I was here last week and I don’t really miss this place that much, but I really LOVE their WINgS! So far I think this place have the best wings compare to many other places that are known for their wings. We ordered the Garlic Wings which is always a must, and the 911 wings, and of course the Hell Bells wings. After the Hell Bells were downing drinks after that. If u ever want a spicy challenge with some heat then the Hell Bells will call u out. I give them a 3.5 stars for the place itself, but a 5 stars for their awesome wings. Until next time…

Dad just moved to San Diego and the Australian is walking distance from his house so we of course had to scope it out. Rumor has it this place had closed down but is now re-opened for business. I personally think, they are NOT going to make it too long. Here is my list of criticisms: 1. They have a nice little patio area but you cannot have drink out there. Now how does that make sense? It’s San Diego, you want me to abandon the gorgeous weather and sit inside? NOOOOWAY! 2. The bar table /service area is huge but they only use about ¼ of the space. Come on guys, if the bar area is huge why don’t you take advantage of it. Put some bar stools up there and stop wasting the space. 3. Speaking of wasted space, there is a whole other side of the bar that looks like it has not been updated since the 1930s… so sad. 4. The TV’s are HORRIBLE. The one is was sitting in front of kept glitching and turning off an on. The list goes on and on here but you get the point. The space is not utilized well at all. I spent the time I was there talking with my Dad about all the ways we could update that space and make it rockin’. Put this place on BARRESCUE!!!

food was good but they only have very fattening greasy options. Very much a bar joint not fancy resturante. But it was fun to play pool after dinner

Food is terrible although the Staff is friendly. Wasted $ 10 on the worst Shepherds pie ever, it seriously tasted like a can of dog food with cheese and mashed potatoes on top. Buffalo«Chicken» basket was 95% breading and no chicken. Please revamp your food quality. This«restaurant» bar needs to be totally redone. The cooks need to be retrained and the ingredients changed. Please use quality meat or stop serving food.

Do you like dive bars? Do you like wings? Then this is the place for you. Some quick background… 2 – 3 years ago is was originally called The Australian Pub, it was then sold switched owners and names to the Black Pearl, and now the new owner has a connection with the original owner, and has renamed it The Australian Pub(aka Aussie Pub). The new owners are rocking it! The wings are half off on Wednesdays, and are EASILY the best in PB. I’ve eaten at Bub’s and Dirty Birds plenty of times to compare. First off, Bub’s aren’t even fried or crunchy… lame. Dirty Birds has a lot of flavors, but nothing with quite the mix of hotness/spice and flavor that Aussie Pub has. Also, Aussie Pub makes them fresh and are definitely bigger wings than the other two places. The new owners are making some improvements in terms of minor renovations on the inside, which is the only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars. The bathrooms need a little bit of upkeep and there are some touch-ups that need to happen around the place. But hey, it’s a dive, right?

The Aussie Pub is back! This is the last-stop-of-the-night kind of place in PB, where I am not in the mood to eat but am just looking to keep my buzz going. With that said, you can see why the place reeking of beer doesn’t bother me much. They also had the game Connect Four in one of their booths… Unexpected but kind of awesome. Why didn’t they think of adding any Australian beers this time around? Or maybe clean up the restrooms? :-(

I used to go there every week. Not planning any trips back soon. The food used to be soooo good — in 2008⁄2009 — awesome wing Wednesdays. Now the wings are small and over cooked(sauces are still great). Beer is over priced for a hole in the wall. Also, what is with going from The Australian Pub, to The Pub, to The Black Pearl, and now back to Australian Pub? Who owns this place and do they have anything to say about that? If you guys finish your upgrades — and not half-assed like they currently look, have some decent beer prices and have more staff on hand(trained please), this place could be packed once again. Packers fans could go also — I am a Bears fan :)

This place sucks on all levels but one. All beers $ 3 and more without any better specials throughout the week. Although there is a decent selection, i’ve seen better and they didn’t have the advertised Smithwicks or Red Trolley. Wings absolutely sucked on Wednesday night. They have ½ off wings on Wednesday’s but it must be the batch they made last Thursday. They had a hint of dirty dishwater, toilet water, and a splash of fish oil. The waitresses were attractive but the bar was full of wierd guys and old ladies. There are too many great places in PB to ever go here again.

