Thank you to the sweet man opening the restaurant for the day. I was paying the meter for my parking and literally dumped my coin purse all over the ground and he came right up and helped me pick it ALL up. Very very kind I appreciate you!

We showed up with family from out of town and our dog to use our Groupon the day after Christmas and they were closed. CLOSED(like shut down) with a citation from the liquor board. Seems this occurred on 12⁄22 yet they are still selling Groupons online. :(

I tried to use a Groupon… was informed that this was their last day in business, so they wouldn’t accept it. Good luck to Jim, and so long to the bottomless mimosas.

This is feedback for you, Groupon! You should have notified buyers of this Groupon that this restaurant/bar is closing — today! How ironic we showed up their last business day and what would have happened if we didn’t have the money to pay the unexpected bill? As far as service and good — fantastic! I hope Jim the server lands in his feet somewhere and the short order cook also — very tasty breakfast we had!

Albert Lewis: Chris, «here» is big enough for everyone to have their own private universe. Thought is real. Physical is the illusion. Ironic, huh? Richard Matheson. My first impression walking in was pure giddy, excitement as I walked around the outdoor seating area, discovering a dog play area and a dog seating area next to your table! The menu includes items for your dog; Angus beef or chicken breast burger, scrambled eggs or a quarter pound hot dog. What more could a dog owner ask for? My burger was flavorful and really huge! It included bacon, blue cheese and caramelized onions with a side of fries. My only small concern was part of my bun and a small portion of my burger was a bit too charred. But it tasted so good I just ate it anyways. Second visit with BF and dog Bear, had to try out the breakfast menu. Delicious iced tea, fresh fruit and lovely combination of cheeses, potatoes, avocado, peppers and chorizo within a toasted burrito. Nice view pared with good weather made for a very pleasant experience.

Voice of Daigoro: When we’re on a mission, I keep count of how many ninja my father kills. He says not to keep count, only to pray for their souls. But if I don’t keep count, I don’t know how many souls to pray for. So I keep count. So far it’s three hundred and forty-two. [three ninja women ambush Lone Wolf. He swiftly kills them] Voice of Daigoro: Three hundred and forty… five. Kazou Koike — Shogun Assassin 8. Number 8 was the one on the table. I smashed him with the Reader. The Reader is an excellent fly killing weapon as I can easily rip off the page with the fly guts so I don’t spread the guts everywhere as I try to smash more flies. Number 7 was the one I split in half on the chair. The ones on the chair are much harder to kill as the hit has to be spot on. 4 was the toughest kill. Number 4 was smashed between the Reader and the table and landed on the ground still twitching. I stomped on him with my shoe to finish him off. Next time I come here I think I’ll bring my salt gun. The kills are less messy. Place is very dog friendly. Off leash area is in the back past the patio. The shaded patio area is a nice spot to eat lunch but beware the flies. I tried the salt and pepper wings. Wings are fried naked and look like Hooters wings. Skin is crunchy and meat is juicy. Flavor is light but good. Next I ordered the burger with bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Looked like they also included some ham. Ham was very salty. Bun was toasted and part of it was a bit burnt. Beef patty was well done and parts a bit burnt. Bacon had pretty good flavor but the tips were burnt. Removing the burnt areas the burger had very good flavor. Not as flavorful as Hodad’s though. French fries looked like your standard fast food fry but flavor was excellent. No oily aftertaste. Just a clean potato flavor. I visited a second time for the weekend brunch. I ordered the steak and eggs. Filet mignon was tender and had pretty good flavor. Scrambled eggs were fluffy and had pretty good flavor. Potatos had a nice crunchy exterior and soft insides with very good flavor. I brought my salt gun and waited patiently gun at the ready for the flies to land. As they landed I moved in close smoothly and silently. I held my breath and squeezed the trigger. I left a trail of salt and dead flies in my wake.

I saw a Groupon for this place and said why not give it a try. I came for Sunday brunch with my girlfriend and unfortunately wasn’t too impressed. We started with our drink orders and we just asked for a couple glasses of Orange Juice and they started out by only bringing one. At least we thought they were going to bring the other one right away. My girlfriend tried hers and did not enjoy it, It was far from fresh and I didn’t mind them not ever bringing me mine. For breakfast I got the Country Benedict and thought it was decently good. There were a mound of potatoes with it as well. The huge con: The waiter we had was very kind and nice but about 15 feet from us on the back patio he was smoking a cigarette which we had to smell. Also, when he put the cigarette out he went inside and then came back out with our food. I sure hope he washed his hands in between that time.

