Amazingly, I came here and service was really good. This is a first, because service at Harbor Freight usually sucks. Employees usually point, if they even acknowledge you. Here, I had people actually take me to specific product locations, the cashiers were friendly, and when a lot of customers were waiting in line, employees actually opened up new registers. Sadly, this is relatively uncommon for Harbor Freight. It seems most of the time, the service is as cheap as the tools they sell. Of course, like other reviewers said, when you need tools for occasional use, this is the place to go. No sense in going to Home Depot or Craftsman to blow hundreds of dollars on tools that aren’t used for mission critical applications, let alone applications that you might only need the tools 2 or 3 times for. And a lot of the stuff here carries limited lifetime warranties, so when it breaks(depending on the particular item, it likely will), you can get it replaced for free.

Hecho in China and very affordable prices. I wouldn’t buy my tools here if my livelihood depended on it. But for a 10′ outdoor 14GA extension cord for $ 7.00 and a 12 pack of microfiber cloths for $ 4.00, the value cannot be beat. For an around-the-house fixer, Harbor Tools fills the bill. I couldn’t recommend this place if your livelihood depended on quality tools, but for light around the house use, five stars.

Cheap tools. Did I mention they have inexpensive? I have a set of Craftsman tools. They are awesome, they look great and they are durable. I bought them in 1988. There’s no way you can tell I’ve had them for a quarter-century. They should last; I paid enough to buy two sets. Now here’s Harbor Freight. Craftsman tools I couldn’t even conceive of buying from Sears, like a ¾″ 50 – 300 lb torque wrench I purchased last week are easily within reach from a financial standpoint. There are several interesting things about Harbor Freight. One is the help, or rather lack of it in the store. There’s almost always a line at a register, and good luck asking where to find stuff. Another feature is the coupons, the reason for the lines. Of course you want to use them, they are saving you money. In some cases big money. But inevitably, someone gets to the register, digs through their sales papers trying to find their coupons. I’m not even going to mention what happens when someone gets a free item; they end up yelling at the clerk when they can’t find their coupon for yet another tape measure. Most everything in Harbor Freight is «Made in China.» The thought is, the tools are not high quality or lack quality control. Do you want to believe the $ 199 Harbor Freight trailer hitch is as good as the $ 399 hitch you bought from a U.S. manufacturer? A lot of people won’t take that chance with a 7,000 lb trailer hanging off the back of your truck. No one wants to have a critical tool fail; people believe you get what you pay for.

Builders & Do-It-Yourselfers — your tool/rope/tarp/misc deals are here, & well-placed incentives, while they last. Great place to browse for what you need, & might need.

Is it acceptable for a Unilocal review to consist of nothing but grunts? A visit to Harbor Freight fires up my Y chromosome so much I can barely form words. Need a specialty tool for a one-time project? Get it here for less than the price to rent! It may not last as long as the name brand, but it’ll get you through. This place has everything you need and more. I guarantee you’ll find something you’ve never heard of but can’t possibly live without. Much as I love Harbor Freight, I’m no fan of the parking lot of this particular location. It’s tucked into the corner of 410 and Military, where you compete with the traffic from the nearby Walmart and Academy Sporting Goods. Pandemonium! Inside the store is much more pleasant. The aisles are wide, and everything is clearly marked. The employees are friendly and helpful. So check ‘em out. Harbor Freight is the perfect place to go when you feel like a tool.

Some locations can become a freakin’ zoo. But this one always seems to be fairly empty. Today I was assisted by Carmen and she was so nice I had to give this place some Unilocal love. Need a cheap tool for a one-time job? This is the place to go.
