Jalapeño/wheat tortilla — yum Organic ingredients and grass fed beef and free range chicken– delicious Free guacamole– score! Forget Chipotle, my poor high blood pressure would rather go here. And every thing is organic ingredients too? Comparable pricing and free guac made me a convert. Everything is similar to that other chain burrito shop. Superior ingredients and less salt will have me coming back Phone in your order first too if you’re in a rush Parking sucks though. And between chicken and beef, I enjoy beef more since it’s well seasoned

Since I’m on the wedding diet, I’m constantly hunting for places that I can eat out and not blow my calories for the day and where my fiancé can eat as well since he is a meat and potatoes kind of guy. We found this place using the«gluten free» app that I have and i was so excited to find a burrito spot with REAL food! We had the chicken little bowl and the carne asada burrito and both were awesome! It was like eating in a friends kitchen with how fresh everything was! Love how cheap and adorable this place is too! It was about $ 7 per person and we were stuffed and happy! This is definitely becoming a regular spot for me!

Spend the whole day at San Diego Zoo and didn’t want to waste money on overpriced food at the zoo. Initially, the boyfriend and I were going to the Subway next to this place, but once we arrived we say this place and decided to give it a try. AND it turned to be a GREAT idea. Since it was our first time here, the worker at the cashier greeted us and helped us through the process. He was very friendly, and was very patience as we looked through the menu. The menu consisted of a variety of choices, but you can build your own burrito, bowl, or salad. I got the Chicken Little Bowl, and my boyfriend got the Carne Asada Burrito. The bowl was a bit spicier than I expected, but it was tasted really good. Boyfriend loved his burrito, and I got to take a bite out of it and I wished I got the burrito instead! The price was about $ 7-$ 8 per person, and the quality of the food is amazing! If you check-in here on Unilocal, you get a free bag of chips! This place is like a healthier version of Chipotle. This place was opened by a couple, and their motto is that they wouldn’t sell anything that they won’t eat themselves. Their recipes and guacamole were all created in their own home which I thought was really cool. More places should follow their motto. I really wished I lived in San Diego, I would come to place more often. But I’ll make sure I’ll stop by when I do visit the city again! Maybe they’ll start opening more places soon! The only downside of this place is the parking lot. It’s a very small parking lot probably only 10 – 15 parking spaces AND you have to pay beforehand, but you can get a free hour validation from any of the stores there.

Very Fresh and delicious. Got the angry bird with the chipotle salsa. Was spicy and I love it. We will be back.

Other than being spicier than normal, the carne asada burrito was nothing special, and subpar compared to just an average burrito. Pico de gallo salsa was also below average. This place is overrated. Skip it and find a better place.

Looks like Chipotle had got some serious competition! First off, let me warn you that Sloppy’s does take a little while to prepare your food as they don’t cook it until you order(complete opposite of Chipotle, where they rush making your food even if you’re the only customer in there). And if you’re one of those hipsters that support sustainability, non-GMO and organic living then this is the place for you! And the wrappers that the burritos come in? Gold foil, that’s what I call foil swag, haha. Before you start chowing away, read the instructions for proper burrito unwrapping etiquette. Their burritos are decently stuffed and you’ll be more than satisfied afterwards. I’ve only been here twice and ordered their Vegan Delight each time. It comes stuffed with tofu, bell peppers, rice and other veggies and even if you’re not a vegan, you’ll enjoy this burrito! My woman always orders the Angry Bird(cool name, huh) and from the few bites I’ve stole in between, I have to say that the chicken is damn juicy and full of flavor! Oh yeah! Check in on Unilocal or 4sq and you’ll receive free organic tortilla chips. Great starter before you grub on the burrito!

