Had the most amazing micheladas I have had in a while made by the male bartender with the Skelton face tonight! Asked me all the right questions; Spicy? Olives?

Meh. Go for the beer and try not to order anything mixed, as i do not think they hire trained bartenders, I ordered a Manhattan, which is not only one of the easiest drinks to make, it is a staple that any self respecting bartender should learned during puberty. After the waitress came back and asked if I wanted ice in it I knew there would be a problem. 10 minutes later some odd mix of alcohol, including what i think was grapefruit pulp laying at the bottom of the glass showed up. I gave it back and asked for a beer. The beer was fine.

Place is pretty chill/​low key. Nothing spectacular in my opinion. Relatively clean inside. Cool patio area outside for smokers, if you’re into that. Prices are pretty standard. Food is okay. There are billiards tables to play with friends. It’s not a bad townie spot if you just want to chill and grab a drink. Downside is, at least whenever I’ve been there, music is too loud… that’s about it.

Wont find a place like this in SA!

Anybody that doesn’t like this place, please stay away. This is an awesome place and Trish is a great bartender and beautiful person

Went here a few weeks ago and I had fun. Drinks were slow but it was a Saturday night so there is that. Nothing too impressive but more importantly nothing horrible either. I would go back.

Good strong drinks. Great specials and prices! The atmosphere is fun. Their food is actually pretty good too. Much better food than most bars.

I actually kinda like this place as a dive sports bar. Went by to play Golden Tee after work and the game was off. Pretty disappointing.

Came in to watch the Sunday afternoon games. Great drink specials and service. Crowd was a little subdued, but a great experience still. Will Be back again soon.

Decent hang out during the week but on the weekends it gets kinda weird. Not in a bad way just not my scene I guess. However the bar lost my boyfriends id when they took it for the tab.
Other than that I would return for a few drinks but not for a big party or anything.

I came to this establishment Friday, August 22, 2014, with a couple of buddies. I would agree with an earlier review on the so-​so atmosphere of the place. My friend had to change into a shirt from his tank and I had to turn my cap around. It’s a sports bar though? Either way, I enjoyed myself that night. The DJ was on point with the music, 90s old school booty music. One can never go wrong with that genre. The drinks were cheap and the shots were good. Even the patio was accommodating for smokers.
PS. It’s gay friendly. At least that night it was.

Decent bar. Good food, reasonable drink prices. If your coming here to watch a sporting event, you better be sitting at the bar. The TVs are all way too small to see from anywhere else.

Normally, this bar is definitely a decent place to get a drink. The atmosphere is fun, they run great drink specials, and there are tons of televisions to watch sports events.
My most recent experience here can only be described as completely lackluster. Myself and three others arrived to watch the playoff game between the Spurs and Mavs. The bar was definitely busy, as this is San Antonio, and we take our games seriously. You would think that the whole staff would be present for a large event such as this, however there were two bartenders, a cook, and a bar back working a very full crowd. It took entirely too long to get a drink, as bartenders were not only serving the patrons of the bar, but also waiting on tables as there were no cocktail waitresses working. I placed an order for fried mushrooms when I ordered my first beer and still hadn’t received them over 30 minutes later. We then decided to leave because the service was so slow. I closed my tab at the bar and let the bartender know to cancel my mushroom order, at which point I was told, «They’re making them, and they’ll be right out.» Nope, over 30 minutes is way too long. We paid our tab and left.
My advice is to choose to go there when the staff is prepared. This was not one of those times.

Okay, I love this place — but it’s my neighborhood hop. Y’know? The one you can hit when your oldest gets home at 11pm from his night job… just for a beer or two with the SO?
I love the inside. Hubbs prefers the outside. It’s loud when the DJ gets fired up.
I love the specials and the purple geckos. Hubbs takes whatever is cheap.
I love the full sized Jenga, but who doesn’t? (including the hubbs).
They also won several awards for Taste of San Antonio. YOU MUST GET THE BRISKET TACOS. OH EM GEE.
TIP: Did I mention the tacos? Go on Sunday to watch sports. I left my I.D. once and it looked nice and quiet and «Norm-​y» Also, don’t leave your I.D., they charge you to get it back.

