Patio section has a nice view of SD downtown. Service was excellent. Waiter checked on us several times. Guacamole cart by request. Guacamole goes well with chips and with meat. Carne Asada, quesadilla & tostada: the carne asada was okay. Quesadilla tasted sweet, but delicious. Tostada was flavorful. Churros calientes de la casa: Mexican doughnut with chocolate and caramel sauce. Nice treat. Elysian jasmine IPA(Seattle) had a hint of jasmine with a little hop. The hop wasn’t as robust.

I have found a new love for Chef Deborah Scott now that Coasterra had taken my breath away, literally because of the breathtaking view. I’m a huge fan of Indio Grill and when I had found out about Coasterra opening up and Chef Scott partnering up again w/the Cohn Restaurant Group, I knew I had to take the trip. We came during restaurant week, but opt to just order right off the fabulous menu. We walk up and were immediately greeted by the friendly staff. Our table was ready at the allotted time, but we decided to try their happy hour first. We ordered the ceviche and a couple of the margaritas. The ceviche was fresh, delicious and refreshing and margarita was just right. After dinner we were seated at the booth, getting there around 5pm and were seated by 5:30pm. By 6pm you can see the lights slowly start to dim and brighten up the downtown skyline, such a beautiful sight to see! I ordered the Langostinos and my boyfriend ordered the Carne Asada. Both were so delicious! The prawns were jumbo for sure and the carne asada was perfectly cooked and tender to cut. I highly recommend Coasterra and will be a fan for life!

If you’re looking for a great place to see the amazing San Diego skyline, look no further, this is is your place! This is the place you take your out-of-town friends to impress them and brag about how awesome San Diego is! I hope you have extra space in your place because your friends and/or family who you bring here will want to stay in SD longer! Besides the great views, be prepared to enjoy a tasty modern Mexican-fusion dish! For appetizers, I recommend you try their Crujiente Calamari! The sweet sauce is at the bottom so dig in and get a bite of everything in that bowl! If you’re with a group, the nachos are perfect for sharing as they are individual mouth-sized mojo tostadas loaded with everything nacho! For your main entrée, I’ve had the adobada huaraches and the flavors are authentic! Their enchiladas however come in a pair — one is in a red sauce and the other is green. The red is a little sweet for my taste but the green enchilada is delicious! They come stuffed with chicken and a side of pinto beans and Spanish rice! Hope you enjoy the views and food this place has to offer!

In love with the design, ambiance and views of this modern and upscale restaurant! So in love that my husband and I are planning on having dinner again during our short stay nearby. This place exudes sexy and fun but still gets the job done. Fast service and our server was spot on and a sweetheart. We sat outdoors under a heater and had an excellent view. –Guac made @ your table w/chips –House salad with chicken

I was really looking forward to Coasterra. I finally got to try it when my boss took me there for our Christmas lunch. We started with the guacamole. It was AWFUL. Taco shops 100% make better guacamole than Coasterra’s. It was watery, and the color was off(brownish). I would think it was watery from too much lime juice, but then why was it brownish? The taste was not good. I suspect the avocados weren’t great, and they were trying to make do. For $ 10, I expect way better quality. For my entrée, I had the huarache vegetariano. It was basically a sope with a salad on top. But, there was waaay too much dressing, and the dressing was too sweet. It says it has a lemon vinaigrette, but this was real sweet. It was not good. And, the huarache part was bland. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because service was excellent. And, they have a better selection of Mexican craft beer than most places(although I’d love to see even more choices!). Oh, and the chips and salsa were good. The happy hour specials look good, but I wouldn’t go back to Coasterra again.