Señor Sloppy Burrito makes a fine burrito indeed, especially since they allowed me to turn my Paleo Chicken Salad($ 6.50) into a burrito with a spinach tortilla for only .75 more. I started off my meal with a warm bag of organic corn tortilla chips provided by my handy Unilocal Check In, a thing of genius for sure.( ) The tortilla chips were great. They had a great fresh crunchy texture and great flavor. When my Paleo burrito arrived it was quite huge. It was more on the chubby side, than the long side.( ) I really liked the bright green color of the spinach tortilla, not the mention its great flavor. The burrito was absolutely loaded with tender white chicken that was well seasoned and had great flavor.( ) All the Romain lettuce was crunchy and fresh, and the pico de gallo sauce had a great flavor and a perfect little spicy kick that lingered, but in a very good enjoyable way. I was very pleased with the amount of flavorful ingredients they provided. Service was very friendly and up beat. I pretty sure the guy who took my order and converted salad into a burrito was Ryan. My apologies if I got the name wrong, but he is a very good employee. Great iced tea too! Paleo Salad Gone Burrito… I know its against what Paleo is, but it worked for me…

I found this place by accident. I own a place near here and when I was a young single couGAR I would go on the hunt at times being underweight at the time, in search of good food. This area’s eateries have a revolving door. I think that the sushi place next door was a dry cleaners, Sloppy’s was Persian food place and well SubWay was well always SubWay. I work off of 6th and Quince(thank you Goddess for my job, it beats the hell out of unemployment) and recently was diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency due to sitting on my arse indoors too much during the day time. I decided to creep down the street, make a coffee bean purchase and found this place on the way back. It’s some kind of a chain alright as it is FAR too sterile of an environment inside which I did not care for but what drew me in was the«Organic, sustainable and local» advertisements outside and then the prices. So I figure, if I have a choice to eat at Chipotle’s which I cannot eat due to the heavy sodium and calories, well they are owned by the Box OR for the same price I can eat something that is healthy, good for me, tasty as hell and not sodium’d out. Guess which choice I made? I got the«Paleo Bowl» which was fresh chicken, veggies and fabulous guacamole. The side chips that I could not finish, were fresh and crunchy not that stale shite you get at Rubios. Bottom line, this place is what happens when we as consumers demand to eat cleaner foods! My salad, extra pico de gallo because I eat that stuff like salad and my Pellegrino h20 was 8.00. A burrito goes for 6.50 which is around the same price range as Chipotle but half the calories and healthy(calories 550.) While I am strictly on the Tech side, my company provides healthy solutions for Diabetics, smokers to quit smoking and weight loss behavior changes that don’t involve starving to death. I am going to send the menu from this company to our Ph. D’s, I bet they order food from here. The food is good, it’s fast and it’s affordable and filling. By the way, I saw someone in scrubs eating there which gave me hope, tired of seeing medical staff from Mercy hanging out at Weinerschnitzel, Bronx and other disgusting fast food places. «Hey, don’t go over there eating crap and then cluck your tongue when you check my weight, you just ate at the Weiner Dog» Thank you lovely lady and the skinny Chef guy, you both have great customer service skills, thank you very much for your amazing service. People make or break a business, you both deserve a raise. :)

(I’m hoping the owners read this) I used to LOVVVVVVVVVE and eat @ Sloppys at least once a week. However, I’ve noticed the taste and quality has drastically gone downhill from when they first opened. Sad face. I’m not sure what’s changed but It’s just not the same. I thought maybe the first bad time was just a bad day, but every time after it’s been getting worse and I’ve gone back at least 5 times due to my loyalty but each time I’ve honestly regretted it. Bowl portions has been very skimpy. Alas, the most recent time I tried their new peanut sauce burrito and my usual custom chicken burrito and that was the last straw of our love affair. Both lacked serious flavor. The fillings(ie-cheese, lettuce, chipotle, etc) were all off. There was either not enough fillings, too much or the food was simply not hot. The chicken has been noticeably looking and tasting different. Just the whole awesome experiences I’ve had in the beginning are gone. This makes me reallllly sad as they used to be my favorite burrito joint! Anyways, owners if you are reading this I hope you don’t take offense. Just sharing my feedback. Not sure what you’ve changed, but I hope you’ll re-evaluate and go back to whatever you were doing when you first opened. Pretty please!!! I miss you. SADFACE.

