Great brunch food and awesome service! Portions are pretty big. Order the chilaquiles and the Nutella French toast. Cool atmosphere and probably a great place to go at night. We forgot to use our 10% off offer from Unilocal, and the server was happy to adjust our bill even after she had printed it. Definitely recommended!

It really doesn’t get any better than $ 8 bottles of champagne. That insanely attractive price tag includes a carafe of orange juice so your table can make their own mimosas! I arrived at Garage Kitchen + Bar on a Sunday and just barely made it in time for brunch. My party of three was immediately seated. I had a drink in hand in no time at all. Between the three of us, that bottle of champagne was divvied up at rate of 2 – 3 glasses per person. Amazing! I only picked up the tab for the champagne and did not order any food, but I would totally recommend a pit stop at the Garage to any mimosa fiend. The check-in offer of 15% off the tab was the icing on the cake. If only I could get some $ 8 bottles of champagne in Vegas… UPDATE: The check-in offer is now 10% off instead of 15% off. I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while but only to my disappointment. My friends and I came here to celebrate a birthday before hitting the club. They all got the California chicken sandwich, which was decent. The fries were extremely salty, like they took a salt bath before serving it to us. The short rib fries were OK, but the shrimp pasta was definitely not. It was super bland, tasteless, and had the texture of dry flaky noodles. Think twice, maybe three times before ordering that one. I hear their happy hour is good, but I’m hesitant to try their food. I guess thats what happens when you dine in a garage!

Came in during happy hour before going to see a live band. Was hoping to try one of these colorful mason jar drinks that I’ve been seeing and was sad to find out that they weren’t a part of happy hour :/So just had a beer instead, but at least they have my favorite, Cali Creamin. Food wise, we ordered the short rib fries, the burrata flatbread, and the biscuits. The short rib fries were good, I liked the addition of the peppers. The flatbread on the other hand didn’t quite meet expectations. The toppings were good, I love the burrata, but maybe it could have been spread out a bit more and the underside of the flatbread was barely cooked and even doughy in some spots. The biscuits were ok, I would have liked them a bit softer, and the bacon butter was definitely underwhelming. Our service was ok. Not bad and not spectacular. Garage is right next door to the Shout House, and in fact they share the same red hallway in the back and bathrooms. Can’t really say there was much to make me come back unless they include their signature drinks in happy hour, or maybe for brunch sometime. #sandiegofoodgirls

I liked this place, definitely, make sure you come in early to miss the long lines for brunch on the weekend. My only complaint was that the food was a little soggy. I’m going to go with cooking with tomatoes, but when eating a hash, the crispiness is the best part. Very large portions, I should have shared with my friend. We tried the biscuits, but they were nothing to write home about.

We came in for brunch first thing in the morning so it wasn’t busy yet. However after ordering the food took about half an hour ror more before it arrived. I ordered the omelet lox with smoked salmon and caper. The salmon inside was good however the eggs were overcooked snd the overall taste was very salty. On the bright side the beer selection was excellent ^^

I came here for brunch based on the reviews stating there was no wait for brunch. There was a wait for brunch. And a large annoyed crowd of people waiting at the door with no hostess in sight. When one finally emerged from the chaos within the restaurant, she zeroed in on me, asked if I was alone,(I was), optimistically stated«I can find a spot for YOU», and promptly disappeared for another 10 minutes. The neglected angry mob started to turn, but I kept my eye on the prize: the San-di-cristo. When the hostess finally returned she led me to a communal table(how LA) as «We were here first!» grumblings filled the entrance. The people at the communal table were literalllllly trash-compacted versions of the Kardashians. I pretended to not speak english. The San-di-cristo turned out to be pretty anti-climactic for a $ 13 dollar sandwich that doesn’t come with sides. Served cold and the pulled pork tasted like jerky. They also didn’t honor the 15% off with check-in on Unilocal. Although I did learn(against my will) that there are people who actively aspire to date Lamar Odom and will do anything for free pizza. 0____0

I was so surprised to see how easy it was to find a table for 8 people on a Sunday at 10:30am! We came here to celebrate a friends birthday. Arrived at 10am thinking there might be a wait, but we were easily seated. Service was great, food was delicious and the place is really nice inside. Bathrooms are nice and large, shared with Shout bar next door. I ordered the egg Benedict which comes on their chive biscuits(mmm). Their potatoes are to die for, and it comes with fruit, too! Most places make you pick fruit OR potatoes. I like that they had both! My boyfriend got their french toast with nutella mousse – wow! It might look small in photos, but it was definietly large and filling. They also have a 15% off your bill check-in offer which we used and our watiress graciously changed the total. All in all, it was a good find for breakfast!