I’m going with a 4.5 for this place overall. ALMOST everything is PERFECT. Let’s talk boring stuff first: Parking is valet only. This pains me because I can park my own dang car. Yes, it makes it SO easy and is fancy and impressive, blah blah. I wish there was a self park option!(Note: you actually can self park about 1⁄3 mile down if you really want. There are 2 hour spaces, so if you are quick you can do that. Otherwise, $ 7 valet parking). Nothing else is boring. Moving on! THEVIEWISSPECTACULAR. It is unobstructed, gorgeous, and so impressive. This is great for celebrations, dates, fancy events, treating yoself or your parents, etc. Stunning view of Downtown. The entrance is also lovely. It has large walls and a really cool fireplace seating area to enjoy if you’re waiting. I STRONGLY suggest you make a reservation to avoid a potentially really long wait, since this place is hoppin. The décor is grand and pretty, and just cool. I love the lamp arrangement in the front at the bar! Service: I think like a million people work here. We had at least 5 people bring us stuff, and one«main» server. This makes for quick service and full water glasses! DAFOOD: It is «white people mexican food.» It’s pretty, it’s fancy, it’s not spicy. It is flavorful and delicious! I came for restaurant week with one other person, so keep that in mind as it was a limited menu. They do start every table with some chips and salsa! $ 40 pretax/pretip/prix fixe menu. Apps: –Ahi tuna tostada: YES. The ahi was so fresh and tender and red, and Deborah Scott can play with texture like a master. There was the tender fish, the creamy sauce with a hint of spice, crunchy spiced tortilla strips, slaw, corn, peanuts, beans, all on a tostada. This thing is amazing. –Ensalada coasterra: I loved this too! It also had beans, corn, those spiced tortilla strips, but also lettuce, seared goat cheese(not like chevre, but a drier cheese. It was excellent), some nice spice, and some other stuff I am forgetting but it was REALLY good. Entrees: –mar y tierra: Short ribs, mole sauce, roast asparagus, lobster risotto cake, and a lobster claw. The lobster claw was TINY. How do you find such a small claw? It was good, though. tender and buttery! There were also only 3 asparagus which was weird to me, but I trust them because I was full after. The risotto cake was SOGOOD. The crispy outside and fluffy inside with the lobster and peppers and whatnot was so dang good ESPECIALLY with the ridiculously fabulous mole sauce. I’d have liked more sauce since it was so good, but it was sufficient. The short rib was impossibly tender and excellent. I recommend this dish! –langostinos: Boyfriend got this one, and the langostinos were huge! They weren’t shelled which I thought was weird, but it was easy enough to remove. They were buttery and cooked well and had a nice sauce, almost reminiscent of pesto. It came with a salad that was pretty good as well, and some REALLY good spanish rice and black beans. It was a nice plate! Dessert: I expected more here! If there is room for improvement, it is with dessert. It was just okay, and I had higher expectations because other CRG restaurants make really good dessert, and the food before the dessert here was so good. –Coconut flan: This was okay. The texture was nice and firm and smooth. It was mildly coconut-y and had a cookie on top, which was cool! –Churros: OKAY is it just me or are Costco’s way better? This one(it was actually 4 in a jar – so many!) was really dense and not super crispy. I could only eat 1 before it was too much. The chocolate sauce was SUPER rich and had a skin on it, and the caramel was good but also had a skin. Was it sitting for a while? All in all, this place is great. It has a wraparound walkway to see the gorgeous view, it has a WONDERFUL patio and beautiful indoor space. It is great for just about anything! If they up the dessert game, this place will be one of the best around for sure! PROTIP: You can buy CRG gift cards at Costco, $ 100 worth for $ 80. This place is expensive so if two people go and get full meals, you’ll push $ 100 anyway, so this is a good idea! I wish I knew this earlier, but now I know for next time!

The best view in all of San Diego. Safe menu but everything was fresh. Amazing location and reasonably priced. Server was not very knowledgeable but he was prompt and nice. We’d like you guys to slow down a bit, it’s getting overwhelming. I d be back for a wedding, a date, a corporate event, with a family or by myself

