Amazing food… The best fish taco and pickled carrots I have had in San Diego, and I have lived in San Diego for 18 years

Must try the cochinita pibil burrito! I think it might be the most delicious burrito I’ve ever had! Their other food is very good too and the woman working there is always very friendly. They have a nice little patio that is dog friendly which is a nice bonus.

This place is the best in North and South Park — I can’t believe it’s so quiet in there most days. Blanca the owner is always super nice to everyone, and the tacos are some of the best I’ve had. Mole Poblano ftw! Also, the salad dressing must be magic — I don’t even like salad and I wanted to eat the whoooole thing. As much chips and salsa as you can eat, but you’ll want to save room for the actual food. Best surf and turf burrito I’ve ever had. The fish is fresh, the place is spotless, and it’s just a downright pleasant place to be. Love it!

We chose this place based on the reviews, and when we got there it was completely empty(7:30 on a Friday night). The food was mostly fine but not worth going back for. We’re not from the area but there has to be better Mexican places. The pollo burritos were not bad but the salsa bar everyone raves about consists of 3 non spicy salsas and store bought chips. In one word: Boring. Don’t understand the high ratings but maybe it’s just not our taste.

Our favorite Mexican place! Authentic and nice owner operated! They make a special quesadilla for our 3 year old. She loves it.

«Get the red snapper taco. Get it. Come on, get it. It’s the best. GETIT!» So I got it. Good? Yeah. The best? Nah. I’d say that it’s very average but you can’t really argue the price of the lunch plate. $ 7.00 will get you two tacos of your choice, some rice and beans and bottomless self-serve chips and salsa. I mixed it up a bit and didn’t fully commit to the snapper by adding one of the shrimp tacos to the mix. I’m glad that I did as I found myself enjoying this one much more than the fish. Don’t let the rice and beans go to waste and be sure to drizzle all of the flavorful juices that escape the tortilla with every bite on top. Dump in your leftover salsas and scoop it all up with a few chips at the end. Delicious!

Another good Mexican place in North Park. I got a cochinita pibil burrito which is a slow-cooked pork. The burrito was a good amount of food and the cochinita pibil was very juicy and flavorful. I would say that I wished that there were more going on in the burrito because I only really remember meat and beans in the burrito. The service was really friendly and I appreciated the complimentary chips and salsa! I would actually give this place 3.5 stars if I could.

Had a California Burrito breakthrough here— SEASONEDCURLYFRIES This is not a drill. They use seasoned curly fries in their California Burritos. Why doesn’t everyone do this? How did I not think of that before? Amazing!

My go-to Mexican spot as its walking distance from my house. Consistently friendly service and delicious food. My usuals are the Cochinita Pibil and the Chile Relleno tacos. Always get the lunch special if there midday as it comes with awesome rice and beans! Overall it’s legit.

Their Vegan selection was amazing, but I recently tried the tacos al pastor and i was very disappointed. The meat was dry and flavorless. If I do come back, I’ll stay away from their tacos al pastor and stick with the vegan options. Vegan tacos: 5 stars Tacos al Pastor: 1 star

I am not a fan of rice in my taco or lettuce in my burrito(or taco). I am a City Taco fanatic but I had heard great things about this place and well I have been wanting to check it out. So yes I cheated on City Taco(never again). First of all the staff are very nice. I came for a bean and cheese burrito which they do not have on the menu(sad face) so being taco tuesday I decided to try the corn fungus taco(Huitlacoche). They did have a 3 tacos for $ 5 taco tuesday deal but none of them were vegetarian, so that was not an option for me, and they don’t do substitutes on the deal. I did like the salsa bar. The green one was the spiciest despite being told the dark red one was. The chips were not that great I like the chips at Salsa Fiesta better. The spicy carrots were very good. My taco came out pretty quick. I took one bite of it and immediately got turned OFF there was rice filling it up. I tried to pick it out but it wasn’t working. When I asked about it they said it was Mexico City style? I said I am sorry I can’t eat rice(I found out is is a problem for me and makes me bloat up like a puffer fish). They were kind enough. to remake it for me which I truly appreciated. The guy at the counter said everywhere is tex mex in Sd and that’s it’s not authentic to Mexico city, and they are Mexico City style. He also said they also do not have burritos in Mexico City. I find that hard to believe. I have been to Mexico(not MC for a long time granted) and eaten burritos there. Also City Taco’s in certainly NOT tex mex it is Oaxacan and authentic, so I was a bit off put with the know it all behavior. Pretty sure Taco’s perla it authentic too. If that is authentic Mexico city style welp i don’t like it. This could have been avoided if their menu listed what comes on it. Anyway the new taco came out quick but it was SO bland I used 2 of the spiciest salsas to make it edible. The burritos and carne asada fries are like $ 10 that is pretty freaking outrageous, maybe it’s all organic? It didn’t say that anywhere so I am inclined to think it is not. My taco was $ 3.75 which seems fair enough if it were good.

