably some shellac, and televisions broadcasting ESPN 2) Eco-Friendly: There are signs around the restaurant to promote using only what you need. 3) the FOOD: My grilled chicken sandwich was so delicious and juicy. The avocado was fresh, and the french fries were crisp. Everything was awesome. I plan to go back for a burger, pronto.

Well, the Decores nice service was good but I have to say that it was just okay. Nothing was remarkable about it in my opinion. If you if you really want good barbecue in this area look up Big Bibs. I think it is the best in the city. This was simply just okay.

Don’t have any idea if the food is any good because it’s been ½ an hour and we have not gotten it. This place is not that busy and we didn’t order anything out of the ordinary… We finally just got a refund and left.

Oldie texan bbq, totally worth trying if you happen to pass by San Antonio. The price is pretty inexpensive though I had one of my best bbq experiences there! I had a mix of brisket and pork ribs and it was awesome. The decoration was also appealing. Totally recommended.

Travelbuddy#1 and I stopped for our first taste of Texas BBQ in San Antonio on our way to Louisiana last week. Just off the freeway, we found Bobby G’s. We wedged ourselves between a truck and a pole in on the skirt of gravel around the building that served as their parking lot. There was some pavement in the front, but it was occupied. The cashier was really nice and helpful, but the beef ribs we ordered were mediocre even though we were tired and starving. I enjoyed the sports uniforms stapled to the ceiling. Bathroom stalls had unsettlingly low doors and a fascinating scrapbook-like wall montage of magazine clippings and photos. Maybe if they put as much effort into their cooking as they clearly do into their decoration, I’d come back.

Good and fast service. We had brisket and ribs. Both are delicious and cooked perfectly. Brisket has niced smoked flavor. Ribs are tender and tasty. My favorite side was creamed corn. Kids had grilled cheese and fries and loved ‘em. Beer is served cold in frozen mugs. Great place to watch the big games, too.

BBQ is great. Iced tea is sweet. Bobby G is so so nice. He made sure to shake our hand on the way out. While we were ordering, a girl with a bit of an attitude came in and wanted french fries ASAP. It was an odd request that he handled with«I’ll be right with you after I finish with this customer.» We will be back again and again!

Friendly service, lovely slow cooked meats. The brisket and pulled pork were smokey, tender, and flavorful. The bbq sauce was thick, and was a great complement to the meats. The setting is casual, and what you’d expect from a bbq restaurant. The parking lot here has limited spaces, so you might end up parking on the street. Overall, this was a great way to introduce ourselves to Texas style bbq.

Like Bolner’s not too far away, I’d be plenty happy to have Bobby G’s in my neighborhood rather than a Bill Millers. Overall, this is a nice neighborhood BBQ joint that also offers burgers — which I have not tried. The prices are a bit less than Bolner’s but there’s a trade off in my humble opinion and that is the sides. Now, keep in mind that I have not tried all the sides at Bobby G’s, just the mac n’ cheese and the onion rings but the comparatively the sides at Bolner’s were much better. The mac n cheese was not cheesy enough and was watery. Conversely, the mac at Bolner’s was stick to yo ribs thick, and mega gooey. The rings I had at Bobby’s were ok. They had a very nice crunch but seemed a bit overcooked for my liking. The flavor wasn’t so bad, just a tad overcooked. Now onto the reason we all go to BBQ joints — the meat… I ordered the 2 meat plate. I ordered up the sausage and the moist brisket. Both the brisket and the sausage had a very strong smoke flavor, which I liked a lot. The sausage was finely textured on the inside, had a decent amount of spice, full smoke flavor, and an almost pinkish hue. The sausage was pretty good in my opinion. The brisket, like the sausage was very smokey. However, I ordered moist brisket and I got lean brisket. This is a no go in my book. Luckily, the free white bread and BBQ sauce on each table helped me get it down my gullet. Like I said, it had a nice smoke taste but in the case of this lean brisket, was just too dry for my liking. The décor is quite nice as far a BBQ joints go. They have a couple of TVs tuned to sports as well as plenty of other items adorning the walls. In addition, I do believe they have an outdoor seating area. Overall, the restaurant was nice and the service good. The sides need some work and they need to get all their orders right(moist not lean).

The office lunch crew hit Bobby G’s for the first time today. Despite the rough-looking neighborhood, this is one cool little place! Great ambience and very much a Texas icehouse vibe. The menu extends beyond barbecue to sandwiches and other things(I didn’t study it in depth), so everyone is sure to find something they like. I had the $ 6.99 «St. Louis» pork ribs special with two sides(creamed corn and coleslaw). I added a sausage link and a Big Red to complete the meal. Once at the table, I also bartered a small piece of rib meat for some of Chris A’s brisket [Spoiler alert: watch this space for his review!]. The creamed corn was pretty good, but the coleslaw was only so-so. The sausage was good, but it wasn’t the kind you normally get at a barbecue place: it was pinkish and more like a German sausage(somewhere between a Knackwurst and a Bauernbratwurst) with very little smoke. As I said, it tasted okay, but I don’t think I’ll order it again. The small piece of brisket I sampled was lean – perhaps a bit too lean – with a nice smoky character. But my favorite was the two pork spareribs. These weren’t particularly tender, but I don’t mind working for my pork. What really struck me was the sweet glaze that reminded me of a Korean barbecue sauce more than something you’d expect in Texas. Auténtico? Maybe not, but it was a nice surprise that really made the meal for me. If you’re in the area, give Bobby G’s a try!

Excellent BBQ and the ambiance is very nice and inviting. I love the patio area, though the day I was there the flies had assumed control. I hope they can get this under control so the space is human friendly. When I go to a BBQ place for the first time I always like the multi-meat plate to try several things in one visit. I went with the three meat plate, pork ribs, brisket and chicken. All were very good. The BBQ sauce is slightly sweet and complimented all three meats well.(Though the meats were good without it). This place is 3 miles from work. They have now been added to my lunch rotation. Yum.
