Not a lot of vegetarian choices. Tuna melt was not that great but perhaps they have better sandwiches.

Pro: the chicken tortilla soup and Korean BBQ days are amazing. Con: since Dave’s Snack Shop closed down in Dec 2013, Heidi’s has raised their prices in everything. Entrée meals are close to $ 10. Also, their coffee is always out or if there is some left it tastes burnt. Lastly, they’re charging a CC fee when you use your card. I think I’ll stick to walking across the street to 7 – 11 and getting fresh brewed coffee there. A large costs less than Heidi’s and I get a FREE Muffin. #BiWinning

I’ve eaten here for breakfast and lunch over the past few years and find that it’s improved a lot. Generally this place is bustling busy during lunch time as it is the main and only place to eat(unless you count lunch trucks) on base at SPAWARHQ. They have imporved their lunches by offering«skinny» versions of various plates so folks can eat more healthy. Special orders sometimes get mis-interpreted though, so if you want to «have it your way» you might be taking a chance. I think the cooks there know every menu item by heart and they make it how they know it, no matter what. I’ve asked for a special breakfast several times and it’s never quite right the way I ordered. For example today I said only a veggie omlet, no toast or hasbrowns and please add 1 slice of bacon to that omlet. Well, the omlet was more of a scramble and I still got hasbrowns! You’ll find you still get charged for a full breakfast meal or lunch plate even if you remove some items you may not want. While they have no problem adding on to the price for extras, taking off for items you don’t want is not their business. I’d love to give this place 5 stars, but just for the lack of ability to order some things a la carte, and slip ups on special orders along the way… I’m giving them 3 stars for being the go-to place around this base.

3 stars and a half, really… The half is for the friendly staff, especially the cashiers, that really try to make your Deli experience the best one each and every time. They have always been very helpful, despite sometimes looking stressed and over-worked. Why it’s just Ok… The food is a bit overpriced. They should at least incentivize the full meals for the regulars, such as a buy X and get the Xth free or something like that. Some of my co-workers, however, gladly pay and eat there each day because they enjoy the variety and quality of the food. And it IS good, but… Don’t try to get anything a la carte because they ain’t havin’ it! At all. No exceptions. I’m trying to watch my figure here! I once tried to sneak in a most desired a la carte request with a new cashier and she rang it up and it came back full price and she looked as puzzled as I did. Hiedi(I’m assuming it’s her, a short little Asian lady who is often seen rushing around cleaning counters) comes out and says no! and I couldn’t have my two eggs and just hash :(If only I could have pleaded my case, that I am a bariatric surgery patient with a stomach the size of a toddler, and couldn’t possibly fit in the hash browns and toast… but in this hustle and bustle deli there doesn’t seem to exist such a comment box. Being that it’s the ONLY permanent eatery in the SPAWAR campus, we make do. Their coffee brand they use(the name skips me) is ok. They do have a variety of flavors to choose from, though. As of late, they’ve been providing«skinny» versions of their daily special combo plates, which usually just replaces the carb with salad, and at pretty much the same price. See, this is where they could cut back a little on the prices as well. Make the prices more appetizing. The name sort of irks me, it does a lot of people, but who are we… I joke and say«meet you at «Hee-Dees» All in all, it’s not a bad place but like most things can use improvement. I wouldnt think of bringing these issues up to the staff, they do their best, and on this campus they are the only ones we can count on for good, warm food. Beggars cant be choosers.

Hiedi’s has definately gone down hill, the food continues to be overpriced however they seem to be the only option without leaving campus, which is becoming a better and better option. The Coffee is Ok, however still a little pricey for an OK cup of coffee. On the upside(the only reason I gave a second star) the cashiers are very friendly and try to help out as other reviews have captured. If you have time constraints and can’t get off campus recommend hitting one of standard green food trucks — at least they are cheaper, or if the line isn’t too long try one of the new speacialty trucks which seem decent so far.

The protien burrito in the am is the BEST! And the salsa that goes with it is AWESOME. I have had the French Toast as well, it is pretty good. The bad part is that you can’t get just French Toast(minus the sides) becuase they charge the full price regardless. The food at lunch is hit or miss. I have had the Chicken Pesto sandwich with fries that is good. But… I have had the Philly Cheesesteak and I couldn’t eat it — it was all gristle. I have also had the chicken kabob and when I took it back to my desk to eat it, I took one bite of the chicken and it was pink/raw inside. If you have a bad meal, you can’t send it back or complain b/c you just get a blank stare. The prices are somewhat reasonable but tend to be toward the high side if you ask me. I can get better quality food for the same price if I leave the campus. I guess when you are the only deli on base you can charge what you want and not have to give great customer service.

It was a good option for lunch of breakfast. Menu is always varied and the food is always good. Big portions and good seasoning. There is usually a somewhat healthy option.

Overpriced food that really isn’t that great. Sandwiches are cheaper and better if you walk off campus to the gourmet bagger or other locations near SPAWAR. Every once in awhile I come back to see if things have changed but find I am still disappointed. Why can’t the Navy get a good vendor in here like we get with Moody’s trucks and Dave’s Snack Shack. This place just plain sucks. Even looks like some of their items are bought at Costco and repackaged and date later with a huge markup.

Try the protein muffin before work or after a work out, service is quite slow at times. The food is quite good though sandwiches, BBQ, chicken marsala, etc… Try everything!

OK I have to give this place another star because for the first time in this job(8 years) I actually get excited to see the menu from our work deli and plan my lunches for all week. This week I will be having on Tuesday Lettuce Wraps with chicken and egg drop soup and on Thursday I will be having shish kabobs with rice pilaf. Today I had chicken noodle soup and the salad bar. If I wanted to fall sleep at work I would partake in the lasagna, salad and garlic bread on Wednesday. All sorts of good stuff on their weekly menus. Last week I missed out on chicken teriyaki and miso soup. I had to use my lunch hour to cart my stupid kid around. They still have the latte issues where no one seems to know how to make it but I’ve moved on.
