Now this is a liquor store! Great selection. Clean. And they have a sandwich shop that is to die for. Do yourself a favor and go here.

Friendly staff and great selection. A bit on the pricey side but they have pretty much everything you need and great sandwiches to boot! Their color block organized chip isle is an OCD dream come true!

This review is only about Beer. They have a good selection, but their prices are consistently higher than other nearby stores. I don’t mind if it’s a few cents, but if it’s $ 1.50 to $ 3.00 and more for a 22 ounce bottle, then I will not give them my business. I am not basing this on one or two visits, but more than ten. I used to go there quite a bit when Kensington Video was open across the street and I did buy beer there from time to time. This morning I called to ask for the price for a 22 ounce Port Brewing Wipe Out IPA. Their price $ 5.99. I can get it for $ 4.19 elsewhere. That’s what prompted me to write this review. Not good!

We’ve been coming here for about a year when we want unique or seasonal beers and they have a fantastic selection. Also the cashiers are always super helpful and friendly. They are super informative when we have questions. Today though I finally tried a sandwich and I’m really glad I did. The older lady who took my order & made it was super sweet and put plenty of turkey, avocado and veggies in it, it was packed. It tasted super fresh too which was great. She packed me 2 pickles as well which was awesome because I love pickle wedges. Cute little gem and great for the normal heights locals.

My boyfriend was searching up deli’s in the area and this the closest to us and decided to grab a sandwich for dinner. I was amazed at how delicious they were! The woman made these sandwiches with so much love, they were not sloppy, nothing was falling out or messy.

Clem’s has great sandwiches and a terrific staff in their deli. I’ve been going there for a long time and appreciate their attention to detail and their kindness. My only suggestion? That they expand their menu. After going there for many years’ now, I’d like some new offerings on the menu.

Being the big beer geek that I am, I come here a lot to check out the darker beer selection because Clem’s has a good variety of them and since it’s okay to age those, I know that they will Still be there the next time I go in to buy. Good place for beer traders. I don’t necessarily go there for my fresh IPAs or lighter beers because there shelf life is quicker and I have seen beers there from 6 months after release and prob not good. A bit overpriced, prob because it’s Kensington. But friendly family owned place and would always go there for those darker barrel aged beers and their SANDWICHES! Delicious and enough to split with another person. Also an OCD persons dream, go in and you will see what I mean. CHEERS!

One of my favorite stores in San Diego. They have a huge selection of beer, wine, craft sodas, you name it! If there’s something you’re looking for, you will probably find it here. If not, you’ll find something new that’s just as good! The staff is very pleasant and friendly; they are always ready to help you out. Their deli makes some of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. They use boar’s head meat and really good bread. I usually just get their turkey sandwich with bacon and avocado and all the fixings. Their other sandwiches are just as good. You pretty much can’t go wrong no matter what you order. This place has everything you need for a great time! I’m assuming all you need is food and beer. If that’s it, then I stand by my statement!

Thanks to Unilocalers I found this little gem in Kensington. They have awesome sandwiches!!! Every now and then I head over to Clem’s and grab a sandwich– consistency and freshness! Love it. The people are super nice and pretty sure it’s family owned makes it that much better! This place is clean and organized. Two thumbs up for that. And… The beer selection is amazing! Just a little pricey but the deli makes up for it.

Would be 5 stars because the sandwiches are phenomenal… The beer selection is great, but prices are steep enough to keep me second guessing but considering the Kensington location and that there is parking… They may have something you want.

It’s not easy finding a good convenience store but Clem’s Bottle House is one of them. Clem’s is mainly a great local place to shop for alcohol, you can also get pretty tasty sandwiches here as well. Customer service is professional and friendly as well. The Store is maintained beautifully and it’s always clean in here! Of course, being local and small business, the prices are a bit high but I honestly don’t mind spending a few extra bucks to support these guys. There isn’t anything I’d really change here except that I wish they had a bigger cider selection! Overall, Clem’s Bottle House is a good place to go for wine, beer and even a quick snack! Definitely recommend checking it out if you live in the area.

Their sandwiches are stellar and the booze selection is awesome. The deli can take forever so I suggest calling in your order if you’d rather not leisurely peruse the alcohol selection while you wait.

