The aftertaste is like the chemical taste associated with McDonald’s. But this place has a flat coating for an aftertaste like you used McDonald’s toothpaste during a brief blackout and now you can’t get rid of of the regret. The aftertaste is worse than the calories. In general, this airport offers a host of the worst food in the world of airports. Don’t eat. Grab a bite from a nearby overflowing garbage can and save your money for a better airport.

Bottom Line: Ok fast food on Concourse A near Southwest Airlines’ gates. In search of a hot breakfast that would tie me over for five hours I found Steak N Shake across from Gate A8. I ordered two breakfast tacos and a Diet Coke(clearly the breakfast of champions). Service was friendly, my food came up quickly and it was easy to re-approach the counter for refills on my soda. The tacos themselves were fine but tasted much better with salsa. They were soft tacos and smaller than I started but kept me from gnawing on my leather purse during my flight to the East Coast. Overall, it was an A-Ok experience.

Did not feel my business was valued. Took forever to get my order. They forget they are at an airport

Horrible food. Ordered the breakfast tacos since they looked good on the picture menu. Served the eggs out of an ice cream scoop that tasted like mush.

I ate dinner here after discovering my flight was delayed an hour. I went to the counter, unsure what to order because I really didn’t want any fries. They don’t actually serve a hamburger by itself, so the cashier told me it was impossible to get a burger alone. So, I chose the first item that I saw, a giant hamburger and fries(of course I’m assuming the photo was zoomed in). I was then informed that this half or whatever size burger was very big and would be a five minute or so wait. Shocked, I told her I really wanted something smaller. In response, she said there was an off menu item for a hamburger and fries that was much smaller. I chose that one and discovered it was less then $ 5(did not include a drink). Because of her service, I give them one extra star. And, I was pretty hungry so the burger tasted pretty good. The fries are rather thin, but crispy. However, it left me with a bitter, salty after taste. Therefore, I give them a three since the service was awesome, but something was really strange about the taste of their fries. I definitely enjoy their food more than McD, the previous vendor of choice in that area.

Most disgusting food I have ever eaten. I’ve been to a Steak N Shake in Orlando and I enjoyed it, so I don’t know what’s wrong with this location. Burger was cold, stale and tasteless and was loaded with ketchup, and the fries tasted extremely salty.

You can get a halfway decent classic cheeseburger burger and fries inside the airport and not get totally impaled by gouge pricing! The steak burger takes ~10 minutes to cook, pretty disadvantageous since most of us are running to and from flights. The burger itself was nothing flattering, but the convenience of having this in the airport takes the cake. They serve breakfast items, but I’d err on the side of the burgers.

For airport good, this was actually quite good and not over priced. $ 7 for double specialty burger and fries. Burgers were piping hot, fries fresh, ingredients(guac, fried egg, etc) that we topped burger with were also good. Took a couple minutes but was because it was made fresh… I know, I was they’re watching it happen. Friendly cashiers and service.

This is probably the fastest Unilocal review I’ve ever left! I literally just came from Steak ‘n Shake after ordering a milkshake because my throat is on fire after losing my voice over 4th of July weekend. Angelica the cashier noticed and told me I needed water with lemon and honey to feel better. THENSHEMADEMETHATFORFREE. My milkshake has to wait, I have some healing to do and had to leave instant props for Angelica. What amazing customer service.

This was my first experience at a Steak N Shake, while waiting for a flight at the San Antonio airport. We had enough time to eat, but not enough time for a sit-down restaurant. A friend and I split the jalapeño crunch burger and the parmesean and herb fries. I was quite surprised by the price — under $ 8 for the burger and fries. I actually thought they forgot to ring up the fries when I saw the total, but fries are included with the burgers(with a very small upcharge for the seasoning). I don’t know what the price would be outside the airport, but I’m used to some ridiculous upcharges at airports, so I found $ 8 to be very reasonable for this meal. The burger was good. It wasn’t as spicy as I expected, and the burger patty is fairly small(compared to In N Out which is really the only fast food burger place I frequent). I love the skinny fries they serve — but the seasoning was barely noticable. We almost went back for a dessert — they advertised Oreo cookie ice cream sandwiches and Nutella milkshakes — but we decided against it. If you’re hanging around the San Antonio airport(Gate A I believe), this is a good option — quick, fairly priced, and tasty.

Steak N Shake should not not serve breakfast — here’s why: The burgers and fries are so much better than their breakfast food. It made my sausage, egg, and cheese pretty flavorless by comparison. However, service was good and the breakfast wasn’t half bad.

Was hungry at the airport because I hadn’t eaten all day. I usually get a slice of pizza at Famiglia if I want something quick, but decided to try something new. I ordered the original double cheeseburger with fries for $ 5.99. I unwrapped it. The bun at the bottom was sooooo soft because it was SOAKING in OIL! The oil was just dripping and soaking all over the place. I was hungry so I tried to eat what I could, but it was barely edible and I’m scared that I might regret it later. The patty is soaking in grease and the color of it is a bit strange. Fries were ok. Thin and crispy. I ate most of them. Overall, I don’t think I can go back. WARNINGWARNING: These burgers will probably give you a HEARTATTACK!

I ordered a hamburger and the patty must have been sitting under the lights for three or four hours it was like beef jerky. Be forewarned!

Service was slow. I wouldn’t chance it if you have a tight connection. The burger tasted a bit saltier than I’m used to. Fries were thin and hot like McDonald’s. I wish it had some sauce or a lil something something since it was a bit dry. I don’t think I need to eat another burger from this place ever again.

I really like their shakes and having a place in the airport is great as there usually aren’t that many good food options. Granted it’s fast food and I have to do a double workout to enjoy one shake but it’s worth it.

I’ll keep this one simple. People were nice. Service was quick. This is the beef capital of the US. It was my understanding the word beef had a significant meaning here. And, any restaurant with the word steak in it better mean it. Burger was below average! It didn’t have much flavor. Sadly my jalapeño burger was neither spicy nor beefy. Dare I say it? California burgers are better :-o

Service was fine + I got to have a chocolate banana milkshake before my flight. :) Definitely missed having steak ‘n shake since I moved away from the midwest, so this was a nice blast from the past. Not a healthy option, but great for a hangover cure.

I ordered the Royale burger and it was pretty good! It had a fried egg and bacon! I also upgraded my fries to seasoned fries and they were delish! I liked that they use shoestring fries! For an airport location they were pretty speedy.