The Black Pearl is the spot to watch Packer games! If you’re from Wisconsin or happen to be a Packer fan, this is a great place to catch a game. Only down side is that they don’t staff the bar very well. They need more bartenders! The ones that were worker seemed to be doing the best they could, but you’d likely be standing by the bar 5 – 10 minutes before they took your drink order. They don’t have any servers walking around, which makes everyone have to go up to the bar to order. On the plus side, though, wings are good and they have over a dozen beers on tap.

NOWCALLEDTHEBLACKPEARL Are you looking for a local pub/dive and live near PB. Then I just might have the place for you. Live music, plenty of tvs, a pool table, dart board, friendly bartenders and wait staff. But, I got to warn you. You better have some time to kill on wing nights and meatloaf slider nights… it can take a while for your order to come out, but when it does, you will know they put some love in preparing your food. Enjoy. Oh, try the Aussi Burger.

I live in North Park, I work in El Cajon, yet I’ll make the trip out to Aussie Pub for a multitude of reasons. 1) The bartenders there are awesome. Sara and Tory will treat you right! 2) Wednesday is ½ off Wings(Spicy Cajun and Teriyaki are to die for.) 3) Wonderful beer selection(They have tall can PBRs!) 4) Good crowd of people and TVs to watch the game. Not only that but the«Build your own Burger» is awesome, you can hang out in the outdoor patio(when it’s not 20 below outside) and they have a couple of pool tables. Trust me just go there and try it out.

This place is supposed to be a bar and restaurant. They’ve failed with both. First of all, when you walk in the door you’ll notice a very unique smell. It’s a cross between stale beer and mold. If you go to there expecting an Australian beer, FORGETIT. Why would an Australian pub not have Australian beer??? Drinks are cheap but don’t expect to get exactly what you want. The bartenders make drinks the way they want not the way YOU want. All the bartenders are really douchey. The used to have really good wings — now they suck! This place(seriously)has the tiniest wings I have ever seen. The last time I was there I got a round of drinks and some wings. After about 20 minutes passed I went back up to the bartender and asked about my wings. I was starving! She laughed and said she forgot to put the order in. Seriously??? Ok, so they put a «rush order» in for me. I got a little plate with 12 little miniature wings on it. LAME. I’ve spoken with quite a few people who have gotten food poisoning from Aussie Pub. I only ate 2 of the wings because they were gross and cold! I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and it was absolutely disgusting. I’m not going into detail about the bathroom but I immediately left without washing my hands. I let the bartender know the toilet had overflown in the men’s room. His reply«What do you want me to do about it?» This little dude is a complete tool. Needless to say, I’ll never go back.

I love Australia, and I love their beer, but if you don’t have any Australian beer, then its just a pub. I mean, yah, this place is cool and all, lots of beer on tap and bottles but it’s a moot point coming here and not having at least 1 Australian brew. But they have happy hour specials; $ 2 tacos, $ 2.50 bud and bud lite, or $ 9 pitchers, $ 3.75 tall Bacardi or Beam, and free pool and jukebox. Yah, so was slightly disappointed when the only Australian beer that they usually serve, Coopers, is out. I mean, it’s not that hard to find Coopers. Just get it at Bevmo. But still, what’s the point if you don’t have any Australian brew. So this place just becomes a normal sports bar. Couple of tv’s, couple of pool tables, ATM, a dartboard. Plenty of vodka on hand. Their bathrooms are semi-dirty and it smells. Outdoor/patio seating is available too.

*Sad Panda* I went in here today to see when the next Packer game was going to be on… while they are trying desperately to improve it which I appreciate very much; I am destroyed. ALLPACKER memorabilia is gone… gone are the photogs from Packer’s days of glory past… Looks like the owner hired her 12 year brother to do the interior and that he just discovered some kind of saw. I like the wall paint and the righteous amounts of beer but alas… This the ghost of a Packer Bar from the past. I remember four years ago when this place was standing room only on any given Sunday. I remember standing for four hours watching a game and commiserating with Packer Fans who drove down from Temecula area to watch the game with fellow worshipers… No more. Looks like someone in South Park or Downtown needs to claim the title, this places run is done. I liked my bartender, she was cool and sweet. She also told me that all the Packer’s memorabilia was«tossed out»… Some where near Lambeaux Field Vince Lombardi’s corpse shite itself upon hearing that news.

