Cox is the worst place that ever existed! Not only does the service SUCK but they’re constantly over billing. I somehow missed a payment in January and then made 2 $ 100.00 payments then the total bill for my next month and have $ 95.00 in credits. Now this month they want to charge me $ 100.00 more!!! The representative told me my bill would be a lot less this month because of the credits and now they’re pulling this! I live at the beach and I constantly have several channels that don’t work. I have a different technician that comes out almost every week. No-​one knows anything about what’s going on. The representatives are super rude and don’t care about what’s going on. I’m literally calling cox about once a week since nothing ever works. My internet hasn’t worked properly in over 5 years! So, here it is in a nutshell, rude people, nothing works and they overcharge you. The unfortunate thing is they’re the only one’s in my area and I’m staying clear of AT&T (heard bad things about them). I’m not sure what to do but Cox is horrible! My coworkers tell me similar stories about their experience with cox.

God help you if you chose this cable company. Maybe you get lucky and you’ll never have to experience the nightmare problems that my family and I had to go through. After nine attempts over 4 weeks and repeated promises to fix our cable and Internet services here I sit on the tenth call. On this call it took the rep 24 minutes just to find my account. Once she found it none of the prior call notes were documented which happens EVERY TIME. So every time I call I have to explain the entire issue over and over. I have now been on the call for 48 minutes and have just been told what I was told on every call which is that there are different departments who need to coordinate but who are not seeming to talk to each other. I am then told that the other department will contact me. Which they never do and the entire nightmare then repeats itself.
So after being a Cox customer for nineteen years… I am done. I just hung up after being on this call for almost an hour.

I got a promotion card in the mail for internet service at $ 44.99/month. The customer service rep assured me that was an all-​inclusive price… installation, modem, taxes, etc., all included!
So, I ordered service.
Three weeks later, I got a bill for $ 122. = $ 50 installation, $ 7 modem, and $ 72 service.
I’ve already spent an hour on the phone, on two different days, with 4 different people, trying to straighten it out. I’ve talked to 2 supervisors, and am waiting a call back from a 3^rd one.
They tell me the original service rep made a mistake, and that that promo isn’t available in my area. I told them they need to stand behind it, that they can’t sell me something, install it, then demand that I pay 50% more for it each month due to a mistake they admit they made.
They just keep reading me the blabber from their scripted sales manuals, telling me they’ll give me the next best promo for $ 65/​month.
I told them this is fraudulent, bad business, and illegal. They keep reading me scripted answers.
Can not describe how much I hate this company. Unfortunately, they are the only internet provider available in my area.
Will continue to fight with them…

Ive never experienced anything like it. I just spent 1200.00 to get rid of them and use an old fashion antenna. This with Hulu and Netflix is just fine as I never have to use them again.

I’m writing this review for every Cox Unilocal site I can find because they are that bad. Cox is the epitomy of corporate greed and big money business not giving one crap about their customers because they have little to no competition. Their service is beyond terrible.

I had Cox before moving to my new house. I cancelled my cable on April 25 for the last 3 weeks of service. On May 23, I received a letter saying that my account was going to be sent to collections. I was waiting to get paid on the 30^th to send the payment. On May 25 I received 5 calls from Cox. During the last call, a message was left saying that a field officer would be sent to my house to charge me the 3 week bill that was a day late.
I called and paid the bill from the old address. I also cancelled my current service that was on a different account. I paid $ 121 for a 2 week service of a $ 50 internet service.
I don’t want to deal with Cox ever again. We have no cable because Cox has a monopoly where I live, but refuse to pay them one more cent and I’m saving lots of money.

Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice shame on me! This is ridiculous! I VOW to NEVER deal with Cox Communication ever again! I had cable, internet, and phone with them and disconnected cable & internet on 3÷9÷2016! It took several weeks for Cox to port my phone over to my new carrier. In the mean time, I called several time to have boxes sent so I can return the equipment and a guy showed up to my home saying he was coming to pick up the equipment! Needless to say, I started receiving calls from RUI Credit Services to collect on a past due bill from Cox! How am I being sent to an outside collection agency prior to being late 30 days and I still have your equipment? I found out that the original representative did not put notes in my account nor did they disconnect services, which means Cox is now trying to collect on an additional month of services! I was told by Cox representatives that I did not call on the original date of 3÷9÷2016 and they will disconnect services effectively 4÷1÷2016! No one will credit my account to show the actual disconnect date and I asked if I can send them proof I had another company install services at my home! Not good enough for them! Per Cox I could’ve used both services at my home! Really? We are not getting nowhere and their outside collection agency sent me screenshots of activity on the account! When did companies start sending screenshots and not a copy of the last invoice? VERY UNPROFESSIONAL COX! YOU HAVE TO DO BETTER THAN THAT! YOU HAVE LOST ME AS CUSTOMER FOREVER!!!

They don’t even deserve 1 star! They are unethical and shady! They take advantage of the elderly and steal from them. I volunteer for a non-​profit organization that helps the elderly. I was with a 90 year old client that is on a fixed income and she lost her TV service due to the transition to digital. I called Cox for her to see what her options were. I stressed to them that she needed the basic minimum service because of her income status. I tried buying her an antenna but her TV is too old and won’t work with the new digital antennas :(
I spoke to a Cox representative that quoted me $ 14.95/month for the minimum channels they offer plus the small digital box that they require now. Plus the first month was free. I made her confirm it several times that her bill would not be more than $ 14.95/month because that is about all the poor lady could afford. She received the box, I hooked it up and she was in heaven with her new tv service… until she got her bill. Sure they did give her the first month free but it showed that after that her monthly fee would be $ 25.00. I called into Cox and after the typical waiting on hold for several minutes to be transferred and then to be on hold again and transferred again I finally spoke to a person that said «Too Bad». She didn’t doubt that the person quoted me that rate but the person was wrong and they wouldn’t honor it for the poor lady. I argued and and argued with them telling them to pull up the recorded phone conversation but they said there was no need that they believed me but they still wouldn’t honor the monthly rate of $ 14.95. Unfortunately poor Trudy had to have the service disconnected and is now without a television. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT COX IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE POOR ELDERLY PEOPLE BY QUOTING THEM CHEAP RATES ON THE PHONE AND THEN CHARGING THEM DIFFERENT RATES WHEN THEY GET THE BILL. I know exactly what is happening, they put quotas and spiffs on their sales reps so the sales reps tell you anything they can to get you to sign up for service on the phone thinking that you will either just pay the bill when it comes in or at least they already got their monthly bonus so it won’t matter if the person disconnects service. After sharing this story with other people they have had the same thing happen to them from Cox. SHADY! ILLEGAL! IMMORAL! UNETHICAL! I am going to be writing a letter to the Attorney General as well at the Better Business Bureau because Cox needs to be investigated for their fraudulent practices. I myself cut my cable cord with them a year ago and haven’t missed their crap service. I encourage everyone else to do the same.

Good luck trying to disconnect. They will not listen to what you have to say they only want to transfer you from person to person and try to get you to stay with them. The most frustrating experience ever. I just wanted to disconnect. There should be an automatic place on there website to disconnect service it’s infuriating. No more cable!!! Firestick here I come.

Cox Communication is the absolute worst. On Demand services rarely operate we never get to see the end of an On Demand program, we have to reset the cable box and since Cox disabled the fast forward function On Demand programs you have to sit through the program all over again and still you can’t the end of programs. When I contact tech support I am told that company who loads the on demand programs is not doing it right. What the hell? So, they knowingly provide sub-​par service at phenomal prices. We never have all services we pay for working at the same time. If we get the high channels, the low channels will not come in, or the low channels come in and we don’t get the high channels. Once a month a service tech needs to come out.
Since they went digital we can no longer record to our VCR tape or DVD. They rendered all our equipment useless.
Think twice before installing Cox in your home.

I’ve been on hold for over 90 minutes after being transferred to a «retention specialist». This is after we were mislead on a package we were sold earlier in the week. All we are trying to do is upgrade our package and pay you guys more money. When we tried to call back to get clarification we were hung up on after being on hold for over 45 minutes. So frustrating… worst customer service experience ever. I know all the cable companies suck but Cox seems to have no desire to retain customers.