Be still my heart! Coasterra may very well be my new favorite restaurant! The service, the view, the food, the drinks… everything was hands down AMAZING. It is located in the perfect spot. Close to downtown and the airport with an absolutely amazing view of the Coronado Bay Bridge and downtown San Diego. Some of my friends had already checked this place out and told me I needed to give it a try. As soon as I walked up I knew I was in love! The fire pits out front with a view of the city made me scream like a Justin Bieber fan. When you walk into the restaurant the hostess greets you right away with a warm smile. We had a group of 4 and requested to sit outside but someplace warm. As we waited for our table we grabbed a quick drink from the bar. They have different agave flight options(something I had never seen before) and a pretty incredible wine list for a Mexican restaurant. After speaking with the bartender, he said several of the managers were heading down to Mexico to taste agave and tequilas to bring back to the restaurant. If you want authentic this is the place to go! We sit down at our table and it takes about 10 minutes before I even look at the menu because I am soaking in the amazing view. Time to order: as a heads up prices are a little high in my opinion for Mexican food(entrees range from about $ 19-$ 48) but the quantity and quality of the food make it worth it. We ordered the table side guacamole(available after 5:30pm and $ 16) and you can add as many of the toppings as you want(different kinds of peppers, radishes, cheese, spices, etc). I could easily come here everyday and eat the Guac. I ordered the Cedar River Short Ribs Enchiladas($ 23), my friend ordered the Chicken Enchiladas($ 21), and my other friend ordered the Mar y Tierra($ 36) which is a big beautiful hunk of the Cedar River short rib, mole sauce, lobster risotto cake, nice chunk of a lobster claw all atop some nicely grilled asparagus. I tried all of these and every single bite was heavenly. The meat was so incredibly tender and the sauces were so flavorful. If you want to have a flavorgasm in your mouth order the Mar y Tierra! This is a perfect restaurant for a nice date, birthday party, or if you want to experience an all around great dining experience. 5 stars for location, staff, and food.

Our server’s name was Eric I believe and he was awesome at first. My boyfriend got a cocktail and I got a shaken Piña colada, which was probably the best I’ve had so far. When seated there were chips and salsa offered. I’m not usually a salsa person but it tasted wonderful. It wasn’t spicy and it had a little sweetness to it. We were asked if we wanted guacamole but we ordered the calamari instead for appetizers. The calamari was great by itself, but the sauce on the bottom was impressive because it didn’t over power it, it compliments it. There was thinly sliced jicama that came with the calamari and I love jicama! For entrees my boyfriend and I both got enchiladas but they had many differences to them. He had the enchilada that came with mole in it and he loved it. I liked it as well it had a calm cinnamon taste to it. I had the seafood one and it was phenomenal. I usually don’t like enchiladas but this one made me want to try other enchiladas. It comes with beans, cheese and Mexican rice on the side as well. When we were close to finishing our entrée; we were looking for our server. Since we had to go to work in an hour. We wanted to look at the dessert options, so we can put an order in since we had to leave to work soon. We finally got our servers attention and asked him for a dessert menu. 8 minutes passed and we got our menus. He blamed it on whoever was supposed to get our menu because I guess he told someone to give it to us. We were waiting for about 10 minutes more to order since there are only 4 or 5 dessert options and our water cups were also empty. Our server assisted another table, so we asked a female server if she can tell our server that we wanted the churro dessert. She cleared off our table, and she set us up for dessert. She was very helpful and I was sad to not have known her name. Our server came back and said«Sorry for the wait I just got a little busy and I had to take care of other tables. Here let me fill up those waters for you as well». We asked for our check and he walked away to get a pitcher of water or to get our check… I assumed. It was nice of him to apologize but it made me feel that we weren’t as important as his other tables… Another 15 minutes passed and we still had empty water glasses and we haven’t received the check. My boyfriend called over a manager and asked if we can get our check since we had only 25 minutes left. Once the manger came that was the first time any of the mangers came to our table. Whenever we go out to eat we always at least once have spoken to a supervisor or a manger to see if everything is going well. And not one manger did that at this restaurant. The server came and presented our check and saw that our glasses were still empty and apologized again. Apologies are nice but should be made up for by action. We got our water filled and he took the check presenter away. We got our dessert and it was delicious. It wasn’t to sweet and it came with two sauces. It came with chocolate sauce and another. The other one was my favorite. We spent a good amount of time enjoying it. We were all done with our dessert and was still waiting for our change. The server came and apologized and said«I’m waiting for the bar to give me change». We waited and we really had to go by this time. We got our change back left a tip and rushed out. My boyfriend forgot the keys at the table and the same lady that helped us order our dessert ran to give us our key before we noticed we forgot them. She was a sweet heart. Overall this restaurant has amazing food from their salsa to their entrees. They would have gotten five stars but the service was off. A server shouldn’t apologize saying that he is busy with other tables and still continue to lack the service after apologizing. He got the tip he deserved in my opinion because towards the end he neglected giving us service. I might come back again for the food but not for the service.

