My all time favorite place for a great cup of coffee. The Mexican Vanilla Latte is THE best. Not too sweet. I come here every time I go to San Antonio and I’m never disappointed. Today the staff seemed a little bothered by something, but on most visits they’re super friendly! Sweets /bakery goods are from the bakery gods next door — Bakery Lorraine. If you don’t want to wait next door and just want an almond croissant or muffin, come here. This is a great location too. It’s about 8 minutes from the Riverwalk and it’s located in Pearl District so plenty of shops and sometimes if the weathers good, there’s a farmers market!

After a disappointed late lunch at Bakery Lorraine, we walked over to Local Coffee to get latte to go with our to go dessert. The latte was smooth and love it. Will be back soon.

I got a small coffee and muffin for a total of $ 9.48! The muffin was cold, dry and tasted stale. Service was mediocre. Way over priced for what you get. I prefer Starbucks any day.

A coffee from here and a pastry from Bakery Lorraine make a great breakfast. Sitting outside in the sunshine makes it even better. Gotta love the Pearl area.

Local coffee gets five stars for service, atmosphere and strong Java! I ordered a small cappuccino and it blew me away with taste and perkiness! I was in fact the best I ever drank! The inside was full of trendy dressed patrons all with their apple products out and connected to wifi. iPads and mini pads were everywhere. It was surprisingly quiet in there for bring rather busy and so it is a nice place to read and write and draw. I had my coffee outside in the outdoor patio furniture and watched all the pretty people go by and dogs being walked. The Pearl Brewery complex in which Local is situated is amazingly quiet from urban noise and so relaxing and peaceful. I highly recommend taking your tablet and book and have a cup of coffee and soak up the atmosphere and enjoy tranquility.

The coffee here is actually really good. I got the vanilla latte and it was perfect in our unusual cold Texas weather. This place is surrounded by a bunch of other things in the Pearl area, so it’s hard to miss this. It was pretty packed with people/students working on their things.

Iced caramel latte with a pump of syrup. My only order when I go to coffee shops, regardless of season. Local coffee is now my favorite coffee shop in SA. I think their iced caramel latte is the best I’ve had so far. Atmosphere is chill, casual. Décor is perfect for taking photos.

Over the past few weeks I’ve found myself waking up on Saturday and making the drive over to The Pearl just to spend the day at Local Coffee. I’ve always been lucky enough to find a seat and get a good amount of work done on my laptop. The place can get crowded but the crowd is not distracting and is great for people watching. I’m usually prepared with my headphones but find myself satisfied with their playlist and don’t bother listening to my own music. I’ve tried just about everything on their menu and my favorite is the chai latte(and well, a brownie too). It has a comforting taste and the milky sweetness has the power to turn your daily time-out into a relaxing escape to a faraway place of indulgence. Baristas are all very nice, but all very busy too. The décor has a cool urban feel to it with exposed pipes and steals. It’s a place you wont get tired of!

I love me some coffee, and Local Coffee definitely brings it when it comes to flavor. I’ve been multiple times, and every time I leave with a pleasant caffeinated buzz. So why am I only giving Local 3 stars? Is it because I feel as though I’ve been too generous with my 4 and 5 star ratings lately, and I’m taking it out on poor LC? Or maybe it’s because every time I walk in, I feel as though I’m definitely not hipster enough to be walking in so brazenly. I like a simple cup of coffee that relies on the quality of coffee to carry the beverage. I appreciate LC for that. And 3 stars is still a good rating! It means A-OK! But I think the only reason I ever go to Local is because I’m in the Pearl area and I want a beverage. It’s always good, it never lets me down, but I’ve never gone out of my way to get there… and that there sums it all up.

Simple yet refined — the folks at Local Coffee know their stuff. Aside from the coffee being delicious(they seriously know how to brew a simple cup of joe), the baristas ensure that you will pick out a brew you like. You like floral notes? Hints of citrus? They’ll take their time to figure out what you should order without rushing you yet are efficient enough to keep the line moving. It’s so easy to grab a quality cup and go at Local Coffee — definitely worth being a regular here!