I think this place is really 3.5 stars, but rounding it to a 4 due to the free tortilla chips and friendly staff. I ordered the adobada taco, carne asada taco, and the cochinita pibil taco — all the tacos were $ 3.50 each. I found both the adobada and carne asada tacos to be rather bland and lacking in flavorful. As for the cochinita pibil taco, it had good flavors that were well complemented by the pickled onions on top, but a touch too oily.

I love this place. It is exceptional Mexican. It is not a typical San Diego taco shop. I usually get the Chile verde taco. The chile verde is very good. This is a dish that can be hit and miss. This is definitely a hit. The salsa bar while small has very good quality. Just tried their rolled tacos. Very good. Clearly house made not frozen. You won’t be disappointed.

Before Amorcito, I must confess that I’ve never eaten a fish taco before. But, now that I’ve eaten several, both in San Diego and various other cities, I’d like to update my review. Again, it wasn’t that that I’d never seen them on a menu, it’s just they’ve never sounded appealing. Now, on to the review, err updated review. I still really like their location. It’s easy to find next to a few other eateries, coffee shops, and a bar. I was right that this place does get pretty busy later in the day as a result. We’ve since been back, and there is still ample outdoor and indoor seating. Plus, the customer service is still personable and refreshingly unpretentious. We always get our food quickly. Of course, this is still five stars. The menu has everything you could want on a taco or burrito, including vegetarian options and salads. We’ve had the grilled red snapper taco, salmon taco, shrimp taco, and the soyrizo taco. We also partook in the free chips and salsa bar. As for options and ease of selection, again, five stars. I realize that a salsa bar is not that unique, and in fact, it has become part of a few chain restaurants I’ve been to since originally eating at this restaurant. But, the salsa bar is on another level. The pickled onions, carrots, and jalapeños are a nice touch. I love pickled onions! While the corn tortillas were likely store bought and some of the potatoes were a little undercooked, all in all, all of the tacos were fantastic. I’d give the food a solid four to five stars, but overall this place gets five stars. For my first foray into fish tacos, this place didn’t disappoint. And, after now having many additional fish tacos, this place is still a solid 5 stars. If you’re in the area, check this place out.

Great food and friendly service. There’s not much more you need to say about this place. If you head in… Chile verde. Taco, plate, burrito… Doesn’t matter… Just get it. Oh, and the place is super clean… I’m not saying similar local places aren’t… But When I eat here I feel like it’s just squeaky clean, which is nice. They’ve got some poppy indie music on the radio, not too loud… It’s just a really nice, friendly space.

Not your typical taco shop! A coworker of mine asked if I had been and when I said no she suggested I go soon, and so I did today. My goodness, she suggested the veggie burritos but being as how I just love tacos(I’m mexican, it’s in my blood), i ordered tacos. I had a huitlacoche taco and a mole poblano taco; oh my yum! The huitlacoche taco is so «meaty» and flavorful, while the mole poblano taco is sweet and chocolatey and full of chicken and rice. I recommend both! If you’ve never had huitlacoche though, this is a good starter for sure!

This isn’t your regular run-of-the-mill taco shop, this place is a CRAFT burrito establishment. Yes folks, CRAFTBURRITOS… it’s a thing. Amorcito uses fresh ingredients in unique combinations to achieve the most delicious burrito experience. So far, I have tried the Chile Relleno and Shrimp burrito on multiple occasions. I’ve yet to venture into the other menu items, because I’m sorta in a relationship with the shrimp burrito. The sauce that they use inside the burrito is fantastic! You can dine in or carry-out and there’s only street parking, which can be a bit of a pain in this area… depending on when you go. It’s the best $ 9.00 you’ll ever spend. Do it.