The Cohn Group has done it again! What an amazing addition to the San Diego restaurant scene! I’ve had this place bookmarked to try solely because of the location. Any restaurant located right on the water like that is worth a try in my book. If for nothing else but a drink and a view! So, when we were looking for a place to eat lunch, I pulled Coasterra up and we decided to check it out. All I can say is WOW. First of all, the view is incredible. If you have out of town visitors in tow, definitely bring them here as it is sure to impress. Or, if you are from out of town yourself, check it out and see why us San Deigans are so proud to call this place our home! Once you’ve ooh-ed and ahh-ed at the views you’ll likely notice that the design aesthetic is beautiful, classy and modern. The majority of the restaurant is located outside, for obvious reasons, but what is inside is beautiful. Once we were seated, we were greeted by our super friendly, very knowledgable waitress. And she was not just knowledgable about the food but about the restaurant as well. She told us all about the restaurant and was great with helping us pick out drinks. Not to mention, she was just genuinely friendly. She happily chatted with us while simultaneously reading our minds to refill our waters and salsa without us ever having to ask. She even came by and put more ice in our cups for our margaritas! She was awesome. Now for the food. I had a Pork taco and a chicken enchilada combo that came with rice and beans. The pork taco I had to eat with a fork because it was so juicy and heaped in a huge pile on my tortilla. I’m not complaining, though, I loved it! My chicken enchilada was stuffed full of tender chicken and it was incredibly flavorful as well! Overall, we were super impressed with the food(which we have come to expect with Cohn Group restaurants, anyways!). My only complaint was that I wished they served more rice and beans with the dish because they are SO good! Overall, I can’t remember the last time I was this impressed with a restaurant. I will definitely be back and, in the meantime, I’ll be telling everyone else they should check it out too!

My family took me here for my birthday. And I must say, what a great way to spend an evening. The view of downtown and the waterfront is absolutely gorgeous. We arrived right before sunset. It was incredible seeing the orange glow of the setting sun reflect off the downtown skyscrapers across the harbor. To start off the night, I had some specialty cocktails. First on the docket was Pilar’s Cache, an amazing blend of citrus and different liquors. Next was a Papa Boracho. I also had a sip of my sister’s Morado Fizz. All libations were delectable. Then we came to the main course. I opted for the Enchiladas de Mariscos, a seafood medley of scallops, sea bass, and shrimp tucked nicely in enchiladas and smothered in a creamy smoked Pablano cream. Delicious. The shrimp was especially tender. Everything was cooked to perfection. My birthday dessert was excellent as well. It was a fantastic way to spend my evening, with family, eating great food, enjoying fine drinks, and a spectacular view.

Absolutely loved this spot during our trip to San Diego recently. Gorgeous space on the waterfront, massive restaurant, with multiple bars, grand open views and very spacious seating. We were all very impressed by the location, the construction, and the friendly staff. I can see why this is quickly becoming a go-to spot for locals to get Mex-Fusion food and drinks. — We had group guac, chips, cheeses, and salsas to start with and I couldn’t shove the great food in my face fast enough. — I had some kind of watermelon, fruity margarita and it was huge and I loved it. — I got a combination platter with an enchilada(with a very chocolaty mole sauce that was OUTOFTHISWORLD), a verde chili burrito with chicken, and a stuffed chili that was pretty damned good by itself. To say I was super full after this meal was an understatement… totally fat, and happy. I had to call an Über Black to find a car big enough to haul my ass to the hotel after this massive lunch feast. We all(party of 8) loved the food. Honestly it was a better meal than the wedding we attended 2 days later… and we didn’t wait long for our table, thanks to the reservation. We had great hosts and servers. And surprisingly the bill wasn’t bad for 8 people to eat and drink and drink. Super impressed!

