It was a 30 degree February evening in SA and we didn’t want to get out of the Hilton hotel and venture into untested bbq places that would just turn out to be frustrating. This is a $$ hotel coffee shop so we ordered 2 appetizers and one entrée for both of us to save and share. The calamari had thin crunchy rings but as with most restaurants, only came with a marinara dip. I would rate it as above average. The chips with shrimp ceviche weren’t as good only because it had a tex mex sauce as base so the«ceviche-ness» is quite lost. But the best order came with the tenderloin sliders with Parmesan fries. No need to season the meat which was cooked to perfection. An au jus dip enhanced the sandwich and while the fries were a little on the salty side, we still enjoyed the meal. On a warmer day and with the doors open to the view of the river, the ambiance and view of this place plus the sliders would be the better reasons reason why you should give this restaurant a try.

Was a great spot right off the river walk. This is my first time dining here and was completely amazed at the service and food! I’m very observant, and let me tell you, I could not find one flaw eating here. I came around lunch time with my family on a Monday and surprisingly it was not busy at all, matter of fact we were the only ones dining at one point. Our waitress was great, she knew every description of the menu, explained how some dishes were cooked, and even have suggestions on what we might like(she’s awesome!) Chips and salsa was good to start off with, and I ordered the rib eye with potatoes and veggies which is normally a dinner special but she made it just the rib eye portion for us that day! I was questioning on the coconut rice which I wanted to try but not get a huge portion and she made that right away for me in a small bowl. Once our food came out it was amazing! Everything was cooked perfectly. The rest of my family enjoyed their meals as much as I did. Definitely coming back, thumbs up to you guys!

I was a little hesitant coming here with all the mixed crazy reviews but after my experience I HAD to leave a review. Since it was happy hour(12−6pm) I got me a little house Margarita($ 4.50) which was yummy to my tummy. The prices are kinda up there for everything else but thats expected for a hotel restaurant(not to mention your right on the river walk/downtown) Julian, our waiter was super sweet! and checked up on my mother and I frequently. I had the Cesar salad and hot wings BOTHAWESOME… and was probably the top 3 Cesar salads I’ve ever had in my life. My mother had the ceviche which she said was delicious but prefers whole shrimps(they chop theirs up.) Overall, I recommend this place for a quick or light bite to eat. Appetizers are great.

Surprisingly good spot for a bite to eat on the Riverwalk. This restaurant is part of the Hilton Hotel, which gives it a primo spot along the river and within easy walking distance of the Arneson Theatre and one of the tour-boat locations. The wine list is simple but covers the basics, the appetizers my party had were competently done, and the service was fast and attentive. The view here is quite nice, so I recommend grabbing a table outside if the weather permits. Pro Tip: If you’re on a date, grab one of the tables for two about two rows back from the outer edge of the restaurant. You’ll still be able to see the river and people-watch(the tables here sit higher than the others) but it’s quieter and more intimate. This place gets a ‘4’ on the ‘CTJ Scale’, as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus’ Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn’t have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn’t have my penultimate supper here, either.

I came in on a weekday night after strolling along the riverwalk. I was pretty hungry and The River’s Edge stood out because it was empty(in hindsight I wish I caught this red flag) and so I figured my food would come out quick. I sat at the bar and ordered the quesadillas. They came out quick but they were the worst quesadillas I ever had. I was saddened that my favorite food had been so tainted and ruined. The flavor from the roasted red peppers was too strong and overpowered what people enjoy from quesadillas. The sundried tomato flour tortilla was also a cry for help. They are served with a side of something called«Spicy South Texas cream» and after trying it I was ready to leave. It was basically a quesadilla suffering from an identity crisis. The service was great but not my meal. You know that saying that goes«we only regret the changes we don’t take»? Well I don’t think it applies here. If you happen to take a chance on The River’s Edge Café, there is a good chance your stomach will regret it.

We were staying at the Hilton and simply wanted a drink and snack. We walked down to the bar and had great service. We ordered the deviled eggs, which were good. We saw the nachos and be warned they are a VERYLARGE portion. They looked amazing though. The second time we stopped in we had the pretzel loaf. Very good. Very tasty and hit the spot for a quick snack. The outside area sits nicely on the riverwalk and you can people watch without feeling over crowded.

Had breakfast buffet. The service was slow and the food was just ok. They had a good selection as would be expected for $ 21, but it was not extraordinary. They messed up our omelet twice and forgot a couple of our juices. It was busy, but not super busy. Only waited for a minute before was seated. If you have to eat breakfast buffet here you will be ok, but if I had a choice, I would choose a different place.

Stopped in for drinks on a stroll down the Riverwalk. Got a build your own margarita and it was very good. Go for the Tres Generaciones tequila which is very smooth on its own. Nice place to people watch and enjoy the river.

