Visited San Diego again recently and decided to go back here. It’s still awesome. The guys working there were super friendly and helpful. I ordered one of their standard pizzas, and decided to be difficult by making some modifications, but they were happy to oblige. The service is super fast, the quality of the ingredients is excellent, and the pizza tastes great. I’m coming back here again next time I’m in town.

I came in for the first time today, not knowing what to expect. I had been to pieology before and was under whelmed. The guy who made my pizza was exceptionally nice and even complimented my creation. I asked for my pizza to be made«extra crispy» and everyone was super nice about it. While we waited, we tried every soda they had– DEFINITELY splurge for the soda, they are TODIE for. While my fiancé’s pizza came out fine, they accidentally dropped mind on the floor. They were very apologetic, and when my pizza finally came out, the guy said«it wasn’t pretty enough» and made me ANOTHER one in a to-go box. Great experience and highly recommend it. GET A SODA!!!

Not only is it amazing pizza(that you can customize as you wish at no extra charge), but there’s also a cute guy there named Elijah that you may be fortunate enough to have assist you in the process. LoL. J/k. I mean, I don’t think I’m terribly hard on the eyes, but there’s plenty of other great reasons to check Project Pie out. P. S. The roasted brussel sprouts go great on any of the pies. And if you’re making one with pineapples, just go ahead and add the cranberries. Trust me. ;)

Choices of toppings are kinda limited. Sauces~ red sauced or pesto. I didn’t see other choices of sauces. My friend asked for the sundries tomatoes. They told my friend is seasonal. Okay… now I wonder when it’s the season of the sundried tomatoes. They choices of vg they can put are limited. No arugula. They have grape tomatoes but they will not put them on the pizza becuz that’s for the salad. Oh okay… they forgot my pesto sauce. Over all, I felt okay about this place. Yet I like blaze or pieology more than this.

I came in for lunch after my Dr. appointment for a glucose test after my appointent I was HUNGRY! literally fasted for 12hrs lol. But anyway I had a gift certificate, I was in the area so why not try it :) my first impression of this places ambiance was super hipster and simple. Love it! Me and my boyfriend got the same number 2. Can I just say I love thin artisan pizza?! I really love the fact they don’t charge extra for gluten free dough, wasn’t for me but most places charge extra. And no extra charge for bacon?! My dreams came true lol. But anyways. The pizza was to die for, it was a little too greasy for me. their Cesar sauce is kinda like ranch but better was so good! One of the things I really enjoyed was their selection of underground soda. Their all made with cane sugar! I definitely would bring friends here. I will be back soon!

I’m not sure why it’s taken me two months to write this review, but here it finally is! Project Pie is hands down one of my favorite pizza places. I have yet to have a bad experience. I love the interior of the place and the light fixtures. And I also love how family friendly it is. My 70+ year old grandparents are pretty timid about places for«younger» people, however they felt extremely comfortable here! There is a menu with pre-selected pizzas or you can choose to customize your own. Both are the same price at around $ 8, which in my opinion is super affordable. Plus, if you get a pre-selected pizza you can always add extra toppings with no extra charge! For the custom pizza there is no limit on what you add, so you can put as many toppings as your heart desires. I always, without fail, get the same thing. I do the custom pizza with olive oil and garlic. My toppings include mozzarella, parmesan, pepperoni, prosciutto, bacon, garlic, and barbeque sauce. And of course I add red pepper flakes! My mom absolutely loves the brussel sprout pizza. I believe it’s the number 8. She loves when the brussel sprouts get to the stage right before they’re burned. All the employees are always super nice too! Sometimes I’ll ask for a bit more of a topping and they’ll give me more than a bit, because let’s face it I want MORE bacon And while you’re waiting for your food, take some time and read the walls. They are full of quotes. Some are really funny and some are relatable! My only issue is parking! Wow is the parking lot horrible. It’s extremely small and all the spaces are extremely tight. When the lot is full, you have to resort to street parking. That can be a nightmare at night, especially on weekend nights!

