Holy shit, 2nd in a row to get my «fish burrito». Fix your damn ordering speakers. About to throw this nasty ass food away.

I absolutely love this place! I love getting their carne asada fries(well done fries) and rolled tacos. Its way better than most taco shops I’ve tried. I love how their carne asada fries has everything on it. I also like the fact that you can order half fries and half nachos which is amazing! Oh and did I mention that their sauce is the best sauce ever! Definitely THE place to go after going out or whenever you’re craving mexican food. They also have TWO drive thru’s which is pretty cool.

This place is the Mexican version of In N Out in that the food is solid and it’s always busy. Really, my stomach always hurts after eating here but everyone should know what they’re getting themselves into. My biggest complaint is that I ordered chips and Salsa and only got the chips. Thats ½ of the order. I really don’t understand how you screw that up… ever. Anyway just double check before you leave Cotixans.

Cotixan’s deserves some recognition for being a reliable source of late-night, quick fixes of good ol’ Mexican eats! I don’t come here enough! Their items are affordable and served in huge portion sizes. My absolute favorite item to get here are their pollo asado fries, which comes with a bed of crispy fries, grilled chicken, a heaping amount of guacamole, sour cream, plentiful handfuls of cheese, and diced tomatoes for about $ 9 with tax included. I’ve also ordered some of their burritos and they are always super filling and amazing with their spicy Cotixan orange sauce. Be careful with sauce… it can get spicy! I especially like this location because they have two windows for those using their drive-thru. This is especially useful when going at night when they experience longer lines. Although I still firmly believe that Rigoberto’s off Miramar Rd has the best pollo asado fries in SD, Cotixan’s comes in a close 2nd.

Needed to pick up something fast for the whole fam. I ordered shredded beef burritos, a burrito al pastor, an order of rolled chicken tacos, a fish taco and horchatas. The rolled chicken tacos were cold. Only 1 of them was warm. I could have come here when he baby was teething and used them as ice packs to soothe her gums. The shredded beef and al pastor burritos were OK. Nothing to brag about. The fish taco was also right between just OK and alright. It was big but a big thing of OK isn’t really all that great and I ended up throwing out ½. The horchatas were less than OK to me but it’s probably because I don’t like too much cinnamon in mine. If you like cinnamon then it will be right up your alley. Overall, I think the food isn’t fresh. It’s barely OK and you’d have to be high to enjoy it. I’m giving it a 2 because I did need something quick and that’s what I got.

Tacos al pastor good, bean burrito good, carne asada burrito needed flavor. Service was fast but the ladies super mean. I won’t come at the time that those ladies are taking orders.

Service is consistently terrible, with the exception of 2 staff members. If you eat here late at night, be prepared to face drunk youngins and the bitchy female servers,(they are always very rude to me, even when I am polite as polite can be). The meat lacks flavor. It really tastes like soy sauce, S&P, maybe a hint of cumin? The fries are always soggy, and they mess up my order consistently. I once ordered a container of carne asada fries and received only ONE container of salsa. The serving sizes change with the seasons– one day it’ll be a hefty amount, and the next, measly. They do make pretty good adobada(spicy pork) fries, but that’s about it. Be sure to ask for your total before you pull up to the window, because they don’t tell you til it’s time to pay and then if they mess up your order, they don’t give a rat’s behind. We have limited options in MM and this shop is closest to my house. Bummer.

Always ask for your total before paying them. I went here for lunch today and placed my order at the drive in. I wasn’t thinking and simply handed my card to the guy at the window without asking what he was charging me. Totally my fault. When he gave me the food, there was way too much food in the bag. At first I thought he was giving me the wrong order and tried to give it back. Turns out he had doubled my order. When I asked the guy what he was giving me, he told me he heard me order two. I told him that I hadn’t ordered two and he insisted I was wrong about my own food order. I asked for a refund for one of the orders and he laughed and repeated that I had ordered two. I told him I understood what he thought he heard but I was asking if I could get a refund for one of them and return the second order and he laughed at me again and repeated that I had ordered two. Quickly seeing that I was getting nowhere with this I asked him how much he had charged me, to which he said«for two.» And laughed again. I clarified and asked how much two of them costed and he responded $ 20. I tried asking for a refund again and he only repeated that I had ordered two. Long story short, don’t do what I did; ask for your total and a summary of your order before paying. Clearly they aren’t interested in accuracy or refunds.

