You must experience this place if you are in the mood for awsome sushi. The waitress was professional and parking is sufficient.

This place was okay. We loved their jalapeño poppers and the ahi tuna appetizer. However the rolls were not the best. The rolls/sushi didn’t really have much flavor. Our waitress was not very attentive she just showed up to take our order and give us our check.

Food was very good, and the server, Chris, was very helpful in offering suggestions. The lettuce wraps were okay the shrimp crunch roll was by far my favorite of the 3 rolls. We got the ex-girlfriend roll because of the waiters suggestion, but I wouldn’t order it again. We also ordered a few of the saketinis which were also pretty decent. We had a dinner reservation on a Saturday night at 8:30 and the place was dead. Maybe 4 tables were seated in the entire restaurant. I would come again for the happy hour since that seems to be the best deal, but probably skip the normal dinner hours. Also, it was a little hard to find, but if you can find Cozymels– It is just a few doors down from there.

This place is pretty amazing. The happy hour is what you should come for. Rolls are $ 3.50 and appetizers are half off. If you’re looking for something on a higher end compared to food court food, this is the place to go. Not authentic Japanese food** but it’s still pretty darn good Fish is super fresh and servers are friendly. Try the salmon nigiri and Sunset saketini~

I completely agree with a prior review in that« Unilocal should really allow for half star ratings,» because this place is at an awkward 3.5 stars for me. The food is amazing and of high quality, but the wait and service is lacking… to say the least. I’ve been here numerous times. First, when I was still an undergrad this place had just opened and I had a lot of great experiences here.(mostly because I had some awesome friends working here) However, as the years have passed, this place just slowly deteriorated. This is based on my most recent visit a month ago: the food: I am always a fan of their ex-girlfriend/boyfriend rolls(mostly because they don’t have rice, but sometimes b/c i have some sort of unresolved anger???) anyways, their fish is always of high quality, but the prices is just a little too high for my liking. the service: the wait here can get ridiculous. and b/c of the awkward positioning of their tables, it’s really hard to wave down waiters. I probably won’t be coming back here unless«call buttons» are installed at each table.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a new sushi spot to try out and I found this place was only 15 minutes away and I’ve heard good things about it. It was a bit difficult to find since the map guided towards the business area however after calling the restaurant they easily told us where to go. I like the outside of the restaurant, the logo is nice and professional looking. Walking inside it seems to be bit of a big space. There is a small lounge area and bar and then lots of booth seating. We came around 10PM and to our surprise it was their reverse happy hour. The happy hour is a great way to attract customers and I was actually really happy to find that their deals are worth it. For specialty rolls you can get 1 for the second roll half off, half off appetizers and basic rolls or handrolls for $ 3.50. I felt the interior was quite nice except the changing colors of the wall, I felt it was tacky and extremely unnecessary. Also the music they played was blaring and I felt I was at a EDM rave, and at dinner it was almost a deal breaker for me. I understand they have drink specials and it was late night however there were few patrons that were enjoying the music, except one table of a younger crowd dancing with their hairs on end. Besides the obnoxious ambiance, the food was great. I ordered the hawaiian roll and a basic salmon roll and my boyfriend ordered an eel roll. For these 3 items it was only $ 24 and we both agreed that everything tasted spectacular and we spent less than what we usually do at a sushi joint. In conclusion, I will be back during their happy hour.

I came here on valentines day and the ambiance is lovely. I ordered the Tokyo roll, baked roll and the bora bora roll. The Baked roll; surf and turf with filet mignon and crawfish meat was cold not warm. I would think it would be warm since it’s baked but it not. It was disgusting in my opinion. The filet mignon came on the side and that was even cold! The Bora bora roll came with seaweed salad in the middle. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody because the sushi is not great quality and they are overpriced. The Tokyo roll was the only one I could tolerate and it tasted basic to me. The only thing I really really liked was their oysters, they are pre-marinated in their own special sauce & the oysters are already detached from their shell. LOVEDIT.