We didn’t eat here– the reviews deterred me plus there’s SO many other well rated places nearby! Also I’m not a big breakfast person. Talk to me about brunch, okay? The bar is what we came for. Then left shortly after. There were fruit flies everywhere. I don’t want to drink a thing from your bar if there’s a fruit fly issue. Since we stayed in the Hilton it would have been nice to have a lovely little bar to belly up to in the evenings. Sadly, no.

I drove all the way to the River Walk to see what it was all about, and stopped here for a late lunch. I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita that was«chunky». The strawberry was gelled up and made the drink unappetizing. Service was just okay– I say at the bar and the bartender didn’t interact a lot. It was slow– 3 guests at bar and one one-top bar table. Beautiful atmosphere. I ordered street tacos that were great.

I was walking along the riverwalk and saw a place which had tons of empty outdoor seating. I didn’t realize it was a Hilton room service. Ten minutes after being seated a waitress showed up. Ordered ice tea and sandwich and waited. After thirty minutes went inside and refilled my own drinks. Never saw the waitress. Food cam 55 minutes after I ordered. Greasy and bad. Not going back.

This restaurant was fantastic! My wife and I stumbled on this place. Great location with outside patio seating overlooking the Riverwalk(across from where you get on the barges). My wife & I had the Rotisserie Chicken(delish) and the sliders. Sliders were like eating steak on a roll(great quality). The potatoes, fries and vegetables were very flavorful. Also enjoyed the Mimosas($ 7/person).

Margaritas as big as your head! We stumbled into this spot when we couldn’t get a reservation at the Mexican place down the street. You can’t tell it’s a hotel restaurant until you see their left over cereal from the morning buffet. Staff did a great job making our fajitas, salad and pizza. The salad and flat-bread were on the smaller side, so if you’re feeling particularly hungry, you should get something else, or get two of something… or just save the calories for a second or third margarita.

Very nice view of the Riverwalk and nice furnishings. This restaurant is part of the Hilton. The breakfast bar is awesome with a wide variety of things on the hot bar. The staff is all very attentive. At night the bar is well staffed. They serve nice drinks. Ordered a hamburger to go back to the room. Very good burger and fries. The bar tender was nice and treated us well.

This is my third day eating lunch on the riverwalk at noon; every time the waitstaff seem to be surprised by the«lunch rush». We were seated and not greeted by a waiter yet 5 min later 3 four tops came in and were immediately taken care of. We moved to the empty bar in hopes of more efficient service and in route the manager must have noticed the annoyance on my face and acknowledged my concern with a mumbled«I’m sorry about that». I ordered the shrimp fajita salad and my coworker ordered the Tortilla soup and street tacos. When the soup came out, she cancelled the street tacos because it was an unexpected large bowl of soup. My salad took forever and was just okay. The shrimp were barely grilled. My coworker said the tortilla soup was delicious and finished off with the cheesecake that she said was even better. Overall, it’s just okay. The customer service needs improvement.

A friend recommended this. We ate off their special vegetarian menu. Ordered the Wellington and the Veggie Fajita. While both tasted great, and were well presented, we felt very unsatisfied because of the very small servings and my husband and I were tempted to go eat out again. The veggie fajita had no cheese or beans to fill us up and we were done with the Wellington in a few bites.

Great atmosphere! On this humid and hot day while strolling along the River Walk, it was so pleasant to sit at the shade of Rivers Edge Café! Server was friendly and attentive; and my drink came out as soon as I had ordered it! Not spectacular, yet the shrimp tacos I had for lunch was very tasty! Overall a good experience!

Location. Location. Location. Sure it matters. But that concept can only take you so far if you don’t have anything else to back it up. The River’s Edge didn’t get the memo apparently. Situated directly on the Riverwalk, this restaurant is a convenient dining option especially if you are staying at the Hilton Palacio Del Rio which is connected to it. That’s about all it has going for itself. Unlike most other hotels, breakfast is not complimentary for guests so be prepared to pay… a lot. And that wouldn’t be too big of an issue had the food, service or portions been decent. But for what you get, their prices are absurd especially when you take into account the ridiculous portion sizes and virtually no taste. Get this… $ 17 for an omelet. Yes, one little plain, sad omelet with no toast or potatoes, nada on the side. A coffee pot was put at our table before we even sat down(I did not order it) so I poured myself a cup, and we were charged nonetheless. And the service was… well… pretty nonexistent. Our waitress came a total of 3 times, the first to take our order, the second to set our plates down without uttering a word and the last time to give us our bill announcing the word«check», setting it down in front of us and walking away. Paying $ 50 for breakfast wasn’t even the craziest part, it was the fact we were still starving afterward. Save yourself the headache and money. Total disappointment.
