Where to begin? I used to love this place. Even with the ridiculous wait times. But after today? Absolutely not. I had a dead bug in my latte, accidentally had it in my mouth, spit it out on the table, and all the manager said when I called him over was«someone made a boo boo!» Not funny. He was very unapologetic, which I would have accepted because I get that things happen. I only got offered another free latte which, to be honest, I was too scarred from to accept. None of our table’s eggs were cooked properly. Overall the service and product was just poor. Will not be coming back.

Bottomless mimosas on the weekends! I love the atmosphere at Candlelight. Such a good spot to hang out with friends/family and enjoy some coffee. Brunch was decent, but really… Bottomless mimosas!

This coffeehouse is a great location for anytime of they day studying and brunch in the mornings during the weekend. Candlelight is location in a small house with plenty of seating, a nice bar area, and an outdoor seating area. Overall, this location is average on the noise level, with it only getting loud during peak hours and on weekends. There are different seating arrangements that include tables and lounging areas with couches and love seats. When seated in the tables, it can be a tight fit if it is crowded and is hard to move around the tables. They have an variety of food to order from and beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic in variety. I have tried their pastas, sandwiches, soups, and entrees with all of them being great. You do have to order your drinks and food at the counter and they will give you a table marker. Their brunch on the weekends are great! They have a generous serving size for a good price. Also, the idea of «unlimited» mimosas is great! Their breakfast is hearty and is made fresh. I recommend this location if you are looking for a good brunch! This is a well rounded coffee shop that stays open late and serves delicious food and drinks. I can stay here and study for hours without any problems. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Food was excellent, as were the drinks. The way people were greeted and seated was very unique, with a long line wrapping around the bar where you(well most people) ordered drinks and chose what they wanted off the menu while waiting to be seated. You paid the cashier before going to your table. No one refilled drinks –you went and battled with those in the winding line for the(lone) baristas attention for a refill.

I have been to Candlelight twice now. I came down to Fort Sam for an Army school, and needed to find a space to study/work that had coffee, free wifi and good food. Sure, there’s Panera but I wanted something more local. THISPLACEISFANTASTIC! They have a full bar, awesome food, free wifi and excellent coffee. It’s also very socially acceptable to sit by yourself on your laptop and work. It’s awesome, I highly recommend this place!!!

Great bunch place! Only draw back is the massive wait on a Sunday. I had the red velvet pancakes and they are definitely top notch! I also that you can serve your own mimosas!

This place has a great brunch! This place doesn’t open until 10, but you better come early! On the weekend, they have lines out the door.

The food was tasteless & Snooty atmosphere. One server was giving attitude & made us move. Never again for brunch, I spent way to much $$ for tasteless food & bad attitudes.

I’ve never had anything here that I didn’t love. The staff is attentive without being all up on you. The food looks so pretty you almost don’t want to eat it but you will because it’s freakin’ tasty! And let’s not forget about the plethora of siptastic beverages. Coffee, tea, wine, and beer… oh my!

Candlelight Coffee is a great place to get brunch if you’re recovering from a stomach flu, because most of their menu items are super bland and underwhelming. Every time I come here I spend way too much on mediocre food and regret it! Even classic and simple brunch dishes, like Eggs Benedict, come out undercooked with a watery, translucent, and tasteless hollandaise. The Huevos Rancheros are inexplicably bland as well. This minor setback doesn’t dissuade the masses of bottomless mimosa seekers on weekends, though! The semi bottomless mimosa is $ 12.50, and really only makes sense financially if you have more than four. Lastly, the service here leaves something to be desired each time. It’s an obviously bustling place each time that I’ve gone, which leads me to be more sympathetic when food takes awhile to be made. But besides that, the waitstaff is not particularly helpful or friendly. All and all: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not sure where to begin when it comes to this little jewel of a place. Turn right onto St. Mary’s, travel a few hundred feet and find yourself at one of the coziest little spots in San Antonio, TX. Upon entering this establishment, you’re greeted by a bouquet of various wines for every level of wine drinker. They boast a great selection of coffee as well — whether you’re drinking it onsite or taking it home to apply your own barista skills. In the mood for tea — they got you! A «pinkies out» Tea Drinker — belly up to the bar love! Sweet Tooth tugging at your waistline — there’s cake for that! They do offer 3 – 4 different incarnations of the most, moist, delectable baked goods you can sink your teeth into. Need something more substantial, there’s sandwiches, there’s soup, there’s food that’ll save your soul! Eat at the bar, gather at the table, snuggle on the couches or sit in outdoors — escape the hustle, recharge your mind and fill the cracks of your mortal coil with great food, good drink and the laughter of friends!