DON’T GO!!! HORRIBLEEXPERIENCE!!! I would give it a negative star if I could… I had been wanting to go to DogHouse Bar and Grill for months. Mostly because I love my dogs and I love that finally there is a place with an off-leash area for the pooches. So, I invited my sister, her husband and their 2 dogs along with my fiancé and our two dogs. We arrive at the spot and were a little taken aback at first because it felt like a gloomy, dirty, dive bar. Don’t get me wrong, I love me a good dive bar but I had envisioned something else, maybe from the pictures. We then head to the back and find that we cannot use the off-leash dog area(which was the main reason for coming here) because there is a dog birthday party taking place. A little disappointed, we hang by the tables and wait for someone, anyone, to greet us. At least 5 minutes or longer of just standing there with 4 dogs in tow we ask the server if we can be seated and we take a nice little spot in the shade. After some time to review the menu the server takes our order. He then proceeds to come back 10 minutes later and ask what we ordered again. About 30 minutes in or so the server tells us that our food is on the grill. However, 10 minutes after that, he tells my fiancé that they don’t have what he ordered(even though he just told us our food was on the grill) and that he needs to pick some else. And, we ordered scrambled eggs for the dogs — how is it possible that the eggs are not ready and it has been about 40 minutes at this point? We then wait another 15 minutes and still don’t have our food which was supposedly on the grill. We see countless tables around us receiving their food and they arrived after us. The server tells us that the«chef» messed up and made someone’s food ahead of us. Now that we are ONEHOUR in, and still no food(not only is everyone starving, my pregnant sister is starting to «hangry» for good reasons) we pull the server over and say«it has been at least an hour since we sat down and still no sight of any food. I think we are going to leave.» He had the audacity to respond with, «yeah, I was going to suggest you just leave.» This was by far the WORST experience I have ever experienced at a restaurant. The appropriate response from the server should have been apologetic and he should have possibly even offered to comp something at this point. I have some major concerns about how this company is run and can guarantee you that I will never be back. I have told almost everyone I know about this horrible experience, so that they don’t make the mistake of going.

I just left the DogHouse and absolutely loved it. It wasn’t all that busy for a Saturday afternoon which was great as my dog isn’t always the best behaved when there is a lot of commotion in the area. I didn’t use the«off-leash» area simply because I want my dog to lay by my side when we are out and not roam around; however, the concept is pretty cool and those using that area seemed to enjoy it. The food was delicious. I had the egg and bacon stack which was tasty and priced right. I’ll come here again for sure. ** Sorry to our waiter… my dog is the one that decided to start barking at you as we were leaving.

4 stars for Chad who helped us out and the yummy food! Came here on a Friday night for my best friends dogs bday dinner and it was nice seeing all the dogs being able to walk around and hang out while their owners eat/grab a drink. When we came it was confusing since it was our first time. No one greeted us and took us to a table, we pretty much had to find our own table and grab our own water. There was only two servers who were also bartenders as well. I feel like for a Friday there should be 4 – 5 people to speed things up. We literally had to wait 20 min to order 20 min to get our food and 20 min just to get our check and a to go box): booooo… But Chad was so nice he really tried his best to help us out! Much appreciated!!! I got the bleu burger and my friend got the slow cooked Reuben and it was yummy! I really like their tots and chili! Very seasoned and ready to eat! My daughter even had a bite of chili and she liked it! My burger was juicy and yummy as well and it came with a side of fries. I would pick the tots over the fries here. I wish there was more lighting for the outside/dog patio. I feel like it was getting darker and darker and lighting was very limited. Other than that. Maybe I would come back her for another little pals birthday brunch/dinner(:

I came here because I had a groupon and it was my dogs birthday. When you first enter its a bar and then there’s a door that leads you to the dinner section. It’s not clear as to if you seat yourself so I just stood around until other people told me to just sit down and find a spot. They were super understaffed due to a meet and greet event. First the kitchen guy came out to greet us(very kind man). We asked for the heat lamps to be turned on but only one works! The other one is broken. Second guy to come give us menus was the bartender! A bartender should never leave his station, especially since no one was in the front of the house. 3rd guy to come was the waiter. All of them were extremely friendly. I love how they have a dog menu! I ordered chicken for my dog. Although I didn’t appreciate somebody’s dog coming to my dogs bowl and stealing his food. I kept yelling at the dog and pushing it away and the owner just watched! RUDE. Low class meet and greet if you ask me. They didn’t even watch their dogs at all! I hated watching some dogs go poo and they didn’t even pick it up. I feel so bad for the workers who have to deal with customers like this. If you plan on bringing your dog, you should always keep an eye out for them. To ignore your dog is bad manners. The ambiance outside could use more lights, it was very dark and only a section was lit up. I recommend hanging lights along the borders of the fence or at least cover the people eating with lights. The food wasn’t bad and I actually enjoyed it, especially the tater tot chili cheese. I would come back here when it’s not too pact, because I might end up strangling/spanking somebody’s untrained dog!

