Their food gave my husband food poisoning something awful :(won’t be going back.

I can live with this kind of sushi. Kind of pricy compared to other sushi bars but they serve decent sushi depending on what you buy. Customer service is nice. It can be very dead here. But I’m fine with that!

Okay experience but probably won’t go back. Food didn’t taste fresh and not busy

So bamboo hut has gone down hill in my opinion. not only did i wait 40 min to get my to go order but when i ordered a valcano roll, which says baked salmon on top in their menu, they gave me a white less expensive fish. I can understand the wait because there was a group of 6 – 7 at a table which got their order in first, but 5 more people came from their group and took 5 min with menus to look for food and they all got their food before mine was even in a box. The food itself did not make up for the bad customer service i received. and the waitress saying«your order is up next»(2x by the way) and lying to my face makes me never want to come back and stop anyone i know from going. Even if they offered me free consolation food i would not come back.

Cons: The place is dirty and the fish is not fresh. Pros: Inexpensive and lots of parking.

While the happy hour specials are prices you can’t beat, the food itself is horrendous. Dry, lacking freshness and just bad. Plus I wasn’t too fancied by our waitress with all the sass.

Great happy hour specials from 3 – 6. Try the Mira Mesa Roll, it’s really good. Not very traditional and they have hip hop music playing but at least it wasn’t very loud. If you’re looking for a sushi place in a pinch with decent prices on their rolls then Bamboo Hut is good. Don’t have the lumpia or miso soup, it’s not very good.

So I’ve honestly never really liked Bamboo Hut. I’ve felt they were a bit over priced for sushi that was just OK. So because of that, I haven’t been here in about maybe 2 or 3 years. I came back for a dinner date with my best friend, because she just started at a waitress there. I met Wilmer for the first time, he is super nice and funny. & he really does know a thing or two about sushi. I’m really glad that they now have a happy hour, &OHMAN, is there happy hour menu really good! I feel different about this place now. When I went the last time, my sushi was super super good(I’ll have to update this review the next time I go in, because I forgot which rolls I ordered). & their hula hula wings are AWESOME.

This place is just alright. I ordered the garlic beef bento box and my boyfriend ordered the teriyaki chicken sandwich with«garlic fries.» My garlic beef was rather bland and disappointing. I’ve had way better garlic beef at other sushi restaurants. The macaroni salad that it came with was pretty tasteless as well. I think the most flavorful part of my meal was the orange wedge. And the fries that came with my boyfriend’s sandwich were definitely not garlic… they were just plain old fries. Why would you put something so misleading on your menu? I also thought it was tacky that they were served with PACKETS of ketchup… it just made the place look cheap. What was really bad was that since we sat at the sushi bar, it gave us a perfect view of their kitchen… which was dirty. The sight of nasty towels and piles of dirty dishes is not very pleasant when you’re eating your lunch. But on the bright side, our server was nice.

What happened to you, Bamboo Hut? When I was younger and still living in Mira Mesa, your place had some of the best bento box lunches to ever be put onto a menu. Fast forward a few years later and my husband and I walk in, because I’m waxing nostalgic about your food and I’m craving a Hawaiian lunch, and we order our old usual. The rice was cold. Very heavy on the sesame oil, to the point where it’s not palatable. The miso soup was delicious, but you really can’t screw up miso soup. The beef teriyaki was decent, pretty average, but nothing spectacular. The salad had very little dressing on it, and overall the meal just left us thinking, «we have to pay $ 20 with tip for this, we might as well have just gone to Burger King and gotten two Whopper combos and saved ourselves $ 5». You ever have a memory of something that’s so pristine, that you’re almost afraid to go back and experience it again for fear of sullying that memory? That’s what our last trip to Bamboo Hut was for us.

I used to go here a lot back in the day, havent been back in a bit since i moved out of town but the HAPPYHOUR menu makes it worth it. everyone likes paying less right? sometimes this place gets busy so food will take a minute to come out but if you’re in a rush you shouldn’t be going here anyway. cool little spot in the bankofamerica parking lot.