************************So for my Last Review of 2015******************* I was skeptical about going here to this place(despite that it was Marty’s treat) because I am not a fan of Artisan style pizza. Yet, that all changed upon entrance, eating, & the exit. And here, is how they doughed it out to us with a nice greenery salad as big as the pizza! Marty & I BOTH opted for the Artisan pizza # 5 for me & the #2 style pizza for him. #2-Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Crumbled Meatballs, Mozzarella, our signature red sauce, garlic-excellent! #5-Mozzarella, Ricotta, Gorgonzola, Parmesan, Cracked Black Pepper, Olive Oil, Garlic, Fresh Chopped Basil(White Pizza)-palatratinginly superb! The toppings were endless, scrumptious, fresh, diced & prepared so nicely, I was impressed & Gobsmacked, and that goes for our salads too. We opted for the Baby Kale Mix salads, and made those salads Caesar Baby Kale salad with toppings of just about anything from real Bacon Bits to diced red peppers, olives, caramelized onions and more! This all in our salads plus-romaine, parmesan, croutons, Caesar dressing-mastacatingly arousing to the taste buds! And the clincher was our lunches were $ 10& change per person, and the salads & the pizza were the size of a pie-yes, our photos do not lie! Now that’s a deal, because were were so sated we passed on our evening meal and waited for dessert. Adding in the ambiance were the walls with hand written quotes from Mae West, W.C. Fields, and just about every past & present individual quipping so much so you eat, read, and nod in agreement with the content & the sense they made-nice touch. Oh yes, you get a drink with your meal too, and not just Pepsi, Coke or the standard 1 – 3 flavored teas, no, you get an amazing array of beverages and, the refills are free! I had the best Cherry Coke & Marty had the best Ginger Ale from a drink dispensing machine we BOTH have every had-we don’t drink soda much, but this was a treat & they tasted so good with our pizzas & salads. This stand alone eatery with healthy options is a stand alone concept that I truly believe(based on my primarily relevant to a customer experience) will only continue to be successful, expand & delight those who are so bored(like us) of the utilitarian styles & attempts of the pizza joint-this is a light lunch way to go concepts. I highly recommend Project Pie to be looked up on Unilocal whenever you are in San Diego or, traveling. Truly, if you are tired of what I just stated above, just do this, and I guarantee you will reconsider the old and welcome the new, that is Project Pie!

They have a great coupon online! $ 10 for 20 $. That’s what keeps us coming back! It’s a great deal. 2 pies for the price of one. Their pies taste great. The kind I get is kind of basic: cheese, garlic, and olives. Always tastes the same, yay for consistency! They also have yummy cookies that they’ll heat up in the oven so they taste fresh baked! Minus one star because they don’t have ranch! :(

I dropped in with my girl friend who recommended this place as she used to work nearby this area. She had a token or two for a free pizza and due to her high regard for this place, I decided to try it out. And, I am quite glad I did. Parking was limited and if you do manage to find a spot to park its 30 minutes free before you have to pay for it. I think we were there for like a hour and we were fine. Pizza itself without the token would have been $ 8. And to me, that’s a pretty good deal for that pizza that ended up in my stomach. I love the process of «build it yourself.» Getting to choose what kind of sauce you want on it, the cheese, and whatever else you see in front of you that you want on your 11″ pizza. Fresh ingredients to boot. Their Bolyan sodas are so good as well and for $ 2.16 that sounds like a deal to me! Service and environment was wonderful. Everyone there was super sweet and the décor was modernized to a comfortable chill date or a group hangout. The only thing I was sad about was that my arms were too short for the instagram photobooth. Meaning I just need to come here with someone with longer arms next time :)

I spent the last three days in our company’s San Diego office with some guys from my L.A. office to train the San Diego team for a new campaign that we had done recently and the same one which they were just starting this week. The manager of the office took us out for a pizza dinner to talk over plans and to get to know each other better and since this was a short distance from the office, we just all had a nice walk over. The restaurant has a nice modern ambiance. What you do here is you can either create your own individual artisan pizza for $ 8.50 which is a really great deal or order it by number. If you build your own, they allow you to put on as many of the toppings that are offered. These aren’t the smallish individual sized pizzas like CPK either, but are bigger at about a foot in diameter. They have several types of cheeses in addition to the traditional mozzarella and an array of meat toppings made of pork, beef and chicken sausages, ham and the like. You can also add veggies like artichokes, tomatoes, mushrooms and such. It was awesome to be able to put on toppings to your heart’s content. The first guy in the assembly line presses a ball of dough and then you pile the toppings on. After you are satisfied with your creation, the pizza pies are placed into the oven and you wait anxiously for it to get baked and served! The pies were pretty tasty! Although, I thought it would be a lot more flavorful with all the various toppings that I had put on but it really wasn’t but still, I really enjoyed eating it. They also have a great choices for soda in their Boylan’s Fountain soda made using pure cane sugar, no preservatives and no artificial colorings. Flavors include root beers, ginger ale and cream soda to the more traditional beverages like coke and iced tea. You could also build salads and have a salad pizza too if you want. It’s a great place to grab a casual meal and they have a location at the MGM in Las Vegas too. I wouldn’t mind coming back again in the future if I ever were to get back down this way again.

