This is a great below-street-level bar near the Riverwalk. Friendly bartenders do an outstanding job with drinks.

Fantastic facility! First time there this past Friday for a PAX opening party & it was PACKED but amazing! Bar staff was cool, clientele were all chill & it was just a really neat spot. Got a chance to meet some in management & this place is the ideal Texas bar welcoming, rustic, and Tamales! … Pool too, there’s also pool. It was by far THE spot to be with the Houston Gaymers organizing their inaugural«Texas Gaymers meetup» & i’m glad the bar had the appropriate chops to accommodate; FANTASTICJOB to all!(Bar Staff and community Organizers)

We visited San Antonio in December 2015 and decided to explore the city by night! It was a Tuesday so we didn’t expect to find much of a scene. Luckily we chose On The Rocks Pub! The bartender(Kayla) made us feel right at home, chatting with us while making our drinks. Even if you only have an idea of what you want, she can whip something up that is delicious and strong! We got to play ping pong and pool as we listened to country music(when in Texas, right?!), and we really enjoyed the overall atmosphere of the place. Laid back, clean, and friendly. We highly recommend On The Rocks Pub! And we also highly recommend Kayla… not only is she a sweetheart, but she makes one hell of a drink!

Came here when we were in town for the Alamo Bowl. Awesome place. Good music. Easy location. Bartenders are friendly. Drinks are fairly priced. Only negative was I lost my kick ass umbrella that night. :(

Great chill place right off the riverwalk. If you’re looking for somewhere with cheap drinks, great service, and few/no tourists — this is your joint.

Love this place. Really great bartender who was very generous with his pouring. He made some really great drinks and even made some drinks up with the contents we wanted and they were great. I’d definitely recommend this place. It’s not the classiest of places but it’s great for stopping off and getting a cold one.

No cover is always a positive in my book. The bar is clean as well as the restrooms. Beer is cold but the service is spotty. Witnessed the entire staff doing shots, which is a bar 101 no-no. They didn’t seem interested in chatting up the patrons unless they needed something. Best bar on the street by far though.

Both bartenders that were working were super friendly and made some recommendations for places that served late night food since their kitchen wasn’t up and running yet. Also, they had plenty on tap, and both the pours and prices were very good. When I went to the restroom, I wasn’t sure if I was in a bar or a palace. I’d definitely return to both drink and use the restroom.

The sounds of awesome live 90s music pulled us in. Entering the bar is a little confusing(it’s downstairs!) the bartenders were meh but the atmosphere is fun. They have a large open space to watch the band as well as pool tables and shuffleboard(costs money!) off to the side. It was a fun way to start off the night.

The live music drew us in. Joe said we’re going in. Walked by on our way to Pat O’s and the live music hijacked us and the pool tables will keep us here a bit longer.

Downtown San Antonio needs more spots like this one for locals to watch NFL games. A bit of a dive bar on Sundays(most business is on Friday and Saturday nights), they have a solid beer selection, and great customer service. A great place to visit on Sundays if you want 5 tvs to watch NFL and dont want to pay river prices.

It is downstairs, don’t miss it. Reasonable prices. Great cocktails. Very chill atmosphere. Play pool or shuffleboard. Highlight — bartenders are very friendly and personable. Great job at making you feel like you belong. I was only in town for the night while I’m on my way to California, but now I’m trying to convince my wife we should settle in San Antonio instead.

This bar is awesome. We stop in every time we’re here and always have a great time. Last time there were torrential rains and tornado warnings but it’s cool because we’re in a basement, in an awesome bar and with friends. No worries! The place is nice with plenty of seating, pool tables, shuffle board, and the bathrooms are very clean(I’m a stickler about public restrooms).

I came here Saturday to watch the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight. They charged $ 30 to get in. I entered, paid the amount and got a wristband. It was 8pm by the time I arrived and I had thought they were going to start showing the fight but instead they were airing game 7 of the Spurs and Clippers. After the game was over, they finally turned the TVs on to the fight. There’s not many seating available at the bar and whatever seating that was available was already reserved. I didn’t buy a drink and didn’t feel like eating anything after leaving McDonald’s upstairs but they were serving buffalo wings that smelled good. I wasn’t sure if they were free though.

So this place, is outstanding. It’s so good, it’s already spot #2 on First Friday’s Pub Run! They are the only bar I know so far, that sells Third Shift(even WoB doesn’t have it last I went). They also had a lot of other good craft beers. As others have mentioned, the entire place is very spacious. They have three pool tables, a dance floor, a DJ(the night I went), a shuffle board table and their bathrooms were immaculate. They had TVs all over the place, and of course, had Spurs game on. They even were handing out beads for First Friday! Overall, I enjoyed it and so did my entire group.

How does a place call itself a «gastropub» and not serve food? Seems like a passable bar, but the whole reason I came was that it was listed as a five star«gastropub» And while«sports bar» certainly doesn’t HAVE to mean food is served, I can’t remember the last time I was in one that didn’t.