Not as crowded as other brunch spots in SD. 8 $ bottles of mimosa– which is a steal cause we split that between 4 people. We had the Greek yogurt parfait, which was deliciously filled with fresh fruit. the crab cake Benny was fishy tasting, in my opinion. If you’re feeling for lox, I think I’d go w the toast and avocado instead of the other option– too much egg for the amount of salmon you got. The short rib hash was good– but there wasn’t much short rib to go around. Presentation and ambiance is stellar– but food is just OK. We usually go to Barleymash down the way but decided to give this place a try. Not a bad option of other spots are crowded.

I only ate here once and it was for breakfast, so that is what this post is for. It is conveniently located in the Gaslamp District and surprisingly had no line when we arrived. For being what appeared to be predominately a bar, they had a nice sized breakfast menu(something light, sandwiches, breakfast favorites, omelets, hashes, benedicts, and sweeter side). I went with the chiliquilies verde(carnitas, rajas, roasted tomatillo salsa, house tortilla chips, over easy egg, queso Oaxaca) and it was fantastic! I was not sure if I would like carnitas with eggs for breakfast, but the dish was great! Definitely check this place out, especially if you are in a hurry and want to eat without waiting an hour first.

Came here for happy hour drinks and appetizers. Good Happy hour deals! Except the buffalo wings are not on the happy hour menu. The place was rather empty! We ordered nachos and the sliders. The food was good. I tried some San Diego beers which were good. The vibe of the place is really neat too. So for Happy hour, I am big fan. I am not sure if I would come for dinner however. It would get a little pricey.

The sign on the sidewalk drew me in on that Sunday night with it’s special, «Bourbon and Coke Meatloaf Sandwich». Upon being seated, the menu ensured it was indeed a customer favorite and was served open faced with fried egg and fries. The waitress harshed my buzz with an apologetic, «We’re out of the meatloaf, which is odd, because no one ever orders it». I avoided asking the obvious — how could it be a favorite when no one ever orders it? — or why are you out when no one ever orders it? — or have you considered taking your sign down? With much disappointment, I opted to start with the clams and mussels. This was the most overcooked version I had ever been served. The few morsels that had not slipped out of their shells were smaller than a dime and cooked nearly beyond identification. The rest must have slipped off into the cream tinted white wine sauce. We fished around for a while and came up with a few stalks we believed were fennel, but found no sign of the slimy little buggers, nor did we find any sign of the chorizo that was listed as an ingredient. Still at the plate with two strikes, we ordered Chicken Two Ways — finally, good food! This was a hit, a pan roasted breast and a confit leg, both cooked perfect and accompanied by a garlic mash and cold?! broccolini. The broccolini could have been frozen, and I would have still been happy with that plate as a whole — very tender juicy chicken Other things done right — — comfortable atmosphere — friendly service — cold beer — 15% check-in discount

Came in around 2pm hoping they were still serving breakfast and they were… insert happy dance here. Had the«San-Di-Cristo» and it really hit the spot. I highly recommend it if your looking for a hearty meal to start your day. The place is very airy and bright as there is a nice sky light to brighten it up. Staff was friendly and attentive A+ experience.

This place has some decent food. I had the crab cake Benedict and they were tasty. Seasoned well with real crab. The potatoes were good as well. The fresh fruit(watermelon and orange slices) was not really fresh and the orange juice obviously came from a bottle. I’d rather pay an extra dollar or two for fresh squeezed. Service was decent and interior décor is nice. My wife had eggs and sourdough toast. Warning: the bread is very hard so be careful not to cut the inside of your mouth. Nothing stood out as superb but nothing failed either. Good spot for a casual average breakfast.

I had dinner here on a Sunday night around 9pm and the place was pretty empty(assuming because it was a Sunday night!). The kitchen closed at 10pm so we had one hour to dine. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere leans more toward a bar than a restaurant. I ordered a glass of wine and my husband had the blackberry boogie drink which he described as «ok, but not the greatest». For dinner I had the four cheese grilled sandwich with tomato bisque soup. Both were delicious. The sandwich comes with super thick Texas toast type bread and of course the four cheeses. The bisque was a little on the thick side but still good. My husband had the chicken served two ways which was good. The chicken was moist, but didn’t have great flavor. Overall I would say the food is ok, drinks are good and service is very friendly!

I’ll keep this short and sweet just like this restaurant. Service was fast and friendly. Small brunch menu, but definitely worth trying. Avocado and lox toast hit the spot. Rosemary potatoes were . Average $ 10-$ 12 a dish. A single mimosa is $ 6 and a flight of 4 is $ 16, $ 4 each. There are five different flavors to choose from, four staple and one special of the day. All of which were sweet and not too strong. I will definitely have to come back to try the cereal shots! ALSO: In order to use the 15% check in offer, your entire party has to check in.

