I really enjoyed the fig jam ricotta cheese GF raisin bread french toast here. They even served Watermelon wedge which my son loved. The Mexician mocha was okay. Décor was nice. Seating area inside is a bit small.

Bottom Line: A cute breakfast and brunch shop in Liberty Station. There are three different Fig Tree Café locations in San Diego. This one is for the restaurant in Liberty Station which is conveniently on the way to the airport. I’ve only been here early in the morning when parking was easy but I have to wonder if it would be trickier later in the morning. The ambiance here is very cute and quaint. They have a large outdoor patio as well as some indoor seating too. I’m a sucker for Eggs Benedict and avocado so I had the California Bennie here. It was everything an eggs bennie should be — high in protein and rich in flavor with a side of guilt. Additionally, everything tasted fresh and particularly the perfectly ripe avocado. The Benedicts also come with house potatoes but I can easily pass on those. In addition to a healthy breakfast/brunch menu, Fig Tree also has bottomless coffee and lots of Specialty Drinks(which translates into breakfast cocktails). Like some other Unilocaler noted, the service I experienced here was super slow. Usually, breakfast is quick but this was slow as molasses. I’ve only been to this location once so it might have just been an off day, not a systemic issue. Overall, I had a good experience and look forward to coming back.

I like that this place is kind of tucked away in a small residential area, with a few other shops and cafes in the plaza. We were seated outdoors on a busy Saturday morning; opted for an omelette, stuffed french toast, and coffee. The omelette was awesome, not greasy or too salty. The french toast was fine, but not nearly as satisfying as the omelette. I definitely prefer savory over sweet for brunch. If you’re seated outdoors, watch out for the birds that fly by(despite the overhead tarp/tent covering). Service can be a bit spotty at times(but still not terrible), obviously dependent upon volume of customers. Also, there is only one bathroom stall for customers.

Had the GF portobello panini which was really tasty. quick n good service. The ambience was good but too noisy though. The outdoor seating has transparent covers on top making it suitable for a nice rainy day outdoor breakfast. Do not expect any view as it is not that kinda location.

This is a late review but one that is much deserving of 4 stars. I took off one star due to pricing, it is an expensive establishment so if you’re looking to fork out at least $ 20 for a meal then this place is well worth it. The ambience is so cozy! We sat outside by the heat warmers and we loved it! We went during restaurant week so we got the 3 course meal for $ 30, it was wonderful except for the desserts which we didn’t even finish. The lobster ravioli and the short ribs were tasty. I think the salads were my favorite, especially the beet salad, yum! We just finished attending the evening service at The Rock Church(which is literally walking distance from this place) and a perfect ending to our evening. Place could use a few more signs outside because it was a little challenging to find. Other than that, great ambience, service and good food!

Decent breakfast food, but subpar service. Waitress was MIA a couple of times and part of our food order was delivered after we were done eating everything else that was ordered with it. They have lots of people working here, but maybe they should do some balancing of resources in order to have some of the bus boys/girls step into part of the waiter/waitress roles. I then asked for a refill on my iced tea and was provided with something that was not iced tea. I don’t know what it was and neither did the others in my party. We guessed it might have been regular or diet soda that was sitting in the sun for a couple of hours. When I brought to the attention of the waitress she acknowledged that she had guessed on what she was bringing me to refill. OK then.

Tasty food… The service had a lot to be desired however. Normally I give the benefit of the doubt to the server when it’s busy and can be very forgiving of waiting longer. Issue here was accuracy. 1) Forgot our«man candy» bacon. Not the end of the world. Since we finished our meal we just asked her to take it off the bill. They brought it out anyway after our table was cleared and we weren’t hungry anymore. 2) Refilled my friends iced tea with something that tasted like flat Coke. When bringing to her attention, she said«oh I just grabbed the pitcher that looked like iced tea». So apparently she doesn’t even know what she’s serving to her customers. 3) No water refills even though the support staff was abundant. Perhaps the restaurant could consider closing the gap of support staff to wait staff. 4) No apologies or ownership of above items.

Came to San Deigo for two days, and both mornings we ended up eating here. The food was unbelievably delicious, and the service was wonderful. Even the bus-boys had a smile on there face, and welcomed the customers. Working in the restaurant business myself, I have to say that reading some of the bad reviews on this place make me cringe. Just because you have to wait for a seat, doesn’t mean bad service– it means that the place is so amazing– it was popin’ both mornings we came in. It shocks me how inconsiderate some people are reviewing this place. This restaurant is fabulous, and an amazing experience. I highly recommend coming here, it is worth the wait. Great job you guys!