Sloppy’s is by far, the least sloppy(non-Chipotle) burrito joint I’ve ever been to. Everything is spotless. Even the decorative veggies in the window are in good shape(and aren’t just decorative). So don’t let the name deter you. I got the Chicken Little in a bowl with organic everything. You could probably put a record scratch in there. Definitely a rare thing for a burrito shop. A few reviewers have noted a lack of flavor in the chicken… yeah they seem to not be marinating it, which would really take them from 4 to 5 stars. However, the salsa, grilled peppers and(included) guacamole really brought a lot to the table! And for only $ 6.25! It’s fresh-mex for sure, but very sincerely the opposite of «sloppy,» from my experience. Also, their menu features calorie counts without government intervention. Bonus! Those numbers are certainly a good way to incentivize kicking the tortilla to the curb. The staff was really helpful, explained how everything worked to me, being my first time here. I’ll absolutely be back.

18 Jan 2014, 07:30p Hubby and a friend and I decided to try the new burrito place a few doors down from Project Pie when we saw the Project Pie line was all the way to the door. Project Pie is a favorite, but we didn’t want to have to hover for a table, since the line moves faster than people finish eating. The restaurant was completely empty when we entered, but we were greeted right away by one of the employees who came out from the back when we arrived. Everything was very clean and even the cooking area looked pristine. We took a look at the menu and decided on: Two Angry Birds Twinsies Two Tortilla Chips(free w/check-in) The menu has a pretty good selection of different burritos and the prices are certainly reasonable for organic, grass-fed, free-range and fresh ingredients. The variety of tortillas is also a nice touch. The burritos are fairly good-sized and prepared to order. The Angry Bird had a nice bit of heat to it, probably from the Jalapeño tortilla and the brown rice made it a little«meatier» than I think it would have been with regular rice. I’ve eaten larger burritos, but this one was definitely filling. There was also a bottle of hot sauce on the table(house made) which was very tasty. Our friend thought the Twinsies was very good, also. We all decided that we would definitely come back since the food is good and made to order with fresh ingredients. I’m hoping they do a pretty good lunch business because dinner wasn’t very busy. While we were there, another three people stopped by, but that was about it. It’s a good concept and I hope they succeed!

So this is how this review will go down: I don’t care to write reviews. I care, to eat burritos. All kinds. If you like good food that tastes like your(hopefully) talented mom(wife, daughter, grandma, whatever dude) made it, hit up these fine folks. Great, legitimately fresh meats, fresh veggies, and dank ass sauce they make in house. Good service, great burritos.(They got bowls and salads too, relax) Clincher? Free guac on anything and everything. A certain $ 2 we all like to save. Nothin Sloppy about this place either, clean as Clorox. You’re welcome, San Diego.

Second time to Sloppy’s and both trips were 4 Stars! I shared a Chicken bowl on the first trip and today I got the Twinsies burrito… so so good. As previously mentioned in other reviews, the beef is free range and everything is fresh and GMO free… always a good choice. I tried the hot sauce, that Sloppy’s makes themselves, and it is one of the best hot sauces I’ve tried. Very spicy, almost like Ring of Fire… my mouth was feeling it long after the burrito… a deep burn as Ron Burgundy would say. Well worth a trip for a great burrito or salad bowl.

I’ve been here quite a lot since my BF and I discovered this fresh, healthy burrito place. We come here like 2 – 3 times a month. Service has gotten quite better. The staffs are cool and attentive and clarify your orders by asking bowl, burrito, or salad now. Thought that was a great way to increase their customer service and not get things mixed up, and a good way for people to try their salad and rice bowl.(Although the burrito is my fav!) Food here keeps getting better and better! The meats are SOFRESH. The chicken and the steak, verrry high quality. I always get the twinsie and its a great combo of both meats. The guacamole is amazing as well! LOVEIT. Also, I LOVE their cane cola! It’s made of real sugar and not that fake stuff in Coke. It’s 100% better than Coke. Before going to Chipotle, you should try Sloppy’s! You won’t regret it when you are old, NOT obese, and healthy.

Think Chipotle with more«sustainable» and«healthful» options, including those with special dietary needs like gluten-free and paleo. I went on a Friday night, and the place was practically empty. Although I’m sure it gets busier around lunch time during the week. I got their tofu burrito bowl with their 15-chili sauce. The bowl had their baked firm tofu, brown rice, lettuce, and pico de gallo. The chili sauce had a good kick to it, but everything else left a lot to be desired. I thought the flavors were lacking a bit. Prices are reasonable, starting at $ 6.25, and the staff was nice. Also, you can get a free side of stone-ground corn chips when you check in. Overall, I hate to admit it, but you may be better off just going to Chipotle.