Found this place through Groupon. The restaurant is pet friendly and has an outdoor patio. We stopped here for brunch and ordered a breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich. Our server was Chad who was very attentive and fast, though we were the only ones there at the time. The prices are very reasonable and the food was delicious. Chad mentioned most of the food is made from scratch. They also have a wide selection of drink specials. If you’re in the neighborhood I would recommend you stop by. Next time I’m in San Diego, I will definitely visit Doghouse again.

This place calls itself doghouse bar and grill but the patio for the dogs is a huge disappointment. The small grassy area is gone and in its place is a pit of rocks. The patio looks like an afterthought. On the day we went, there was a yoga class going on so dogs weren’t even allowed to the dog leash free patio. Food is average. We had the pork machaca and the soooo meaty dish. I don’t think you can mess up breakfast items. Quantity of food is good. Price is fair. Use a groupon to make it a great value.

The DogHouse Bar and Grill gives new meaning to «dog-friendly.» The outdoor seating area has dog-leash hooks at every table and a fenced in seating area, which includes a dog run, where dogs can play off-leash. When we arrived, a sweet husky was watching from the off-leash area, waiting hopefully for some friends. It was clear that dogs know immediately that this is their spot. There’s also a dog menu, which includes chicken, hamburger, and eggs. The schnauzer mix at the table next to us had a bowl of chicken brought to the table in his own dog dish. And the servers hand out dog treats. The other half of the DogHouse Bar and Grill is a dive bar, so you would not really have high expectations for the food. The couple behind us, who arrived without a dog apparently looking more for the dive bar experience, exclaimed, «Wow, you wouldn’t expect that to come out of this place,» when their burgers arrived. Everyone in the restaurant when we were there ordered the burger, which was surprisingly gourmet and stylishly plated. Service is extremely friendly. And, as you would expect of dog people, the other diners are also very friendly. I loved what seems to be the DogHouse’s policy of unlimited refills. The server even gave me a third refill(without me asking) after he had taken my plate away. The DogHouse seems pretty new – I hope word gets out and I hope we see more places like this in other cities!

This place is kind of strange and sad, and I feel bad saying that – it’s like kicking someone when they are already down. The only reason to come here is because there is a small off-leash dog area in the back. However, the area isn’t that nice. There’s some random stuff there, like it’s a storage area. You can sit inside the dog area at a table and eat. But really think about that – eating food with random dogs roaming around? Is that a good idea? The whole time consisted of other people’s dogs coming over to us and getting in our space, looking for food. Then the owners would hustle over, «sorry!» and drag their dogs away, or yell at their dog to leave us alone. Also, dogs get aggressive when it comes to food. We ordered a little sausage/hot dog treat for our dog. When I was giving it to her, another dog came over, wanting some. Of course my dog didn’t like that. So, I don’t really knock the DogHouse for the concept, but in reality, it doesn’t seem to work so well unless you have a perfectly behaved dog and all the other dogs are behaved, too. On to the food. They have a small menu, with burgers, hot dogs, flatbread, wings, and chili, and only a few variations on those items.(There was no pulled pork or nachos as some other reviewers mentioned. Maybe they changed the menu?) There is a special for each day of the week and today’s was wings. My eating partner got those wings(buffalo flavor) and said they were good/ok. That is the only reason this review is not 1 star. I couldn’t decide, so I got chili with tater tots, which I regretted. It was what you would expect – a pile of tots covered in chili topped with a solid layer of cheese. I peeled off the cheese and hated myself as I ate some of the chili and tots. ew. The menu is definitely stereotypical bar food. The outdoor chairs looked like chairs you’d see at a senior’s bingo game or a banquet hall. They were a little rusty and an odd choice. It was a bit run down, not the happy and fun place I imagined. A drunk old lady wouldn’t stop talking to us. There was a trivia game going on inside with just a few people participating. I will not come back here. I thought maybe the neat dog area would offset mediocre food, but the dog area is weird and the food is not good. I wish they’d spruce things up – with how dog-friendly SD is, this could be a lot better. **They will give you 20% off your bill if you write a 5-star review and show it to them. Super shady. That has to be the reason for the 5-star reviews for this place. There’s no other explanation.

