Love this place and atmosphere. Great for dinner or a date. Chris the executive chef is amazing. Has won multiple awards and the food is delicious! Highly highly recommended.

Best dinner in San Diego(hands down) Chef Chris is unbelievable! So friendly, generous, passionate, and clearly extremely talented! Must try the handmade tortellini! It is to die for. So much so we ordered it twice, on the same night. Our waiter was also such a kind, patient, helpful person. In brief, we loved it and would go there again, and again, and again.

Amazing food. My fiancé and I stopped in for an early dinner and stumbled upon the restaurant. The décor is very interesting. However the food is amazing. We had the gnocchi which was to die for and a pizza. The service was great. I would visit more often, however I think it is ridiculously expensive.

Double Standard is one of our most favorite spots in San Diego! The ambience is amazing and the food is perfection. Everything is so fresh and the menu is always changing with the seasons. We have tried almost everything on the menu and everything is divine. The chefs are so incredibly talented and really know what they are doing. The staff is extremely friendly and always go above our expectations. Our favorite menu items: Farmers Salad Mushroom Toast(All I have to say is WOW) All of the pizzas are delicious! Pappardelle Mussels(I don’t even like mussels but these are incredible) Waygu Ribeye You must order dessert. We aren’t dessert people at all but every thing we have had has been so delicious.

Really, the best meal my wife and I have had in 2016, and we dine out A LOT. Amanda and other servers here are extremely professional, well versed on the food and drink menu and eager to help you navigate through the well thought out list. Great ambiance, service, food, and great wines. Chef Chris is on the cutting edge of San Diego cuisine and is sure to leave his mark on this fine city. He even came out to thank us for our patronage. Goes a long way. Adrian, the GM, was very professional and made my wife’s and my anniversary dinner extremely memorable. We will be back.

Such a cool place! We walked in off the street early, around 5pm and got a table. Bartender’s choice for my mocktail was delicious, a cucumber gin mule sans the gin. Waiter gave my husband a great beer recommendation. Started with the Burrata Bruschetta on the cutest little plate, it looked like a slice of an old tree. The cheese was fresh, the balsamic glaze was to die for, and the tomatoes were as juicy as they were colorful. I had the tortellini with oyster mushrooms, ricotta, and truffle sauce. I wanted to lick the plate but it was a nice place… Covered in basil flowers and a nice basil oil gave the flavor lots of depth. Husband had halibut that he declared perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside and moist inside. It was BEAUTIFUL. The peas looked fake, they sat there perfectly in their pod with just a little char. Same for the carrots, his whole plate was art. We finished with cinnamon sugar dusted donuts served with vanilla gelato, espresso mascarpone, and lemon curd. Shut up. Excellent service. A great end to our vacation!!!

I have been to many places throughout San Diego and I must say– this place is absolutely incredible. I was so excited to watch its progress prior to opening day. It’s new. It’s unique. It’s a place of variety. Cheers to Adrian & Jay — you two made the night. Come check it out

From the moment I walked in, I fell in love with this place. After friends RAVED about the food and the service they had the night before, we decided to head there for lunch, post half marathon! As a Celiac, dining out is not usually seamless or worry free but from the moment the General Manager introduced himself, this experience was different than any other I have ever had. The food is unbelievable, features local ingredients and the creativity of the phenomenal executive chef, who also stopped out to visit our table. My diet restrictions were taken very seriously, the staff were extremely knowledgeable about their menu items(even though the whole menu changes DAILY) and they did not seem out off by my issues like many restaurants do. In fact, they took great care to make sure I did not feel different for asking for accommodations in preparation. I can’t say enough good things about this experience and I know we will be back VERY soon!