Came in during a bar crawl. 60% capacity and it wasn’t a mad rush to the bar. Minus 2 stars for not acknowledging you customers and having all 4 of us wait ten minutes before even asking for our order. Minus another star when not providing the pub crawl special… really the wrist band got us here? No, it includes some sort of special that you are too lazy to share with us. First time here. Not impressed. Good job guys. :/

There are literally tons of places you could pick from on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy a burger and a beer while in the jowls of downtown San Diego/gas lamp area, however this week is burger week and there were just so many $ 5 burger offers that we strictly picked on ingredients. The Garage Kitchen + Bar offered a Butcher burger, which was actually a $ 10 combo deal(burger and fries) but we just had to try because it boasted of a three meat blend. The thick, juicy patty was a blend of bison, wild boar and ribeye adorned with crispy shallots, bacon jam and house sauce(A-1 mayo kind of sauce) which made this burger one-of-a-kind amazing! If you’re into burgers this one is a must try! The Garage is located on 4th street just south of G right next door to Shout! The dueling piano bar… seems like a great place to kick it on a night out on the town. We would love to return to try some of their bloody Mary’s and craft beers as well. Perfect location, service and burger! A hands up high-five! Kind of five star experience for us.

I am deeply unsatisfied. If I can have no stars in this review, I would. During the beginning of my time, the shots were fine, but when the food came in, all hell broke lose. Tasting the pancakes was just terrible, I don’t fancy cinnamon all too much, but when I took one bite my disappointment kicked in, 8 dollars for these three pieces of misery. I suggest not coming here. If u want some pancakes for cheaper an better, go to Micky d’s, at least u get what u ordered for.

This place is horrible. The service was ridiculous. They were very rude and unaccomadating. We walked in with a party of 10 people at 4:30 pm and they had two of their biggest tables reserved at 4:30 pm for a 6:30 party. We asked to use the tables until 6:15 and they said no. The manager said«I don’t care if you leave.» So we took our money over to Tin Roof where it was wonderful all around.

My friends and I didn’t know where to go for brunch and we decided to stop by here and I am so glad we did. I’m not sure if this bar is new or not, but It wasn’t too crowded on a Saturday afternoon. The brunch menu was small, but they had a variety of different dishes. I got the short rib has and it was very good. I don’t recall what my friends ordered, but they all liked what they ordered. For drinks, we got the champagne bottle with orange juice to make mimosas. It was a good deal for that! We also got the cereal shots. It looked very interesting so we all tried it and got different ones. I got the fruity pebble one and liked it a lot. I would definitely come back here for brunch. I would also like to come try this place for dinner as well. The staff was also very friendly, which is always a plus!

This place was stop #2 on my friends and my happy hour adventure. We were brought upstairs even though there were tables downstairs. Since we were the only table upstairs, our server had to run up to check on us… even though her tables were downstairs. Our server seemed frustrated when they ran up only to have us need a few more minutes. Positive…The drinks were strong and reasonably priced. Neutral…The food was pretty good, but nothing amazing. We got the short rib fries. The short rib was clustered in one area, so if you’re the lucky one that found it… you got it all. We also got the burrata margherita flatbread. They are generous with the burrata. The flatbread dough was interesting, it was more like a cracker than bread-y. As we walked down leave, we walked past our server and they were so in the zone, they looked right through us. Overall, food was average and service has room for improvement. Side note: The check in offer of 15% off your bill doesn’t apply to happy hour.

Came here after a long day of being in Tijuana, Mexico. We wanted to be seated inside because it was cold out and we didnt want to be near the door. We were placed in a booth along the wall on the 2nd fl. The service they provided was impeccable even before the food arrived. My friend and I graduated from Syracuse and our team was playing NC at that time. We asked if we can have 1 of the tv switch over to show our mens basketball team. The dude tried to swtich some tvs but some of the customers complained and after 3 tvs, we got our own, granted I moved to sit next to my friend instead of facing face to face but we were happy to get what we got. Food was pretty delious. We only went for the happy hour specials. We had the ahi nachos, I wasnt sure what the green stuff were but the chips and ahi was delicious. The ribs were delicious and fell off the bone. So it wasnt too messy if you decided to use your hands. I wasnt too fond of the flat bread and meatballs. Their selection of beer was too much, I almost didnt want to read what each one was but bartender was very helpful.

Came here on a Saturday night with a group of friends. Ended up upstairs at the bar. The bartender that was working seemed to be new. She had no clue what she was doing. We asked her what type of rum she had and she didn’t know. The service was extra slow and not helpful. Bar is just ok. There is nothing special about it. They do have good drink specials on beer and well drinks.