So I came here after a failed attempt to eat at Loving Hut. It was around 4pm and I’ve had nothing to eat but a sad bowl of fruit earlier that day. Loving Hut was closed, and I Unilocaled sushi restaurants that would be open at the time. Boo… not a lot were. I mean, I get it… many small biznazzes are closed during 3 – 5 or whatever so they don’t loose money. In my opinion, I feel as if that’s the window of opportunity to MAKE money. Its like those businesses are not confident enough in making sales during the slowest hours of the day. Why am I talking about this again… oh, right… Bamboo Hut fills that void of hunger during slow hours of restaurant businesses. They fill that void with an awesome happy hour from 3p-6p and an exploding tummy of sushi. If you dine in, they have lot’s of $ 3, $ 4, $ 5 specials on rolls and other appetizers. Beers, i believe, are about $ 3 and wines are $ 4. Since I was a hungry hippo at the time, we shared: Bamboo Tempura Roll – crab, tuna, cream cheese, yamagobo? & all deep fried– which was absolutely delicious. Then again, I virtually say that about all things deep fried): $ 6 Pizza Roll – salmon, crab, avocado, broiled with some… aioli type sauce– It was good. That’s all I can say. I was expecting scallops or something of that sort on top, but there werent any, sooo… *cricket noises. I wouldn’t get this again.$ 5 Miso Soup– this must have been the coldest miso soup I’ve ever had. I mean, yeah it was warm… slightly. I like soups to be how soups are supposed to be… hot? Not exactly worth my $ 2 Gyoza – 6 deep fried VEGETABLE in a green wrapper– I was SO excited when I saw this. Upon turning ovo-lacto-piscatarian(I basically don’t eat any form of ‘turf’ meat), I always get excited to see vegetarian items on the menu. I believe they only have vegetable gyoza, which would be great… if they hadn’t sucked so bad. I’m not exactly sure myself what was in it. It was a bit hard to decipher. I know for SURE there are big olé things of soybeans in there, but there are other starchy mushy veggies in there. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t get these again… but kudos on the green wrapper! $ 3 My girl frienddd got a Spicy Tuna Roll for $ 4. Not that bad. I’d probably get that over the Pizza Roll though. The boy friendd got a $ 7 bento box with chicken kelaguen with garlic rice and added a 2nd item, kalua pork, for $ 3.50. Obviously I didn’t try it, but I’m not crying over that, because he didn’t like the chicken kelaguen at all and the kalua pork was«better than the chicken kelaguen». The portion of the garlic rice were two small kiddie scoops of rice. HAHAHAH I laughed when I saw it. It was a pretty funny sight to see when you include a dude that eats a LOT of rice with his meat. I took a nibble from the rice, and quite frankly, the garlic rice I make at home beats it by a decathlon. He’d be better off stuffing his face with a bunch of cheap sushi rolls. $ 10.50 The atmosphere changed since the last time I came in; seems like they’ve spent some of their budget on the décor and the change in menu. I think they might even have a full bar since they have specialty drinks. Service was okay. The girls were cute and kind, but I feel as one of them had a hard time hearing us. My girl friend asked for 5 spicy mayos(there was the 3 of us) and were given 3. Hahahah. Did she not hear or did she not believe that we almost literally DRINK that shiiii7. In terms of attentiveness, pretty good, but didn’t ask to refill drinks once. In terms of speed. couldve been MUCH faster based on the fact that there were only 2 tables inside and 1 outside. Overall, I think i’d only come here when there’s a call for desperate measure, like when every other darn sushi place in the immediate area is closed. I’ve noticed that sushi places are starting to include islander food, which is AWESOME, but if you can’t make it authentically or even to taste right, it’s a waste of time and good money. Leaving on a good note, a second kudos goes out to Bamboo Hut for being brave enough to open for happy hour. The End.