Met here for my Mermaid sistahs birthday dinner. First off, this restaurant is gorgeous. Views and layout are spectacular. The Cohn family knows what they’re doing in the restaurant business. Just hit the end of happy hour, only ordered one drink, Deb’s coconut margarita. It was very tasty! The other ladies had sangria and it looked yummy too. I was so hungry I think I gorged on the chips and salsa. One of the ladies had the mussels appetizer off the HH menu. It looked good, I didn’t get to try it. Tried one of the calamari from one of the ladies’ meals, it was awesome. I’d come back just for that alone. I ordered the enchiladas de mariscos. Lemme tell you how that was a party in my mouth, the flavors were excellent. They only issue I had is there was a lot of questions sauce in the enchilada. My sistah received birthday flan, now that was another party in my mouth. I’d come back for the flan too. We ordered churros to share amongst 6 women, it was enough after that big meal. I hafta say the churros were a disappointment. The consistency and crispness of the churros was not where I wanted it to be. It came with 3 dipping sauces: caramel, chocolate, and strawberry. The caramel wins it out, hands down. Great experience, hoping to return for another meal, preferably lunch menu.

This restaurant has surpassed any restaurant I have ever been to that has a view! Breathtaking views of downtown San Diego’s skyline! If you are looking to ask a special someone to be your significant other, have relatives from out of town, or just want to spend a night taking in the beauty of San Diego, this is your restaurant! I tried to come here last Saturday but the wait was an hour & a half… I came back on Wednesday night & was fortunate to get seated right away with a window view. However, I highly recommend making a reservation before coming! Great customer service! Chips & Salsa — Complimentary Carne Asada Quesadilla = Served with an Avocado Salad — From the name & description of this entrée, you think that the carne Asada is inside of the quesadilla but it actually comes on the side(lol). Nonetheless, it is still good! It comes with 4 pieces of tortilla. The carne Asada is cut thin & is nicely seasoned & tender. The avocado salad is tasty. Carne Asada = Served with Mexican rice, pinto beans, & an Avocado Salad. This entrée is more expensive that the Carna Asada Quesadilla but I recommend ordering the Quesadilla instead because it is more filling! Coconut Margarita — Hands down, one of the best margaritas I have ever ordered! It is not served in your typical margarita glass but rather a small cup, expensive for $ 12($ 7 during happy hour)! But, it is so delicious, you have to try it at least once! The rim is coated with coconut shreds. Happy Hour is served Monday-Friday 330p-530p!