Really good vegetarian menu. This place used to be a dive vegan place and the new owners have transformed it into a nice casual Mexican bistro. I am so glad that they included a vegan/vegetarian menu for those used to stopping by this location. I recommend the soyrizo and papas taco with guac., add some pickled onions and their salsa free. TIP: On Tuesdays they have a discounts on drinks, food, and special menu items available

After going by this place many times, I finally decided to stop in. The inside seating has about 6 tables, but there were no problems finding a spot. The mole poblano taco came on a double corn tortilla, with a nice portion of tender, shredded chicken smothered in mole sauce. The mole sauce was one of the better I’ve had. The chocolate flavor was there, but wasn’t overwhelming. The double taco was helpful from keeping the taco from falling apart. The scallop taco came on a single corn taco, with shredded cabbage, tomato, a drizzle of chipotle sauce, and an avocado. It was good, just not quite to the level of the mole taco. I also got a side of guacamole to go with the help yourself chips and salsa bar. It came out in a plastic container, but was fresh and creamy. It just needed a little spice. In an area with many Mexican food choices, it’s one of my favorites. I’ll be back to give some of their other menu options a try.

Really great little spot for that homemade, Ma n Pop touch authentic Mexican food. When you walk in you are greeted with a smile from the nice woman, who I believe is the owner. My carne asada burrito was very good, not greasy– just excellent. I also had a chile rellano taco. Really good as well. The corn tortillas seemed homemade. Just like the other reviews state: the warm free tortillas and salsa bar are a nice touch. Complete with hot carrots, jalapeños and freshly cut lime wedges. Lime on charred carne asada with cilantro and guac– yum. There was not one chunk of fat or gristle, just pure tender meat. I have to kind of rant positively about the beans here as well. The beans were simply excellent. They prepare a whole bean in a purée of bean base. This gives them texture and sort of a snap(not under cooked, at all). They come topped with white cheese. Usually beans have like 14 cups of salt and are overly opaque brimming with lard. Not their beans. They truly taste like grandma’s. Now, supposedly I am one hundred percent Sicilian(except for that approx 2% African in my DNA that every Sicilian has — that’s a fact… another story… but I swear I must have some Mexican in me. I love serranos and jalapeños, beer and top shelf tequila. I picked up the trumpet naturally at about 6 listening to Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. love me my got-to-have it ¡NOW¡ Mex food cravings. I even love being one on the manufacturing line when a close friend’s family is making hundreds of tamales. Enough said. Eat here and be happy!

So you’re telling me there’s curly fries in my California burrito with sour scream and guacamole standard? Holy moly. The portion of meat to fries is 80⁄20 so no whammies here! New favorite spot, thank you for opening!!!

Came back again for dinner this time: ordered the Surf N Turf burrito, cochinita pabil and salsa verde tacos. Service is decent, they are a friendly bunch! 1. Salsa verde comes with rice and sour cream: flavorful and pork was tender. 2 .Cochinita pabil taco: just as good as the plate itself, I didn’t want to splurge on calories so I decided to go with a smaller portion. 3. Surf n turf burrito: shrimp were grilled just right that has a crunch to it, steak was also well done. A really good deal for the price and flavors are decent. However, I still like Taco Stand’s version better. Definitely going to keep coming back!

This is a fairly new business, as I don’t remember it having been there very long. It’s next to Lefty’s Pizza. It’s an order-first-then-seat-yourself-then-they-bring-you-your-order place. Perhaps they don’t actually bring it to you when it’s busy, but you get a number for your order regardless. I got the Burrito Al Pastor. It was huge. It was delicious. The only downside(if you want to consider it a downside) is that it contained more beans than I would have wanted. But they make up for it by the other ingredients(meat, guacamole, cilantro, etc.). Prices are a tiny bit more than other places($ 8-$ 9 for a burrito), but considering the area and the quality, I think it’s worth it. And they have free chips and salsa, and there’s a self-serve water station. They also have a variety of beverages available, including soda/pop/soft drinks, horchata, jamaica, or bottled beer. Staff is nice and courteous. They use an iPad for transactions, which leads me to believe that they absolutely accommodate for credit cards. However, since it’s a small non-chain business, paying in cash will absolutely do them a favor. Parking: Any street parking in the area. Other tidbits: The pub tables have hooks on the sides for purses and other light hang-able belongings. I was fortunate enough to come here on a slow Sunday night. I’d like to see how this place is on a prime-time night.