I was very disappointed. I came with my wife after buying their Groupon Promo and I will never come back. The wings were pretty good but it all went downhill after that. The Mochi Chicken bento was ok. The Marconi salad had no flavor. The garlic rice was good and the salad was standard. What really upset me and the reason for the 2 star was the airport quality sushi. It reminded me of the type you buy prepackaged from supermarkets. Sunset roll: was the worst, nothing but a glorified cali roll and way over priced. Hawaii 50: a tasteless spicy tuna roll with seaweed on top. I love food and have never not finished my sushi. Guess there is a first time for everything.

So I just went here with my partner and his parents and dang was it good. we ordered a grip of sushi and his parents ordered like some kind of box meals witch looked good and they made it look nice also. but one thing is the macaroni did not taste very good(came with the box meal). but i had a salad with raw fish and octopus and seaweed and it was actually pretty good. I will be back for sure for the sushi.

You have to come here when Wilmer, the sushi chef, is working! He’s awesome! I’ve been here when he wasn’t working, and my sushi took forever to come out! Also, the waitress that day wasn’t so great. Minus one star for that. Otherwise, I usually have a good time here, and I love ordering sushi from Wilmer because not only does he make some of the best sushi, he cuts the tails off the ends of our rolls! I have never had a sushi chef do that, and we didn’t have to ask him! Also, tell him what your favorite sushi ingredients are, and he will make an awesome roll to your taste. Try the Star Roll and Magic Shrooms! Their happy hour from 3−6pm is great, but I wish it was until 7pm! 6pm doesn’t give me much time to go there and enjoy the happy hour after work!

What I like about this place is the happy hour — about 10 different rolls at half price from 3 – 6. I’ve tried them all, and they are all delicious! Plus, some of the regular menu items are just plain great — I especially like the teriyaki chicken and seaweed salad(which is not on the menu, but readily available if you ask the servers). What I don’t like is how long it takes to get your food — the last time I was there, it took about 20 minutes for us to get our order. Not to mention that the inside is kind of cramped. Still, I’ll be coming back.

Every single time I go here, my food takes FOREVER to come out. The last time I went there was the final straw. I met with my mom and brother who had already placed an order about fifteen minutes before I got there. A spicy tuna roll, a tempura Philadelphia roll, and a tempura California roll. The waitress took my order, a spam musubi with garglic rice, and came back a couple minutes later with my water. The spam musubi and California roll came out half an hour later, and the waitress told us that the rest would be coming out soon. Are you kidding me? It really took 45 minutes for the chef to make a California roll? And finally 15 minutes later(an hour after the order was placed), the last of the food came out. I have absolutely no patience for that kind of service. It should never take an hour for your food to come out, especially when your food is two rolls of sushi. I don’t care that it was happy hour and the place was packed — I’ve been to another sushi place of around the same size, and was packed with only ONE guy cranking out the sushi rolls, and it never took that long. Under normal circumstances, the food would have tasted decent. But the hour-long wait made it taste horrible. I won’t be back.

Wilmer, one of the sushi chefs, is the man. If you like spicy tuna, ask him to do something with it and you’ll love it. The only amazing sushi in Mira Mesa.

This place is really cheap during happy hour. All rolls are like between 3 – 6 dollars. There are like maybe 10 different rolls offered but they all taste the same!!! The rolls are somewhat greasy because it usually contains some sort of fried food like tempura shrimp or tempura flakes or that the roll is deep fried. The atmosphere is virtually none existent. it’s pretty much a box with tables and chairs in it. The air ventilation is not great. I went on a week night around 6pm and it felt really stuffy.

This is just average sushi, reminds me of the stuff they serve at Sushi Deli. Go for happy hour where sushi is cheap and affordable. This place has a lot of those sushi fried in tempura batter and dressed in spicy mayo. Also got their Kahlua pork w/garlic fried rice meal, nice to have the side salad but not as juicy/moist as L&L’s. Garlic rice tastes like rice with soy sauce and garlic. I do like their kahlua pork burgers, they are all kinds of yum! Big enough to split between two girls.