today was a disappointment compared to the lovely experience I had at fig tree many months ago. we sat outside surrounded by the lovely crisp air and the heat from the fires which was very nice. there is nothing to complain about when it comes to the ambience here. as always, the breakfast sushi was a hit and loved by all 3 of us but none of the other food we ordered impressed us in the least. I ordered the Atlantic lox omelet which was stuffed with a lot of fresh smoked salmon but the asparagus was undercooked, and the mozzarella was not melted whatsoever. I ended up taking the smoked salmon out of the omelet altogether, placing it on the very nice focaccia bread and topping it with the lemon caper cream sauce. the truffle potatoes were good. the two friends I went with were also a bit disappointed; the sourdough bread was tough to eat, ranch dressing tasted like pure mayo, and garlic fries were bland. unfortunately, our server was absent for the majority of our meal and when she was there, it was simply to drop something off and bolt. we ended up receiving anything we needed from the busser who was cleaning the tables nearby. I hope to come back in the future to try their dinner menu but am a bit hesitant now

I love love love figs and to hear that there was a place called Fig Tree Café I knew I had to try it. Surprisingly I only saw the presence of fig on a few items. Ironically, I didn’t try any of those items. Their brunch/lunch menu is expansive ranging from omelettes, French toast to paninis and salads. I had a hard time figuring out if I wanted to satisfy my salty or sweet tooth cravings. I ended up with the andouille sausage omelette with potatoes. The omelette was pretty standard and kind of greasy from the sausage. The potato skins were crisp yet the potato was soft. It was also heavily seasoned with rosemary and lacked some salt. But I enjoyed it and it was quite filling. I had read about the coffee flight, which allows you to choose up to three different lattes for $ 7.25. I decided to pass because I just wanted to keep it basic. I opted for the black coffee and added coconut flavoring. It was delicious and just sweet enough that I didn’t need to add any extra sugar. Next time I would love to try their ricotta stuffed French toast with fig.

Came here on a recommendation from a friend. It was definitely delicious. 3 of my favorite things: 1-«man candy» — candied bacon. LOVE the name, LOVE the bacon. 2-caffeine flight — just get it. The Mexican Hot Chocolate was my favorite. 3– Gluten free raisin bread — I’m not gluten free, but this was FREAKINGDELICIOUS. I would go back and get just that. I got the Monterey Scramble and probably wouldn’t get it again. It was unimpressive, runny and had a sloppy presentation. I can’t knock them too much though because, I didn’t go with the servers recommendations. My boyfriend did. He got omelette with the upgraded potatoes(definitely do this) and he loved it. Would definitely be down to try the restaurant again, but won’t be ordering the same thing.

It might be redundant to re-update my 5 star review to another 5 stars, but I feel the need to profess how much my family and I love the Fig Tree Café. Last night we came in for my mom’s birthday. They did not have a table inside so we sat outside near the heat lamps. Our server knew we were chilly, so she allowed us to place orders and then move inside when a table became available. We are definitely a group of pains in the asses, and she was overly accommodating! As usual, the food was delicious. Everyone was very happy with their choices. At the end of the meal, we of course ordered the lava cake for mom. Although lacking on the«hot lava» gooeyness, there was no lack of flavor in this cake. It came out piping hot with vanilla ice cream dripping down the sides. To. Die. For. Our server realized we were celebrating, and was so kind to provide us the dessert for free. I know we could have checked in on Unilocal anyway, but its the little things, guys :) We make frequent trips to SD from Philadelphia, because two of my siblings live here. You could argue, however, that we make the trip for the Fig Tree Café :)

Smack in the middle of Liberty Station on Historic Decatur Rd, Fig Tree Café is situated in nice open terrace allowing for its guests to enjoy their meal in their spacious indoor restaurant, or in their covered patio area(equipped with heat lamps, also plenty of seating). Because they have a very spacious outdoor eating area, dogs are more than welcomed. The hostess table is also stationed outside, so you don’t have to feel awkward about briefly bringing fido in to put your name down. The ambiance was certainly refreshing, and the food just as much. The stuffed french toast with ricotta cheese and peach/apricot marmalade caught my attention immediately. It seems they vary this menu item up a bit depending on the availability of ingredients because I’ve read that others have had it with strawberries. Although mine did not include it, the stuffed french toast did not disappoint. Bread is so fluffy with some added milkiness to it. The innards come gushing out in spastic wonder… You’re given butter and syrup, but the dish on it’s own is already so sweet you don’t need any of that. I opted to turn my meal into a combo by adding eggs and bacon for an extra $ 4, but I was so disappointed by this. The eggs and bacon were simply just there and certainly not worth an extra $ 4 — maybe $ 2 — but NOT a whole 4. Really, the stuffed french toast on its own does the job. Also give their house-made organic coffee a try, it’s $ 2.95 and bottomless from that point on. I mean, you’re probably good with a cup, MAYBE two, but still a nice touch to their breakfast choices. Overall, nice breakfast place with not-so-typcal menu items which are also offered gluten free if that’s you’re kind of thing(I personally don’t care).

