Loved their breakfast burrito for 5 bucks! See coming back here often before I head out to work in the morning. I did came here before to grab lunch & dinner. I loved their carne asada burrito and California burrito. I love how they cook it how I want it.

This place has some of the most colorful reviews on Unilocal for a taco shop so I had to try it for my self — and I was supremely surprised! We had the carnitas burrito and the chili verde burrito and both were awesome, packed with delicious marinated carnitas, tangy guac, and wrapped in a buttery homemade tortilla. On top of that the staff was super friendly. We’re definitely going back to try other items on the menu.

I gotta tell you this place is GOOD. No fancy décor, but friendly staff and excellent Mexican food. Generous portions at reasonable prices. And look at the way the food looks on the plate when you get it. It’s artistically arranged! You need to check this unpretentious but excellent Mexican taco shop.

Food Poisoning!!! My boyfriend and I ordered two separate meals and a day later are still regretting our decision to try this place. He got the fish tacos and a carne asada burrito, I got the breakfast burrito. BOOM cramps immediately followed by the other«lovely» side affects. The fact both of us are ill shows it’s not just one bad food, it’s poor preparation all over. And after reading other reviews, apparently this is not a random occurrence. STAYAWAY!

i come here all the time for the bacon breakfast burrito. it’s easily the best buy in the area for 5 bucks even(i add guacamole which brings it to $ 5.80 as of today) being a san diego native, i am no stranger to a good breakfast burrito. while this isn’t the best in san diego(i give that nod to three amigos in el cajon) the price and location downtown right next to my place is the best. also, there really isn’t much in the way of nearby competition, as the homeless element prevents a lot of food service from opening up past the trolley tracks. the reason i’m here today is to bitch and moan about said breakfast burrito. they have replaced the big chunks of potato(easily my favorite part of this burrito) with cheap french fries. and the burrito is absolutely stuffed with them. they taste unsalted, undercooked and really the cheapness of the taste overpowers all the other elements of the burrito — cheese eggs and big chunks of bacon(another big plus for this burrito). if i hadn’t added guacamole(also delicious here) to this thing it would be getting fed to the dog my roommate is watching. it’s really bad. please bring back the potatoes. please. 4 stars for the countless good breakfast burritos i’ve had from this place. this burrito gets 2. these fries taste like they sat in the sun in someones car. no bueno.

Excellent customer service! The guy at the counter– the owner– is a very special guy, his name is Jose, he treats the customer as if they were a guest in his home. His customer service is one of the reasons we keep coming back here. The food is outstanding as well. This morning we had potato’s, beans. Eggs. Toast, all very yummy. Thanks Jose!!!

Decided to check this little Mexican joint out and wasn’t let down. Great spot for carne asada fries and a nice cold horchata. This friendly neighborhood taco shop definitely delivered good food at a good price. The lady at the front was nice and hospitable as well. The neighborhood is more towards the outskirts of downtown so the clientele aren’t always your white collar types and the area can be home to some interesting characters to say the least, but it’s nice humble place to grab a bite and I’ll definitely be back.

The place is not particularly nice and the food is average. However prices are good and the menu is vast. Personally I would rather go to Lolita’s that is not too far from here, it is more expensive but food is better, portions are bigger and the spot is definitely cleaner and more comfortable. By the way the Azteca Burrito is good(and veggie friendly).

I would give zero stars if I could! Be warned, the prices on the menu are lower than what they charge you! This owner takes advantage of homeless and te disabled you come here. I have tried to give this place a few chances and the owner refuses to change the prices on the menu to reflect what he really charges. I watched him be so disrespectful to a few gay and transgender people in there ordering. He called a trans guy a she and ma’am multiple times.

Drunkly stumbling out of the Quartyard when I found this place. Ever since I moved to San Diego, all I crave is a California Burrito and they had it. Maybe it was the beer on my taste buds that held on to the flavor and fell in love. The tortilla had alittle crunch to it. The stips of meat were huge and nicely seasoned. The thing was stuffed with french fries and the guac was overflowing. Thinking about it is making me drool. Or I’m just an animal. Maybe I’m actually just craving another beer and I automatically put beer and burritos together now since that’s usually how it goes anyways. Either way, Azteca Taco Shop is on the mind. Location is a little sketch tho. Had a gentleman make me feel really uncomfortable but that’s not the restaurants fault. Just the location. I’ll still come back, with friends. And security. Or i’ll send someone. :)

Great enchiladas here! I’ve tried them at other taco shops and have been disappointed, but love them here. Small friendly place with quick service, right at the trolley stop.

This place has become my go-to local Mexican take out spot. Fast, friendly, and most importantly: tasty! The food is always consistently delicious, and the hot sauce is flavorful. The staff here is awesome. I’ve only been here for a short time, but the guy behind remembers me every time I visit, and knows my hot sauce preference. They are always friendly, and the food comes out quickly. If you’re in the East Village, stop by if you need a quick bite. You won’t be disappointed. You’ll be putting it in your mental bank of fast food go-to places.

Love this place! I recommend the fish burrito or Aztecs burrito. The people who work here are the best — friendly and hard working. They accidentally gave me the wrong order one time, next time I came in weeks later and said nothing, but they remembered and insisted my order was free. I call that«Class».

Azteca is super close to my work so I can run over, get my food, eat it and still have time to relax. I order the California burrito almost every time and it’s always delicious! Everyone here is so friendly. I absolutely love this place!

Ate here earlier today. I was impressed with the quality and taste of the food. Prices were comparable to other Mexican Eaterys in the area. The Lady that took our order was very professional and customer service oriented. Our order was ready in a satisfactory time. Was clean and well maintained considering the area it’s in. Definitely worth another visit sometime soon.

Small place but great tacos! I had the shrimp tacos and being from Texas have not been able to find a place with the kind of tacos I’m used to. The tacos included grilled onions, peppers, rice, & crema.

This place is amazing. I’m seeing a lot of negative reviews but okay, I am really picky about taco shops. REALLY picky. Nothing like a Chicana being picky about taco shops. Their carne asada fries are amazing. The guacamole is amazing. The salsa is amazing. And they have bottled coke hecho en Mexico. Give it a try. It’s better than Lolita’s at the park tbh.

This place has the best California burritos in San Diego! The fries are crispy and the ingredients are fresh. You essentially get unlimited salsa if you ask the cashier at the front. Although this place is not the cleanest, the food is delicious! It also isn’t the safest location because there are a lot of questionable people in the area. Make sure you always go with a buddy! This place is also open late but I wouldn’t recommend going when it’s dark because like I says, there are some questionable and possibly shady people in the area!

I got the #3 combo — 3 rolled tacos with rice and refried beans. It was pretty good, there was a generous amount of cheese and guac. I was surprised I really liked the refried beans because I normally hate that. My husband got a fish burrito and wasn’t too crazy about it. He said it was kind of flavorless.