I wish I could give them more stars. The food was out of this world. When was the last time you raved about broccolini and Brussels sprouts?! You will after you eat here. Then there’s the staff. They are beyond nice. I am coming back to San Diego just to eat here. #NoJoke

Well what a pleasant surprise this place was to us Friday. I got on my phone with my Unilocal app and looked a a decent place for dinner. And yes I found one! This place is amazing. Stephanie our server was outstanding. She was very well informed of the menu and wine list and offered suggestions to our liking. Get this, The head chef is a 26 year old«kid» I call him a kid, because he is to me at my age. What a talent he is! One of the best meals of my life. I had the tortellini and mushrooms and it was off the charts. My hat goes off to the chef. We’ll be coming back here on our next visit, hopefully soon. One of the best dining experiences ever. The place is chic, retro, and cozy all wrapped up into a fun comfortable dining room. From the big turquoise colored sofas, to the subway tile and the funky lighting. We just loved it here.

OBSESSED with this little spot. The décor and vibe is so on point. Love love love. Our bartender, Hagan, put up with us being buzzed and annoying and was such a good sport. He made us some killer shots and we had a great time. Definitely will be back for an actual meal!

Amazing food! If nothing else, come for drinks & appetizers! Try the mussels and bruschetta. The wine selection is fitting for the food. And the environment is open-perfect for beautiful days where you can dine in and still feel & experience the downtown atmosphere. I’m sure all the servers are great, but Stephanie set a really high bar! We were originally just going to get a drink and fries, but our service was so outstanding we decided to try some food. Two bites in we decided on dinner. We spent more than we expected but no regrets. DELISH.

Stopped in for hh and not only is the interior adorable, but the food and drink were fantastic. They definitely err on the side of overseasoning, but I much much prefer it to underseasoning. We got the burrata bruschetta and brussel sprouts off HH and they were both excellently prepared. The brussel sprouts had a great crunch and caramelized coating without being too overpowering. The burrata was creamy, tomatoes fresh colorful and juicy, and the bread pulled it all together perfectly. Drinks were refreshing and well made — will definitely be back for more.

Attractive casual modern exposed walls and ceiling faux industrial. Coffee americano was far below say caffe bene and i decided to not even finish my chicken sandwich.(They were out of my first choice mussels). Server was great, personable, and coffee came quickly. Normally hate to review on the basis of one visit and one plate but i am afraid that we can’t expect better downtown anymore. Too many tourists push restaurants to cater to an unrefined palate. But hope springs eternal and after a few more weeks of eating elsewhere i might try something else in the gaslamp.

We came here for a big group dinner(a table of 15 people or so) and made reservations about 3 weeks in advanced and they accommodated us easily. The waitress was really friendly and great about explaining everything on the menu to everyone. We ordered a couple bottles of wine and 2 pizzas as appetizers. The pizzas were thin crust, crispy, &HUGE, with really fresh ingredients on top. The Farm to Pie combo was my favorite because of all the fresh vegetables. I almost wished I had ordered a whole pizza to myself for dinner, until I tasted the Pappardelle Bolognese I ordered — hot damn it was delicious! Fresh pasta with lots of sausage and short rib shreds in a very flavorful tomato based sauce. I really really enjoyed it & finished it even though I was stuffed. I will eat to the point of pain if the food is delicious enough! The restaurant’s atmosphere is really nice as well, very hip, with big open windows to let the breeze in on a warm evening. It’s the perfect summer restaurant in downtown. Parking probably isn’t great cause it’s right in the middle of the gaslamp area, but there are plenty of paid lots around. Price wise, I think it’s pretty good for the area. Pizzas & pastas are $ 17 – 20 or so, and some of the entrees can get up towards the $ 40s. The food is high quality and very well prepared, worth every penny!

I stopped in here right when they opened, i wanted a nice lunch and the outside décor is so pretty. The interior is even better; the colorful furniture and vintage book shelf with rustic tables and large open windows really makes for a beautiful restaurant. I like the fact that the menu changes often, i only rate three stars for the cocktail selection and weak drink i was served. I tried the 75 lemons and it was like soda water with strawberry flavor. Don’t come here with special drink request, i later asked for a martini and the gentleman at the bar said it couldst be done, he said maybe he could do something like it but his lack of enthusiasm led me right to water. The meatball i had was huge, great flavors and large enough to share.