If you like pour over, try the La Claridad-Oaxaca Mexico($ 4). Takes about 5 to make and watching the process is part of the enjoyment. Free wifi for customers. Bar stools and chairs inside and outside. Outdoor patio is dog friendly — always a plus! They serve pastries from Bakery Lorraine across the way. Plenty of free parking for Pearl business customers.

My favorite coffee place in San Antonio. And I’m a Gold Card member at Starbucks. Pros: If you love strong, bold coffee — this is the place to be. Their coffee is delicious, and always the perfect temperature of hotness. Their coffee art is pretty cool too. Cons: Good luck finding a table, as there are many locals and Pearl residents who love to hang out here.

I am a huge fan of Local Coffee after just 2 visits. Although a little tight for room, the atmosphere of Local is very urban and has just the right amount of activity to keep you awake without being too crazy. The staff are incredibly efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable about all things Coffee&Tea. And the clientele is a wide mix: Yuppies, Families, Hipsters, Elderly, Students etc(Disclaimer: I’m sorry if any of those labels offend anyone). I also love that Local has huge windows that look out right onto the grassy square in Pearl. As for their coffee, it is wonderful! I ordered an Iced Latte both times I’ve been, and I also had the fortune of getting a sip of their iced tea. The Latte has quite a kick of caffeine in it, and it is rich and deep and all things one wants in a Latte. As for their iced tea, it has a different taste to it than what you expect out of iced tea. But you can tell it’s made from actual leaves and brewed, and personally, I really liked the taste(but my friend did not). On top of a great atmosphere, staff, and coffee, Local also has some really fast wi-fi; it is the dream spot.

Came here on a recent trip to San Antonio and was very impressed. I really liked the décor and the place had a very welcoming, laid back feel. There was a whole assortment of people in there from young to old, singles and families. There really is something to appeal to everyone. I highly enjoyed my dirty chai and was very impressed by their selection of baked goods. After finishing our drinks, my S.O. and I took a walk around the shopping center. Everything about this location is really nice!

One of the best Lattes I’ve ever had! Once again Unilocal led us to a 5 star worthy establishment. Local Coffee is located in a beautiful shopping center. We went while the farmer’s market was going on and there were several people walking around. Local Coffee has a very modern look with a wide open concept and high ceilings. The place had a line and I can understand why… The menu hangs over the counter where you order and it is very easy to read. The counter has a clear glass window that displays the selection of yummy pastries and the sidewalls showcase local coffee for sale. There’s bar stool chairs that surround the counter and sleek comfortable chairs to sit and enjoy your purchase. The huge windows provide an ample view of outside and the people. I ordered a vanilla latte(my usual) and it was strong but smooth at the same time. That’s a very difficult mix to achieve so I commend Local Coffee for being able to do that. I definitely will be back every time I visit San Antonio. Better yet, Local Coffee should open up shop in Houston.

There’s a guy here named Vincent and he is fantastic. He makes great suggestions and really knows his shit. I’d say he’s probably the nicest and most attentive person at this location. They have non dairy milks for all the vegan types who wanna have delicious lattes, and if you’ve got one of those friends who you’re iffy about because they don’t like coffee… There’s Mexican cokes for them. See ya around!

