Today I had the chicken Alfredo lasagna. I’m not a big Alfredo fan, so I’m not quite sure why I got this. I ate half of it. Don’t get me wrong; if you like Alfredo, you will enjoy this. This is not a dis. The lasagna was layered with chicken, artichokes, spinach, mozzarella and ricotta with the Alfredo sauce. Now, the supreme pizza the husband ordered. Delicious. The 12″ would easily feeds two. We took half of it home. Add salads and you’re golden. The salads are pretty good: lettuce, black olives, onions. Choice of the house Italian or other. Today I went with ranch, my favorite. Go there.

The food was great, service was fast. Very accommodating for a big group. Had more than 20 people in our lunch party. Garlic bread is delicious, side salad included. I ordered eggplant parmasiana with the rigotoni with lemon butter sauce.

I have great memories of dining at the Broadway store in late 80’s when I first relocated from New York. Grandma and Grandpa were always nice to visit. The tomato bread and rigatoni meatballs were outstanding then and today they are just as good if not better !

Decent service that was accompanied by absolutely terrible food. The calamari was rubbery beyond belief. The pasta was incredibly inconsistent. One bite was full of brittle, uncooked pasta. The other was mushy, as if the pasta had been left in water for too long. This place used to be fairly decent. I cannot say the same for it now.

This is one of my favorite pizzas in town! A great crispy crust and they pack on the toppings. The atmosphere is lovely for date night, but we’ve also gone there as a larger party and they did a good job with service. Pastas are decent but we really go for the pizza. And sometimes there is live music which is a pleasant treat if you stumble in on accident like we did. It’s a tad pricey but worth it in my book once in a while.

My husband and I visited the restaurant on Monday for the first time and I was severely disappointed in the service and on my husbands entrée. Our calamari was overcooked, chewy and tough. I asked the waitress what was the correct way to say the wine I ordered and she said you can say it however you want because I don’t know. When we told her it was out first visit she seemed to not care. My husband’s tortellini with shrimp tasted good but the cream sauce was so thin it was like they poured milk in the bowl. When I mentioned it to the waitress she said she could get my husband more sauce. She didn’t say let me take the plate and correct the issue or send over the manager or anything. He didn’t want to cause trouble so he said it was ok but as he are the shrimp there was sauce just dripping from it and at the end of the meal there was a bowl of milk/soupy sauce. Overall out first visit was not good and we will NOT be going back. Very disappointed.

First time here at this location. Have to say they have topped the other location by far. Great atmosphere, food hot and fast and waiters and management top notch. Will be back more often to this location.

I think this one thing sums up what kind of Italian restaurant this is for most of you: They have Kraft«Parmesan cheese» in a shaker on the table. The food was too fatty and too salty. I think this place must be for those who are regulars and know a dish they like or for those who don’t know what good Italian food tastes like. I felt like this place was the type of Italian food American’s used to get in the 70’s. This is not what good Italian tastes like anymore. People, expand your horizons! The atmosphere is okay, but not really sure why people would say it’s great. The service sucked. The waitress didn’t know a thing about the wine list or how the food was prepared. She also never answered a question I had to the kitchen. Maybe she was new, but I think she should look for another career because waitressing was not her strong suit.

First time to have their pizza. It’s nice and gooey and full of flavor. The Deluxe was outstanding. I had a side Aladdin and they added anchovies at my request. And my Arnold Palmer was never empty. The other day I had Blue Mussels in lemon cream sauce with added capers over linguini. I recommend it highly!

What a buzz kill. The Mediterranean salad with salmon was inedible. The fish was old and tough. The salad had half a bottle of dressing poured over it. I could not eat the food. Our waitress was super sweet and knew there was a problem with the food. No offer from management for a reduction or credit. This place needs help.

I love a good neighborhood pizza joint and for us, it’s Capparelli’s. I’ll cop to a bias for it, having grown up with it in the 60s, but having a sit-down Capparelli’s with good pizza, cold beer and wine makes living here that much nicer. That said, I’ve found the non-pizza dishes are a little more uneven in quality, having eaten everything from so-so Baked Salmon to a very tender Veal Marsala. Even so, we find the consistently good pizza to be quality crust with more than generous amounts of cheese and sauce plus the usual combination of ingredients to mix and match to our taste — Canadian bacon, mushroom, onion and black olive is a favorite.

My favorite Italian restaurant. Always satisfied whether I have the eggplant Parmesan or meatballs in a boat. Their classic lasagna is awesome. Don’t forget the wine, a very nice selection. Service is very attentive.

