If I could give 4.5*‘s I would. I was born and raised in the Bronx, so I grew up around Bronx Pizza. This comes pretty close to it but not exactly. Maybe it’s just the water in the Bronx but if they could import the water from the city here and use it to make the dough then it would be a 5-star place.

Love the pizza here. Thin slices, stretchy cheese, and well balanced in all of its greasy glory … tasted like a NY slice to me! Or pretty damn close for being in San Diego. Upon ordering, I asked the guy behind the counter: «Is this really as good as NY pizza?» Without skipping a beat, his reply was«Even better». Oh, it’s on! As I sunk my teeth into the first bite, one of the patrons who visits his mother in NY, watched my reaction… «Mmm…» Laughter ensues. A number of people have recommended it to me, and finally had the chance today. Glad I did! The Slices are a smaller than it would be for typical NY pizza slices, but I could still fold it into a pizza sandwich like you would in NY. When you order they bake it and then call out your order and you pick it up at their window, so pay attention! It’s grungy looking from inside and out, in a parking lot with laundromat, liquor store, Mexican food stand… Seek other places for date night. But it’s well maintained and they serve good, no frills pizza. Great for a casual lunch. There’s seating inside, and a few tables in the little to-go area in front. Parking available in back. I’ll be back. Maybe to order a whole pie next time!

I was honestly searching for the perfect t place to eat lunch in SD… I spent an hour on Unilocal looking and I gave this place a chance and it was the best decision I made! I was looking for something cheap but good quality/quantity and this place is both! The pizza so slices are New York style so they are huge and definitely delicious. The pizza is a work of art and should not Be called pizza for how good it tastes. I suggest this place 100% and I will be going back when I’m in SD. I suggest the margarita pizza! Amazing !!! Lunch special is $ 6 for 2HUGE slices and a drink and they have whole specialty pizzas which are not too expensive at all!

I absolutely love NY pizza. We go yearly and that’s The first thing we get when we get there. I was yearning for some NY pizza and my husband found this place. We decided to try it, although I was skeptical because nothing ever tastes like the real thing. But THIS was simply amazing. We ordered a whole pie: half pepperoni, half Whitestone spinach and they were both amazing! It is legit NY pizza! We will definitely be back.

I am not a pizza fan. It’s usually doughy or greasy and disappointing, leaving me feeling heavy and gross, but I stopped in here in a hurry to grab a slice on my way to somewhere… I have been craving it ever since. Crispy thin crust, the right amount of sauce, good topping selection and their calzones look amazing. I’m going to try those next.

After my second daughter was born at UCSD Hillcrest, I went searching for good food late on a Thursday night. Bronx Pizza had just closed, but heard me out and managed to find half a cheese pie for me. And they gave it to me on the house! Amazing service at an amazing moment. Thanks guys — I will be back!

Finally tried this place, not sure what took so long. Ordered the white cheese, with mushrooms and extra garlic. Pizza was on point and reasonably priced. Will definitely eat here again.

Thin crust pizza for life! Bronx Pizza makes the best NY pizza I’ve had outside of NYC. It isn’t quite as good as the real thing, but it is pretty dang close. They have a good selection of pizzas to pick a slice or two from and then they pop them back in the oven to hear them up and crisp up the crust. Plenty of seating in the back, way more than you’d expect from the small storefront on Washington. Pizza tastes amazing, excellent cheese to sauce ratios. I wish my margarita had more basil. Cash only, no frills. Customer service is basically nonexistent and I get it that they make good pizza and have the NYC vibe going, but I’ve had plenty of good friendly people help me at pizza joints in the city, so a little smile and a tad more patience couldn’t hurt.

Parking: Meter parking right outside the store. Plus if you don’t mind walking a little bit(one block west), there’s 50 cents/hour parking available. Food: I don’t usually eat pizza, but when I do, they must be seriously delicious. I’m really glad this place has a lot of options for vegetarians. The mushroom Pizza and veggie pizza are both very delicious. My favorite one is the veggie pizza because they were very tasty and weren’t that greasy compared to the pesto/meatball/pepperoni ones. Very chewy and thin crest here! Very casual place with plenty of seats in the back of the restaurant. The restaurant could be a little bit cleaner I think. Some of the trash cans are right next to the table. It would be awesome if they could move the trash cans just a little further from the tables. There’s a Domino’s on the opposite side of the street, and it’s still operating? :D Only downside is cash only though. AND You can even«make you own pizza» on a piece of paper using the cryons and put it on the wall just for fun!

In SD for Unilocal Spring Break. Gotta pass by Bronx if I’m anywhere near SD. Got the Porko and Whitestone again. Pizza is still amazing. This place is still cash only. And now I’m updating it to 5 stars. The texture of the crust throughout the pizza and the quality of the cheese is completely different from anything I’ve had. They warm your pizza up right too. This place is the best and wish they had one near OC/LA area. You win this round SD. Lucky bastards…

So… This is a zero frills pizza place. Be prepared. But the pizza is a delicious slice of non pompous pizza. Service– What do you want, is that all, thanks. Nothing personal. They call orders by pizza slice names. Every slice is heated. Crust– outstanding. Crunchy, crisp, thin. Whitestone– white sauce is rich & salty, full of flavor. Ricotta– yum. Mushroom w/red sauce– this is good also, but slightly on the salty side. Spinach w/white sauce– lots of spinach, & again– great sauce. *** Beware the parking. It could take a while. Sign in the window shows parking on Front St– .50 per hour. *** Cash only.

