every time i come here, i struggle to decide what i want. everything they make is delicious! especially the cookies — double chocolate is my favorite. what really puts this place over the top though is the staff — they are always incredibly friendly and helpful. (special shoutout to the sweet cashier who gave me a free cookie for running to the bakery this morning!) absolutely love this place and wish i made it here more often!

Unlike the cookies, which are always wonderful, today we had two dense berry scones. One had little bits of dried berry that had not rehydrated and the other had been cut in half, smeared with jam, and slopped together. Horrible.

The smell of fresh baked bread hits you majesticly in the face as you walk in. You are greeted by super friendly staff and there are tons of samples layed out. I could have eaten them all! I ended up with a pecan pie square. Amazing! Good prices too. I’ll be back.

Great selection of treats which are all equally delicious. They have generous samples of everything and the customer service is outstanding!

Returned to San Antonio for a business trip and pretty much got a rental car just so I could eat here.
I adore their cinnamon rolls – huge, perfectly baked (never overdone anywhere, never underdone in the middle), beautifully, frosted somewhere closer to generous than modest but the frosting does not overpower the lovely cinnamon flavor. Their Snickeroo coffee is lightly spiced and so fun with a dash of cream. Less than $ 5 for a coffee and a pastry.
I filled a box to bring back to my colleagues – kolaches, muffins, cinnamon rolls – and was lauded as a bakery-​hero. Love this place. Can’t wait to come back to San Antonio so I can come back here!

These are easily the best cream cheese kolaches I’ve ever had. The staff was really nice, too.
The trouble is, it’s so good, I can’t go there very often, or I will end up obese like most San Antonians.

Bought a cake for my daughters bday here and it was amazing. Easily tops any cake I have had save for the one my grandmother would make (typical for East Texas where she lived it had enough butter and sugar to kill a horse).
Also I have had a muffin, sweet roll and kolache there. I am usually a pop the top type of muffin guy, like Elaine (sp?) from Seinfeld. This one the whole thing was great. The kolache is made with thick sausage which makes it a bit greasy for me. Everything is great — give it a try.
They also have coffee.

Broadway Daily Bread does it well. Besides employing the friendliest people in San Antonio, the breads, breakfast options, and desserts are absolutely wonderful. The cutting board full of samples is awesome, usually causing me to over-​purchase and over-​tip. I never regret either.
Best muffin in San Antonio. Hands down.
When I’m in town, I like to buy a loaf of «Birdman Bread» which is soft and heavily seeded. I’ll pick up a banana bran muffin, sometimes a few oatmeal raisin cookies, and another for the road. If it’s Friday or Saturday definitely try the blueberry pecan scone (it’s iced, but the scone itself is soft and not overly sweet, allowing for the blueberries and pecans to provide the flavor). The coffee is also very good, specifically the Snickerdoodle. Seasonally, their apricot pistachio bars, pumpkin muffins, gingerbread biscotti, and gingerbread scones keep me coming back.
Once again, Broadway Daily Bread does it well. I absolutely adore this bakery, and hope others will as well!

This is one of my favorite bakeries in San Antonio. They make the best biscotti, cookies & breads! I’ve been a customer occasionally over the past 20 years & have always been satisfied with the quality of products & customer service level.

Great example of why small businesses is better. The product is fantastic, from their cinnamon rolls to the jalapeño cheese bread. The staff is very personable and knowledgable. Everyone there is a baker.
They run out of a lot of their speciality items every now and then but if you adjust your schedule right and actually ask the staff which times are best they will always hook you up.

Daily Bread is a locally owned bakery that has become a fixture in Alamo Heights. My Saturday morning routine involves taking my three year old daughter to Daily Bread and letting her try some of the always generous samples while I pick out breakfast for the family. The muffins are absurdly delicious, the lemon bars are amazing, and I always end up with too much. One thing that my wife loves is that they have cinnamon rolls without raisens available. My favorite is the almond croissant.
The breads are wonderful, too. They really make a sandwich something special.
The biggest strength and biggest weakness is that their offerings rotate daily. Certain popular items are there every day, but some of our favorites are only offered once a week. I’d rather have that, though, than see their very diverse selection decline. Every time I go in, I see something new I want to try.
The staff are uncannily helpful and pleasant but move the line quickly. The coffee is very good, too. I often grab a couple for me and my co-​counsel on trial days. It makes the whole courtroom smell delicious. Snickerdoodle is my secret weapon. Around holidays, they have some impressive special order items, too. Daily Bread is part of the community. I get happy whenever I think about it.

Its hard to give proper stars to this place since I divide my stars by category, but here goes.
This place has been around a long time, I think 2 decades, but Ive only been a regular customer for half that time.
For brownies, cookies, and other sugar sweetened flour based treats, this place gets 5 stars. You can’t go wrong here, and the prices are fair and reasonable.
For specialty breads, like the famous seedy Birdman types, they get 5 stars also. Very unique flavors and textures. I feel like a Cockatoo when I slather on butter on their seed based breads! Yum! Squawk!
Now, here is where I put on my critics hat: if you want «artisan» type white or whole wheat breads, do understand what they make is quite heavy and plain, its like the fresh baked breads we were all used to prior to the 1990s, when thick and heavy was pretty much what you got everywhere. But styles and craftmanship has been upped tremendously, so for really tasty, light and airy breads good for sandwiches, spreads, cheeses, etc, your much better off going to Whole Foods or HEB Central Market.
Visit the bakery sections at WF or CM, then visit BDB and you’ll see and taste what I am talking about. When it comes to breads, I admit to having extremely high standards, as I know what the benchmarks are!
Also if you call yourself a daily bakery, you need to make and offer croissants on a daily basis, not just once a week. Yes, they are hard to make and take lots of time, but croissant making is what separates the pros from the amateurs! Sadly the above situations concerning croissants and more modern ie old fashioned artisan type breads that are not brick heavy and lacking airyness lower the stars to a ho-​hum 3.