The hubby and I took my mom there for a quick Mexican dinner. Amorcito is a casual eatery with counter service. Plenty of indoor seating and a couple of tables outside on their patio. The hubby got the cochinita pibil plate. The cochinita pibil was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the marinated red onion wasn’t too vinegary. The hubby thought thought there was a little too much sour orange flavor, but I thought it was just right. My mom and I got a couple of tacos – carne asada, al pastor, chile verde, and huitlacoche. The carne asada was definitely my least favorite out of all of them – chewy and not a whole lot of flavor. The al pastor was fine, but the chile verde and huitlacoche stood out. The chile verde had nice chunks of tender pork, and the green sauce had a great kick to it. The huitlacoche(corn fungus, if you don’t know) was good choice with the fresh addition of sweet corn kernels. At $ 3.50 each, the tacos are huge and very filling! There’s also small salsa bar with self-serve, unlimited tortilla chips. Can’t complain about that(but the salsa bar can’t compete with Mama Testa’s salsa bar though). They’ve got plenty of drink options – a few agua frescas, sodas, beer and wine. I love that it’s a true mom and pop business. The son was running the register, and the mom was in and out of the kitchen. The food is homey and made from the heart(aw, shucks). They have a lot of choices for burritos, tacos and platillos from meat to seafood. And plenty of options for vegetarians, too, like nopales and flor de calabaza(squash blossoms). There’s increasingly more taco competition in North Park(Tacos Perla, City Tacos), and the location seems to have a high turnover. So, I hope they do well enough to stick around for a while. The food is quite good, and hopefully the crowd will follow!

I came here with a friend for lunch after playing frisbee golf and was very excited because my buddy was telling me how amazing it was. I got the carnitas burrito and probably made a bad decision. I didn’t know it was going to be wet on the inside and it ended up being dripping wet and really wasn’t what i was expecting. The burrito also only had the meat inside the burrito. No cheese, lettuce or anything else unfortunately and the wet meat made the tortilla fall apart. I’m sure this place is actually very good but I need to try something else next Time.

Decent tacos– tried the lengua and the mole. The portions were large(two tacos are filling, as opposed to my regular three for a meal) and the toppings complimented the flavors. Nothing we tried was very spicy, so be sure to get some extra hot sauce if you miss that kick. As for the tacos, the lengua was just alright. I usually appreciate lengua for the texture and flavor, but theirs was pretty tough and not so flavorful– really needing the toppings it came with. The mole taco was pretty awesome– but I’m a huge sucker for mole so it’s hard to go wrong there, at least in my book. Also ordered a couple sangrias to wash down the tacos. The sangrias are pretty simple– heavy on the red wine with a few of those sweet canned mandarin slices on the top. Overall nice little addition to the 30th/Upas zag in North Park, but probably won’t make it back here too soon.

I have eaten here 10 times, I have munched out of control their chips and salsa. It’s slightly pricey but I am okay with this because their house made chips and salsa bar is spectacular and they do not care how much you eat. I fantasize about bringing Anthony Bourdain to San Diego. I would bring him to this shop. Everything is so fresh, their shrimp tacos are to die for, beautifully prepared with white sauce, succulent shrimp and I use their house made GREEN sauce bishes because green sauce tastes great with seafood. The people behind the counter are so nice, they are mi corazon !!!

Thank God for this place. This counter balances the pile of tacky garbage that infiltrated NP across the street. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is, there’s no beer. Beer is essential for eating tacos and when they get their beer license, I’ll bump it up. Love it’s walking distance and they serve incredible food. Nice open place that’s brand new and clean. The menu is AWESOME. Everything they had on the menu I wanted. Went with the lengua, mole and snapper tacos. THESETACOSAREHUGE! At least the meat ones are. They do put rice and beans in at the bottom of their tacos and they’re great. Each taco was dead on delicious. Salsa bar and help yourself nachos are an extra bonus. Smart patio too. So much better than the vegetarian hippie place before it. Remington + Amocito + Lefty’s = a serious building of heavy hitters. Eat a taco, go next door for a beer and a slice then go get tattooed.
