Was in here yesterday with my wife and grandkids. we looked around and liked what we saw. We should have made a purchase but alas…We where very impressed by the young man working there as he took the time to show my kids a few magic tricks, he was very nice and patient and we will be back to buy some MAGIC !

Cannot say enough good things about this place. The amount of time taken to show my son (high functioning autistic) how to perform a couple different tricks and how to properly use a deck of cards was really refreshing. Good people here. If you (or your children) are into magic, this is the place to go.

This little store is really small and hot inside. It has cool stuff. But some of the stuff has been sitting there for a while that the batteries on some of the items are dead or are gonna die out loll. The stuff is exspensive in here too

We just stopped to by to check the shop out and were welcomed by the lovely owners who shared tons of tricks (and even told us how a few worked). This is one of the coolest specialty shops we’ve been to and the customer service was beyond any we’ve received. Great people! Great store!

These folks are so nice to kids… giving lots of magic demos and sharing the love of the craft. We loaded up on a Whoopie Cushion and special balloons for making balloon animals.

I am a part-​time professional magician and Abney’s is my local magic shop. Great staff, well stocked, tons of REAL secrets (books, DVDs) and helpful encouragement. This is not a joke shop; this is where you go to get the supplies needed to learn magic and make miracles happen.

My boyfriend and I took our first trip to San Diego not too many days ago, and we were not allowed to come in. Why? I have no idea. It was confusing, not to mention disheartening. I have to be honest and say that this incident tainted our experience so I’m not sure that we’ll be returning to the area any time soon.

Never in my life have I had to deal with the absurdity that I had to deal at this place. My girlfriend and I took our first trip to San Diego and upon arriving we saw signs for a magic shop. We were both interested so we parked and approached to find one of the workers/​manager? standing out front. We said Hello and were answered by «we got a call from another business and you are not welcome here.» We were confused by this rude greeting and tried to explain that he was mistaken and that we had just arrived. The man told us that he would not explain why he wouldnt allow us into the store but that we were simply not welcome. So much for a warm welcome to San Diego. So if you like a business that profiles people and picks and chooses who their customers will be, by all means visit this hack magic shop. I am disgusted by this behavior and will never return to this place.

Cool little magic shop in Old Town across from Harney Sushi. We were here to get a kendama for my daughter, and they had a nice assortment of colors and styles. She opted for a jumbo bright pink one. Currently 10% off during Kendama. Rama!
They no longer have magic shows, but they do hold magic workshops for $ 30/​person; save $ 5/​person if you bring a friend. Just call in advance to schedule.

I have worked with the Abneys on a few occasions. Great people. Super fun.
They do magic shows, face painting, and now have the magic shop. The shop not only stocks magic items but all sorts of playing cards and face paints – the high quality stuff that we use professionally.

My 6 year old recently decided he wanted to be a magician. He loves this shop. We’ve been there twice and both time each of the clerk/​magician behind the counter were very nice. They showed my son a couple tricks and talked to him like he was a fellow magician. They had the pro items as well as simple kids that kids can do.
Was not able to see a show but definitely will try to catch one soon.

My 8 year old niece and I were in San Diego on vacation. She had an interest in magic so I promised her a trip to the magic shop. We were so lucky to find Abney’s Magic Shop! Pat and MaryJo were patient and helpful. Pat taught my niece two tricks and encouraged her to practice and come back with any questions. My niece would have gone back every day! We did go back once and MaryJo patiently helped her fine tune her act. We also found out they run a magic camp for kids. We will definitely be back next year if not one more time before we leave.
I use Unilocal a lot to find places but have never written a review before — the experience was so outstanding, though, I think anyone in the area or visiting the area needs to know!

Great family business, with extraordinary attention to their customers. Truly a family affair, as over the course of only two visits we have met the proprietors and their sons.
We expect to be regular customers and have already placed a custom order for rare cards.
Not sure if this is where to say so, but Brandon gets our vote for magician of the week.