I’ve been a Cox customer for awhile now. I came to this location to return my cable box because I decided to cut my cable. The service was actually fast and easy. Before I entered the building I was greeted right away by a customer service rep. and two police security. They just asked me a few questions, printed my receipt and I was out within 5mins.

Came in today to pick up a free mini-​box. I was very excited to see a bungalow with a huge sign that said «pick up mini-​boxes here». I walked in and was immediately greeted by the customer service rep. There were no lines. I went straight up to the counter gave him my phone number, verified my name and the last four of my social. I was in and out in less than five minutes. Outstanding customer service as always. When they say «mini» they are not kidding. The cables to connect the box weighs more than the box itself. Aesthetically pleasing

Cox can suck my fat dick… these assholes once again just decided to up my monthly bill $ 60 for a total of $ 240 a month for thier shitty service. I have been a loyal customer for almost two decades and this is the kind of shit they pull? I am way over government and business taking advantage of people and politicians who won’t do shit about it, because they get paid off by big bucks…

Cox cable doesn’t even deserve 1 star. Called to cancel service and forwarded to the retention center. Wow, big mistake. Lied to about absolutely everything. The cost (of course), what services I would receive, ease of hook-​up (nightmare).
I spent hours on the phone, hung up on, transferred from one person to another. Each one telling me a different story. Sad that a company is so deceitful and cares so little about the very people that make their company possible. Wake up Cox Cable, your monopoly is slowly eroding. You have just lost yet another loyal customer.

14 years I had 0 problems. This year I had two service techs a month for 6 months all unable to fix my internet connection. They offered me a $ 4 credit for that time.
Cox is great until you have a problem, their techs stink and their customer service is the absolute worst. Took an hour just to schedule a tech. Their loyal department is sassy and rude.
When I finally did call to cancel they tried to entice me to stay by lowering my bill to $ 150! Which was $ 20 more than I was currently paying…

BAIT AND SWITCH ALERT!

