Unfortunately The Counter and Bankers Hill are still under construction! This place offers costly drinks and you can not enjoy any food that isn’t purchased from them! Tiny place. With bad service. Avoid if possible.

Avoid until the construction is done and this place has an actual location — unless you’re delayed and can’t deal without a drink, like me. Currently there’s no running water and not enough seats for the bars or tables. Prices were better than most airport bars though — two Jamesons for $ 14, and I’ve paid that much for one at various places around the country.

This tiny bar was right outside of the gate as I deboarded my Southwest flight. I caught a glimpse of the taps and saw some good names —Alesmith X, Arrogant Bastard, and Stone IPA — and tried to make my way to put an order in. Only problem is it’s a tiny space and the bar was packed and it just so happened to coincide with the pursuit of the Boston bombing suspect so it took a while to get a beer. Once I did, I had to pay $ 8 – 9, which was pretty much typical for an airport, but the Alesmith X was truly a brew. Quite good. The three stars are really for the three good taps and nothing else, so perhaps I’m being generous.

A few beers on tap, plenty of hard liquor, and a few wines. Beer comes in two sizes; 20 oz costs $ 10. After they remodeled, they no longer have the captain’s special(beer + shot combo). They have a few TVs to keep you entertained until your flight. It’s an airport bar. Get a drink if you’re here early. Otherwise, get one on the plane… it’s only $ 5 for a 12oz on southwest. Might not be a craft beer, but sure does beat $ 10.

This is the only place to get an adult beverage in the post-security area of Gates 5 — 10, so I guess it will have to do. They sell sandwiches, but mostly just beer and wine. The wine selection is modest, 3 reds and 3 whites. I tried the Chianti, which was drinkable, and my companion had a white wine that tasted like the Concord grapes that I used to eat unripe off the vine next to the garage as a kid. Not much more to say about this place. It’s an airport bar, you know?