No fluff, no bs, just a straight-to-the-point pizza joint. I love me a good thin crust pizza and this place knows exactly what they’re doing. Simple, yet perfect. This is my go-to spot for a delicious slice of pizza. I highly recommend the pepperoni with hot peppers. It definitely has a spicy kick to it which I thoroughly enjoy. Prices are ridiculously cheap: $ 2 for cheese, $ 2.50 with toppings, and $ 6 combo for 2 slices and a drink. CASHONLY!

After so many positive reviews, and quick need to fill my stomach; I headed to this little spot for some slices of pizza. It took me a long time to find parking, and I ended up parking in sort of an illegal spot: Parking lot of a laundromat next to the pizzeria. $ 2 for cheese slices $ 2.50 for any topping slices & Combo Special for $ 6, giving you any two slices and a fountain drink. I got the special slice(2 meats and some veggies), and I got the spinach ricotta one. The service isn’t rude, rather quick and systematic but I have experienced friendlier folks serving me(In n Out is a good example of a busy yet friendly spot). The overrated pizzas were kind of bland to me, and on the dry side(maybe due to preheating a slice?). However; their crust had an authentic taste. So that damn crust will make me come back and try another kind of slice if I pass by the neighborhood. Is it the best pizza spot in San Diego? «I wouldn’t think so». Is it going to be worth another visit? «Sure it is, economic prices and good crusts»

I’m from the LA county visiting SD and was told my at least 5 different people that Bronx Pizza is one of «the spots» to eat here. Searching through Unilocal, this place also had one of the most reviews with 5 stars, so I had to see what the hype was all about! Parking was kind of rough, it’s located in the back. The streets are like LA/Hollywood where it’s crowded, cars are always parked on the curb. You can’t park by the cleaners, the restaraunts parking lot is in the BACK. I walked inside and a white man greeted me. The service wasn’t outstsnding but not awful at all. Just a man working a cashier job. He gave me three recommendations: Pepperoni, Spinach & Cheese, and reg Cheese= $ 7 Took about 4 minutes to get all heated up and ready to go. Each slice is pretty big! For $ 2? That’s awesome! Me and my boyfriend finally went ahead to taste and there were some things missing. according to our expectations from all the hype! Flavor isn’t powerful, a bit bland actually, however it didnt feel really bad eating the pizza just having the piece of mind that everything’s authentic ingredients. But the pizza wasnt as flavorful as we thought it would be. Final verdict: it’s OVERHYPED. It’s not bad pizza but it personally didn’t overwhelm us. Definitely could be a hit or miss.

This is the most authentic NYC pizza I’ve ever had. If you’re a fan of thin crusted pizza, Bronx Pizza is the best place to go in San Diego. They sell slices by the slice($ 2) and also whole pies. Toppings are an extra 50 cents. There are a variety of pre-made pies and all are worth trying. My favorite was the veggie. I highly recommend ordering several different slices and tasting them all!

I’ve been to Bronx many times pre Unilocal, but recently came back after some time. Bronx remains consistent in so many ways through the years. Service is quick and friendly. Came on a week night to grab a quick bite. Bf wanted beer with pizza and when he asked if they had anything, the guy behind the counter recommended grabbing whatever at the nearby liquor store and bringing back. We ordered a couple slices of pizza(margarita, pepperoni and mushroom) and a calzone. Calzone takes about 15 – 20 mins to make so we asked to hold off on the pizza till calzone was ready. Décor is exactly as I remember with the exception of more seating in the back and patio in between. Pictures of boxers or NY are all over. Every table now has cheese, peppers, oregano, shakers so you don’t need to look for them. Calzone is very cheesy. Maybe a bit to cheesy for my liking so had to take some of it out. It’s pretty big and filling. Good quick thin crust pizza. Consistent. Always a good place to come.

Bronx Pizza offers some seriously amazing pizza. The Porko is a great pizza full of great toppings. My favorite of the pizza is the whitestone with pepperoni. I had never had ricotta on a pizza and now I can’t not have ricotta on a pizza. It is extremely flavorful and unique from many other pizza places. The calzones are awesome and the price cannot be beat. They are loaded with 3 awesome cheeses, mozzarella, parmesan and ricotta. It is very rich and flavorful. I love adding pepperoni to mine and either sausage or meatball. Both are great toppings. The staff can be a little off putting if you are not expecting the abrupt attitudes. They are very matter of fact and want the line moving quickly. Don’t take the offense to it. It helps to reduce your wait time in line and for your food. Calling in your order is a great idea if you are ordering a whole pizza or calzone. They do not take phone orders for slices even if ordering a whole pizza or calzone. The place is a little run down inside but who cares you are not going for the atmosphere. CASHONLY — If you are not a cash carrier there is a 7 Eleven across the street.

We were looking for a quick bite to eat nearby after landing at the San Diego airport. I saw this place on Unilocal with nearly over 2,000 reviews and figured we try it out. There’s only street parking nearby, but it was pretty easy to find this place. Be sure to bring cash; no credit cards here! 6 bucks got me 2 slices a pizza and a drink, and it was pretty good. I love places that sell pizza by the slice, especially popular ones cause you know they keep the pizzas fresh and it takes no time at all to get your food. The deluxe came out nice and crispy, but I enjoyed the pesto even more. My coworkers ordered the calzones for around 8 bucks and they were massive. Unfortunately, the power was out in the back since it was a super windy day and we had to sit in the dark, but all in all, this place was great. Definitely stopping by again if I’m ever around!