Double Standard was an excellent decision for dinner in gaslamp. I went with a group of 9 during a bachelorette party, and it was fantastic. First off, the place is very pretty, and although it is quite busy, the tables are not so packed into the space that you can’t hear the people you are with(always a bonus). They set the table with some beautiful roses and rose petals, and they were so attentive to our bride-to-be all night! There are a few reasons this place is great for a group: the menu covers all sorts of tastes and price ranges. For example, you can get a very large(no on finished) pizza for $ 16 – 20, appetizers ranging from burrata to farro to bone marrow to octopus for $ 12-$ 20, or fresh pastas(tortellini, pappardelle, home made gnocchi) and meats. The pizzas looked(and tasted) excellent, with toppings including spicy sorpressata, ricotta, meatballs, and more. I do wish we had known that they could be large enough to share, especially if you have appetizers or sides too! I also have to recommend the burrata toast and the grilled octopus. It was one of the best cooked octopus dishes I have had! For the sides, the brussel sprouts are worth a try as well! Finally, the staff went above and beyond to make our night special. We had dessert(cannoli and the donut holes with lemon curd) and champagne to celebrate! Without a doubt, if I were planning this bachelorette again(or just a date night, night out, or family dinner), I would go back!

Finally made my way back for a second time and was just as satisfied the second time. This place has it all — great drink menu, wine list, yummy appetizers, pizzas and entrees. The place just drips with cool when you walk in and I love how all of the«walls» are open to the street. Both times I’ve been here service has been great. It’s a really cool place for any occasion, especially to bring out of town visitors! Really convenient parking garage right next door and not overpriced for downtown parking! Only cost me $ 3 for 2 – 3 hours!

In short, I am a new fan of this place. Good drinks, good ambience, perfect location in downtown/gaslamp(walking distance to nightclubs) and amazing food! If you have the time, read the details below Adrian, the host, went above and beyond with his up beat and warm personality from the start to finish. My group of friends were 30 minutes late to our 7.30PM reservation on a Saturday night due being stopped by the policeman on the way there. Adrian reassured me that he would accommodate us regardless. Our waitress were very puzzled that night and getting our drinks was a very painful process. From getting most our drinks wrong, not getting water for at least 15 – 20 minutes and having a very delicious pizza that was not cut(their pizzas are cooked on 900 degree oven that makes it much harder to cut). As soon as we mentioned all the problems, out server apologized and they worked really hard to get it right from that point on. The experience couldn’t get any better afterwards. We left the restaurant happy and satisfied. My mouth is watery right now just thinking of the crab pasta dish, pizza, grilled romaine salad and fried donut tiramisu.

I was really excited to come here for my «last meal» before my surgery with my coworkers but not sure if it was all that great to come back once I can eat again. We made a reservation for a 1:00 pm on a Wednesday; it was dead so a reservation was not needed… but I did like how we had that option to make one. We sat down, looked over the somewhat small menu and ordered. We wanted to start with an order of fries as an appetizer, however after 15 minutes the fries came out and we were so happy… until our server accidentally spilled them on top of us. Luckily they missed me but got on my friends black pants! Yikes. Our server was apologetic and said she would get us another order right away… so whatever. Our food all came out separately, a really big pet peeve… It is rude for someone to start eating before others and I just did not get that? Keep in mind our food came out and our fries were still no where to be found.sadly. After we finished our meals… our server says«the fries should be right out»…at that point we said«cancel the fries!» She stated«oh okay then, I will take them off of the bill». We were confused as being that they were late, spilled and late again… taking them off of the bill should have been already done? We left with just a «so/so» experience. While I enjoyed my pizza — it was nothing CRAZYGOOD. My co workers said they were not impressed by their meals. I give them stars for their ambiance and décor… that had me googley-eyed!