Honestly, I find myself at this place more often than I’m proud of simply because it’s the only place around that’s dedicated to the Green Bay Packers, so if I want to surround myself with fellow cheeseheads on game day, I don’t really have any other options. I’ve enjoyed some good Packer games here and had some good times here with friends, but I can’t really recommend the place on its own accord. It’s your standard dive PB dive bar(dirty bathrooms, cheap laminate floor, pool tables awkwardly placed, etc. etc.), except with way worse service. I’ve spent a ton of time waiting at the bar for a drink or waiting at a table for food. It’s always the same, unless the place is totally dead, because as far as I can tell, whether there’s 10 or 200 people in the joint, there’s the same number of people working. Don’t managers exist to figure this shit out? Last night was pretty much the last straw and I decided I needed to make a review to warn others: I came here on account of «Wing Wednesday», where wings are half-priced, and was absolutely appalled by the low quality of the wings. They were some of the worst wings I’ve ever had in my life. Consider yourself warned. Unfortunately, as a die-hard Green Bay fan, I’ll probably be coming back here. Pros: — it’s a Green Bay Packers bar Cons: — service is extremely slow, both at the tables and at the bar — wings are awful

Wings wings wings… yum yum yum. Beer beer beer… glug glug glug. Total for 72 wings and 4 pitches of Michelob Ultra… cheap. Too bad they’re closing down. I’m not sure I can eat enough and drink enough to keep them in business but I’ll try.

This place lets you have dogs on the patio, so that’s nice. It’s in a strip mall, which I find weird. And honestly, it’s not that clean. Some of the patrons are pretty offensive looking and/or acting. I had a grilled cheese with avocado which was really good, and the huge cajun fries are soooooooo good. The service was good, and I don’t mind the occasional dive bar, but … I think this was not my favorite. Parking is tough because the lot is small.

A few friends and I ended up here accidentally the other night. I think we were in search for some Irish bar, but we found this place and decided to set up camp. Drinks are STRONG. One sip of a cranberry vodka and I was done. But, fortunately, they’re cheap so that makes it the perfect place to get sloshed on a budget. Also, they serve beer at the coldest temperature I’ve ever had and it was wonderful. There are plenty of games, including darts and a pool table. TV’s are definitely not in short supply either, and we watched the New Zealand rugby game while sipping whatever was on tap.

Cheese heads unite! For an Aussie pub, these folks sure do love Wisconcin. Packer fans pack this bar to the gills when Green Bay is playing and it’s crowded on the weekends as well. In terms of the layout of the bar, it is a bit awkward for playing pool. The pool tables are situated in between the booth seating and the main bar, so the foot traffic really gets in the way of games. It’s incredible what drunken antics our hero has had here without being kicked out. Antics including trying to bring a golf club into the bar, repeatedly slamming his glass so hard on the table the customers two tables down were complaining, and getting so sloshed that he started drinking from the ketchup bottles on the tables. Yes, it gets a bit crazy at the Aussie pub at times. Many thanks go to the staff of the bar who have not thrown our hero out even when he pretty much passed out on a table here. Actually, they would probably do the other customers of the bar a service by throwing that d-bag out… PROS: — Good beer selection. — The PB home to all Packers fans. CONS: — The washrooms are horrible, even for a dive. — The staff aren’t exactly the friendliest, but they get the job done. — For an Australian pub, there aren’t actually many Aussies here. I can’t think of a single time when I’ve met a random Australian here.

I’m not a big fan of PB, but I will go out of my way to make it down here to this Aussie pub… Why because I can buy two drinks for the price of one drink you get downtown in/around the gaslamp area. Hello I am one of the millions of people who got laid off so I need to be on a drinking budget with stiff drinks. So there! I saw their daily specials $ 3 captain drinks? What what… half off wings on Wednesday, never tried if I did I will probably be on a mission to find someone who’d make out with me with chicken breath =)