My son & I were looking for an inexpensive, local food option near our hotel(Old Town area) we took Lyft, and got to our destination quickly. It was in a trendy area of San Diego, we liked the neighborhood immediately. What we liked; There are only a small amount of predetermined pizza choices, for the most part, it’s «create your own»! There is only one size, and they are all $ 10 each Lots of toppings to choose from, they put it together in front of you(think subway for pizza) The staff was very friendly & helpful! The soda machine choices rocked! This is not a coke or Pepsi dispenser, it’s a brand I had never heard of, but if soda can be «all natural» this one is closer to that! They use real cane sugar! My choice? Oldie but goodie. black cherry! They are fast! You pay while your pizza is cooking in the super hot pizza oven, then before you know it, you’re eating it! They also have a dessert pizza option, we got the Nutella & Banana one, yum yum! Go here, you won’t be disappointed, unless you are looking for a traditional thick crusted deep dish type pizza. Project Pie is one of the new custom pizza restaurants. Each person gets about a 8 inch pizza and you can pick from a wide variety of toppings. They have a couple different cheeses, many meats and lots of veggies. They only have two sauce options, I kind of wish they had a white sauce option. The service was good and the guys behind the counter offered suggestions, only one seemed a little irritated to be there. Also, the parking lot is tiny and shared with a few other restaurants so I can definitely see parking as being an issue. There are a few tables inside and the only large ones are raised so it can be a bit harder with kids. The pizza is great though and everyone can design their own which makes everything a lot easier. I would give this place another try for sure.

Anytime is pizza time. Project Pie is my favorite BYO pizza place in San Diego. A couple have popped up recently but none really compare to the quality, the atmosphere, and the great people that work there. When you give the people the ability to make a pizza with everything they want at a flat rate is a great responsibility. They are always very spirited and incredibly patient with everyone that comes through. I don’t feel rushed by them, but by my own eagerness to get my custom pizza in my mouth hole. And unlike some BYO pizza places they don’t explain themselves as the Subway of pizza places – it’s just not as attractive when described that way. Everything is so fresh and available to you. You can choose red or white, half and half for your base and then go for it with the toppings. Once you’ve got it to your liking, they slide it into a very very hot pizza oven. it even says so on the oven itself. And in a few minutes they call your name and feeding time commences. Project Pie also has a selection of sodas that are the perfect match to your personal pizza pie. Go for the cream soda.

Thank you, San Diego, for introducing me to the world of fast-casual build your own pizza pies. When I saw the one $ sign and the great reviews here, I knew I had to swing by. Absolutely fantastic. You can watch your pizza get made right in front of you, picking all your ingredients. It’s a great experience, not cheapened by the food itself. The pizza itself tastes great, and the price is fantastically affordable. Wonderful for someone whose wallet was hurting from a long, expensive road trip. Some people get tired of eating the same thing over and over and over again. Well if it’s pizza at Project Pie, I think I have to say that’s completely false. I don’t think I’d ever tire of this place. Great stuff!

I think what people get really jazzed about at Project Pie is the following: — It’s a pretty low price for a custom pizza with unlimited toppings — It’s fun to pick all the toppings you want — Gluten free people get excited about the crust. (I’m not throwing shade at GF people because I am currently trying a GF diet myself.) Anyway, I didn’t find the actual taste and flavor of the pizza to be great. The crust is really hard and crunchy, like a thick cracker.(Again, I had the GF crust which might be different than the normal one.) I felt like some of my tooth fillings might fall out! The service was good; the employees were smiling and nice and very open about the gluten-free stuff. I was also surprised that the pizza cooked so fast in the oven – the wait wasn’t long at all. So, everything was great except that I just didn’t think it was delicious. And I guess I’m not a fan of that really hard, thin crust. Sorry :/

It’s like a subway but for personal sized pizzas. There are other places similar to this, but project pie is my favorite. They have a menu of about 8 pizzas that you can pick from or you can personalize your own pizza with as many toppings as you like. I normally pick from the menu and add or minus the toppings. The more toppings, the longer it takes to heat up but it still comes out pretty fast whether you load it or not. I normally pick one with pepperoni or bbq chicken and douse my pizza with pineapples. The crust I feel is perfect, thin, crispy and soft all at the same time. It’s about $ 9 a pizza. The desert pizzas are good also. I try not to order them but every now and then, I get the cinnamon and icing or the Nutella and banana.

I wanted to bring this whole restaurant home to CT with me! I love the idea of a fast food, yet great quality, pizza! You wait in line, choose your toppings, and watch your perfectly-sized pie as it’s made right in front of you, and cooked in a brick oven. And for an extra reasonable price!

I like this concept of build-your-own pizza, similar to Blaze Pizza in Florida. The selection on ingredients is very good. I especially like that it is one price($ 8.50) for however many toppings you want. They didn’t have as much variety as Blaze, but still very satisfying. I got the classic pizza with mozzarella, ricotta, sauteed onions, basil, sausage, artichokes, and crushed tomatoes. I could have added more for the same price! The pizza was cooked beautifully and tasted great. I especially like that their soda fountain is Boylan soda, instead of the mainstream Coke or Pepsi products. I did ding a star on this place because I am comparing it to Blaze, which has better variety in sauces and toppings. I do commend Project Pie though because they are less stingy on the ingredients, lol.