I really enjoyed this newish and stunning Cohn restaurant! This eatery has been on my list way before they opened, and I’m so glad we dined here for our 40th monthaversary! They are located right next to Island Prime/C Level, so you get the same panoramic view of the skyline and bay if you sit outside. We sat out on the patio even though it was cold, but luckily had a heat lamp right above our heads and were able to keep warm. I initially didn’t want to eat here since we already had tacos the night before, but the menu is innovative and features modern Mexican cuisine. We received complimentary chips and salsa, which were both yummy, but the salsa would’ve been better if it was spicier. Our server asked for our drink orders while we browsed through the menu. I really wanted to try Deb’s coconut margarita and my boyfriend got the strawberry sueno! He said his drink was missing the strawberry flavor, so he decided to get the same drink I got instead. For appetizers, we shared the mussels, calamari, and tableside-made guacamole. The«guacamigo» guy prepared our guacamole customized to our liking. There was a nice variety of add-ons and we opted for extra serrano peppers since we like everything spicy! It was so delicious I couldn’t stop eating it. The mussels were also very good, but the bread that came with it was hard and a little burnt. My boyfriend really liked the calamari, so I let him finish it– the flavor was good and the batter was crunchy, but I prefer big chunks of calamari instead of the rings this dish came with. We were both getting kind of full by the time our entrees arrived, so we paced ourselves. I felt like having meat, so I ordered the corte en fuego, which consists of a blackened 14 ounce Angus new york strip, some corn and kale salad, and ranchero beans with chorizo. He got the carne asada and maine lobster. Both dishes were equally delicious in their own way. I can’t comment on the beans since I don’t like that stuff LOL. His carne was seasoned with spicy flavors, and my steak was also very nicely blackened. It was time for dessert and we got the tres leches and my boyfriend ordered a double espresso. He said his double espresso was more like a single shot and was expecting the the tres leches to be the traditional cake soaked with 3 kinds of milk, but this version also had lemon curd and toasted meringue. It was an interesting combination and we liked it a lot. Service was pretty good for the most part– our server was missing for long periods during each course and a little slow, but she was nice. The atmosphere is amazing and eatery is huge! I saw lounge chairs on the way to the bathroom and another area where you can walk along the harbor. I will definitely take advantage of their happy hour specials next time since we did a lot of damage on our bill and weren’t supposed to spend as much as we did LOL.

Mexican food, elevated. EXCELLENTVIEWS! Did I say excellent views? You immediately feel like you are on vacation when you drive up to this beautiful location. They are nestled right next to Island Prime, but they really got the Lion’s Share of the views. They have floor to ceiling glass windows on two sides and it is stunning. The patio has PLENTY of seating with great shade. PARKING: is free before 430pm with optional valet for only $ 5. THEFOOD was pretty darn good! I can vouch for: ***The CEVICHE! Oh yum!*** ***The Habanero Salsa; SOHOT, and yet so YUM!*** Was good: The guac was good. Not amazing though. BUT good! And I had an enchilada and tamale, also both very good. The ALCOHOL: They have a long list of agave spirits(I think AKA ‘tequila’) and other alcoholic refreshments. I opted for a coconut margarita and it was pretty good. A lot of the dishes are expensive, but you can find something for all wallet sizes. * Come here for the views and some great dishes to share! I am sure if you try it, you will like it.

After our flight was delayed for the second time out of San Diego, we decided to hit up this little eatery that’s almost literally walking distance from the airport. It’s just out of reach for people hauling bags so we hopped in an Über and went to enjoy one last beverage on the bay. It’s such a lovely spot with a selection of cold and tasty beverages, good craft beer on tap, delicious looking appetizers and the option to get a giant jug of margaritas. If we’d had more time, those ‘ritas would be been mine! It’s a little bit of a weird setup where other people can sit on the couches with you. Inevitably, we ended up talking to the folks next to us who were nice… but also a little weird and we wanted some time to decompress. I’d come here again for the food, though it’s a little spendy and definitely for the beautiful view of the sailboats out in the water. It’s a surprising find so close to the airport given most of them are desert wastelands.

Came in here for a drink. The bartender was super cool. We sat there for a bit and offered us chips and salsa but we had already ate at C-Level. We wanted to have some drinks with the awesome backdrop view Coasterra has. It’s very open and the setting is relaxing. They were playing latin music in the background. You can order drinks at Coasterra or C-level and walk around the premises. So we took our drinks to the firepit. There’s a nice long L– bench with pillows around the pit. It’s a very beautiful spot. I can’t wait to go back and have their food! You have to valet to park. $ 7

4.5 stars. This is my second lunch visit, but we sat on patio this time. The complimentary chips did not have the strong corn flavor but were still good – they were thinner and a little bit oily, but still yummy. The salsa could use a little kick though. We ordered the seafood enchilada – which came in a little iron ramekin – the sauce was really thick, creamy, and delicious. and I wish I had some pasta… and crimini mushrooms. My friend ordered the carne asada, which really tasted more like a terriaki steak. The meal did not come with a side of tortillas, so we asked for that and the flour ones were warm and fresh. The service was great, the view is of course unbeatable, and we will come back again!