Listen up, Chipotle-fans: You need to try Sloppy’s. Sloppy’s is everything that Chipotle *tries* to be — faux-Mexican food served up in a slick fast-food setting. The big difference is that Sloppy’s grub is actually fresh and tasty. I popped into Sloppy’s for a quick lunch while running some errands in Hillcrest. There was no line, and my order arrived within minutes.(Pro tip: Check in on your Unilocal app for a free bag of tortilla chips!) The menu is very health-conscious, with any burrito available to be turned into a bowl or salad. Vegan or paleo or some other dietary restriction? No worries — Sloppy’s has plenty of options to accommodate all of you. I opted for their«Angry Bird» burrito, which was wonderful. Lots of fresh free-range chicken, organic brown rice and black beans, guacamole, and assorted other goodness. They were nice enough to cut it in half for me, but my ravenous appetite thwarted any plans to save one half for later. It was light and nicely cooked too, without an ounce of extra grease.(All proteins are grilled to order here, which is amazing in and of itself.) As for the chips… not so great. They were stale. Rock-hard, even. I shouldn’t complain because they were free, but I’m just throwing that tidbit of info out there. That said, I’d totally go back next time I need a snack in the Hillcrest ‘hood.

This place really does have healthy yummy burritos. If I wanted to be honest though, I wouldn’t call them burritos, they’re so healthy and fresh I’d call them California wraps. The food was great, I took a bite and wanted to stop to be polite and wait for my friends to get their food, but I couldn’t stop and ended up devouring most of it. On that note, this place would’ve had more stars, but the wait time was ridiculous. Granted our timing was a bit bad, 7pm on a Thursday night, meant we were in the the middle of a small dinner rush. There was only 2 guys cooking(only utilizing 1 of the 2 grills for some reason) and my burrito took about 15 minutes to get in my hands. My friends were 2 people behind my and theirs took 20 minutes. Overall, delicious if you’re patient. Very good, healthy alternative with Paleo diet friendly options.

This new spot opened up next to the new favorite Project Pie, but unlike its neighbor Sloppy’s failed to impress. My group of friends came here and found it relatively deserted. We started at the front of what looks like an assembly line, but we quickly found out you order at the front, then they make the food. THATMAKESNOSENSE. It then takes about 5 minutes for you to get a burrito, instead of instantaneously. Why they do it this way escapes me. Then the manager told us they were out of two different kinds of tortilla, some salsas and pork. They kept having to explain that to everyone who entered the restaurant why they didn’t have it. Uh, why not cross it off the menu? Burritos are all $ 7.50, which is a good price, but it’s definitely a small portion. My friends and I gobbled up our food and left the eatery still feeling hungry. Even the guys who ordered a «bigger» meat-filled burrito said they could easily eat another meal. I will say what I ate was pretty good and high quality, but it certainly wasn’t a step up from Chipotle, which is cheaper and has better quality food. But the people working here are really nice, so I added a star for good service. But otherwise? It tastes like two.

Excellent Excellent Excellent! As I browse the«New Restaurant» section every once in awhile on Unilocal,I found this new place in Hillcrest. From the initial picture, it looked like a small taco shop type joint, but I was wrong. This is an upgraded — healthier version of Chipotle. I will never eat at Chipotle again, after eating here. I ended up coming in late afternoon, and thank god there was parking in the small lot. That could be one of the only negatives of the location. I ended up getting a Chicken Burrito with a «Jalepeno» tortila. The good thing about this place, is they don’t charge you extra for Guac(a pleasant suprise). They have you order everything you want at the register. I got my free chips(with Unilocal checkin) and went to soda machine. They have these«Pure Cane sugar sodas» that are supposed to be all natural. Man-oh-man was the soda bomb! I want to come back here just to have a drink of the soda again. Mind you the service is top notch! I was greeted as soon as I entered, while at the register, and even when I left. They even bring you your meal if you’re sitting outside(Not sure if they do it all the time, or just when it’s a little slow). When the food came, the ingredients, the taste was amazing! I ended up ordering the extra spicy sauce, and it had a small kick to it(I’m used to real hot stuff). I might have them add a little more next time. Thank you Sloppy Burritos for giving me a great experience. I hope this place stays here for awhile!
