Del Taco

Food poisoning. So we got the 2 for $ 5 veggie burritos (girlfriend is 4 months pregnant and won’t eat certain things for fear of food poisoning) because we figured they’d be safe to eat, since there’s no risk of undercooked meat. Well, she ends up with food poisoning. I actually didn’t eat that night because soon as I went to eat (a while after she finished) I found a pubic hair in my food (maybe it was an armpit hair, had to be one or the other). What is up with this place? Food poisoning is really unsafe for pregnant woman so please, if you’re pregnant, or just want to avoid getting violently ill, don’t eat here.

Used to be sooo good. Food /​quality sucks now at this location. We were so excited to have our friends try it but what a disappointment! We’re embarrassed we were ranting on about the burritos!

When the day comes that you sell breakfast tacos the size of a cassette tape, its time to stop selling breakfast tacos. Seriously, stop. You have other items that are not such a joke. Yeah I said cassette tape.

Great late night spot. 24 hour drive thru and 24 hour walk up. It’s Del Taco don’t expect gourmet but it is the best bang for your buck for late night eats.

I wish I could give this no stars because this place is so awful. Didn’t get my order right at all. Took for ever too. Get it together. How hard is it to look at a computer screen and put together an order. Idiots.

I went through drive-​thru and they take forever sometimes, I really like the one on National City in front of the Navy del taco, it’s the best deal taco.

This was the most disgusting meal ever. The fries were cold and stale. Probably made this morning if not left over from yesterday. The chicken burrito had little to no chicken and what was in there was mush. The beans were not fully cooks. Half the food wasn’t even edible or at least it was questionable.
I will never return to this location nor would I recommend it to my friends.

The bad:
Winos, hobos and the like have a tendency to lie in the little grass patch by the drive thru entrance which has been discolored from the puppys who make water there. The drive thru itself is often littered with glass so I would not opt actually to drive through here. I did see a woman in an electric wheelchair once so if you have those kind of tires on your ride [run flat I guess] you might be ok.
The good:

Why is it every time I come here, even through the drive-​thru, I am bombarded by homeless people bothering me for money, they come right up to my car at the drive-​thru while I’m waiting on my order! It would be nice to see the management take notice of this nuisance, and help paying customers feel safer here. I feel unsafe at this location.

My experience At del taco was awesome!
I have never gone through a drive thru at 1am where I have come across an employee so kind, attentive, quick and personable as Alex!!! Alexander, at this downtown location across from city college, gave 5 Star service!
Even though it was a drive through at a fast food chain, he made me feel like I was dining at a 5 star restaurAnt!
Del taco is lucky to have an employee like Alex!

Del Taco never let’s me down. Even at 3am they have hot fresh & crispy cheesecake bites for me to gobble up without remorse.
The chicken soft tacos are a winning bet as well as their crispy crinkly french fries which are always served up nice and hot.
Beware though faint of heart! The mild sauce is still pretty hot but if you want to take a chance on something even spicier you can ask for some Del Scorcho sauce. The employers are always friendly and accommodating regardless of the time of day or night.
Caveat: beware of the bums running around your car!

Tonight I didn’t know I could feel this way, the way you feel when you realize you’ve been missing things in life. Things… like a fiesta pack… at 1am… on a Thursday. And here is a poem we wrote about our downtown Del Taco experience.
Tonight we wanted some food, we went to J in the B but no pedestrians in the drive-​thru said some dude.
We walked 50 more feet north, we saw a sign of tacos so we walked forth.
Went to the window there was an angel with a headset, her name was Carolin, the sweetest shift leader we have ever met.
We ordered 2 fiesta packs and 2 ice teas, enough food we thought to please.
So now we sit our belly full of food, so happy, satisfied and in such a good mood.

It doesn’t happen often, but I’d say that once or twice a year I make my way down the hill to visit Taco Bell’s dirty little cousin, Del Taco. Last weekend I hit the bottle a little bit too hard and the only thing to kick that silly hangover was a few tacos and a big ol’ Sprite from Del Taco — funny how these cravings kick in.
Lettuce, lettuce and more lettuce. Seriously, half the tacos were 80% lettuce, 5% additional fillings/​toppings and 15% shell. The other half were pretty well prepared, put together just right and totally served their purpose as an alcohol sponge.
DT’s hot sauce is, well, just kinda blah, but they don’t skimp and will fill your bag with a hefty handful when you simply say «lots.»
Will Del Taco ever be a 5-​star? Probably not, but I’d have no problem bumping them up to a 4-​star if they could lay off the lettuce a little bit.

Mayra is the best! She is so helpful and always smiles, she is my favorite employee to help with my order. I come here with my boyfriend and sometimes by myself a few times a week. My favorite things to order is the BRC for only 0.85 and the bean cup with fries cheese, beans and special sauce. The prices are great here and the food is tasty.

My fave location cos maybe we come here after a late night in downtown. ;)
The food tastes good, as always. Love that they leave a basket of their sauce on the tables so that I don’t hafta keep asking them for more.
When you ask for more sauce at the drive thru, they don’t just give you one. They give you a handful most of the time.

You know what you’re getting into when you drive up to a Del Taco, so I don’t understand the negative reviews — Psh. Don’t hate.
Del Taco is one of my childhood favorites. My go to orders are: chicken soft tacos, double del bacon cheeseburger, nacho cheese fries with jalapenos, deluxe chili cheese fries, and sometimes the chicken burrito too. I gotta say, for the plain, hard-​shell tacos, I prefer Taco Bell (sorry).

Quick review for a fast food without a whole story this time. This ended up as the alternative to McDonald when I went on my way back in morning.
There is a sort of a walk-​in instead of drive-​in window. Cool, I can use that.
The service was OK for a fast food and both the food and (hot)sauce tasteless as I would’ve expected. That being said, for two dollars at 1AM, what else can I expect?

Del taco — you love it or you go to the other chain!
It’s close to my corporate apartment in SD — so i’m tickled pink.
Yeah, it’s fast food, and i think they did a great job on my meal.
Definitely a sketchy area, and i probably wouldn’t go at night, alone, but i’m happy it’s so close and yummy!