If you think waiting 40 minutes for bottomless Mimosas is worth it then go for it. If you’re looking for great breakfast FOOD then go somewhere else. Not satisfied. Inefficient service and soggy waffles? No thank you.

We came here on a drizzly Sunday morning for brunch but even the weather couldn’t keep this place from being packed. As we walked in we noticed 1) how festive it was decorated for the holidays, 2) all the coffee waiting to be ground up(which smelled amazing) and 3) the huge line of people waiting to put in their orders. We were worried we wouldn’t have anywhere to sit but we didn’t have any problems finding a table. In fact with out a ticket showing you have ordered they won’t let you grab a seat. Simple but pretty smart idea for not letting people save seats. We ordered items from their seasonal holiday menu. I got the waffles. They were decent but nothing special and honestly a little disappointing. Based on the description they sounded amazing. It looks like most people order mimosa’s for brunch as they were hugely popular(it’s serve yourself all you can drink for $ 12). They have plenty of tables inside/outside and lots of clusters of comfy chairs/couches. Would definitely recommend coming with a small group looking to relax and enjoy a lazy Sunday morning.

I honestly don’t really remember what food I ordered the last time I was here and it doesn’t even matter. Why? Because the only reason you are here is to spend hours upon hours pouring yourself clearly excessive amounts of mimosa to your own specifications. You don’t like places giving you watered down mimosas? Totally not an issue here. You want to drink a little bit but want to make sure you can get back to your house without pissing off the police and all of your live savings to boot? Not a problem at Candlelight. Why? Because you pour your own orange juice and champagne so any fault with the ratio lies squarely on you. The last time I went, there was some decent people watching though I think our group probably engaged in enough antics and crudely snide remarks(often directed at each other) that we may have been the target of some of that watching(oops). Still, even if you happen to have a couple of petulant members in your drinking party, this is a good location for it. The inside of Candlelight is cozy enough, but I prefer the outside because why wouldn’t I rather be on an outside patio? Who doesn’t want an outside patio? Also, if you drink yourself into a stupor and don’t like breakfast food, Cullum’s Attagirl is really close. Overall, I’d come back here most likely as a starting point before engaging in more activities in the adjacent neighborhoods.

I don’t know why there aren’t more late-night coffee shops like this. Real drinks, tea, coffee, dessert… giant pieces of cake… cozy places to sit… all available at night. Ahhhh. And, they have a lovely outdoor patio area with cats roaming around to keep you entertained. I haven’t tried any of the real food or brunch, but certainly plan to.

I really have experienced better… Friendlier service, better music. Pop punk emo electronica fusion? at a café? please. The setup is kinda weird. Its certainly spacious enough for you and a friend to sit and talk but there are other nicer places to do that. Those other places also have a nicer waitstaff and broader selection.

Worth the wait! Got there about 10:45 am on a Sunday and the place was jumping already. Bit of a wait for the order itself but gave me time to decide between seasonal pancakes or French toast. Opted the for the seasonal French toast and ‘semi’-bottomless mimosas. I was really concerned how cinnamon toast crunch was going to play out on the French toast, worked very well! Nice large ciabatta bread slices with crumbs of the cereal was excellent. The thick cut bacon was on point as well. The mimosas can’t got wrong, self filling too, so sometimes the mimosas as a little light looking. Seating was self seating, not a lot of room inside that’s ok, it got louder inside as the time passed. Opted for the outside patio, shaded well. Umbrella tables available too. Was nice on a Sunday. You’ll find all the hipsters coming and going. The people watching was fun as well, especially after a few mimosas. Definitely recommend and will go back.

