Sometimes Mexican markets have incredible deals, and Los Primos is no exception. I was already in the ‘hood getting my Grand Leader Market fix, and noticed Los Primos on the walk back to my car. The platanos(plantains) looked good, as did the sweet potatoes. There was a modest panaderia section with some Mexican cakes, cookies, and breads that I thought the guys at home might like, so I selected two slices of cake. When I paid for 3 plantains, 2 sweet potatoes, and 2 slices of cake, the total was about $ 2.50. I was shocked at how inexpensive my bill was. The cakes were a little dry and not as delicious as the larger Panaderia Y Mercado Hernandez I recently visited with my family, but my son was still really thrilled with his frosted vanilla cake with sprinkles. I know it’s listed on Unilocal as a meat market, but I wasn’t there for meat. You can find piñatas, produce, and all kinds of stuff crammed into a smallish store. The clerk was friendly and I’m a fan.

This is a Mexican grocery store, and it has a great selection of fresh fruits and veggies(including mangoes), Mexican sweets, general preserved foods(incl Abuelita hot chocolate) and meats. And everything is so cheap!!! I got 2 lbs of tomatoes at 99 cents a pound and Saborico(a delicious yogurt drink) for a total of $ 3. Definitely coming back!