Came here with my girlfriend on a Groupon deal. The $ 15 for $ 30 deal and the service from Armando were the only two good things that came from this visit. This place is the epitome of a bar that would appear on Bar Rescue. There’s no apparent theme other than them allowing dogs in their establishment. There’s a jukebox and a pool table and a fishbowl of condoms next to the bathroom, classy, right?! The«soap» in the bathrooms are an extremely diluted version of soap in a Germ-X bottle. I can’t make this shit up. The menu is typical bar food, but not worth the price. I got«The Standard with cheese,» a greasy 1/3lb cheeseburger on a pretzel bun that fell apart shortly after cutting it in half. My girlfriend got their vegetarian«burger» that might have been tainted with some meat as she got stomach pains shortly after finishing our meal. Also, not sure how to feel about having an actual dog menu alongside regular human food. The majority of the patrons were employees that were either off or waiting to begin their shift. They all had a drink in front of them, not the best look coming from a patron. The«bartender» that was finishing their shift before Armando walked out of the kitchen was buttoning up his shirt, not the most appetizing thing to watch as I ate my burger. It seems like this place is struggling, which threw me off as the Unilocal!reviews say something different. But after finding out that they give you 20% off your order for a «5 Star» review, I can see why there’s a difference. A tip to management: it’d be nice not to see your cooks smoking right in front of the restaurant before going back to cook my food. And having your employees drink in front of the patrons isn’t a good look as well. Won’t be back.

As my time in San Diego is winding down, I am making every effort to meet up with my close friends while trying out restaurant’s that i’ve been eyeing. That said, I wanted to try out DogHouse solely for it’s off-lease section in the back. We got here super early on a Sunday(10am) and drove around b/c it said«private lot available» on Unilocal, but we could’nt find one. You have to walk through the bar in the front to get to the patio and I absolutely loved the set up of the place. However, the metal bars in the fence was too wide and my 10lb yorkiepoo just kept running out. This was a bit stressful for me but the waiter was very nice and helped us get coco back a few times. All in all, I love the concept but would be better if they mesh up the fence for smaller dogs. The service was great. I had my eyes set on the burger, but was told that lunch isn’t served til 11am. This is totally fine, so we each got a glass of OJ ordered the jalapeño poppers bc they were ½ off with a facebook check-in $ 4. My friend ordered the Pork Machaca and i took the waiter’s suggestion and ordered the $ 12 Country Style Benny. And finally, we ordered the $ 6 chicken breast for Prince Coco, my dog. The poppers were a huge hit! However, the entrees were not that great. The gravy on my benny did not taste anything special. I tried my friend’s Machaca, and the meat was bland. But it is worth mentioning that the potatoes on our dishes were amazing. So all in all, this place was just A-Ok.

My friend and I came here to check out the food since I found a deal here. The atmosphere is more of a local dive bar that is very welcoming. Our server, Guy, was very friendly and helpful. Notes: 1. They have food specials everyday! Awesome! 2. They even have a dog menu! Deliciously adorable! Onto the food: Shredded Pork Nachos: Tender and juicy pork on top of tortilla chips and melted cheese topped with fresh jalapeños, pico de gallo(chopped red onion, cilantro, and tomato), and a dollop of sour cream. The pork could have used more flavor to spice up the dish a bit. I was happy with how tender and juicy it was but these nachos needed a little TLC because it was missing some flavor. Maybe garlic salt? Rebel Yell Burger: A pretty large burger where the patty was made a juicy medium to order with a nice grilled flavor to it. The bun was a nice brown color and was tasty and had a nice texture to it(from the more firm outside texture to the soft fluffy insides). There were nice touches to the burger from the other toppings in the burger: the light BBQ flavor, juicy and tender shredded pork, sliced iceberg lettuce, sliced tomatoes, sliced red onion, and melted cheddar cheese. The tater tots were golden brown and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The quarter of a pickle was tangy and salty which was a nice complement to the savory burger. Overall, I think I’ll be back again for amazing service, relaxed atmosphere, and pretty good food. I wouldn’t recommend the nachos, but the burger was pretty darn tasty and filling! I would be more apt to come back if I had a dog, but what entices me are the daily specials. I would definitely want to try those!

The idea of this whole place is really cute and since I love canine friends, I was naturally attracted to this place. We went on trivia night so some people were playing the game on their phones. We ordered flatbread, wings and pulled pork fries. To be honest the flatbread and fries were bland and lacked a lot of flavor. I don’t recommend those, i hope they get better. The wings however, were amazing! So just get 3 orders of those instead. I got the Angry Orchard hard apple cider which was amazing! The next day we went and got a whole case of those, thanks for introducing them to us Mr. Waiter! We got to play with the cute Australian Shepherd from the table next door that kept insisting that we give her all the attention in the world :). When we came there was only around 2 waiters and probably 3 workers total working as the waiters, hosts, bartenders. Man they were busy and they forgot our plates and drinks a few times. However they were super nice and friendly so I forgive them. I would come back here… hopefully next time I’ll actually have a dog of my own to bring. And i hope their food improves and they get more staffs. Otherwise I love the vibe and the restaurant as a whole