I’ve heard about Candlelight for years, but this was the first time I made it there for brunch. We arrived at 11am, which is always the worst time for brunch without a reservation. What’s different about this place is that you stand in line to order your food and drinks from a cashier before sitting down, though the setup of the restaurant looks more like a standard dining place. It took us about 40 minutes to even get to the register and by that time, the butternut squash quiche that I had my heart set on sold out. I settled for the garden omelet which was decent, nothing special. My friends ordered the Cinnamon Toast Crunch french toast(super sweet but delicious), another omelet, and eggs benedict with smoked salmon which was quite tasty. For $ 12.50 you can get bottomless mimosas that you pour yourself, which was a great deal. No line for refills and no judgement on the juice-champagne ratio. I may be back when it’s less crowded, as I think I’d enjoy the coffeehouse feel a lot more.

Found this place on Unilocal when we were looking for bottomless mimosa brunch. We got there right at 10 on a Sunday and boy was it busy! You order first and then sit down. There is SO much outdoor seating it was awesome. The food came out quick and was pretty good. They have games that people can take and play at their table and you go up and refill your own mimosas. The only thing I wished for is that the glasses for mimosas were bigger so we didn’t have to go back so often. The mimosas only go until 2 on the weekends so to get your $ 12.50 bottomless mimosa value get there at 10 and hang out! We will definitely be back!

Well this place was a long line wait, I would say it’s worth it. Great atmosphere and great food. You will love their Mamosa’s and if you’re daring enough you can get their«semi bottom» Mamosa. Beware of stray cats but otherwise you will have a dandy time!

This place was amazing !! Got here 15 minutes before their Sunday brunch amongst many others(good sign that I finally found a good place to eat in San Antonio!) when I stepped in I fell in love with the atmosphere immediately. The way you order first then sat down was something I thought was really organized for such a cramped place it worked perfectly! The mimosa is on point even though I thought it was a bit pricy it was totally worth it! Also had the egg Benedict with smoked salmon which was probably the best one I ever had! Definitely a must try if you are a brunch person!

This is a lovely place. Older building is a character just remember if you come during the day it’s quite warm inside the AC doesn’t work too well. The food is yummy… pancakes kind-of-dry… like one of the older owners of this coffee house. Never seems to smile or even greet anyone as they walked into the door… I watched him for a while… I noticed smiles only at the young gay men you know your cradle robbers… I don’t hate just interesting!!!

This place is great for bottomless mimosas. It is 12.50 on Saturdays and Sunday’s. You get to make your own mimosa. The place is very warm and very tight. There isn’t much space to move around. You order at the register and then they give you a country name. The food is brought out very quickly. The food is mediocre. Their pancakes suck. Everything else is okay and price isn’t bad. It isn’t the best but with the bottomless mimosa deals on weekends, it will do. The potatoes have great flavor. I wish they were crunchier.

Candlight Coffeehouse is one of those staple establishments that has been around for quite some time. Opened for over 20 years it makes sense why they have such a loyal following. Located off of St. Mary’s St they have a great location to be the host of a great lunch meeting or drinks and dinner. They have a lovely patio located towards the back and there are some plush lounge chairs and couches that will suck you in and never allow you to leave Candlelight! They feature a full menu from sandwiches to pasta. If you’re looking for a great brunch spot this is the place to go to. I love their Iced Tea of the Day as it is always changing and today I had the Black Currant; which was amazing! They have a great staff who are very interactive and personal. The owners are on-hand and love to give great customer service to their customers. Ordering at the Candlelight is super easy as they have their full menu on display on chalkboards at the bar. This is a place to come spend Sunday Funday or grab a decent meal. I just had the chicken alfredo and the sauce itself was amazing! Super tangy and rich in flavor, you can tell this sauce was not out of a can. The garlic bread they send out with their pasta was baked fresh and had a nice garlic buttery taste to it. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great place to hang out with their friends and family. I will be checking out this place again very soon.

My husband and I stopped in for a glass of wine and two slices of their Italian Crème Cake. Not sure if this cake is homemade but it is surely decadent. I love the soft lighting and the cozy corners you can have conversations in. This place is very inviting and the staff is very friendly! This is not our first time here but this is the first time to Unilocal The Candlelight Café.

Bottomless mimosas! Need I say more? Great atmosphere. Great coffee. Great food. Definitely a highly recommended brunch spot on the weekends. It does get a bit crowded so plan to come early to snag a spot. It’s open seating so keep your eye on that table that’s about to leave. If the weather is nice, have a seat outside on the patio. Once again, bottomless mimosas!