Where’s the love??? I lovvvvvvvvvve their veggie burrito and fish tacos… lol I know not your typical carne asada or california burrito kinda girl but I’ve had a bite of those too and they were bomb. BUT what really makes Cotixan one of my faves is their HABANEROSAUCE. They don’t give it to you unless you ask so make sure you ask for it! That shit is soooo fire, bomb, yum, drool.

this is my go to Mexican food joint. They are open 24 hrs and they serve breakfast all day everyday. I love their breakfast burritos w/ham, no beans. Or with bacon, but no beans. It just makes the burrito too heavy. And my stomach isn’t a fan of beans. I know tmi. The food is hot, fresh And clean. I love that. I go here about once or twice a week. I also order carne asada fries and chips. Big portions, it’s enough to share with 3 others. You know what’s also great is that you can order your chicken with chicken breast or shredded. I like the options. Great place to get Mexican food.

Food deserves a solid 3 for most of the times I’ve been here but the staff is pretty terrible. They’re straightforward which is whatever, but if you ask them for extra sauce, napkins, or anything they get super annoyed at you. One girl even rolled her eyes at me today! & if they mess up on your order, don’t expect an apology. Their carne asada that everyone raves over ain’t that great either, it’s rather dry, actually.

fish. tacos. and infamous red(orange) sauce. best combo ever. $ 3.65? for the fish taco but its huge, and the slaw on top is mouth watering good. would def come back… if it was closer on the freeways :( bf had california burrito, the meat was tasty and flavorful. didn’t expect much, but left so satisfied and content.

Inconsistent. I’ve been here multiple times over the years, ranging mostly from dinner time to late night drunchies, more so out of hunger and convenience than enjoyment for their food. Sometimes I get a good order and I don’t have a single complaint. Other times, the food is noticeably sub-par. Most of the time it’s a safe bet but I’m not going to take my chances anymore. Two drive-thrus and a large parking lot all to itself. There is patio seating, which can get pretty crowded and loud during those peak drunchy hours. For my latest order, I came around 12am and ordered a Carne Asada burrito(picture included) from the drive-thru. Rolled up to pay, and got my burrito all within 60 seconds of pulling up to order. Fast! Unfortunately, it seems that the only reason it was this fast was because the burrito I ordered was most likely already made beforehand and just handed to me after I paid. I didn’t notice this at first but it dawned on me as I was driving away and affirmed when I took my first bite. The Carne Asada burrito was warm to the touch, but not like a usual freshly prepared burrito. Tortilla was flaky and hard, the ends where it folded was chewy and difficult to bite. The carne asada was decently warm but a bit too salty. Guacamole was disappointing and had the consistency of mockamole; runny, pasty, no texture. I gave up ¾ths of the way through.

I am going to do a review update since I was just there. We typically order the same thing most of the time(breakfast burrito or carne asada fries). But I was feeling adventurous so I tried something different yesterday(see my photo) Al Pastor Fries! YAY! I know it’s nothing new to some people but for me it is! LOL I love it!!! Every bite was so good along with their orange sauce(my fav) The meat was flavorful and tender. The only thing missing was a fried egg or some bacon? HAHAH I will probably be taking a break from Vallarta since they do not offer Al Pastor. See you more often Cotixan!!! :)