I got the windnsea omelette which came with potatoes and toast — very good! My friend got the sushi deli which she loved! She got he sauce on the side and she liked that as well. My third friend got eggs Benedict which she ate in about 5 min. She was in heaven. Lastly my friend got grilled cheese, tomato soup and salad that she taught was great! She also got ginger kombucha tea! We were all satisfied with our meals and loved our waitress Chelsea. She was beyond perfect! We will be back next weekend :)

Came here for brunch before leaving SD. It was located in a plaza that looked like it use to be a mission — it was pretty cool. This place got a nice big outside patio seating and it was a great sunny day to have some brunch. I gave this place two stars because the service was pretty bad — nearly waited 20 minutes after we sat down before the waitress came up to us to ask if we wanted any drinks to start but by that time we could already order. only saw her three times — took our orders, got me the butter i requested which took her about 10 minutes and then got us the check. yeah so not much service to speak of. The food was good — I ordered the Meatloaf Hash with scrambled eggs and English muffin. using meatloaf instead of corn beef hash was a pretty good idea and pesto sauce was good too. my boyfriend had the wild boar sausage omelet which was pretty good and he substituted the country potatoes for yummy truffle fries. The food was delicious but the service was bad… though i would come back because it was only one waitress — perhaps next time i will get a better one.

It was the day after Halloween… enough said. My best friend and I were in desperate need of brunch and Fig Tree Café came to the rescue! We went pretty late and inadvertently beat the brunch rush so we were seated right away. After immediately placing our orders for two iced lattes(caffeine was a must), we were wowed by the menu and all they had to offer! From eggs benedict to pancakes and french toast to sandwiches — holy moly! We had some serious decisions to make! After going through all the possibilities and realizing that we could only eat so much, we decided to split the Housemade Lobster & Blue Crab Cake eggs benedict and stuffed french toast with mascarpone, strawberries, and mangoes. Both dishes were incredibly delicious with incredibly generous portions! My friend and I were both wowed by the quality and quantity of both dishes — so much that we have plans to come back and try other items on the menu! Also, we learned that Fig Tree Café also serves dinner… so we will absolutely be back on more than one occasion.

I’ve been to a couple of the Fig Tree locations for breakfast, and their food is consistent. My go to breakfast order is the California omelet. This has bacon, cheese, avocado, and I order without sour cream. It also comes with roasted potatoes and a side of bread(a bit carb heavy). We came to the Pt Loma location in Liberty Station on a Sunday morning. Fortunately we came before the rush(about 10 am) and were seated immediately. There’s seating inside and outside, but typically I have always sat outside. Our server was very attentive and nice(I unfortunately did not get her name). The omelet was as expected and good. The roasted potatoes were pretty crispy and I actually preferred more crisp than soft. Bf ordered the turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich. This comes with fries. The fries are thin and crisp and good. I didn’t try the sandwich, since it had similar items in it, but it did look good. My one complaint about this location is that there is only one unisex restroom, so there is typically a line. Overall, this is a good place to come. Good food and good service!

Love this place! Have been in San Diego less than a week and have eaten here twice! We went before 9am on a Saturday and a weekday and were seated immediately. The staff here are so friendly and quick! First time we tried the breakfast sushi, shrimp frittata, and fig tree mule. For the breakfast sushi, I’ve seen pictures where people ask for the plum sauce on the side and would totally recommend that — it gets pretty over powering. The shrimp frittata was pretty good with the super plump and juicy shrimp, I would ask to lighten up on the cheese next time. Second time we tried the shrimp and mango salad, BLT, and mangosteen mimosa. The BLT was a bit heavy for my taste, but still really good and if you have a chance to take a bite off someone, do it! My favorite now is probably the shrimp and mango salad and will probably get that every time — super light, filling, and just damn delicious! Would highly recommend getting a drink as both I had were really good! They also have military discount which is a huge plus! Can’t wait to go back for another round!

Went here for a weekday brunch with the family… While there was a 20 minute wait at the hillcrest location, this spot had no wait for our party of 8… Located in point loma, with nice shaded patio seating as well as open airy indoor seating… Our server was friendly and helpful. The food was pretty good. I loved the fresh squeezed apple juice and orange juice… It tasted fresh of course(haha), with their natural sweetness… Their French toast is definitely sweet and rich… Large slices of toast, moist and fluffy… I wasn’t a fan of the breakfast sushi that my nephews ordered. It tasted like rice + egg + bacon… The rice was dry and no real depth in flavor… The man’s candy(bacon) was yummy tho. Yummmmmy thick cut bacon with a salty sweet taste… I ordered the meatloaf hash, and while it tasted pretty good, it wasn’t really what I had in mind when I ordered. They mention pesto in the description, but it was more pesto than meatloaf… Overall a nice place to go for breakfast or lunch… The ambience adds to the experience…