Great place with an even greater staff. The bartenders are pretty awesome and know how to make a stiff drink. The food is pretty decent with a reasonable wait time. The location is very nice and I really liked that there was outside seating.

Unfortunately, 0 stars isn’t an option, or that would be my rating.
Had one of the worst bar experiences EVER at Shenanygans.
Went with a friend, one margarita was $ 6.50 and another mixed drink was $ 5. I understand the $ 5 for the mixed drink but the margarita was incredibly overpriced for an average-​sized drink.
In our early twenties, we seemed to be the youngest in the bar. The second we walked in, we were shot dirty looks not only from other customers, but also employees. We felt unwelcome and so uncomfortable that we left after one drink.
The only plus I can say about this bar is the one bartender we dealt with was pleasant.
Sorry we aren’t regulars Shenanygans. If you don’t want new customers we will take our money elsewhere.
I’m never returning.

Went on a Thursday around 10pm. My friend heard they had good specials. They did! $ 1.50 on a few beers so that was great. I was a bit confused by the place though here’s why:
it’s a sports bar so my guy friend showed up in shorts, flip flops, and baseball cap. I was in sandals. the bouncer asked him if he could turn his cap around because it was backwards when we walked in. dress code at a sports bar? ok.
we went inside and there were «reserved for bottle service» tables. again… ok.
we ordered a drink and when we asked him to have our beer «dressed» BOTH bartenders sort of rolled their eyes as if it was a faux-​pas. sorry but if you’re serving me please give me what I kindly asked you for without judging me.
The music got louder and I realized there was a DJ. alright, it’s almost 11 so I’ll take it. keep in mind customers were just sitting around having a beer with good conversation. (The place is filled with tables and booths) then it got louder in there because we now had what I thought was a band which turned into just the drummer playing along what the DJ was spinning. It’s a good way to get people in the partying mood. liked it.
then I went to the ladies room and there was an attendant. that’s sort of fancy for a sports bar filled with pool tables and advertising beer pong, I think.
Then I looked around and there was girls in dresses and pumps.
This is when I really got confused. We ended up leaving after one drink because the atmosphere was so-​so.
in the end: they need to clear up their identity. sports bar with a great patio, pool, and advertising beer pong: I’m there all summer! but I won’t be playing pool in my Little Black Dress and heels, sorry! This is going to drive customers away when they’re not clear on the identity and dress codes!

Every night is a different special. Thursday night is pint night with select $ 1.50 drafts and $ 3 Vegas bombs. We went on a Spurs game night, they were just adding extra TVs to the patio outside. There are several indoors for watching the game, but now there are 3 outside as well (and these are real high def TVs, NOT projector screens). It took about 20 minutes before the waitress noticed we were there, but she was fairly attentive once she took our first order. I wonder if the bar was running out of glasses at one point, though, since I went to go to the bathroom, and two half full glasses of water were cleared from the table when we returned. The food is bar food, the best things are fried and cheap. While the service wasn’t the greatest, the drinks are just SO cheap, I had to give it 4 stars. After a few drinks, you don’t even notice the service anyway.

My friend and I dropped by Shenanygans for a few drinks last night, we went early around 7:30pm and we had a great time. The bartender was extremely helpful, she came by our booth several times asking if we needed anything; she even suggested a drink we should try when we couldn’t think of one. It had a very friendly atmosphere, it was everything I would want from a neighborhood bar.
Around 8:00 when it started getting dark, a waiter came around to all the tables and placed lit candles on each one. There was a covered patio and pool tables. We didn’t go on the patio or play, but we plan to the next time we stop by! It was an overall great night, the bar had all different types of people, many went to just watch the game, but others like my friend and I just wanted a place to drink a few and relax.
I can’t say much for the DJ as we left before he started playing, but if you go early like we did it’s very relaxed and comfortable.
I can see myself going to Shenanygans many more times in the future!