I do so want to rate this place high but I just can’t. The coffees, teas and pastries are all amazing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All of the ingredients that should add to to a 5 star review. However they have a very severe infestation of hipsters. Those who buy a tiny cup of coffee and sip on it for hours taking up all of chairs while they play on their electronic devices and eat the food they have brought in from home. I wish there was a local coffee with a drive through window so I could enjoy the delicious product without having to go inside. Maybe the next location will allow this. The chia is the best in town :-\

Specialty coffee in San Antonio has some catching up with a few burgeoning scenes in the great state of Texas but Local Coffee serves as a decent starting block for San Antonio and might be considered one of the best spots(in the meantime) for those who would consider themselves coffee connoisseurs. Setting up shop in historic Pearl Brewery(the entire complex has been repurposed for cultural events, shopping, culinary experiences, and soon to be trendy lodging with a hotel opening later this year), Local Coffee can be found directly across from Bakery Lorraine. Local sports a modern industrial interior design, exhibiting dark wood tones juxtaposed by cold industrial fixtures and treated concrete floors and eclectic mixture of café tables, chairs, and bar counter and stools. It really is a beautiful space and appears to be a popular destination, especially for laptop owners. They also happen to offer patrons free wifi. A multi-roaster coffee shop, Local offers its patrons a complete coffee experience featuring manual filter brewing(slow-pour) of guest roasters with the likes of Madcap(Grand Rapids, MI), Intelligentsia(Chicago, IL), Stumptown(Portland, OR), and Counter Culture(Durham, NC) just to name a few. Incorporated into its coffee program is Local’s very own Merit Roasting Co, primarily for spro. Pastries are sourced from their neighbors, Bakery Lorraine. One and One — Merit Conductor Espresso, Colombia/Brazil Blend($ 3.10): 3.5÷5 The fact that they knew about One and Ones gave me a positive initial impression. I then began chatting up the barista, asking specifics about their coffee program and their espresso. I’m guessing I might have intimidated her(or maybe my World Barista Championship t-shirt or GGET cap did) as she ended up chucking my friend’s espresso beverage. Whatever the case, my One and One was a little thin and hollow, slightly bitter exhibiting qualities of mild over extraction. Having tasted spro from Local, Brown, and even Bakery Lorraine, I might have to say that Local has a slight edge. If I ever find myself in San Antonio again, Local will more than likely be where I stop to get my coffee fix on. That is unless Kyle & Charles decide to expand into the San Antonio market…

Hands down the best connoisseur’s coffee bar in San Antonio, now with their own roast! Local is one of the best coffee shops I’ve been to in the US and is where baristas go to satisfy their craving for the real deal. This place has it all: * Madcat, Intelligentsia, and now their own Local SA microlot roast called Merit * All the supplies for your pour-over needs(Aeropress, Bonavita, Chemex, Clever, Hario, Kalita, etc.) * Iced coffee on tap(yes, ONTAP) * They actually make pour-overs with the Kalita Wave and other connoisseur’s brewing devices upon request * Cranking out shots on the Ferrari of espresso machines Service here is super friendly, seating a mix of indoor /outdoor with benches, tables and wraparound bar. There is only a single restroom, but was never an issue in my visits. Love the leather insulated tumblers and am addicted to their microlot. Their coffees are available for purchase both in store and online. An essential addition to the Pearl and a place I will seek out on my next visits to San Antonio!

I love a place that has a mean tea game. As many of us know, Local Coffee is great for coffee. They have some amazing flavors and drink options so there’s no point in arguing with that. They also have a great partnership with Bakery Lorraine and you can expect to receive some fresh yummy treats. The crew here does an amazing job keeping the line going and is always friendly with a smile. One of my favorite things about this place is how they have outlets to charge your electronics not only inside but outside as well! When the day is beautiful I’d much rather be sitting outside basking in the sun; however, when your phone or laptop is dying on you it limits you at times. If you don’t prefer to sit outside, no judgment over here, they have plenty of seating inside as well. It may be difficult at times to grab a table but there is also bar sitting throughout the coffee house as well. For those who love their wifi like me they have free wifi as long as you ask them for the password while checking out. I had their Plum Ginger Iced Tea and was in pure bliss. You could taste the unique flavors and nodes from the tea and I knew I had made the right decision. They don’t overdo it on the ice which is great since I hate my iced teas getting watery. Dilutes the flavors in my opinion. If I’m ever in the area craving an iced tea drink this will be my go-to place for sure.