Capparelli’s has cornered the market on a post-WW2 demographic with a dead palette, raised on Sysco and Sara Lee. It’s as if Jim’s or Denny’s decided to be Eye-talian. If you dig iceberg lettuce and boxed pasta slathered with cheap-stock sauces, but want to pay $$$ to feel real fancy, this might be your kick. Out of politeness, I’ve eaten here a few times with neighbors, and tried damn-near everything on the menu in hope it might redeem itself. Nope. Totally futile. Not one fresh ingredient or clear flavor in anything. The chicken cacciatore I made as an impoverished college student, using frozen packaged items from Sam’s Wholesale, was way better.

This one is a family favorite over the years. It’s not fussy or modern, but it is consistently good Italian. This is the place you take your foodie friends, and also your grandma who doesn’t want to eat anything weird. It’s a cozy old-school Italian restaurant, right down to the giant mural of famous Italians. I love that the huge windows cover the entire front wall. It’s airy and bright. Capparelli’s is open relatively late for an Olmos Park restaurant(10pm, 11 on Fridays), so you can relax, let the wine flow, and enjoy a family style conversation or date night. On a nice night, from the patio, you can watch the people walking and biking down Main, but the patio is on Mistletoe, so it’s still quiet and a little secluded. The upstairs has a TV, so I usually opt for downstairs if I can. Weekend nights get crowded, but you can easily score a table on weeknights or at lunch. The service is usually wonderful and very friendly, even when it’s crowded. You can call in for takeout, and there’s been many nights we’ve gotten takeout pizza here rather than from one of the less appetizing big chains. The tomato cheese bread is just that. It’s tomatoes and cheese on garlic. It shouldn’t be as good as it is, but sometimes simple works. I have had a lot of the entrees here, and I usually get the Chicken Farfalle Tomato Cream pasta dish, but I get it spicy, and I sub shrimp for the chicken. They’ve always been really accommodating to my changes. The basil pesto sauce is also pretty good. Obviously I’m a sucker for a cream sauce when I go out because I can pretend I don’t know how much actual cream is in it. I try to order food from Italian restaurants that I’m not likely to make at home, and there’s a good selection of unique specialities on Capparelli’s menu. I also enjoy the abundance of dishes with fresh diced Roma tomatoes on top. The freshness and brightness really perks up the heavier cream sauces and saves them from being one-note, especially if you also order them spicy. This is a total neighborhood Italian place. When you want a nice night of conversation with friends, get a couple of bottles of wine and hang out. If you come during a peak time, be aware that the parking right around is a little limited so you may be parking down the street and walking. It’s worth it. Especially if you get one of those cream sauces.

Wowzers! I’ve been a fan of this Capparelli’s location for years! I am actually shocked by the poor reviews from the previous Unilocalers. First of all, YES! I am a San Antonio LIFER! Secondly, I’ve traveled the great United States and tasted several types of Italian food, unfortunately never been to New York OR to the homeland of Italian dishes-Italy, and I believe Capparelli’s is very decent Italian/American food. Of course everyone is different with different pallets, so continue reading if you want a positive review here. There are several Capparelli’s across town. «Capparelli’s On Main» is my favorite. It has the most romantic setting located in the heart of Monte Vista. Each table is decorated with fresh floral arrangements. All the waiters are in neat uniforms. The upstairs area has a great mural of all the mobsters mostly infamous, made famous in movies. They have a beautiful outside dining area that is perfect for parties. The entire location is perfect for photos. They have a great interior designer in my opinion. It’s not a large restaurant and will get packed on most occasions. When you order items that take longer to bake/cook, a good waiter will let you know. Some pasta dishes and Pizza take +10 minutes, etc. The pizza is delicious! I normally order the lunch special which is a 1 topping pizza, drink and salad for less than $ 10. Depending on the topping, your pizza could be greasy, but for the most part, what pizza isn’t? It’s delicious! Perfect amount of sauce and cheese for me. You can order your salad dry with your choice of dressing or you can try their house dressing which is healthier for you and just as tasty. If you’ve never tried it, ask for your salad dry and try it before drenching your salad with it. Most meals come with their buttered Parmesan bread to start. If you’re curious about their sub sandwiches, that’s the bread you’ll be enjoying your sandwich on. The meat ball sandwich is enough for 1 extremely hungry person or 2 people. My mom and I will split the sandwich most times. The eggplant Parmesan sandwich is also very delicious in half and large portions. The pasta’s are pretty good depending on what you order. I will admit their tortellini has a weird texture but maybe it was the cheese filling. It’s not that I hate it, but I only ordered it once, if that tells you anything. I enjoy the shrimp with angel hair pasta during dinners. I frequent this place during lunch on most occasions and can’t pass that awesome pizza combo! I love Capparelli’s! It’s a romantic spot AND! If you’re not full from lunch or dinner and Kate’s Frosting is open two stores down, it’s a nice little stroll to get some delicious dessert.