It all began on Wednesday March 9^th when I called up Cox to upgrade my cable, as they’ve cut back my channels recently, and have threatened to cut off my service completely unless I upgrade and rent a digital converter box from them. The young woman I spoke with was pleasant — downright friendly and helpful, in fact. She assured me that my rates wouldn’t go up (Lie #1) and I’d still receive all the channels I had had until very recently (Lie #2) before Cox started removing them from my line-​up. I asked about installation and the sales associate told me it’s a «do it yourself» deal. They send the box (or you can go to one of their stores and pick it up) and you just plug it in, easy as pie (Lie #3).
«I talked a 95 year old grandmother through it,» she told me, giggling (Lie #4) as if if we were old chums havin’ a cozy, informal chat. Just shootin’ the breeze with my new best friend in the digital age.
I’d read all the scathing reviews here on Unilocal and I’d been prepared to just cancel my service last Wednesday partially due to all the negative experiences everyone seems to having. But my new best friend was just so pleasant and helpful. And it all sounded so easy. And I wouldn’t be paying any more money or lose any of my favorite channels like CNN, MSNBC, TCM, Discovery, AMC, FX, etc.
«You’ll actually be getting *more* channels,» (Lie #5) she told me gleefully. Oh, goody, goody! Where do I sign up?!
The box arrived via FedEx Friday March 11. I was so excited! I love getting new packages! And all I had to was open up the box and plug it in and I’d be just like a pig in you-​know-​what with my brand new digital box!
2 hours later, after a lot of huffing and puffing and untangling wires and re-​plugging them into various ports and blank screens and testing and upgrading, the damn thing was FINALLY hooked-​up. I needed a glass of wine after all that. Two glasses, in fact. And then I sat down to put on some of my favorite programming… and, guess what? No CNN. No MSNBC. No TCM. No AMC. No Discovery Channel. No TV Land. No nothin’ but a bunch of HSN, QVC, some Spanish speaking networks (I know exactly one phrase in Spanish: «Más cerveza, por favor») and 3 or 4 religious-​themed channels extolling the benefits of accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (Dr. Chilton does enjoy his petty torments…)
Yesterday, Sat. March 12^th, I called back my new friends in the digital age. First call, a young woman answered fairly quickly and I explained to her that I’d been lied to. «Oh, no!» she exclaimed. What to do! «Perhaps I’d better speak directly to a supervisor,» I said as politely as I could. «I’ll transfer you right now,» (Lie #6) she said, sounding relieved. 10 minutes passed, then 15, still on hold listening to the mind-​numbing blare of the litany of Cox services — both for cable and internet; both for home and your business, too!
After 20 minutes of this, I finally hung up the phone in frustration. I called back a second time and a young dude answered the phone. As I began my saga, the phone suddenly disconnected. He hung up on me! I looked at my smart phone (looking decidedly *not smart* at the moment) in stunned disbelief. I called back a THIRD time and got another guy on the phone. I explained to him all of the above, especially emphasizing the being lied to part. And he actually told me that I didn’t, in fact, have the channels that I’d had previously (Lie #7) and that I needed to upgrade my services to get those channels which I did *indeed* have despite his insistence to the contrary.
My final conversation, after being transferred and put — yet again — on hold for nearly 15 minutes, was with a woman I was told would be a supervisor (Lie #8) but was, in fact, yet another sales associate. She told me — in direct contradiction to the previous sales associate’s assertion — that they didn’t *know* what channels I’d previously had (Lie #9) which was why I didn’t get the channels I’d previously had when I upgraded. Oh, right. Makes perfect sense. It was gonna cost more money to upgrade, she said, and being a «longtime customer,» I was entitled to a «special rate.» Yippee! I have no idea what that «special rate» is because I stopped her then and there and said please disconnect my service effective immediately. I’d had enough of this nonsense. It’s the classic bait and switch scam.
We’re still not through because, even though the service has been disconnected, there’s still the matter of returning the box to it’s rightful owner: Cox. I get the «special privilege,» by the way, of paying 20 bucks for them to come pick it up.

I have been having internet issues for MONTHS, I have replaced my cable modem/​router with a COX cable modem/​router, a Cox hired contractor came a few weeks ago and replaced my box at the exterior of my home and all the connections and has verified the cable going from the outside to the interior is working properly, he then left and 15min after that my internet dropped again. I immediately called Cox tech support they stated and I quote «the technician will be calling you back in 15min to come back out today to fix your issue». To date that tech has not called me back.
Since then I called on Thursday and scheduled a appointment for this last Sunday, February 28^th from 10am-​12pm PST. I specifically requested that a Cox technician come and NOT a hired contractor as they could not figure out the issue that is happening. On Friday I got a call from Cox at 5pm asking if they could «come in the next 10min», I explained that I want to keep my Sunday appointment with a Cox technician.
Sunday morning at 12:05pm PST I had not received a phone call and a technician did not come to my home. I called Cox and the support representative told me and I quote «they attempted to call you at 10:30am and CANCELLED YOUR APPOINTMENT». Of course I was extremely frustrated because I did not receive a phone call AND how can they just unilaterally cancel my appointment that I confirmed! She then transferred me to a supervisor who had a completely different story. He stated that «No one attempted to call me, their offices figured out that the technician that was coming to my home was not prepared for what I needed so they cancelled the appointment.» Of course I was irate they wasted my day in which I lost wages for working explained this to him and that I needed someone to come to my home. He stated that would not be possible and they would have to come another day. He then gave me his word that he «would be calling me between 830am and 930am Monday morning» and right before we hung up he stated that «the department that cancelled your appointment scheduled someone to come at 8am-​10am Monday morning (today). Even more frustrated I asked «How can they unilaterally cancel my appointment and schedule a brand new appointment without discussing this with me.» His response was «they seem to have found an issue and maybe they are having a tech go to the box at the street and they may not need to access the interior of your home.» I asked him to please make notes in the account to have them come to my home after they complete whatever it is that they are doing to see if the problem would be corrected (my internet goes down every 15minutes on the dot). He stated that he would and again gave me his word that he would not only be calling me Monday morning but he will personally be in touch with me until the problem is fixed.
Now its Monday morning I get a phone call from someone I have never spoken to at 830am PST. They stated that the technician will be at my home at 940am PST and that she will now be my contact and will be calling me in 1 hour to confirm the technician arrived and that they are able to assist with the issue. I asked her to confirm that the technician that will be arriving will be a Cox technician and NOT a hired contractor. She then told me that the request is in BUT she cannot guarantee anything.
NOW its 940am PST, I get another phone call from someone I have never spoken to a Cox and they tell me that the technician will be arriving at 10:15am PST (15min late for the «Appointment»).
1015am PST, I get a phone call from the customer service lady that called me at 830am PST. I explained that the technician just arrived. She stated «I am going on my lunch now I will call you in 1 hour.»
The technician that arrived was NOT a Cox technician but instead a basic Contracted technician AGAIN! He spent 30min at my home, saw the internet issue but cannot figure out why the internet is dropping and a higher level technician needs to come and check the street and run more tests.
It is now 150pm PST. No call back from the Cox representative that went to lunch and would be calling me at 1115am PST.
I now WASTED my Sunday and Monday for NO REASON and on top of that NO ONE at Cox can follow through on their word and help a paying customer!!!
I am on a very high internet plan of $ 80 a month and this problem has been happening for MONTHS with no resolve.
I am requesting that you put someone HIGH UP in charge of my account that YOU can trust to follow up and get the right people out to my home to correct this issue.
I don’t want a credit, I don’t care about a credit. All I want is my internet to work so I can work at home, spend more time with my kids and for Gods sake, if they want to watch Netflix I would love for them to do it without the internet stopping every 15min! My son is 3 years old and when the TV stops EVEN HE KNOWS that the internet went down! This is ridiculous, absurd and the worst customer service I can remember ever experiencin