Oh Cotixan, when I’m drunk and hungry, you’re there for me. You’re quick with the food and you never close. My favorite is al pastor burrito. I’m not sure if they have a vertical rotisserie to make it, but the flavors are on point and makes a great burrito. You can never go wrong with their carne asada fries, or fries with any meats you feel like(maybe al pastor kind of night). I like to get it extra crispy though so the fries dont’ get as soggy. They also serve menudo, so if you need a hangover soup because you didn’t get your hangover preventative burrito or fries, this will help do the trick. I like their orange sauce a lot. It’s spicy but not too spicy. Their green sauce is definitely mild and has more of the chili flavor than spicy. There’s two drive-thrus, and they service both sides equally; so it just depends on which side you come in from the street. If you decide to dine there, there’s a patio area with seats. Weather is usually nice in SD, so you can enjoy the outdoor seating late night. Thanks for preventing many hangovers and satisfying my late night hunger. If there were free carrots, i’d bump it up another star.

Location: Its on the corner on its own. It has a giant sign and a bunch of parking around the center island building. Décor: It looks mostly like a to go place with 2 to go entrances(yes 2!) One on either side of the building. They also have some tables covered by a tarp in front. Food & Drinks: I got the Carne Asada Burrito and for $ 7 I was fairly impressed. I wasn’t expecting a whole lot, but it came with a lot of meat and was very filling for its size. Actually, it was mostly just meat and some good flavors. If they added some fresh veggies to round out the meat I think it would’ve been superb. They also had an okay hot sauce that I would say add good flavors, but not that much heat so its safe for everyone to try :). Happy Burrito stuffing my friends!

This Mexican fast food place is super close to my house. I go here when there’s no food at home or if I’m craving carne asada fries. Their hot sauce is crack sauce. I like going here for the convenience of the drive thru since there’s one on each side. It can be so busy at times that the line for the drive thru stretches out of the parking lot and onto the main street. Other times it’s pretty empty which is great if you’re starving and need food fast. Not bad for a place open 24 hours. Let me start off by saying I ALWAYS customize my order. I usually get carne asada fries with bacon or shrimp or both if I feel like splurging. You can never go wrong with rolled tacos with guacamole either. Another item I like to get is the steak and eggs breakfast burrito with french fries instead of potatoes and add guac and sour cream. They will also deep fry your burrito for a little extra. I’d recommend getting a carne asada burrito with no pico(unless you like pico) and getting it deep fried. Who doesn’t love anything deep fried? I also like the beef flautas here but I wish there was more than 3 for the price. I could probably go on and on but you can’t really go wrong getting even a quesadilla here. It’s a big portion and is totally worth it. On Friday and Saturday nights, don’t be surprised by the long drive thru lines and packed dining patio, being open 24 hours makes this place a popular spot to hit up after a night out drinking. This place may not be on the level of the famous Lolita’s, but it’ll definitely satisfy those evil SD Mexican food cravings.

I have mixed feelings about Cotixan because the food is usually a hit or miss. When I say food, I mean their carne asada fries because that’s all I have ever gotten. The carne asada fries here are called Cotixan fries. It is the ideal drunchie food to grab after a night of clubbing or drinking because it’s opened 24 hours. There are 2 drive-thrus on both sides of the building and also a walk up window to order. Cotixan fries consist of fries, carne asada, guacamole, sour cream, and cheese. Also, don’t forget to ask for sauce. I personally only like red hot sauce. Once I get my fries, I always have to resist the urge to open it right away because the shredded cheese on top needs time to melt. Regardless of how much the quality fluctuates, I still always come back to this place.

The best street tacos! I always get the carnitas taco with a side of rice. This taco is the biggest street taco I’ve ever seen and it it’s the best tasting! This place is small but I just use the drive through. Great food for a great price. I come once a week!

I used to go to this place almost ALLTHETIME. It was perfect, closed late so it always satisfied my hunger when I crave Mexican food. This was by far the best one for me through out the years. Recently, I know this is pretty gross and honestly I am really hesitant to disclose it since all my friends go here all the time but I ordered a pastor california burrito and before biting the second bite, I saw a NAILCLIPPING… It was absolutely DISGUSTING. I threw it out and threw up. Even though i’ve loved Cotixans, I can never go back there. I just get so grossed out thinking about it.
