Sir Winston’s

This place is one of those been around a long time and only known by locals place. It’s nothing to write home about but they do have a decent selection of drinks at a decent price. Add in a few dart boards. Couple of pool tables and pop corn machine and you have a local dive. Don’t expect alot and you won’t be disappointed.

I have been coming in during the day. The daytime bartender is always nice to me. I always tip, I do not understand why the night time bartender had an attitude with me. I do tip her too even with the attitude. That still is customer service rather you want to be there are not. I do customer service for a living my self. I understand how it works. Nice you get tips bad no tips. I will be going somewhere else after I get off work.

Been going here for years off n on. My favorite local bar in San Antonio over the years. Nice staff, lots of games, great patrons, good selection of tv’s to view our San Antonio Spurs, and my occasionally shown Washington Redskins :). Smoking deck out back with clean restrooms too which is always a good thing. They have good drink specials too as well. I like to buy my beer here by the mini pit. and add the frozen bat to keep it nice n chilly!
Definitely worth popping in for a couple of drinks because of the great atmosphere, fun patrons, great drink prices, and awesome bartenders.

Chill laid back place. I feel the service could improve some. As an example I stood at the bar for about 4 minutes while the lone female bartender stood at the back of the bar on her cell phone either messaging or on facebook or who knows but I think servicing customers takes priority over personal cell use. Just my 2 cents. Anyway I like the music, the crowd etc. everything was pleasant and I’ll be back.

I don’t quite understand how this is a Sir Winston Churchill themed bar. They don’t have any British flags, British beers, snooker games, or cigars. The beer wasn’t even warm! It was ice cold. The bartender didn’t even find my Sir Winston quotes to be insightful, «I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.» –Sir Winston Churchill
It’s nice that they’ve got a full bar: beer, wine, liquor, jello shots.
Free popcorn is nice too– they pop it nightly, so it’s not sitting out for days. It’s a good bar food.
They have jello shots for $ 1 every. single. night. God Save the Queen!
The coolest thing about this bar? The darts machine. It’s straight from Japan, and has all kinds of musical tunes it plays, lights that glow like a Christmas tree, and weird games that you’ve never heard of before. Try the one where you have to take over Japan city by city. I felt more like General McArthur than Sir Winston.
The place was somewhat clean. The prices were fair. The music was beyond awful. It was Karoke Night, and some drunk girls just couldn’t hit those high notes in those Alanis Morisette songs.

Great little neighborhood bar! We were in town for a concert and found this place via Unilocal to hang out afterwards. Played pool (there are 2 tables) & shuffleboard (very fast table btw). Some of the karaōke was painful and some was great! Friendly & sweet bartender took care of us w/​yummy and HUGE Long Island Teas in the coolest mini pitcher shaped cups. Fun night!

As a regular… five (5) years +…disappointed that the new owner has never introduced herself or asked us about our opinion of the bar changes. The DJ for karaōke sucks on Friday… about himself… although cosmetic changes have occurred, it has taken away from our neighborhood bar feel. However, Yoli is the only reason we go there!!!

I’m not big on dive bars — but this place wasn’t bad! It’s located in a strip mall and looks kind of weird on the outside, but the inside was cozy! Cheap drinks, big jenga, shuffleboard, pool, karaōke (incredibly entertaining BTDUBS), and all around a good place to kick back. I went for a friend’s birthday and everyone had a great time. Definitely uncrowded, unpretentious and no cover– who doesn’t love that? Who knew this place even existed? Glad I went!

This bar is my cheers, everyone that goes knows everyone, and we have a great time, the men are all gentleman and the women ladies, no bums here, no brawls and everyone has each others back, we watch out for one another, drinks are well served and prices are reasonable, the owner is a Cubs fan and that’s a big bonus, soooo many t.v.s to watch games and the patio is warm in the winter and cool in the summer and very comfortable, George the owner goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and willing to do anything to make his regulars welcome, a better proprietor you will not find. Love, love, love this neighborhood bar.

It seems like bars and strip malls go together like hops and grains… at least here in San Antonio. One of my favorite strip bar is Sir Winston’s.
The drinks are stiff, free pouring is always a plus, and the regulars are friendly.
They have popcorn for munching and pizza for the really hungry or drunk patrons. A couple of strategically located tvs.
This is my go to place for nights that I want to start off at or I end up at.
Also, this is one place that doesn’t have a high turnover rate, as far as fellow drinkers. Oh and they now have karaōke on Tuesday night.

Great little watering hole with a big attitude! This place doesn’t look like much from the outside but has everything you love in a bar on the inside! Cheap drinks (they even have pabst on tap), shuffleboard, Internet jukebox, a nice lounge area with comfy couches, tons of tvs, friendly bar staff, multiple restrooms, homemade pizza, and even a public computer! Whether you’re just stopping in alone for a quick pint or meeting a large group of friends for shuffleboard championship sir winstons always greets you with open arms. Churchill would be proud.

I have to agree with the other reviewers – Sir Winston’s is pretty awesome. We had a great time hanging out in a bar where you can actually hear the conversation you’re having. We were at Sir Winston’s along with a handful of other patrons that were playing pool or just hanging out. From what I saw the pool and jukebox weren’t free, but the shuffleboard and darts are. Draft pints of DosXX are $ 3.00 – very nice.
Sir Winston’s downfall, like most San Antonio bars, is the indoor smoking. If only SA would pass a friggin smoking ban already. Until then, be sure to save some time before you go to sleep for a shower.

Oh man, I love this place! It’s usually pretty empty but even when it’s busy, it’s not overwhelmingly so. They have free shuffleboard, free popcorn and a pretty good jukebox. The pitchers are cheap and I can honestly say that I’ve never had a bad night there. The crowd is friendly and low-​key.

I love that the bartender is a cold bitch… she knows my drink and keeps it coming. The place is usually empty… so we get the run of the place. Prices are cheap and I love any place with fresh popcorn and shuffle board…

Oh… fond memories of seeing John Laroquette look-​alikes here!!! Pitchers are pretty darn inexpensive… good, laid back place to shoot the breeze with your buds. :-) I’d go back again… and yes, the former review is correct… there are quite a few places right in the area to close up that hunger you get after a night of putting the drinks away.

Sir Winston’s, just another place I used to visit, great place to have a beer and enjoy a game of pool, darts or curling. A bit smoky but overall it’s not that bad of place to come and have a few drinks. Bonus points are that it’s near places that are open late for that midnight snack.