Lots and lots of memories at this place. This was my Go To place for Sushi before I graduated UCSD. Every time I’ve been here has been an awesome experience. I’ve been here for mainly happy hour but have also been here for dinner quite a few times back in the day. The ambiance of the place is awesome. They are very clean and well organized inside. Its very spacious with a lot of room, you won’t feel cramped in this place. Customer service has been excellent every time I’ve been here. The servers are quick and attentive, they often check up and make sure your meal is going good. They are quick to offer suggestions when asked for suggestions. I’ve tried some of the sweet sake here and it was so good. The sushi is a little more expensive side, but its quality sushi. For what you are paying, you are getting HIGH quality sushi. You can definitely taste the fresh ingredients and fresh fish they use. Be careful coming here for lunch/dinner rush. They are very popular so they fill up quick. Even though they fill up, the wait is not too long as they are a large restaurant and can accommodate a lot of people. Bluefin Sushi will always hold a special place in my heart as its one of the cherished memories I have from my college years. Awesome sushi, awesome customer service. Come on by and give Bluefin a try!

My coworkers and I love coming here! We like ordering the bento boxes since they come with a miso soup, salad, rice and your choice of a variety of 2⁄3 items. The lunchtime prices are $ 10.95 for a 2 item and $ 14.95 for a 3 item bento box, these prices are decent for the quality and the amount of food you get. We usually come around lunchtime, which I suppose is when everyone and their mothers come here because parking is terrible and there’s always a wait(even for a 2 person table). They’re just popular so I can’t hold this against them. The taller hostess in the front was very nice and apologized for the long wait. The restaurant itself is pretty nice, lots of booth seating which I prefer. Their decorations are modern and they have a whole wall of color changing lights behind a glass of flower designs which is cool. BUT, every rose has its thorns and unfortunately for BlueFin this happens to be their subpar customer service. Our server, Daniel, did not once come by to ask how our meal was or even check on our drinks. Once we finished I had to flag down another female waitress and ask her to bring us boxes and the check because he was nowhere to be found. In fact, we never saw him after he gave us our water and took our order. What gives? Lastly, to the little hostess in the front, as I said multiple times my name is «Joyce» NOT«Jack» like you kept calling out, before so rudely snubbing me off. I’m sure you thought I was only trying to move my name up on the list, but that was not the case so your attitude was greatly unappreciated!

Still my favorite restaurant! They even know me by name now… sigh. Haha(I secretly love it) Consistently great quality and flavored food! Never lets me down. Never! Thick pieces of fish and great sushi rice that sticks properly and forms the rolls well, FANTASTIC happy hour prices, super accommodating for both huge groups and romantic dates, great music, lighting, service — all their servers are spectacular! I could go on and on… I LOVEBLUEFIN!

Came here for lunch and enjoyed every bit of it! The lunch specials are a great deal and it goes on til 4pm! I got the lunch bento with mixed sashimi and nigiri sushi. Got 6 pieces of fresh sashimi and 3 pieces of nigiri. Tuna, salmon, hamachi. Came with rice, salad and soup too! Also got the ex-girlfriend roll because that was recommended by everyone on Unilocal. It had a lot of crab and fish on it(no rice), and it was good but I didn’t enjoy the slimy texture of how it all went down. The green tea tempura ice cream was . Would come back for lunch if I was ever back in the area.

Yummy! Came here on a Thursday night. We kept the drinks and sushi constantly flowing! Everything was so good throughout the night, including the service and the quality of food. I’m so glad the management changed since ~2 years ago because they improved significantly since then. Cheap alcohol and cheap sushi. Don’t come here expecting Kaito Sushi /Sushi Tadokoro /Sushi Ota. 5⁄5 would recommend for people who want to have a good time.