Another Kensington treasure. An hour before the Super Bowl kickoff, I was in the store with about 20 other last minute shoppers. The selection of root beers had me hogging the space in front of the cooler as I stood with my face inches from the glass, temporarily paralyzed by all of the wonderful choices. When I got to checkout, the owner asked, «You want root beer, not ginger beer, right?» Now that’s attention to detail. It was Super Bowl so there would be guys and there would be actual beer drinking. I had so many choices for beer shopping in that regard at Clem’s as well. Many artisanal six packs were already cooled and waiting the hand off from cooler to customer. I deferred to a brew unknown to me but coming from Coronado. I figured it had to be good if Clem’s had it in stock. Yep, said my host. Score!

Who wants to order lunch from a liquor store? Who wants to buy rare and fine wines from a corner bottle ship? THISGIRLDOES!!! ANDYOUWILLTOOO! First of all, I have such a passion for supporting family owned businesses. Especially when they show such appreciation for you, with an organic friendly welcoming! The quality of the merchandising, visual vignettes, and impeccably clean aesthetic sets this business FAR apart from any other similar establishments. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s all in the detail. From the smiling family members happily working together, to the quality of their brands such as their Boars Head meats and cheeses, quality IPA’s, and the best of any reds, whites or whatever your preferred flavor! I live 15 minutes away, and I now choose to give them my business. Anytime I want a quality sandwich, or refresh my wine arsenal at home, I’m heading straight to Clem’s! Cheers to your continued success! I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know to support you, and I’m just sorry I never stumbled upon you before!!!

Family Run neighborhood gem. All around excellent customer service, awesome sandwiches, and great product. The best way I could celebrate national Sandwich day was to pull up to the parking lot located between Burger Lounge and the Corner Liquor Store. If you have OCD, you will love how neat this place is arranged. All the labels, bag of chips, items on the shelves, are PRISTINE. The selection of beers, root beers, and chips, are extensive, organized, and rating cards are labeled to help narrow your selection for the wines and beers. The sell everything from ice, eggs, milk, and toothbrushes. The friendly dad, Wally, introduced himself and helped carry by bag of ice to my car. The son keeps the store immaculate and fully stocked and the other son was behind the deli counter helping out with sandwiches. I asked for a suggestion of a great beer for out of towers and the son suggested the Pizza Port’s IPA, Swami’s. Many of the top sellers are in the coolers. I can’t wait to try the tasting room in the back parking lot. They deliver for catering orders. I ordered the top 3 sandwiches from the deli(all $ 7.99): Hot Roast Beef on an Onion Roll– The Gobbler — Turkey, bacon, Hot melted cheese The San Diegan– Ham, Turkey, Avocado Sandwiches are huge, I could only eat half of my Hot Roast Beef. They have outdoor seating, but it’s great to eat at the park across the street. All the sandwiches are solid 5 stars with fresh bread, plenty of Boar’s Head deli cuts, and melted cheese. I have driven by this place a million times, played in the park across the street, and I can not believe I have never stopped in to check out this gem in the heart of Kensington. My favorite go to wine was right at the entrance, Apothic Red. Their prices are right on point and the selection is amazing. I will be back here again and again.

Clem’s Bottle House has a lunch counter featuring sandwiches made with Boar’s Head deli meats and cheeses nestled inside a liquor store in Kensington on Adams Avenue. Clem’s fresh hot sandwiches are made to order and are of consistently fine quality regardless of who is preparing them. The two sandwiches I’ve tried have been: Egg Salad($ 6.99) — creamy and chunky egg salad on toasted rye bread, with lettuce and pepperjack cheese. This is my favorite sandwich at Clem’s, though they do tend to annoyingly run out of egg salad by early afternoon on the weekends — just when you need it most to nurse a hang-over. The egg salad has a touch of sweetness, but will mostly be savored for its bright, fresh flavors. Sledgehammer($ 7.99) — not just a pretty name, this sandwich delivers the goods with hot ham, bacon, and cheddar cheese on an onion roll or french roll. I recommend having it «Jay K.» style, with the onion roll, lettuce, onions, pepperoncini, mayo, mustard, and a bag of «Dirty» Salt & Vinegar Chips. The Sledgehammer is a well put-together sandwich that is as filling and tasty as it sounds. All sandwiches come with a pickle spear on the side. There is no seating inside the store, though there are four small tables outside.

Excellent Craft Beer selection! Finally found my Lost Abbey glass that I was looking for! I like the rating on the beer, it’s helpful when you are venturing into new tastes and brands. Also love the deli inside Clem’s, yummy sandwiches at great prices. Great service, even though sometimes the older gentleman can get a little grumpy when I ask why they don’t sell gift cards?! With a dash of grumpiness and me smiling back I have always gotten great service, always have walked out happy with my purchases. If you are not a beer drinker, they also have a wide selection of wine and other alcohol ill and non-alcoholic beverages.