I walked in on a humid afternoon and was greeted by a super friendly cashier. She took my order for a cinnamon roll and I got a to go menu. I took a quick glance at their other items such as cookies, muffins and key lime bars. All looked delish. I went to one of the 2 tables to consume my cinnamon roll. It wasn’t the best and it wasn’t gargantuan like the big blob of sugar and dough served at Lulu’s but bigger doesn’t always mean better. I still think the best cinnamon rolls are the ones made at home. But BDB’s cinnamon roll is superior to Lulu’s and Guenther House. I just wish they were open later and on Sundays too.

I think this is one of the two best bakeries in San Antonio, the other being Bakery Lorraine.
The bread is superb, the muffins and scones are the best in town, and the people who work there are passionate about what they do, and could not be more friendly.
I have tried many of the Breads, Birdman is my favorite. Entirely whole grain and oats sweetened with honey or just the grains in the unsweetened version, this bread is excellent for sandwiches, or on it’s own with olive oil with a good soup.
They have too many other wonderful baked goods to list.
They always have a large sample board so you can discover new favorites.
We are spoiled because we can walk here, and doubly spoiled to even have a neighborhood bakery. Supporting local
business makes your neighborhood a better place to live and commercial baked goods are no substitute.

Whenever I am in the area, I stop at Daily Bread. There are plenty of samples to try, and a huge slab of REAL butter in case that tickles your fancy; and the samples are generous. Everything I have had at BDB is awesome. Goods are baked fresh every day; there is also a ‘day old’ selection which is cheaper. My favorites are the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and sticky buns. Everything is soft, fresh, and melt in your mouth delicious. I have yet to try the coffee there, but I know for sure that they don’t do any specialty coffee drinks (i.e. lattes); they have different blends but it’s straight coffee.

Broadway Daily Bread is actually a bakery (unlike some other local places with «bakery» in the name). It’s quite dangerous, because it’s one of those places with a giant sample board at the counter. They have kolaches, muffins, brownies, cookies, scones, breads, and my recent favorite item, a butterscotch zucchini muffin. They also have a few different blends of coffee and one or two tiny tables, although this really isn’t the place to come and sit/​hang: it’s a bakery, not a café.
When I’m up early and feeling magnanimous, I stop here on the way to work and pick up a box of assorted items. For ’09, the prices are very reasonable. I have this fantasy that they’ll expand and start serving sandwiches and soups, but the baked goods are dreamy enough on their own, to be honest.
I recommend parking on the side street rather than on Broadway itself, since backing out of the Broadway spaces is a little harrowing. But seriously, do your coworkers a favor and come try Broadway Daily Bread.

I agree with most of the reviews. They have very fast service and great customer service. The cashiers were very energetic and happy. They would also recommend items they personally like and big sellers.
Please note there are only two small tables and a bench, so don’t think this is like Starbucks or a café. Not a study environment like Local coffee.
The pecan muffin was fluffy sweet and filling.
The chocolate covered oatmeal cookie is a diabetic nightmare, but oh so rich and tasty.
The Kolache was «alright.» I tasted both the cheddar and regular. It does not warrant the high price.
The grape bread was excellent.
Overall, good place for some unique breads. I will be coming back.

I know people came here and say their Cinnamon rolls are great, I agree, but have you tried their Cinnamon Twists yet?
I ordered 2 dozen Cinnamon Rolls this morning for work and I tried the sample Cinnamon Twist while waiting and it smacked me right on the face when I realized how freaking good it is, so I ordered another dozen Cinnamon Twist. I had a huge bill, but hey, my clients were freak happy and that’s all that matters.

What a great little neighborhood bakery.
They have delicious fresh made breads, a giant variety of muffins and cookies, great scones and biscotti. When I walk in and see the display case I want one of everything. Fortunately common sense kicks in and I am able to restrain myself.
Get there early and get one of their fresh from the oven cinnamon rolls. The lemon with ricotta cookies are to die for. On Fridays the have a bacon and cheddar scone.
Neighbor hood bakeries are so nice and this one believes in quality in both product and service.

Birdman Bread and Chocolate Chip Oatmeal cookies. That’s all you need to know to get started here. If you want to venture into their other tasty treats, feel free, but those are the two items that keep me coming back for more!
I’m growing weary of big box establishments that try to provide everything. This is an example of an owner knowing their strength and continuing to take advantage of that strength. Keep it going!
Although I’ve limited my bread intake over the past year, this is my go to place for those times I need a treat. Here you know you’re getting baked goods made using only the best stuff out there. No artificial nothing (that I’m aware of)!
I have yet to find a bread better than Birdman Bread or a cookie better than the Chocolate Chip Oatmeal, and THAT is worth 5 stars to me.