Fun — you just have to call it that. Hitting it up on a Sunday Noon time frame, we enjoyed mimosas of many varieties and a couple of other drinks. Service was fast, but not intrusive, even at the bar itself. The interior is the newer trend of ‘reclaimed’ and it fits the personality here to a T. This isn’t a cooperate bar trying to be a dive bar; this isn’t a dive bar in the busy part of town. It’s a place to grab a few drinks, watch TV, people or just be relaxed. Very much worth the stop and the time!

Sunday morning — we were enthusiastically invited in for a table of 18 guests. Waiter was super efficient and friendly. I ordered the lox salmon omelet, but had a taste of everybody else’s orders: crab omelet, omelet with mushroom and truffle oil, french toast with nutella cream, and of course accompanied with champagne high mimosa. Sounds fancy? Yes, but tasty. Sorry I have no pictures to share. By the time I thought about it, everything was gone. Atmosphere is festive. You can watch sports tv comfortably. $ 2 Bud Light during NFL games. Whaaaat?! That’s right, $ 2 draft 16 oz beer in the Gas Lamp. Mind Blown! So far the experience has been great and there are plenty of tv’s to watch your football game of choice. My friend had the Caesar Salad which had romaine lettuce and a bit of a wilted feel to it. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to the standard that you would expect at a restaurant. The beer deals are great, but I wouldn’t recommend the food.

We visited the Garage for the first time last night. Although I did not have the opportunity to try the food I will however comment on the drinks and atmosphere. It was Halloween therefore it was a bit of a mad house in the Gaslamp. As we entered the Garage there was a DJ spinning music. The first floor had a full bar and tables for dining of which some were moved backed for dancing. Since it was crowded on the first floor we decided to go to the second floor for drinks. Several guest were seated and still dining. Some tables were moved to create a dance floor for the many revelers. There were also booths and a smaller well stocked bar on the second floor. We were able to walk up and immediately order drinks. The drinks were tasty and not water down. The atmosphere was just so much fun we had to stay and partake for awhile. I’m looking forward to my next visit and this time I will actually try the food.

The gas lamp district is bustling with life, from the restaurants to the people. It’s a place where you are bound to find a great place to eat. Well my girlfriend and I had a great idea to eat at ihop. Ummm yeah ihop! Lol. As we walked up the street to ihop we stopped and gazed over the menu at Garage Kitchen, and decided this would be a much better option! Yeah great choice! The rustic feeling the restaurant has is very welcoming. We were seated toward the entrance by a hostess and were greeted by our waiter shortly after. We took a quick minute to look over the menu and I decided on the old fashioned pancakes, half a biscuit and gravy with a side of potatoes. My girlfriend had her mind set on the crab eggs Benedict, potatoes and fruit. The many TV’s in the establishment kept us entertained with football games as we awaited our food. The hostess emerged from the back carrying our food. I stared at it as she walked gracefully to our table. The food was set before me and after a few pics we dug in! Wow how decadent the pancakes were! A slight crisp around he edges and soft and a bit flaky on the inside! The biscuit and gravy was just okay and the potatoes were very good paired with the onions. My girlfriend loved her meal, and of course I stole a few bites and it was quite delicious! All in all the service was good, the food was great and the restaurant was very welcoming, I would definitely return to eat here again.

Came here today(Sunday) around 10am to grab brunch with friends and watch football. It wasn’t too crowded and thankfully the AC was on full blast. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. Drinks They have an awesome special on Saturdays and Sundays: $ 8 for a bottle of champagne and a carafe of orange juice. They will give you as many glasses as you want. Pretty sweet deal if I have to say so myself! The champagne was J. Roget and was surprisingly pleasant. Not too sour. Food Overall it was good. I ordered the crab cake benedict and it came out as I ordered(I’m weird and like my eggs over-hard). Sadly, my friend ordered their burger medium rare and it wasn’t as juicy as she liked. We realized the patty had some pork in it so I’m thinking that’s why it was probably cooked a little more? We also ordered the crème brûlée French toast with the Nutella mousse. The mousse was pretty runny and didn’t really taste like Nutella. Kind of a bummer :-/Everything still tasted good though! TVs for Football They have 4 TVs above their bar, another in the main dining area, and a few more in their upstairs bar area. There are«community» style tables in the middle, so this place is great for groups. Overall, positive experience! FYI, this place is connected to Shout House and share the same bathrooms

Came here for lunch during Burger Week 2015. It was a little awkward at first, because the hostess was clearly trying to drum up business for their brunch menu, but we were like… «Uhh… we really came here for Burger Week.» Anyway, it was a little disappointing that they were only offering one of the two highlighted burgers at the time. The Butcher’s burger did not disappoint! The combination of bison, wild boar, and rib eye proved to be a juicy patty. At Garage, I was also introduced to bacon jam! How has it taken me so long to discover this amazing sweet and salty topping? Finally, I have to give a shout out to the delicious thin cut fries with itty bitty strings of crispy shallots placed on top. All in all, a great experience! I’ll be back!