If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. Cox needs to majorly improve their customer service based on these multiple dismal ratings.
In short: I moved to La Mesa and searched for the best deal I could find on internet. I came across an offer for Cox Première Internet service for $ 37/​month, introductory rate, for 12 months. I placed the order, received a call from Cox, and everything was set up and seemed fine. Over the phone AND in the store, they had verbally confirmed the monthly rate/​offer I had selected.
My first bill arrived and it was for $ 59.99. I called, I was very polite, thinking it was a simple mistake or system error. They refunded the difference for that month but couldn’t change the monthly billing themselves; that had to be «corporate,» so they supposedly submitted a form. This month, same overcharge: $ 59.99, NOT the $ 37 that I was offered and which had been verified by at least 2 Cox agents. I called AGAIN, was very polite AGAIN, was told AGAIN that they’d refund the difference this time and submit another form to «corporate,» since apparently they can’t change anything locally. I waited 2 days for it to process (the 1^st time it happened instantly), went to pay my bill online today, and it still said $ 59.99.
I called AGAIN, and was on the phone for over an HOUR, most of it on hold in between the agent talking to me for ~30 seconds and then having to go check things. This time as they gave me the runaround and tried to tell me that deal never existed (I have the original e-​mail confirmations, which I’ve sent to them previously, as well as copied & pasted the terms & conditions the very day I placed the order), I got increasingly irritated. No, okay, I got really mad. I can’t remember a time I’ve been this mad with a company.
Finally, after an HOUR, I asked to speak to the supervisor. The supervisor had much better customer service skills, and said he would do all he could. The one-​time refund he promised (and said was already put in) still hasn’t shown up on my account, and the monthly charge issue has not yet been resolved, because «corporate» denied the «form» they submitted. I asked for «corporate’s» number and was told that even they don’t have corporate’s contact info. WOW. While I appreciate the supervisor’s effort, I have no reason to trust this company yet– I’ll believe it when I see it. Once I see the change on my monthly charge, I’ll update this review. At this point, after multiple calls and hours wasted, I’m not holding my breath. If it’s not resolved by next month, I’m bouncing and heading to greener pastures.