I am a lover of sushi/sashimi and am always on the lookout to try new places! Came here on a Saturday night 6:30 with reservation a few days before(thanks, Unilocal!). Pros: –nice atmosphere! Super clean and great place to hang out with friends. –good service! Waiter was super nice and chill. Gave pretty good suggestions for college students. –fast service! It was a little slow that day, so maybe that’s why the food came so quickly. But either way, good timing! –variety! Lots of different dishes. Appetizers, Rolls, noodles, salads… yum!!! Cons: –sadly I can’t come here everyday since it would definitely break the bank… Overall, definitely would come here again to try other rolls! We ordered: –chirashi bowl $ 20 –protein roll $ 13.95 –lobster roll $ 14.95 –vegetarian udon noodle soup $ 9

Please note this review is solely for the Late-Night Happy Hour. I had never been to Bluefin for their sushi happy hour before, but I’m so glad I did. After being a regular at Ki Sushi for their happy hour specials and experiencing Bluefin, I’ve decided that Bluefin’s happy hour is definitely superior to Ki Sushi’s! For our late night meal we ordered: $ 3 California, Spicy Tuna, and Shrimp Cut Rolls $ 3 California Hand Rolls 50% off Fried Beef Gyoza, Sesame Chicken $ 1.50 each Fresh Oyster(limit per person is 2) $ 4.00 cocktail specials For $ 3 you can’t really beat that price for late night sushi, but the cut rolls are more filling. Our server was super attentive during the whole meal checking in and refilling our water. However they did forget part of our order, since they have multiple servers bringing out the food, which is slightly disorganized and confusing. But they were very apologetic. The only thing I wish that was different about the overall experience of the meal was that the music be lowered. The music was blasting like it was a nightclub and it was hard to hear what my friends were saying throughout the meal. I would probably come here again for late-night sushi in the UTC area.

I came here around 10:30/11p on a Thursday night with a group of 20+. We made a reservation for about 15 but we didn’t account for the extra people so the wait ended up being 30 – 40 minutes. For a large group like us, they accommodated us really well. Usually, I feel like servers would be annoyed by huge groups of broke-college students coming in, but the service was still amazing. I ordered the ex-girlfriend roll because I was craving sashimi, but they didn’t have it for happy hour so I ended up getting that roll since it had yellowtail, tuna, and salmon sashimi. The sauces and the sushi itself was tasty but the sashimi on top didn’t feel that fresh. I’ve been to Sushi Ota where the salmon sashimi seriously just melts in your mouth, so my standards are a bit higher. Nevertheless, I think it’s still a great place to just hangout with friends and grab some sushi, but I don’t think it’d be my first choice. If I could, I’d give 3.5 stars. TL;DR: Food: 3⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 Price: $$

I wasn’t too hungry but my husband wanted to take me out to lunch so we came here because he’s been here with clients and they liked it. We were seated immediately since it was empty at the time(just the start of lunch). We put in our order within a few minutes and we were greeted with miso soup once he returned with our drinks. My husband got the crazy lunch combo and I had the energy roll. I wasn’t too hungry so I got one roll to start. However, our waitress seemed confused when my husband asked for suggestions and had a few questions. She wasn’t too sure of the menu and maybe it’s because the menu was big? But nonetheless, better training is needed because our waitress didn’t answer any of the questions my husband had. The décor here is nice and I was impress with the presentation for my husband’s crazy lunch combo. My energy roll wasn’t bad, it was actually pretty tasty. However, our service was lacking a bit. Our rolls took a bit of time to arrive and no one came to check on us afterwards. My ice tea was empty for awhile and by the time they came to refill it, it was time for me to leave. This place has potential, they just need to get their employees trained better on the menu as well as know what to suggest and upsell.

Didn’t come here for happy hour… Didn’t come here for lunch… Didn’t come here for dinner… So what did I come here for? I didn’t! My BF got me tuna poke from here because I was craving a tuna poke salad for a loooooong time. He surprised me by delivering it to my work place. The portion on the bluefin poke salad was huge(but I just saw the price $ 14!) So for the price it’s proportional to the serving. It was good, the tuna used for it wasn’t the fatty tuna, the chunks were nice, big and lean. It was like a meal and it sure got me full. The avocado on it made it so much for delicious. I think it’s one of the better tasting poke salad out there… but for that steep price… better choose wisely. I would come back for their poke salad and maybe to try other things… or happy hour since everybody seems to talk about it!
